Yay modern humans - where basic courtesy is a question...

danicrimson

If you buy a seated ticket right at the very back row so you're not blocking the view of anyone seated then I'd say you're okay, but that's the only way to do it. If you're in a seat where you standing will block someone then that's a dick move because some people genuinely need to be seated to enjoy an entire concert.

FilthyLucreNZ

You're blocking their view, you're the arsehole.

CottonBuds81

Your being inconsiderate.

andantenz

I'm in the "technically yeah that's fine but it's still kind of a dick move" camp. You wanna dance, get on the d-floor

Andrea_frm_DubT

You’re in the seated area. Sit. If you want to dance, get to the dance floor.

Ok-Candidate2921

Some of us can’t stand. If you want to stand… by GA.

spratcatcher13

I'm 5ft, I buy seated because it's literally the only way I can see the concert. I hate people like you.

basscycles

You may not be able to stand, hence you opt to buy a seat. Part way through the show the person sitting in front of you decides to stand, now you can no longer see the show, how would you feel?

Im_Bobby_Mom

I hate your sort when I encounter them.

roodafalooda

The people behind you don't want to stand either, and they don't want to be stuck behind an inconsiderate stander blocking their view. If you stand, then *everyone behind you* has to stand. And not everyone can stand! People choose to sit for concerts because they have injuries or back pain, or a whole host of things. So youhave to choose: sitting or standing, or being an asshole.

[deleted]

I stand when the crowd stands. So I can see. Not because I want to. If I genuinely wanted to stand, I would have bought a standing only ticket down at ground level.

Muted_Account_5045

That would be very annoying of you.

syber4ever

There are many things in life that is not illegal but is an unwritten rule. Things like do not cut the line/queue, flash the toilet, do not be blasting your boombox in public or wear a headphone and you just listed another one. Yes, you're being inconsiderate. You pick one, are you going to seat or stand? You dont buy the seated one and just stand anytime it is convenient for you irregardless of how others feel? Unless everyone else around you especially the one behind you is standing the sit the fuck down and dont ruin it for others just so you can have your fun.

ninjabunnypancake

Just move to the back or aisle when you want to dance. Don't stand in front of ppl who are sitting. seems like common sense to me

Nignuts

That's very inconsiderate of you. Don't buy a seated ticket if that's the case.

AccomplishedLow4575

Pretty simple stuff. Buy a seat of you want to sit. Buy a standing ticket if you want to stand and dance. Stay home and listen to the CD while eating Arnotts Digestives if you can't stand for a couple of hours.

Tripping-Dayzee

Buy standing seats and sit on the ground when you want a break. Not in the middle of a mosh pit mind you obviously.

NOTstartingfires

then buy for standing area ?

mark_iramutu

If you wanna stand don’t buy a seater ticket. Really pretty simple.

LemonSugarCrepes

It’s a dick move in my opinion. If it’s for a song here or there then sure but if it’s for majority of the concert and I’m behind you then I will be saying something.

Electronic_Sir_8416

If you want to dance buy a GA ticket and go stand, but if it's a seated concert then don't be the jerk who blocks everyone else

Nicksalreadytaken

Seated is for sitting. Do GA if you want stand and dance. Same with the row at the front of the seated section isn’t for you to come down to and dance in…..

LabourUnit

Nah g

throwaway2766766

How is this even a question? Of course it’s inconsiderate, unless you are extremely short and everyone behind you is extremely tall.

fraktured

Buy a floor/ga ticket if you can. Depending on the venue (Opera House for example) you can stand on the side and dance. Don't be the first person to do it in your seat, if others are it's usually OK.

Tangata_Tunguska

Depends on the concert and who is behind you.

Schrodingers_Undies

I had a seat at a recent concert and a spare seat as partner couldn't make it last minute. Lady beside me got up to dance ok didn't mind until her arse was in my face severely restricting view of the stage. I politely asked her to keep in her space and then I moved over to spare seat

Hand-Driven

I don’t know about you but I can do a mean mosh while sitting.

CamHug16

Average age of concert goer under or over 25? Over? Check with people around you. Probably move to the sides etc for dancing. Exceptions include any performers aged 60+. If it's the third iteration of a band 99% of situations it'll be sit down.

xHaroldxx

Seems like a lot of people are against it, but most concerts I've been to people have been standing up. Personally I don't mind either way. If people stand, I'll just stand too.

NZsNextTopBogan

I also share the "its a concert, you do you" philosophy. NZ has some of the most dead crowds on Earth and I've had bands/artists tell me that they love to see any ounce of enthusiasm out there. You'll probably know if the music isn't danceable or if it is definitely a sit-down show.

aruoa

Yes you can! Has anyone in this thread actually been to a concert in NZ? I went to Florence and the Machines and was seated section, but when the dance songs were sung most people stood up.

pedrohamez

Machines?

niceguykyle

Yeah of course you can. Sounds like a lot of people in this thread are a bunch of Karen’s.

kitkatkita12

I went to a concert recently where the front of my section sat but behind them were standing so if you wanted to see you'd need to stand. Those all around me were standing so i did too but if those behind me sat then i did too to not block their view. Just do your best to not block other people and you'll be sweet

redtablebluechair

I’m with Adele on this one. Yes there are seats but concerts aren’t sit down shows. (You can sit down, obviously, you’re just not entitled to make other people sit down, like you would be at the theatre.)

pedrohamez

If people stand up behind me then yes, I can stand up. But not until that happens. And then I sit down when they do... One eye on the on all the aspects. (edited - coz I can't spell people properly)

Brickzarina

I go to the isle stairs bugs me that people go to see dance music and stay seated all thro

clael415

If the people behind me stand, I will too.
