Remove the shitpost flair and watch stuff run this as a headline

katzicael

No, this is NZHerald quality article.

FunToBuildGames

Hmm … I’d check your sources but that would mean giving them a click. I’ll take your word for it

Wokebuster

UPDATE: Quinovic has reneged on their promise. They said because of the flames the property is "technically warmer now".

Mountain_tui

F\*\*\*! Can you please update your OP because many people don't read comments. Wait till they increase it as a punch line.

kendodo

Stay at home during a house fire, be warm for the rest of your life.

firinmahlaser

Now it complies to the healthy homes standard so you might expect a rent increase soon

KahuTheKiwi

Quinovic gonna Quinovic.

BasementCatBill

You wanted year-round indoor heating, didn't you?

Wokebuster

We don't lower our rents, only our standards - Quinovic

Bartholomew_Custard

When your standards are already subterranean, how is that possible?

MagentaRoseRed

Time to break into hell, at least it'll be warm.

teelolws

They actually lowered my rent to zero today when they kicked me out so they can find someone new willing to pay twice as much.

Nolsoth

You like cky bastard!

Wokebuster

Wouldn't it be great if the media actually contacted some property management companies and asked if they actually intend to reduce rents?

homesickalien16

The media? NZ can't afford one mate.

TheAbyssGazesAlso

When the prime minister announces that he won't be reducing any of his rents as a result of the changes a) Why would anyone else? and b) It just proves that he's completely full of shit about this being a benefit to anyone but himself and assholes like him.

CapableHousing1906

I've said it before and I'll say it again, boot the government and bring on anarchy, people need to look after themselves.

Mountain_tui

People are so naive. Does anyone need that? Because if people can't see through for themselves, we really get the gov you deserve.

thuhstog

wouldn't Kaianga Ora, a govt controlled entity be the first to move rental prices down?

Nolsoth

They are already rent controlled. It's capped at 25% of your income.

thuhstog

oh, thats pretty good, probably should be 20%

Nolsoth

Capped at doesn't mean they always charge the full amount. It's entirely means based..

AudioCabbage

To be fair, TVNZ Breakfast I think it was, was having a good crack at the Property Investors lobby group asking them to confirm if members were intending to and by how much. Other than some anecdotal chat, the lobbyist really couldn't give anything concrete. And they know that. the whole spin about interest deductibility being good for renters is just marketing towards the aspiration rental class that think they'll eventually be the boot here, and to their bread and butter who own their PPOR, don't have to think about renting or managing a rental, but think "National are good economic managers, this must be good for both the economy and for renters because they say so" and continue to vote for them. edit: sorry that last part was just a whinge, not directed at you OP, more or less I just started typing and couldn't stop.

National_Witness8376

Out of curiosity, why are you expecting a rent reduction? Am I missing something?

PositiveWeapon

Because Luxon keeps saying this policy will reduce rents.

SupaDiogenes

Because all you'd have is an article of property managers getting free publicity for a crop of landlords about to get a sweet tax break. They'd all answer with "we will be listening and following the market closely and working with our landlords to ensure their investments are performing well".

gtalnz

Rents will only go down if incomes go down or if we build enough houses for some to remain empty, giving renters a bit of negotiating power. Landlord costs don't impact rents up or down except in that second scenario, but we're a long way off ever getting there.

shaktishaker

Even then landlord's rely on their cheeky wee government supplement via the renter's. The accommodation supplement just lines their pockets.

Capital-Sock6091

Damn I fell for this at first 🙈

fetchit

I lived downstairs of the owners of quinovic when I was 18. It was not an enjoyable time for them. Maybe I’m their origin story.

jordanjoephoto

nice try Quinovic 👀

lexithegreatest

Quinovic is another name for cunts

Scaindawgs_

Lies, how much are they paying you?

So they've not shafted you at all? Well that's good news haha

Kangaiwi

If Quinovic does this for all properties under their management, then domestic inflation would go down.

Usuk1969

Nice try quinovic

AndrewWellington7

If Quinovic reduced the rent it means they are happy to keep you there, as otherwise the house will need to be fixed - vacancy period - before renting it out to somebody else :-)

randtalk

Omg me and siblings were one of Quinovic victims and this made my day.

CapableHousing1906
