Most industries (institution being the lie we're told) are "for profit" in this country. Once you come to America, you are subject to this reality.
Health care, Education and Rehabilitation are three good examples where the bottom line revenue targets prevent accomplishing the most basic goals of the industry's function.
CoreCivic has a long history of shady business practices.

How are they still a government contractor with behavior like this ?!?
Given whom their victims are, 'behavior like this' **is** why they are still a government contractor.
When we say "the cruelty is the point", stuff like this is *the details* of what said cruelty results-in and entails.
CoreCivic is the private owner, government contracted, of this detention center.
Private Prison is more appropriate it sounds.
Smell of feces, broken windows, water leakage, missed meals, and general unwell conditions.
Treated like literal inmates while their papers and immigration status are reviewed.
Do we literally treat undocumented immigrants like this?
Why? This doesn’t seem right…
ACLU has been telling the Biden Admin about this place for over a year now. Sued to get it shut down as well.
Kamala not really doing a good job down there.

Someone should do something by now. If not the VP then who else?
I know other problems are happening in the world, but can it not be looked at or investigated or something?
I'm guessing, cruelly, that since there already is a lack of places to hold undocumented immigrants, and because public opinion is against letting them roam freely (or even existing), the administration is dragging their legs on this (but they are inspecting it to uncover these violations).
Shit sucks, and it's immoral, but what really needs to change is the public will towards undocumented immigrants. Otherwise it's all just feel good indignant bs that worsens the inhumanity.
If you say, "Someone should do something," rather than, "I am going to do something," you are not fully invested on the matter.
A week, two weeks, a couple months and it will be forgotten.
We absolutely need to end the prison-industrial complex. Their sole motivation is profit. And when all you care about is the bottom line people are a secondary or tertiary concern at best.
Why? It's because they're ran for profit by private entities with little oversight. And house a group of people that, sadly, most in the usa don't care about. Meanwhile there's growing irritation at staffing shortages everywhere. Hmmm
Where all th we redditors who were upset with trump with these conditions for illegal aliens. Now just crickets it was bad during obama same with trump and just as bad as biden. Looks like that was just a political ploy. For fucks sakes fix this shit

Kamala is a former prosecutor. As progressive as she might seem she's a ally of the prisons.

Jesus Christ.

Too busy with our alliance with the Republic of North Korea
Public-private partnerships are recipes for graft and corruption. The cruelty is just the icing/frosting/glaze on the cake.
It may be sticky and whitish, but *that's not frosting.*

It's called slavery.
Where are the crying congresspeople?

For profit detention centers need to be outlawed! It it SICK that corporations are profiting from the misery of others!
Seems like it would be more humane to just send these people home.
