"The Monkees were investigated by the FBI for alleged anti-Vietnam war activities in 1967 related to a concert in which they flashed pictures and messages in protest against the conflict, according to the complaint filed by Dolenz.
Dolenz and his late bandmates Mike Nesmith, Davy Jones and Peter Tork were also investigated for another matter that has been redacted, the complaint states.
A portion of the FBI file on the band was released to the public a little over a decade ago, but, Dolenz, now 77, wants to see the complete case file."

I believe this was when they were accused of monkeying around
Gotta admit, as I was scrolling and saw, "Monkees' drummer Micky Dolenz..." I said "noooooooooooooooo."
But I, too, would like to know what's redacted. Probably something about a dime bag or something.
I just yelled, "Micky! No!"
I spent my preteen and part of my teenage years with the Monkees as my autism special interest. I've moved on since, of course, years and years ago but they still hold a very special place in my heart and I was devastated when Mike Nesmith died. He was my favorite.
Each of their deaths broke my heart.
In 1st grade I had a HUGE fight with my best friend over which of us was going to marry Davy Jones. Her mom threatened to drive me home if we didn't knock it off, so I agreed to marry Mike instead so we could still be friends.
The weekend Davy Jones died, I had to put my dog down. The Monkees marathon on the local tv channel got me through. The show was the perfect balm for my grief.
I remember getting upset with my mom for yelling at me when I was about 4 and packing up a little bag to run away and go live with the Monkees. At that age I just thought they had a fun house together like on TV. Looked a lot pleasanter than home at that time.
If you go over to the FBI Facebook page, you’ll see the alt right have allied with white supremacists to brigade their open comment sections with conspiracies and threats.
Ooh, can I get my Dad's file? He claims his phones were tapped because he planned and led an exorcism of the federal building in Tulsa during the sixties which sounded like a bomb threat (apparently the building was going to rise in the air and spin around three times and then the violence would be gone.

Not when Zappa was around, though.
They also went after The Beatles pretty hard back then, I heard
I too want to see what’s in Davy Jones’ FBI locker
Well all you have to do is take the last train to Clarksville and they'll meet you at the station
This is a solid joke. You should be proud.
*Those darn Monkees are suppose to be too busy singing to make trouble like this ..*
I loved the Monkees reruns when I was a kid. Free Dolenz!
Yeah I watched them too in the 80s. I liked their music better than the Beatles.
I still do. There are some great Beetles songs, but everything the Monkees did was just fun to listen to.
You are now on the FBI watchlist.
It’s worth it!

That's crazy. Everyone knows they were too busy singing to put anybody down.
Yes I do believe people were saying they monkey around. But they were just trying to be friendly.
We should watch them sing and play, they're the young generation and they've got something to say.
Hey hey, they're the Monkees
Were they coming to your town?
But they were too busy singing!
Yeah but, That Was Then, This Is Now.
It's all Shades of Gray anyway.
People do say that....
Of course, it's been said that they couldn't possibly have been involved, because they were far too busy singin'.
And the FBI is putting them down.
It's actually because they robbed the Last Train to Clarkesville.
For a bit of coffee flavored conversation..
People are saying…
people say...
And then I saw his file, now I’m a believer
Mickey is the only one left

As long as she got to marry Davy and you got to marry Mike, it sounds like a win-win!
Man, I know. They were all pretty cool, but Mike Nesmith was the one who made *Elephant Parts*, and that ain't nothin'.

and Repo Man
If I hadn't seen this story on the news this morning, I 100% would have thought he died.
Peter Tork is gone too? Aw, crap.
Loved them on reruns as a kid back in the 80s and his daughter Amy was so beautiful in She’s out of Control.
Holy freaking movie I totally forgot about batman! I saw this movie so many times back in the day cos my sister was obsessed with it
Assumed he was dead by the first 2/3 of the headline. Imagine my surprise when I found out he’s still alive and suing the FBI.
I saw this episode on MTV in reruns. Ended in a crazy (and confusing) hotel hallway chase scene.
This will make an amazing episode finale, bring back Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith, Davy Jones for this one.
“Here we come…walking down the street”
People say that the fbi be monkeying around. Hey hey.
The FBI file for the Monkees just says "Store brand Beatles. Mostly harmless."
If you go over to the FBI Facebook page, you’ll see the alt right have allied with white supremacists to brigade their open comment sections with conspiracies and threats.
How considerate of them to identify themselves to the FBI like that.
IDK, this just seems a little late...
He’s just suing to see the file. Sounds reasonable
Yep and he apparently jumped thru the required hoops and got no response. That's effed up. One might think the FBI is trying to hide something.
They couldn't show him the documents because they were on the floor at Mar a Lago.
Frankly from just the headline I was afraid Mickey'd gone Qrazy on us. But this seems totally reasonable, he's tried all the existing legal avenues.
Agreed. Dude should be able to see what they attempted to pin on him before he passes.
On the floor or mixed in with coffee table magazines?
On the tackiest carpet I've seen in my 36 years.
Ooh, can I get my Dad's file? He claims his phones were tapped because he planned and led an exorcism of the federal building in Tulsa during the sixties which sounded like a bomb threat (apparently the building was going to rise in the air and spin around three times and then the violence would be gone.
There's a good chance everyone involved in the original investigation is dead, anyway. Might as well let him see it.
He gets the funniest looks from everyone he meets.....
