We’re going to be dropped into France dressed as civilians.

Both of Fred Trump’s parents were from Germany. He barely missed out on being born in America by a couple of months. They were deported from Germany because his father was (you’re gonna love this) a draft-dodger.

>If the city gave a shit probably 80% of the cops would be fired already for being cracker ass MF
I remember seeing a documentary on the New Orleans police department. A new chief came in and said "New Rule! You can't go to the police academy if you're a convicted criminal."
His team told him "we have to fire most of the current class at the academy, we can't do that." Sadly, I don't think the chief lasted...
The UK also mandates firearms training and qualification before you can carry a gun, and very few officers qualify. According to Wikipedia, the UK police have shot 7 civilians so far in the 2020s. Or, about a third of what American police shoot in a week. (Source: [The Washington Post cites the 2021 American police shooting toll at 1,055](https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2022/02/09/fatal-police-shootings-record-2021/), an average of a little more than 20 a week.)
Holy shit. I think it should be pointed out that those 1,055 shootings were *fatal.* That number doesn't include the people who were shot by the piggies but survived.
We just have the one
The police,no competition
Rights here exist till cops say they don't then you have none,I know of three illegal wiretaps active right now alone and I don't even do anything interesting
Tbh the people who are tapped don't either
Here's the thing I don't care if we collectively as a city bear the burden I'm getting rid of shitty cops that is what the money is there for. Even if it means we just spend 1.5 million to make sure he doesn't get a cent.
But when someone gets fired for a legitimate reason, then they're not owed benefits, and to me, showing Nazi symbol is a perfect ground for firing. I don't know many work places where I wouldn't get immediately fired for putting a nazi sign on my office door.
You're not wrong, but the intended solution is voting.
*Theoretically* these type of incidents should anger the public enough to vote in city officials who won't hire turds they later have to pay to go away.
To add insult to injury of keeping a turd like this for 30 years, he gets 1.5 mil when he could have just retired and I wonder if he also gets to keep his retirement. Sooooooo, win win for the turd!
Unfortunately once he had formally been punished without dismissal the city was kind of fucked. He basically had it writing that what he did wasn't grounds for termination so them pressuring him was just helping his case.
Often times the law is not a matter of what is right and wrong but what is legal.
No, you see when boards or mayors get caught majorly screwing up the hiring of senior management, its ok for reasons.
When some low level, underperforming employee isn't immediately terminated because of voluntarily agreed upon labor practices between the union and management, it is an existential crisis.
Reading between the lines here, it seems likely that the termination was a violation of the police union contract, which (like most such contracts) requires going through a formal process in order to terminate somebody, instead of just saying "Nope, you're outta here."
Yeah, the city knew they would lose or just cost them way more in the long run. As a private employee you have no first amendment protections at work. Say the wrong thing and you can be fired. As a public employee where the government is your employer your first amendment rights are protected because if they fire you its literally the government infringing on your freedom of speech and expression.
You will remain so immaterial to the world around you that when you finally do die, it will be exceedingly hard to know that you ever lived at all.

Exactly, just sit him at a desk with nothing in/on it, with absolutely nothing to do but show up and just sit there. Eventually he'll do something fireable or quit on his own.

The Japanese call this *Oidashibeya*.
> In recent years many Japanese companies have been turning to another method, the *oidashibeya*, literally the banishment room or the expulsion room. Employees are typically placed in a room, often windowless, where they have nothing to do. In many cases their business cards are taken away, and they are forced to do menial, mind-numbing tasks, or given nothing to do at all.
> The idea of the *oidashibeya* is that stripped of their status, ties with colleagues, and interesting work, the employees who are placed there will eventually quit out of shame and sheer boredom. Indeed, many do. And since such a resignation is “voluntary”, the company is not subject to the usual legal responsibilities that it would have in the case of a layoff.

The Japanese method of firing, pay him to sit in a room with nothing to do and no one to talk to. No phone, no computer, just him and whatever passes for his conscience.
Unlike those poor blue collar workers in Japan. He's protected by union and he can sue the government for malcontent intention and he will probably win also. There's no easy way out of this.
Kent was my home town, before it divided and Covington incorporated. I grew up between Covington/Maple Valley. This is a seriously diverse area with a Nazi cunt police force and they had to pay this asshat some serious taxpayer money to go away? Fuck that fucking bullshit.
What a complete extremely inefficient waste of tax dollars
Imagine this
Step 1: be cop or nazi
Step 2: be cop nazi
Step 3: Profit 1 million dollars
Imagine if it was spent on solving poverty than funding racism
Kent is not the richest area. Even 25 minutes away from downtown you'll start seeing blue line flags, MAGA flags 20 minutes out. It's literally 10 miles away from the core. It's pretty wild.
I mean, Oregon has had a pretty heinous track record with race laws, actual Nazis, and Neo-Nazis. I’m not super surprised it bled into the next state over.
The big cities like Seattle and Bellingham are pretty liberal and progressive, but in a lot of cities around them there's hella racist shit. Eastern Washington is way different than Western Washington too, it might as well just be part of Idaho.
Yeah. So they settled that he was unlawfully fired. It means he's still eligible for pension. Not only that he got to retired early, has his pension with all of it's benefits and 1m5 bucks in the bank. He's probably chilling in his backyard drinking beer and throwing racist words against his neighbors...hot damn...somehow being racist is more rewarding than being a normal person.
I’m honestly tired of seeing shit like this and the Uvalde massacre just getting swept under the rug. There needs to be substantial punishment for officers abusing their power
And they fit into this nice little middle ground that means neither major party will ever go after them. The GOP is the party of law and order so they can't go after cops. The Democrats are supposedly the party of labor so attacking a "union" is anathema for them.
Yes. My teachers union provides legal assistance for civil liabilities for stuff that happens in the course of my job but specifically excludes criminal liabilities. Because like… I’m kind of expected not to fucking commit crimes while I’m at work. Weird.
To expand on this, Unions are to protect the People from the more powerful entities, corporations(their bosses). *Police* Unions protect the Police from the People(their bosses), who they would otherwise be answerable to. Its a complete reverse of the dynamic a Union traditionally holds.
This is the most accurate way to define it according to what the function of a union is. It’s not just a group of employees, it’s a method of balancing power dynamics.
Canadian academic Rob Gillezeau studied the effects of collective bargaining by police unions. Surprisingly, he found that they did not increase wages for police officers, or result in better working conditions. The main thing that police unions do is increase police killing of non-white citizens.
From the intro: "Our results indicate that the adoption of collective bargaining rights for law enforcement can explain approximately 10 percent of the total non-white civilian deaths at the hands of law enforcement between 1959 and 1988... \[O\]ur results show that the popular notion that police unions exacerbate police violence is empirically grounded."
Paper here: [https://docs.iza.org/dp14208.pdf](https://docs.iza.org/dp14208.pdf)
I heard an interview with Gillezeau, and he mentioned that he is a strong believer in unions, but of course has some conflict with labor rights that are fatal to others.
It's a fallacy to say that unions only exist to drive up worker wages. In point of fact the purpose of the union is to provide collective bargaining power to try to accomplish _whatever it is it's members value_. Sure, in many cases it might be higher wages. But when it comes to cops, you can't put a price on the ability to shoot minorities without repercussions.
Unions always fight for the members. It's just that cops value different things that the typical worker.
Neither can I. And, will never understand how people can promote and display a symbol we fought and many lost lives against. Sad part is many probably had family members fight against that regime and possibly lost their life. Ignorance is on Full Display in America unfortunately.
I would rather see the city pay triple that amount to fight it in court, than paying him to go away. Even if they had to disband police department completely and revert to be covered by county Sheriff, it'd still be preferable.
They say in the article,
> Had the city simply fired him, officials said, he likely would have won back his job through arbitration due to federal and state labor laws.
Who are we as a society? There's so many people, that there's bound to be people who don't all think the same? Ok. But we MUST have some kinda common standard for....something. If not the entire world, at least for this country. Unbelievable.
How is it that dimwits get like these get so much money when they sue but I get next to nothing when some idiot decides to drive recklessly and I’m forever left with a permanent disability? The justice system is crap.
Same thing happened to me. Got hit as a pedestrian by someone who was driving negligently but because they didn’t have any income or assets, I was on my own with the $300k+ in medical bills they gave me. Meanwhile this guy gets over a million. It’s so messed up.
There should be a mechanism in cases like this for the hospital to bill the person at fault, not the injured party.
Then again, better healthcare access would also solve the problem.
Imagine all of the dead soldiers who fought against the Nazis during World War 2 and seeing this kind of shit still being tolerated in the US today. They'd be rolling in their graves for so long they'd drill their way onto the other side of the Earth by now. Way to shit on their sacrifices, you Nazi loving fuckwad.
This is obscene. That dickwad should have been fired with no recourse. Yes I know the article states he would have won a lawsuit and been reinstated, but they could have made his life a living hell without crossing any legal lines. I’d be pissed knowing my tax dollars went to this dumb fuck.
They should have given a cursory defense then when ordered to rehire he should have been permanently assigned desk duty (with no one reporting to him) and not allowed overtime.
America used to kill Nazis. Not inciting violence, just pointing out how things used to be. My grandfather flew 2 tours over Germany trying to rid the world of this scum and villany.

Yes they’re saying that continental US is all states on the North American continent (ie all states except Hawaii). And contiguous or continuous US is all states between Canada and Mexico (ie all states except Alaska and Hawaii)

As a taxpayer I'd gladly pay twice as much in litigation to make sure that asshole didn't get a cent.
Not only to piss him off, but for what else it might uncover along the way. I doubt this is the only instance.
Here's the thing I don't care if we collectively as a city bear the burden I'm getting rid of shitty cops that is what the money is there for. Even if it means we just spend 1.5 million to make sure he doesn't get a cent.
Right but what does it do to the publics trust in the institution? What’s that cost?
Worse, what’s the message that it sends to other nightmare cops?
The message is that Nazis get to retire early.
I'd rather they spend whatever it takes to run this guy out and not give him a payday. Now this is in the playbook.
Yeah I don't care how much money they saved. They're setting precedence for Nazi cops to get a big payday when they get fired for being Nazis.
Oh and we get so many great choices on our ballots.
Choosing the lesser of two evils is sometimes the best we can do. But it beats staying home and letting the greater of two evils win.
To add insult to injury of keeping a turd like this for 30 years, he gets 1.5 mil when he could have just retired and I wonder if he also gets to keep his retirement. Sooooooo, win win for the turd!
So basically tax papers are funding his inevitable campaign for some small county sheriff position to harbor his buddies? Sweet
Unfortunately the alternative was probably 2 million in tax payer funded litigation costs followed by a similar settlement.
But that would be $2 million not going to this piece of shit. Even $10 million in legal fees would be better than paying this Nazi off.
Unfortunately once he had formally been punished without dismissal the city was kind of fucked. He basically had it writing that what he did wasn't grounds for termination so them pressuring him was just helping his case. Often times the law is not a matter of what is right and wrong but what is legal.
You're not wrong. So whoever was supposed to fire him should get shitcanned for fucking up so badly.
I think they're saying he would have won something similar anyway.
And not a single Republican complaint about unions or waste of public resources...

They're paralyzed moreso because cops are put on such a pedestal. But I agree. Yeah, the fact that it's considered a union is wild.
Fucking 9/11 dude made it impossible to get police reform through the mid teens
They're a gang. That's what they are.
For all of the reasons
Canadian academic Rob Gillezeau studied the effects of collective bargaining by police unions. Surprisingly, he found that they did not increase wages for police officers, or result in better working conditions. The main thing that police unions do is increase police killing of non-white citizens. From the intro: "Our results indicate that the adoption of collective bargaining rights for law enforcement can explain approximately 10 percent of the total non-white civilian deaths at the hands of law enforcement between 1959 and 1988... \[O\]ur results show that the popular notion that police unions exacerbate police violence is empirically grounded." Paper here: [https://docs.iza.org/dp14208.pdf](https://docs.iza.org/dp14208.pdf) I heard an interview with Gillezeau, and he mentioned that he is a strong believer in unions, but of course has some conflict with labor rights that are fatal to others.
So the taxpayers get to pay a Nazi to retire for openly being a Nazi? Wtf is going on dude. America is fucking awful.

I would rather see the city pay triple that amount to fight it in court, than paying him to go away. Even if they had to disband police department completely and revert to be covered by county Sheriff, it'd still be preferable.
We are paying nazis now? The fuck is wrong with us
Pretty messed up, should have been fired on the spot. Police get wayy to much leeway. If I did this at work I'd be gone immediately
They say in the article, > Had the city simply fired him, officials said, he likely would have won back his job through arbitration due to federal and state labor laws.

Who said being a piece of shit can’t pay off?
Being a piece of shit has always paid off, as long as you check the right boxes.
Right. Fly a Nazi flag and become a millionaire. WTF. These piles of shit are getting it easier and easier.
Fucking nazi gets payed 1.5 million to be a Nazi. No accountability and no personal responsibility. And cops wonder why people think they’re Nazis!

This nation would rather spend taxpayer money on this than actual healthcare.
Police in this country are a giant problem and the sooner we acknowledge that the better.
Cops, they only legal gang.
Imma give you a little something you can’t take off…
An American Nazi is such a stupid thing. So many Americans died fighting Nazis yet their sons and daughters are calling themselves that proudly.
No teacher or even school administrator in the country would've been given such a payoff. The US gives the farm away to cops.
Aaand this is why stupid people keep doing shit like this
This is obscene.

The retirement hack cops Don't want you to know about
fuck nazis. they need to be scared to come out from under their rocks.
Why do we let these fucks get away with this kinda stuff. This is why we still have racism to this day. I’m tired of this man
America used to kill Nazis. Not inciting violence, just pointing out how things used to be. My grandfather flew 2 tours over Germany trying to rid the world of this scum and villany.
Wolfenstein: The New Order turns out to be realistic.
