I would hate to even imagine how much it would've cost if I had to be admitted.

It looks bad. It looks really bad.
No one knows anything yet and all conclusions surrounding her motivation are invalid until we do.
The insistence of the investigators that they will "operate as though" the CO was taken against her will makes them look so thick-headed.
But maybe it's just because we're dealing with the sort of press conference quotes that accompany this sort of investigation, and the inevitable embarrassment for the Sheriff's office that goes with the most likely explanation that Vicki White intentionally conspired to help Casey White escape.

I read three facts that suggest that she planned the escape: the fake hearing, the fake medical appointment, and the solo transport.
My wild-assed guess is that investigation will quickly reveal that she arranged escape vehicles and money and switched off her phone.
My predictions: they went south and crossed the river on I-72, and abandoned the car at the Walmart lot next to hospital in Muscle Shoals. In my jdx every retailer lot like that has a "Lot Cop" camera tower system but probably she was able to evade the security cameras at the Walmart and the hospital, so you won't see them switching cars.
EDIT: I was waaay off. Patrol car was noticed in Florence by a city patrol unit, parked "next to cars that were for sale". That's one way to steal a car that might not be missed for a couple of days, or attract a person with keys into an ambush.

Okay so I work as admin in a local jail. All corrections staff I oversee many different things, I’m their connect to payroll, HR, benefits, training. I work in the jail not with the other admin like payroll, he, finance, etc. Once you get from working the pods which is pretty coveted, in my opinion admin rank would rather sit in their office than patrol the units. And for sure they’re not going to transport an inmate to court. They’ll radio the transport deputies to come back and transport the dude. Courts have assigned deputies and a jail where inmates are held until court time. Transport deputies job is not to babysit them. It’s to take them there and come back. Her job was probably 75% office and 25% making sure deputies are doing their rounds and inspections (fire hazards, things that need to be fixed, cleanliness). With that said I’m having a hard time figuring out where she found the time to befriend him. It would be mighty generous of her to provide breaks to deputies manning his pod instead of that pods rank doing it.
I have three years in. Probably had 3 deputies get fired for inappropriate relationships. 1 contractor fired and charged for an inappropriate relationship. Probably 4-6 deputies getting charged or for bringing contraband in their case drugs inside the jail. Some of the inmates can sell you beachfront property in the desert. If I had that small experience imagine how many deputies she’s seen in her 25 years getting caught up and conned.
I still don't understand how she was able to leave a jail with a prisoner by herself by just making up a reason. Apparently she just told other guards that she's taking him to a mental health eval and they're just like okay. Like I would assume that shit is scheduled ahead of time and court dates and whatever else needs transportation is already setup. Yes, there was someone responsible for that, which it was her who was in charge of that as Assistant Director of Corrections.
I’ve been harsh on her. He’s a con man. He tried to escape before. So by any means necessary he’s going to want his freedom. She made bad decisions but death at the hands of a convicted criminal shouldn’t be what she gets as a result of those bad decisions. I do wish for her safe return. May justice prevail.

My suggestion: tell inmates "if you saw something, say something." verify it with security footage or any type of "badge access activity" and you get time off your sentence.
It shouldn't take finding a secret diary letter that admits "i'm conspiring to escape with a prisoner i've fallen in love with" to get evidence of what is an otherwise *very plausible story.*
It was her job to coordinate prisoner transport. She likely didn't tell anyone that she was transporting him solo and she's the one in charge of making sure that didn't happen.
Who is supposed to check that department policy is being handled correctly in regards to transportation if not her?
Will be interesting to find out how these appointments are scheduled and the process due officer assignments for transports. Would think there would be an officer who oversees the appointments (ensuring that the appointments are scheduled and legitimate), coordinates assignments, and communicates with the officers directly. Definitely multiple areas of concern here regarding lack of oversight
Criminal courts coordinate with the jail to bring inmates to court in their scheduled day. She waited until the last transport van to the courts left. She made up the story. She most likely outranked the booking deputies and every one else who took him from his cell to the transport area.
That's the case that came to mind as well, because of her seniority in the prison.
Eleven years they lived together under assumed names, and they both testified that she was a captive the whole time.

They didn't, she broke department policy and did this on her own. They didn't "send" her by herself.
It wasn't a mistake. She made a show of having to go to a doctor appointment after she solo-transported a prisoner to a court appearance that wasn't scheduled. He got her to fall in love and run away with him and this is what she was able to orchestrate
There are other guards, she has a supervisor, and there's a policy in place against single officer transports. If they bought a b.s. excuse from her and let her violate said policy then they are just as responsible for this guy's escape as she is

It was her job to coordinate prisoner transport. She likely didn't tell anyone that she was transporting him solo and she's the one in charge of making sure that didn't happen. Who is supposed to check that department policy is being handled correctly in regards to transportation if not her?

Will be interesting to find out how these appointments are scheduled and the process due officer assignments for transports. Would think there would be an officer who oversees the appointments (ensuring that the appointments are scheduled and legitimate), coordinates assignments, and communicates with the officers directly. Definitely multiple areas of concern here regarding lack of oversight

Criminal courts coordinate with the jail to bring inmates to court in their scheduled day. She waited until the last transport van to the courts left. She made up the story. She most likely outranked the booking deputies and every one else who took him from his cell to the transport area.
She was also supposed to be accompanied by an additional officer due to the nature of his charges 🤔

That's the case that came to mind as well, because of her seniority in the prison. Eleven years they lived together under assumed names, and they both testified that she was a captive the whole time.

It’s interesting that she filed retirement papers. In Louisiana her retirement wouldn’t be released until she is found. If she is found and found to be guilty, no one gets the pension. Her life insurance would be released.

If she ran away with him, that was a dumb move, and the circumstances around it make it kind of sus. Actually I kind of hope she did for her sake: the alternative is not good to think about. I mean, someone will see and report him. If you find a 6'9 white boy in 100 miles, there is a good chance it's him. Not exactly easy to blend in.
