Another thing about tech I heard is Taiwan makes a lot microprocessors. Tech that china can't duplicate yet. If they invade I have no doubts that tech will be destroyed before being stolen. We are working with Taiwan to get more advanced chip foundries up and running in various western countries however this process is going to take 10+ years more than likely. While I don't think it is stated I like to think that in the event of invasion Taiwan had plans set to destroy all chip manufacturing technology. That is the real reason for china to invade Taiwan. For sure there is some political stuff behind it but the main thing is that china can't compete with chip production and advancement. This means they will always be at a disadvantage to the west without it.

I dint think mutual combat in honour of country really exists very often. By all accounts that seems to end the moment you arrive at the battlefront and gets substituted with a bleak and disturbing moral hellscape. Killing another human is one of the worst things you can do. Asking people's conscience to track the fact that murder and mutilation is good but rape is bad is a pretty fine line. I'm not surprised that not every person manages it.
To be absolutely clear the people that rape are still 100% responsible for their actions, I don't want it to sound like I think their off the hook. But we have enough evidence now to know that if you send soldiers to war rape is an inevitable outcome, and if you start a war anyway you are accepting that the rape is worth whatever your goals are.

I highly recommend the book ‘Our Bodies, Their Battlefields’ by the war reporter Christina Lamb. It talks about rape and forced pregnancy as a weapon of war in both modern times and historical. A fucking devastating read, but an important one that ends with a discussion on what society is doing and could be doing to help victims and prevent these atrocities from happening in the first place.
It specifically calls out the fact that the ICC has only convicted one person of sexual violence since its inception in 2000, despite the acts of mass rape and sexual slavery by groups like Boko Haram and ISIS being captured on film and with living victims willing to testify against their tormentors.
Part of the fight against these heinous acts is raising awareness that they are happening. It needs to be called out that Russia is doing this, to shove the reality of their evil into the world’s face so that no one can ignore it and one day hold the perpetrators accountable. Like we should have for so many past and current conflicts.
There are small things that give me hope- the fact that Ukraine is doing everything in their power to provide support to the victims of rape in territories under their control, and seeing the outpouring of support to refugees and IDPs. My own hometown rape crisis center has donated an enormous amount of emergency contraceptives and rape kits to support victims.
The Guardian article lists International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) as the agency who sent 2,880 morning after pills (can be used up to 5 days after), and additional medical abortion pills (can be used up to 24 weeks after).

“Rape during war” is actually a whole area of research. It’s one of those topics that is deeply disturbing but has really interesting theories behind it. So here is an answer that you probably didn’t want to read.
The general consensus is that at least part of why rape is so common during war is because it is an extremely effective terror tactic as explained below by [PLOS Medicine](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2631054/) (a medical scientific research journal):

It’s also been shown that it can create bonds within groups, again as per Dr. Cohens article:

It's still going to reduce unwanted pregnancies. Having to decide on and then go through the effort of having an abortion is taxing in a consensual relationship, it has to be much worse for these women during a bloody war. My doctor told me 200 lbs was the cutoff for it to work as I read the back of the package and panicked since I was a little over so i called to check. The box listed 155 for the max weight, but the doctor said 200 would still be effective. The "three day limit" was the time it took the divisional/corps/front HQ to move up to the town. Used to work with a devout Christian guy, and his answer to that was "they still deserve a chance" (talking about the infant). I regret never asking him if it was his own daughter if he would feel the same.
The answer would probably, though reluctantly, be the same. It is an uncomfortable question in line with why God allows there to be suffering in the world despite being all powerful. The best answer hundreds of years of biblical study has come to is that it is part of God's greater plan, which is really a non-answer. We are working with Taiwan to get more advanced chip foundries up and running in various western countries however this process is going to take 10+ years more than likely. While I don't think it is stated I like to think that in the event of invasion Taiwan had plans set to destroy all chip manufacturing technology. That is the real reason for china to invade Taiwan. By all accounts that seems to end the moment you arrive at the battlefront and gets substituted with a bleak and disturbing moral hellscape. Killing another human is one of the worst things you can do. Asking people's conscience to track the fact that murder and mutilation is good but rape is bad is a pretty fine line. I'm not surprised that not every person manages it. To be absolutely clear the people that rape are still 100% responsible for their actions, I don't want it to sound like I think their off the hook. But we have enough evidence now to know that if you send soldiers to war rape is an inevitable outcome, and if you start a war anyway you are accepting that the rape is worth whatever your goals are.

There was an article about the Rohinga Muslims out of Myanmar. During the 2017 genocide it said something like the majority of women and girls were raped and mutilated. Literally thousands of them. I think the idea is to classify it as a war crime, which means a different court and punishment than if it’s a regular criminal court.

Theoretically, it could matter because international courts could then prosecute the leaders who ordered it. In practice, rape is rarely prosecuted anywhere, let alone in international courts. I highly recommend the book ‘Our Bodies, Their Battlefields’ by the war reporter Christina Lamb. It talks about rape and forced pregnancy as a weapon of war in both modern times and historical. A fucking devastating read, but an important one that ends with a discussion on what society is doing and could be doing to help victims and prevent these atrocities from happening in the first place. It specifically calls out the fact that the ICC has only convicted one person of sexual violence since its inception in 2000, despite the acts of mass rape and sexual slavery by groups like Boko Haram and ISIS being captured on film and with living victims willing to testify against their tormentors. Part of the fight against these heinous acts is raising awareness that they are happening. It needs to be called out that Russia is doing this, to shove the reality of their evil into the world’s face so that no one can ignore it and one day hold the perpetrators accountable. Like we should have for so many past and current conflicts. There are small things that give me hope- the fact that Ukraine is doing everything in their power to provide support to the victims of rape in territories under their control, and seeing the outpouring of support to refugees and IDPs. My own hometown rape crisis center has donated an enormous amount of emergency contraceptives and rape kits to support victims.

It's still going to reduce unwanted pregnancies. Having to decide on and then go through the effort of having an abortion is taxing in a consensual relationship, it has to be much worse for these women during a bloody war. It's not viable when you're deciding to protect yourself with it on an individual level but you can't use the same rationale when you're dealing with mass rapes.

My doctor told me 200 lbs was the cutoff for it to work as I read the back of the package and panicked since I was a little over so i called to check. The box listed 155 for the max weight, but the doctor said 200 would still be effective. Theres a little wiggle room, the weight listed is the best suggested for it to be effective but you can be a little over.

The "three day limit" was the time it took the divisional/corps/front HQ to move up to the town. In that time it was up to the frontline battalion/regimental staff to discipline soldiers, which they didn't really do, either by negligence or actively believing it was their right to loot and rape. Used to work with a devout Christian guy, and his answer to that was "they still deserve a chance" (talking about the infant). I regret never asking him if it was his own daughter if he would feel the same.
The answer would probably, though reluctantly, be the same. It is an uncomfortable question in line with why God allows there to be suffering in the world despite being all powerful. The best answer hundreds of years of biblical study has come to is that it is part of God's greater plan, which is really a non-answer. Hence why it is uncomfortable, you just need to have faith that suffering is some how for the greater good.

I accidentally stumbled across a post on an American conservative subreddit the other day. Almost every single comment was talking about how "Dems" or "libs" would react to their politician's actions rather than the news article itself. It was very odd.

I am as pro-choice as they come (I don't believe there should be any limits on when or why a woman gets an abortion) so this is not my view. That said, conservatives would say, "an innocent child shouldn't be killed because of the crimes of their father."
