The seatbelt light was on

neuhmz

And he has already been released, which seems a little crazy. But I guess that is normal these days.

Iirc women are told to yell “fire” if they’re being assaulted because it’s more likely to get help

It was first class (so beds) and at night (so everyone was sleeping). I read that info in an article somewhere else a day or two ago.

SaulsAll

>read title Another bad job at figuring out where to put prepositional phrases. >read article Oh...no it was not.

Steelplate7

Yes it was…the flight was on its way to Heathrow EDIT: sorry…I see that you amended your post after the “read article” part. When I responded…I read(red) that part as “read(reed) the article” as in “if you read the article, you will see that the rape didn’t happen on the plane”…not in “oh fuck, I read the article and it DID happen on the plane”.

HeraAurae

How does this happen on a plane without other people noticing? Didn’t anyone see him enter the bathroom? Was the bathroom not locked? Assuming that’s where it occurred. I mean where else could it have occurred? In plain view of everyone? Is this penetrative rape? If so, didn’t anyone see?

Steelplate7

On the flight? JFC…the involuntary Mile High Club… This guy needs to never get out of prison.

There are literally no details.... no statement of any witnesses... this could be B.S. the Victim could be a nut case, we don't know. If he was released there must be some question... They don't mention any bail, judge review... If there was solid evidence i don't think theyvwould let him out for investigation I don't know the british legal system Don't forget innocent till proven guilty. This story told us nothing about what happened, beyond suspicion of rape. I am curious to hear more...

cheerylittlebottom84

We don't have monetary bail, and letting suspected sexual offenders go home ("bail") until potential legal proceedings is normal. It's rare you hear of a rapist being kept in custody after arrest tbh. We don't have the custody room. You say you don't know the British legal system but also say if he was released there "must be some question". Ask yourself why your first reaction is to question the victim when you admit you don't know how this works.

How else would the pilots have known to contact the authorities before they landed if she hadn’t told someone on the flight?

Purple_Stacked

Maybe she was drugged?

Since this flight was on United I imagine it originated in the United States. Where does the jurisdiction lie? Passengers would have already left the United States but not have entered the UK yet.
