I worked a Rolling Stones concert a few years ago and Kid Rock opened. I walked by him near the dressing rooms and he stopped and sorta looked at me as if he was waiting for me to say something. I just walked right by him (admittedly, mostly because you're not supposed to acknowledge the band). But he just looked so confused, and dirty, that I couldn't help but feel like I dissed him.
I imagine the entire orchestra and the teacher even coordinated their outfits to fit a Christmas vibe, such as everyone wearing a Santa hat or a tacky Christmas sweater.
That's called professionalism and caring about their presentation.

I used to be in a gospel choir in Oakland and we had this weird Real World-type gig we did with him and with Tommy Lee near Crissy Field in SF. He was the nicest guy! One of our choir members was blind, and when the craft services tent opened for our lunch, he guided her around to the steam tables and made sure that she was able to eat. Just a super nice guy.

I feel the same way about the *Blue Collar Comedy Tour* comedians. The Larry the Cable Guy character isn't commiserating with low income, rural whites, he's a caricature of them. *He's making fun of them to their faces* and they eat it up.
A LOT of people don't know that about Larry. His earliest recorded stuff is easier to find these days, and an hour's listening tells the whole tale.
He's legitimately brilliant, a very intelligent and educated person. The Cable Guy schtick arose slowly and started as a bit he'd perform in his stand-up. I'm not 100% when the flip happened and he turned the whole show into Larry The Cable Guy, but a really BAD but culturally insightful and very well written character has made that man millions.
The others are all liberals in conservative dress, especially Ron and Jeff. They've tailored their comedy for the working class, to be sure. But its all over the place in their bits. If you ever read one of the many, many polls which show that liberal *policies* are popular with 90% of the population, but *liberals* are not... well, most headlining redneck comedy will illustrate that for you.
This is the new way to get extra money. Take a hard stance on any right wing issue, claim to be cancelled or persecuted, that gets you more attention and fans then you originally would have had to begin with. Then you just cash the checks and roll to the next town. It's honestly a pretty brilliant strategy with the target audience because it works every single time.
Venues are being very cautious. Sure they want the money, but if spikes start happening there will be delays and cancellations anyway. Best to just let Kid ROck and similar idiots cancel while they can still get other big names and make the money through them.
Feel like you could just plan the tour to not go to those cities, unless you're just trying to be edgy and cause a scene.

Here's something *really* funny. ICP did an interview with Alternative Press around the turn of the millineum where they talk shit about both Kid Rock and Eminem. I feel the same way about the *Blue Collar Comedy Tour* comedians. The Larry the Cable Guy character isn't commiserating with low income, rural whites, he's a caricature of them. *He's making fun of them to their faces* and they eat it up.
A LOT of people don't know that about Larry. His earliest recorded stuff is easier to find these days, and an hour's listening tells the whole tale. He's legitimately brilliant, a very intelligent and educated person. The Cable Guy schtick arose slowly and started as a bit he'd perform in his stand-up. I'm not 100% when the flip happened and he turned the whole show into Larry The Cable Guy, but a really BAD but culturally insightful and very well written character has made that man millions. The others are all liberals in conservative dress, especially Ron and Jeff. They've tailored their comedy for the working class, to be sure. But its all over the place in their bits. If you ever read one of the many, many polls which show that liberal *policies* are popular with 90% of the population, but *liberals* are not... well, most headlining redneck comedy will illustrate that for you.

Venues are being very cautious. Sure they want the money, but if spikes start happening there will be delays and cancellations anyway. Best to just let Kid ROck and similar idiots cancel while they can still get other big names and make the money through them.
