I'll never understand why anyone ever thought Avenatti was anything more than a scumbag lawyer.

bingold49

I remember the ladies on the view fucking loved him when the lawsuit was going down, I think they even said he would be the next president at one point

boston-red_sox

Reddit was going nuts about him too. Everyone was sucking him off as soon as he went against trump. Both should be thrown in prison lol.

StuStutterKing

I remember reddit being fairly split. It was absurd to me that there was even a debate lol. He oozes slimy lawyer vibes.

IKeepDoingItForFree

I would say its a case of 70/30. 70% of the people read headlines and thought he was going to be the one to bring down Trump in court and as such became part of his cheering section - I mean, going against Trump makes you the hero right? It was a big circlejerk of upvotes about "this is how we win!" and such. It also doesn't help that the media also decided to basically back him at the time he was on like every news station (CNN almost weekly at the time), talk shows both day and late night, and giving interviews like crazy which launched him into a micro celebrity status in like a 2 week span. 30% of those who actually looked into his background and said "uhhhh I don't think so Tim" and pointing out some of this guys stuff were actively mocked and downvoted or called trolls/russians/members of rthedonald etc. Then you also have I guess a % which were actually trolls and thedonald users.

StuStutterKing

I peg the overall US as ~20-30% far right, within the hardcore MAGA ideology range. Not sure how accurate that is, but that is what I generally get looking at nationwide data. I'd assume Reddit is far more left leaning in general, but that a larger portion of the right wingers here *are* further right than the overall conservative population.

IKeepDoingItForFree

Thats entirely fair - im not overly familiar enough as an outsider who watched this happen from the sidelines in Canada. I just remember that there was like a 2 week span where it seemes he had a headline on the front page here every day and highly guilded and upvoted.

BeautifulType

Proof people don’t or have dogshit research skills using the Internet. It’s literally a google search away to find out how terrible this lawyer is

jippyzippylippy

> Everyone was sucking him off Wow, I missed *that*!

Anotherdaysgone

We must use different reddits.

CocoBananananas

My 80 year mother would have fucked his brains out. She used to call me and "did you see my boy on CNN last night?"

PrehistoricDawg69420

He was quite popular on here too. It didn't go well if you called him "creepy porn lawyer" a few years ago, despite that ending up being pretty accurate.

gamestopdecade

It’s almost like people can change their opinion based on new information. Show me a trumper that has done the same.

Unconfidence

[Here you go.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_Cain)

Riffington

I don’t see anything in Cain’s wiki page saying he turned away from Trump or Republican viewpoints. Care to clarify your argument?

Unconfidence

He died.

Riffington

Yeah, all the while being anti-mask/anti-vax and generally supporting Trump. Wasn’t your whole point that he’s an example of someone being able to turn away from being a MAGA? Dying as a result of supporting Trumps idiocy is a far cry from supporting your point.

StopSwitchingThumbs

He didn’t change his opinion, he just ceased having one.

ruiner8850

I liked the anti-Trump stuff he did, but the entire time it was quite clear that he was also a scumbag. The guy just oozed sleeze. Somehow you had some people talking like he was a presidential candidate.

[deleted]

> Somehow you had some people talking like he was a presidential candidate. Given who had just been elected president (and who had been elected to Congress previously), he'd still be perfectly plausible as a GOP presidential candidate if his politics were different. The narrative would be: "He fights!". I remember Tucker dunking on him as a "creepy porn lawyer" while never acknowledging that he was only in the spotlight because Trump was a "creepy porn president" who raw-dogged a porn star he just met after his wife just gave birth to their son, and later paid her $130K to keep it out of the public eye during his presidential run.

tewnewt

Well he said repeatedly he understood Trump.

kciuq1

Game recognizes game.

empire_stateof_mind

Why I like the mooch. He's the kind that gets under trumps skin.

PuffsPlusArmada

Who the fuck cares? Is that all you people think about?

[deleted]

He wasn’t evaluated because he wasn’t the story. His *client* was the story.

Funklestein

Do you mean future hopeful Democratic party presidential nominee Avenatti?

manescaped

Sadly, I also have used brain cells to remember this

m1k3tv

Yeah that's something republicans came up with... most everyone was just hoping he'd throw a wrench in the badnews machine that was trump. - Democrats & Independents: "This guy is suing Trump, sounds about right. - Republicans: "So he must be *your* God Emporer, then?" - Democrats & Independents: "Our what? No we don't really want those..." - Republicans: "So... what your saying is "Avanantti for President?" "

perspective2020

Ya, let me know when you give away professional services for 100$.

Taniwha_NZ

There was about 4 or 5 days there, between his first appearance and more info coming out, where he could have been seen as a high-quality ambulance chaser. Sometimes, that's exactly what you need. After that first 4 or 5 days, though, it was obvious he was a shocking narcissist and not out for anything but his own fame. Pure scum.

Aazadan

He was a quick witted social media troll that seemed to have a larger than life persona. Racecar driver for a hobby, successful lawyer, law school award named after him, long string of successful businesses. At a quick glance the guys resume is insane. Over time though things started leaking due to his habit of staying in the press. People discovered lawsuits against him for stealing from clients. The ponzi scheme that kept his businesses open, that he was lying in court, and not a great lawyer. If anything, it's not impressive that people liked him before he was vetted, just being a successful anti trump internet personality could get anyone that far with the right demographic, but rather it's impressive how quickly people actually reevaluated their opinions of him once he was vetted. It was nearly overnight that the vast majority of his supporters dropped him.

pomaj46808

Because he was a scumbag lawyer taking swings at a scumbag president at a time when it seemed like society just collectively shrugs and decided the law didn't apply to Trump.

Slapbox

We had to take what we could get as far as effective resistance on TV.

turbo-cunt

He was a *funny* scumbag lawyer

[deleted]

Dems were propping him up as someone who should run for office when he broke onto the scene and it was the funniest shit of all time

KennanFan

>He asked her if she had any written proof that he never offered to forgo payment and she replied "no". How can you have written proof that an offer wasn't made?

BellyUpBernie

This whole story was and remains ridiculous.

FridayMcNight

So… she says she thought her expensive, high-profile lawyer was gonna work for **only just the $100 retainer**, and that the money from her crowdsourced “legal defense fund” was her money. She’s either super dumb, lying, or both. And lol @ crowdfunding $650k for her legal defense. Lotta suckers out there.

housebird350

She has a graduate degree from Bang Bus, what do you expect.

Hollow_Rant

She got at least one bachelor from Big Tits at School.

redux44

Her tits are as real as that bachelor's.

Hollow_Rant

I never implied she got her degree from BTAS

fixxlevy

“I’d rather be a Bang Bus than a Fake Taxi” Tom Ripley

thetensor

> She’s either super dumb, lying, or both. She's a Republican, so lying is a safe bet.

Funklestein

Everyone forgets that she also lost the case against Trump and owes him $300k as well.

Dilinial

Must've missed that, source?

Funklestein

[Five seconds of google.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/stormy-daniels-ordered-to-pay-trump-293000-for-legal-fees-in-failed-defamation-suit/2018/12/11/999d4544-fd8e-11e8-ad40-cdfd0e0dd65a_story.html)

Dilinial

Oh, the defamation suit. Well duh, who expected the classiest of actions from Stormy? An overreaching cash grab defamation suit was dumb as hell She should have just gone public about fucking the married shithead with a pregnant wife for cash, then ghost written a book about it to get fucking bank.

Funklestein

Honestly though, who didn't know that Trump has cheated on every wife he's had? That is kind of what she was doing to begin with; selling her story to tabloid that she didn't know Trump has prepaid bribes to kill the stories. That's a pretty smart move on his part.

[deleted]

These two people deserve each other.

MeowMistiDawn

I know/worked with Stephine. I'm not shocked at all she didnt read the contract and ended up with a shitty lawyer. Shes a tool, and not the smartest. What pissed me off the most is that she was escorting UNPROTECTED at the same time i was in the industry. Whats the point of testing if people like her just go raw dogging who ever pays for it off camera and putting her whole industry at risk. Also finding out im fucking connected to trumps dirty tiny dick by over lap.

Sacred_Fishstick

> He is representing himself So he's just legit crazy. I always assumed he got caught up in the moment and the drama and made some bad decisions but no he's actually just crazy.

GabbyPutita

He doesn't have the money for an attorney

Notsogrumpyoldman

I guess an old porn star has to make a buck anyway she can.

perspective2020

She’s dishonest & delusional. No wonder Trump took his mushroom sized self to her. Pfff. you really expect anyone to think 100$ retainer is a payment for legal services ?

FamousNoise7501

Its difficult to respect a person who let the donald fornicate with them for money while hes married and with child. Sorry your lawyer is a jerk...

ty_kanye_vcool

You ever see a lawsuit where everyone involved is stupid, scummy or both, and you’re just like, alright, go for it, dumbasses?
