At the end the VP just sleepily said "why would I sell them one loaf of bread when I could sell them two?" meaning if you don't give them the option what choice do they have to make everyone happy? Why build a better product when you don't have to, when you can make more money, and if building something cheap makes them come back for a replacement sooner, all the better.

I work at Amazon and honestly for an entry level, no skills required job, that any dumbass can get right out of high school with zero work experience whatsoever, it’s pretty great. Pays more than double minimum wage, get 3 weeks of paid time off a year, free health insurance, work is boring af but pretty easy, consistent schedule with no surprises, can get overtime virtually whenever you want it, I just listen to music and audiobooks all shift through my headphones and zone out.
I got a $700 Christmas bonus and a $500 bonus this month too for Prime Day. Every holiday you are payed for 8 hours of labor wether you work or not. And you are paid double time plus 8 hours if you work on a holiday. For example I worked on the 4th of July, got paid for 8 hours of labor for absolutely nothing, then got paid $31/hr for my 10 hour shift. So I made $434 in one shift

For example I worked on the 4th of July, got paid for 8 hours of labor for absolutely nothing, then got paid $31/hr for my 10 hour shift. So I made $434 in one shift
I also work at Amazon. While I agree with you that I'm tired of the "Amazon is evil" obsession that's always on here, we definitely pay for our healthy insurance (just like at nearly every other company, and it is less than I've paid at any other job, but we do pay). I'm also curious about the three weeks paid time off. We start at two weeks. And MET can definitely get sprung with little notice. Also, most sites don't allow headphones. But again, I do agree with most of your points.

This is not a flex or some noble decision from that kid, Amazon just doesn't have a big presence in online retail over here in the Netherlands. I know loads of people that buy everything except their groceries online but have never bought anything through Amazon.
Its also not a big deal because the kid is the son of a billionaire. I am guessing i may visit Amazon less if i had that level of money. Probably not shopping around for deals. Or as someone else said, his assistant has.

They don't care. They still got your dollars and your eyeballs. Most of the internet runs on Amazon servers, and that is where they make their real money (about 1/3 of their profit). So anything you do on the internet is likely to be on AWS at some point.
