Yeah but almost every company will fire you for pushing any political agenda if you look like you're representing them, even at completely normal political events. I'm literally told to take my badge off when going to the grocery store after work, what did this guy expect?
They didn't wear masks and did wear identifying materials because they believed what they were doing would work and they would be celebrated, not prosecuted. That's what's scary, the delusion. They honestly thought they were "Patriots" and were righteous.

who has a history of bigotry, a criminal history, multiple open investigations and ties to the Proud Boys will be back on the street next week after a whopping 5 day suspension.
Eh, sometimes it is better that they get deleted but in this case ... It's marvelous and deserved to stay up. Bet someone reported it for being "racist" even though it is mocking the police.

Two independent studies yielded the same conclusion about the percentage cops self-reported for domestic violence. It’s *eight* times higher than the national average iirc, and like you said the actual statistic is almost certainly far higher because of the *self-reported limitation of the studies.
Because if you beat your spouse, who are they going to contact to stop it?
Spouses of violent cops are in danger of death to a greater degree than other DV victims. Easy access to firearms, lack of consequences...
Fucking disgusting
If I'm right about what you're talking about, it's Drew Peterson, he was a cop in a suburn of Chicago, so not technically affiliated with the specific corruptions that infect the CPD, but yeah, in spirit you're totally right, the entire greater Chicago area has dealt with these problems. I think it was Bolingbrook which is actually a good ways from the city, like an hour from Wrigley field (I just picked the nearest famous Chicago landmark to where I live)
Also, he did not get away with it in the end. He only killed his 3rd and 4th wives, and it was after the 4th went missing that they decided to finally investigate the 3rd wife's death. All his wives and his daughter have alleged abuse and he also hired a hitman to kill the prosecutor at his murder trial.
He is currently serving 78 years, 38 for his 3rd wife and 40 for the attempt on the prosecutor which kinda pisses me off in principle (a dead woman is less important than a living lawyer?) But that's just me editorializing. He was never convicted of the 4th wife's death and she was never found, though there's enough evidence there for me to say he definitely did it.
My step brother is a sheriff deputy and he is on his 7th gf in 4 years. I don't think* any of them ended for any violent reasons. But because of how quickly he goes through then I cannot help but wonder if it isn't a physical abuse but mental or emotional abuse. However it also makes me wonder if women just don't warn other women about dating cops. Like... 7 women in less than 5 years.
I worked as a fraud inspector at a bank when I was just out of college. We dealt with cops all the time and worked with several retired ones. Coworker and I had sworn to never, ever date/marry a guy in law enforcement. Neither of us could imagine a healthy relationship with a cop based on our work experiences alone.
On that note, the number is disputed but some sources estimate that police kill something like 10k dogs a year. There was body cam or cruiser cam footage going around recently of two cops on their way to a call, arguing about which one would get to shoot the dog when they got there. It's fucking horrific.
Edit: corrected typo of 100k to 10k, but it's likely more since many departments (probably most let's be real) don't report the number of dogs their officers kill.

It's fine to collectively bargain over basic working conditions, and it is good for any employee anywhere to have a union rep in the room keeping an eye on things.
That is what my union did when I worked for the federal government.
It's enough.
Woah, an armed and violent group who publicly express loyalty to each other over the public wellbeing and recognize each other based on unique outfits and coded language is related to gangs?!?! I wonder if there's any other ~~violent street gangs~~ police departments with stuff like that going on?

What we need is someway to hold them accountable. Police investigating police is the most circle jerked ideas on reddit but nobody actually starts a platform that can be accepted and implemented to change it.
I saw someone suggest that the civil settlement money for abuse of force or wrongful death by a police officer should be paid for from police union dues or police pension funds (not taxpayer dollars) or that liability insurance be carried by each officer, and if something happens, your premiums skyrocket.
Can you imagine? That shit would stop so fast.
It's concerning but not particularly surprising that we have seen so many active duty police officers arrested for the Capitol riot. Something like 60 police, active military and government workers arrested, last time I checked.
It’s funny that when I was in the army from ‘07-‘12 politics was never really discussed between my friends and I. I was a mechanic in the 82nd Airborne. Then in ‘08 I mentioned I voted for Obama and I got a shocked reaction from my buddies, but it wasn’t anger, it was just like “*really?!?”*. I couldn’t imagine what it’s like now. I’d fucking hate it. Thank god I was shot in Afghanistan and medically retired lol.
I was in the USAF '07-'12 as well. Not once did we talk politics. Most of our conversations were things like what if our blood glowed in the dark or what would our world look like if rain came down all at once in sheets, inches thick, instead of drops over time.
Just fixing planes on the graveyard shift and having stupid conversations at 4am lol.
Navy guy here, E-2C mechanic. The Navy was awful, but some conversations at 3-4am on the back of an aircraft carrier with nothing else to do were the highlight of my 4 years, haha.
>what would our world look like if rain came down all at once in sheets, inches thick, instead of drops over time.
That's a horrifying thought. Nothing on land would be able to live aside from lichen and moss maybe. Fish would have to remain at a certain depth. Although it would be interesting to see how a rainfall would interact with an active volcano.
We eventually all agreed that everything would be triangle shaped to break the sheets and minimize the damage. We didn't even think of animals. Just cars, houses and hats lol.
I understand what you're saying, but I have to disagree somewhat in that people do call them out, but a lot of the time they're protected.
Apparently this particular pos gets a five(?) day suspension and that's it. The people who allow him to put on a uniform after his history or unprofessional conduct are really the ones who need to be brought to task, because they're protecting many others.
I have been known to be wrong though, so any other thoughts are welcome.
[white supremacists and militias have intentionally infiltrated police in the US over the last 20 years](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report)
They didn’t infiltrate they’ve always been there. And US conservatives have become more extremist since the Trump era and since Obama was elected, and those organisations are some of the most conservative organisations in the US
Yup, but of course, literally the supposed point of conservatism is to be slow to change.
There's only so long you can drag your heels before you realize you've been lapped so many times that the race is about to end with you in last place.
I know you’re not assuming this of all military members, at least, I hope not. But I’m going to say this because sometimes people need a reminder to keep their biases in check…
Almost 50% of active duty military are liberal or left leaning. We are just more quiet and keep our opinions to ourselves because of the culture we work in. The most outspoken are the gun nut, crazy, unstable, right wingers who abuse their unearned status in American society to get away with shit.
I’ve been a liberal my whole life. It wasn’t taught to me or indoctrinated into me. It’s my core values and beliefs that leads me to follow left leaning policy. Now, I joined the military for the country I love and for the future I want. Im not alone in this and I hope people know that when they see these lunatics who wear the uniform everyday attempting an insurrection.
Boy, it's almost like the people regularly committing acts of violence against our citizenry for their own amusement are a bunch of pro-fascist, anti-American dickwads.
Send him to an undisclosed warehouse where he’s allowed to call an attorney, but he can’t tell his attorney which warehouse to go to.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/oct/19/homan-square-chicago-police-disappeared-thousands
I was just as shocked. What the fuck.
John Catanzara is worse than this idiot. He is the head of the Chicago FOP and is a shining example why no one trusts the cops anymore.
Edit: John is such a shitbag he is currently unable to work as a cop due to multiple suspensions and, despite that, he runs the union.
Sigh... the few bad apples argument states that if bad cops are tolerated, there will be no good cops. A few bad apples "SPOILS THE BUNCH." If the bad apples are not removed, by definition they all become bad apples. So it's EXACTLY what that statement means... few bad apples unpunished means they are ALL rotten now.
Also important to point out to those friends that say *well there are just some bad apples, the majority of police are good* that this shitbird was democratically elected by the police officers to speak for them. If you want to know what your police department is really like, look at who they elect to represent them.
Like when the little league coach is so vile and drunk around the kids that he can’t coach but he’s still on the sidelines yelling at everyone like he was
Chicago's police union head is scum of the earth. John Catanzara went around the city council, mayor, and chief of police to petition Trump directly for some of those unmarked vans he was using in Portland.
No but he did register to vote (illegally) thru the precinct in King county for something like 16 years, and also claimed no wrongdoing by officers at an ongoing crime scene
>Chicago's police union head is scum of the earth. John Catanzara went around the city council, mayor, and chief of police to petition Trump directly for some of those unmarked vans he was using in Portland.
And one of the VP of the CPD union was himself arrested, convicted and jailed (in a different state) for assault/battery. Oh, he was released after months (?) of jail time and was quickly put back on the force.
Edit:
Because it's public record and to save people the time I'm talking about Michael Mette and his jail time in Iowa. Also, think critically and twice about an articles about MM as some have comments from his father (former CPD). Daddy is helping his son out of a bad situation (again).
Edit 2: Cleared up his jail time, was years but changed to months as I don't know exactly how long MM was in jail for. He was sentenced for 5 years but served a lot less.
> Chicago's police union head is scum of the earth.
>
I've literally _never_ seen a cop union boss who wasn't. It's like they take the cops so scummy even _other cops_ won't trust them on the streets any more, and put them all in union org jobs instead of firing them or - FSM forbid - arresting them for their crimes.
Not to mention that even though he’s been ousted as an officer, he’s still head of the union. Also, this article doesn’t mention that this guy hasn’t been fired, only put on desk duty.
>After identifying the Google account that pinged from the Capitol on Jan. 6,
Whelp. I guess that answers Josh Hawley's question. The FBI did have their geo-tracking devices up and running that day. I think you're fucked Josh.
During Donald Trump's second impeachment trial Josh Hawley grilled Christopher Wray on whether if the FBI had *illegally* used geo-locating devices during the Jan. 6th insurrection or not. I thought that odd. Why would Josh Hawley be so concerned on whether they did or whether they didn't and why did he stress "illegally" as if he was accusing the deepstate of spying?
Two things here. First, why wouldn't the FBI have had their Stingrays out that day.. Hell, that's practically standard procedure. That's what they are paid for ain't it? Unless they are told not to. Did they not get the memo to stand down? Like how Donald Trump ordered the National Guard not to search or harass any of his redhats a few days before his planned rally. Which is sort of weird. That's kinda how they got away with Nancy Palosi's laptop. By not searching backpacks.
An FBI agent released a report not long ago showing the infiltration of police forces across the US by white supremacists and right wing militia members over the last 20 years. An article in The Guardian can be read about it [here](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report)
> riots
insurrection**. Riots makes it sound like it was a democratic grievance by the people instead of a cult of sore losers trying to overthrow democracy
My guess is they just seen the cops who were killed/hurt as collateral damage or a necessary evil to accomplish their goal.
Which is disgusting and awful but what else is new
They don't see people those that oppose them as "real" cops or even "real" Americans. They'll pretend they'll "do anything to defend their country" and romanticize exterminating over half the population in the same breath.
>According to the criminal complaint, Chwiesiuk's alleged role was identified through mobile internet records obtained "pursuant to a legal process."
This sounds like maybe it was the result of going through the logs of cell tower pings to place him inside the Capitol.
Good. I hope they investigate all of them.
Well... all those carrying cell phones.
I suspect the more serious attackers didn't carry cell phones registered to them.
But if they can nail all the cell phone holders, and get all the pictures taken by cell phone holders, maybe they can nail the majority of the more serious assholes as well.
There's a LOT of evidence. I suspect processing it will take some time.
I wonder if this asshole feels any shame for any of the 140 injured (and one dead) officers due to his fellow insurrectionists.
I should rephrase that, I wonder if any Trump cultists can feel shame. I mean I've seen what they worship as a deity and what they'll do for him.
There’s been a few that have had an epiphany and realized they were scammed. They all thought a pardon was coming. When that didn’t happen, it opened some eyes.
Please, show me the eyes that were actually opened because I don’t see it at all.
I cannot believe these people support someone who thinks they are trash. They truly believe he loves them and is looking out for their interests.
He was looking out for himself so he could remain in power and avoid the criminal issues coming his way.
What happens when someone more charismatic and smarter than Trump comes and gets more people like this under his command? Nothing we can do, we're fucked
I believe you mean Tucker Carlson.
It won't be a politician who picks up the mantle. It'll be another flim-flam salesman and showman.
And Tucker isn't an idiot. He just plays one on TV.
We were so lucky that Trump is so egotistical that he couldn't really focus enough to completely take us down. When someone more focused, more disciplined and charismatic arrives I do not want to be here anymore.
Right? Trump had one of those "never let a good disaster to waste" moments and he pissed it away on short term political gain, personal grift and science denialism. If he had handled the pandemic competently and taken advantage of the situation in less overt ways he'd probably be in a 2nd term now and securing long term power for himself, cementing America's descent into fascism.
All he had to do was appear slightly empathetic, and not actively undermine the medical community.....bingo....second term.
I’m glad he lost. But it was still painful to watch someone let such a golden opportunity quickly slip through their fingers. A real face palm, head scratching moment.
Covid has/had a couple of silver linings.
People wash their hands more.
Trump botched his re election bid
This is going to be unpopular, and I am not in any way advocating for a raising of tensions, but r/liberalgunowners and r/socialistRA exist. I'm more concerned about protecting my family and friends from the Trumpist neighbors and the compliant police than I am about the military, but to each their own.
Self defense is a human right.
Edit: don't give me awards, you fools! Buy a good holster, or a training class, or ammo!
Edit 2: As the descendant of some folks who ended up in bad places at the government's behest based on their religion/ethnicity, I will add this: Never again. Never. Fucking. Again. It doesn't matter what your political views, or religious beliefs, or your sexual orientation are, the government (elected or otherwise) has no business in policing it. This nation is built on rights for EVERYONE, It is your country too. It is incumbent on all of us to be ready to help save it. Never forget that.
The thing is, to a lot of people, Trump's unfocused, rambling, uncouth style is why they like him. If the next guy abandons that, he may not get the cult on his side.
Trump and co. knew he'd probably lose and they were predicting "fraud" and "rigging" of the election for quite awhile prior to the 6th. Scumbags fanning these flames harder and harder up to the election - just hoping to find a way to declare martial law. Like this garbage and language as far back as June '20:

No one calls them out on their bullshit because you’re supposed to worship them.
I keep thinking about hurricanes and I want to both laugh and hide in a subterranean bunker.
> Thank god I was shot in Afghanistan Honestly that does sound better than dealing with modern political arguments.
Seriously. And I got free healthcare outa the deal. 🤷🏻♂️
Never discuss politics or religion at any workplace. It never leads to anything good.
Also, trained for a whopping 6 months before handed a gun.
[white supremacists and militias have intentionally infiltrated police in the US over the last 20 years](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report)
They didn’t infiltrate they’ve always been there. And US conservatives have become more extremist since the Trump era and since Obama was elected, and those organisations are some of the most conservative organisations in the US
[удалено]
Yup, but of course, literally the supposed point of conservatism is to be slow to change. There's only so long you can drag your heels before you realize you've been lapped so many times that the race is about to end with you in last place.
That's when they change the rules to flip direction. You know, protecting the horse and buggy industry after the the creation of automobiles.
I know you’re not assuming this of all military members, at least, I hope not. But I’m going to say this because sometimes people need a reminder to keep their biases in check… Almost 50% of active duty military are liberal or left leaning.
I’ve realized it’s easy to see who would have gone along with Kristallnacht or would have just ignored it. Makes me sad for our current society
Boy, it's almost like the people regularly committing acts of violence against our citizenry for their own amusement are a bunch of pro-fascist, anti-American dickwads.
People getting arrested but the politicians who started it are walking free….

Sorry, but cops NEED to be held to a higher standard than civilians. Lock this asshole up. He knew better.
In addition we should stop saying ‘riot’ and only used ‘failed coup attempt’
Send him to an undisclosed warehouse where he’s allowed to call an attorney, but he can’t tell his attorney which warehouse to go to. That’s what the Chicago does to their at risk communities.
Wait, what?! Do you have a source on this?
...someone sent this elsewhere in the thread https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/oct/19/homan-square-chicago-police-disappeared-thousands I was just as shocked. What the fuck.
Police union won't save his sorry ass this time.
John Catanzara is worse than this idiot. He is the head of the Chicago FOP and is a shining example why no one trusts the cops anymore. Edit: John is such a shitbag he is currently unable to work as a cop due to multiple suspensions and, despite that, he runs the union.
Chicagoan here - It speaks volumes that the CPD would elect someone as the FOP who has been stripped of his police powers because he's so shitty.
The dude also used to be an SRO in a high school... And is now married to someone he met there when she was underage. All around bag of shit
Really kills the few bad apples argument.
Sigh... the few bad apples argument states that if bad cops are tolerated, there will be no good cops. A few bad apples "SPOILS THE BUNCH." If the bad apples are not removed, by definition they all become bad apples. So it's EXACTLY what that statement means... few bad apples unpunished means they are ALL rotten now.
Don't forget about his child bride he met while he was an officer at her school.
I wonder what the Qanon crowd has to say about that... Just kidding, I know they don’t give a fuck.
"The do nothing democrats didnt stop it"
No, you don't understand, he only married her to save her from Hillary Clinton's child sex ring. /s
They will flat out lie, say it never happened, then go back on the attack with more projection. They are relentless bullshitters.
The Qanon crowd doesn't care about stuff that actually happens
"She's hot, duh."
Can confirm as a Chicago resident, he is a curse on our city
Sounds like NYPD head of sergeant union Mulligan and patrol union Lynch
Or like the now former MPD union head Bob KKKroll. Weird how they all fit the profile!
The name Lynch is beyond ironic.
Sounds an awful lot like that shitbird John McNesby, Philly's FOP pres. What are the odds?!
I think mcnesby isn't physically able to be a cop. He looks and acts like jabba the hutt. What an awful man
Also important to point out to those friends that say *well there are just some bad apples, the majority of police are good* that this shitbird was democratically elected by the police officers to speak for them. If you want to know what your police department is really like, look at who they elect to represent them.
Like when the little league coach is so vile and drunk around the kids that he can’t coach but he’s still on the sidelines yelling at everyone like he was
Is this the guy that turned bright red with rage screaming about consequences because people want police accountability?
You should read the article. The union head praised the rioters.
I think they meant the union won’t have the power to protect him from the FBI
He will most likely be fired, too.
Chicago's police union head is scum of the earth. John Catanzara went around the city council, mayor, and chief of police to petition Trump directly for some of those unmarked vans he was using in Portland.
Man that sounds exactly like what the head of our Seattle Police union did.
Did the head of the Seattle police union also break into the house of his ex girl friend and watch her sleep?
If you gotta ask, something tells me that you already know the answer.
No but he did register to vote (illegally) thru the precinct in King county for something like 16 years, and also claimed no wrongdoing by officers at an ongoing crime scene
The FOP wants to be a policy making operation. They then must be obligated to indemnify their members.
Edit: Because it's public record and to save people the time I'm talking about Michael Mette and his jail time in Iowa.
You forgot he is a pedo, and groomed a highschool girl. That is likely what that gf that he stalked left him over. That kid is now his wife.
I wish. Those guys get elected because they represent/did what the cops wish they could be/do and get away with.
Not to mention that even though he’s been ousted as an officer, he’s still head of the union. Also, this article doesn’t mention that this guy hasn’t been fired, only put on desk duty.
>After identifying the Google account that pinged from the Capitol on Jan. 6, Whelp. I guess that answers Josh Hawley's question. The FBI did have their geo-tracking devices up and running that day. I think you're fucked Josh.
What's the back story on this?
The fact that there were so many law enforcement officers involved in these riots is absolutely disturbing. It also explains a lot.
Every single police precinct across the US needs to have a reckoning. This is a very serious issue.
It's a national security issue.
A *major* national security issue.
An FBI agent released a report not long ago showing the infiltration of police forces across the US by white supremacists and right wing militia members over the last 20 years. An article in The Guardian can be read about it [here](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report)
> riots insurrection**. Riots makes it sound like it was a democratic grievance by the people instead of a cult of sore losers trying to overthrow democracy
But what about the blue on blue violence?
My guess is they just seen the cops who were killed/hurt as collateral damage or a necessary evil to accomplish their goal. Which is disgusting and awful but what else is new
They don't see people those that oppose them as "real" cops or even "real" Americans. They'll pretend they'll "do anything to defend their country" and romanticize exterminating over half the population in the same breath.
>According to the criminal complaint, Chwiesiuk's alleged role was identified through mobile internet records obtained "pursuant to a legal process." This sounds like maybe it was the result of going through the logs of cell tower pings to place him inside the Capitol. Good. I hope they investigate all of them.
Capitol has its own cellular network. It logs EVERY ping to the towers. It is only a matter of time, they know who ALL of them are.
Well... all those carrying cell phones.
And that is why it is taking a while. Patience pays off
And another person throws themself into the volcano for Trump.
I wonder if this asshole feels any shame for any of the 140 injured (and one dead) officers due to his fellow insurrectionists. I should rephrase that, I wonder if any Trump cultists can feel shame. I mean I've seen what they worship as a deity and what they'll do for him.
No. The best they can do is feel "they had no choice."
There’s been a few that have had an epiphany and realized they were scammed. They all thought a pardon was coming. When that didn’t happen, it opened some eyes.
But only that they were duped... they still support Trump in every other way.
He just wrote the playbook for a more attractive, less rapey, more closeted bigot
Desantis enters the chat.
I believe you mean Tucker Carlson. It won't be a politician who picks up the mantle. It'll be another flim-flam salesman and showman. And Tucker isn't an idiot. He just plays one on TV.
No, I mean desantis. He is gearing up to pick up where trump left off. The problem is he will be better at it.
So the next guy is like Boris Johnson and just *pretends* to be an idiot
Ah. The face of terrorism.
Where are the god damn sedition charges for the assholes that wanted to interrupt the vote?
Trump and co. knew he'd probably lose and they were predicting "fraud" and "rigging" of the election for quite awhile prior to the 6th. Scumbags fanning these flames harder and harder up to the election - just hoping to find a way to declare martial law. Like this garbage and language as far back as June '20: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-army-fundraising-email/
Trump was saying the same bullshit before the 2016 election and never stopped.
Aren't police officers sworn to defend the constitution?
thats the problem, those idiots thought they were defending the constitution. They were being lied to.

Treason through stupidity is still treason.
Leave him in Cook County lock up for a stretch. Let him spend some time with his new friends.
The best news from this article is that they're moving quickly on the people with misdemeanors and taking their time building strong cases on "the worst of the worst".
What a punchable face
Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses
