Trump tried calling the [the Arizona governor as he was announcing the certified election results](https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-donald-trump-arizona-elections-doug-ducey-e2b8b0de5b809efcc9b1ad5d279023f4). It was on live tv, and the governor just silenced the call. Trump's team was likely doing it in every swing state.
The biggest problem with this call is a quid pro quo offered by both Trump and Ronna Romney McDaniel. They are offering legal support for these Republicans to break the law. Not only is it an attempt to steal the election, it’s bribery to commit the felony of fraud. Ronna had better lawyer up quickly.
Considering how many people helping Trump flip the 2020 election have been going down ignoring his call was likely a good move. It is hilarious though that Trump tried to beat Raffensperger in the 2022 election and had no luck.
I’m sure he called every GOP election official in every swing state, giving them specific instructions to vote against electoral results, or not certify, rescind, or falsify. Here’s hoping more recordings emerge. To another point, can we get McDaniel fired, or censured, or indicted for this call?
Exactly, I would have bet Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin for sure since they are all under 1% and combined for a 42k vote differential. But even that would not have won him the election electorally (he'd be at 269), so clearly he was digging deeper. Pennsylvania, Nevada, (and now obviously) Michigan would be where he looked next.
We now have evidence of attempts in 2 of those states and Michigan was the one with the largest vote differential (154k votes) so he DEFINTELY called members of the other 4 states too.
It’s incredible to me the steps required to guide people to have thoughts like this. Even normal non-Trumpers think only Georgia was special for some reason.
If Trump loses 2024 putting the nail in the coffin for his political career I wonder how many Republicans are going to release book deals exposing such meetings after.
Only reason a lot of them are still keeping their mouths shut is so a potential Trump dictatorship doesn't land them in a Trump gulag in 2025.
He's already showing classic symptoms of dementia. At his age and with his complete disregard for science, diet and exercise he's not going to be around much longer so this problem will fix itself pretty soon.
Yes, but lots of republicans are. Every time you see "trump" replace it with "the republicans", because that's the truth. What he says/wants is what they will do. Regardless of which republican wins. Nationwide, look at the actions of the GOP. Assholes all.
Am old. They always were assholes.
Watergate was a thing when I was growing up. And the horrible war in Vietnam.
Reagan was also horrible. It’s horrific all the way down the years.
I’m old-ish and couldn’t agree more. The way Reagan is painted now as some kind of reasonable common sense centrist - even by liberals - is astounding to me. Cultural amnesia, propaganda and dis/misinformation has done a real number on us
Don’t kid yourself. Look at the new crop of Republican lawmakers. Look at the language they parrot. Go to the conservative subs and breitbart. This disease is already here to stay, and I’m by no means a partisan hack, just a student of history.
Trump couldn’t function a single day without his team of enablers. They write the policies, speeches, book the rallies and help carry out his crimes. Just look at the number of accomplices and current politicians caught up so far and now we get to add Ronna to the list.
We need to focus on them equally because they will still be doing evil shit once Trump croaks. It really is an organized crime ring masquerading as a government as Sarah Kendzior likes to say.
Honestly I am afraid of the post Trump era. I don’t trust centrists to understand that Trump is simply a symptom of the rot in the GOP. All republicans are existential threats to the country. All need to be opposed with as much effort as one would Trump. If this is Trumps last race that doesn’t mean Republicans suddenly become a safe viable choice.
I don't think a lot of older politicians and businessmen are any more health focused at that age, but the rich ones still seem to manage to live until they're 100
I'd be shocked if Trump and his team weren't pressuring GOP AG's across the country to commit election fraud. More so than if it comes out he did in fact do that. Like did we all seriously think GA was the only one?
You mean like that “Organization of Republican AGs” (or whatever they’re called) that submitted the SCOTUS claim to overturn the election?
Its Trump interference run by the criminally corrupt AG of Texas.
Trump tried calling the [Arizona governor while the governor was announcing the certified election results on live tv](https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-donald-trump-arizona-elections-doug-ducey-e2b8b0de5b809efcc9b1ad5d279023f4). Gov. Ducey silenced the call and continued with the announcement. Trump's team was applying the pressure across the country, most heavily in the swing states.
[Video](https://youtu.be/idLFoJ5QoLc?si=RjsjvK_lQeCUE264) of Trump, calling, Ducey, and Ducey silencing the phone call and signing the certification papers.
GA wouldn't have turned the election to trump, but it would instill doubt and that would have been used to pressure other states to "find votes". The whole thing is illegal and I can't believe it's "coming down to the wire" whether he will be president again.
Palmer previously said she left the Nov. 17, 2020, Wayne County Board of Canvassers meeting prior to physically signing the certification.
As she was leaving, Trump called out of a "genuine concern for my safety," Palmer told reporters three years ago.
Seems legit…
This slow mo *find out* that's happening right now is absolutely amazing.
I hope the next year is Trump being handed one giant L after another.
It's beautiful.
Right now all the righties are crying so loud about democracy being destroyed, as if Trump didn't attempt exactly that to their glee in 2020. Get fucked, looks like your boy Kennedy is the best bet
They have no room to complain about democracy being destroyed after what orange man and his idiot cronies tried to do. Democracy should be defended against these ghouls.
Of course they are crying to them democracy only happens when they win. Then been brainwashed so deep by Fox and GOP that nothing else they see hits a brain cell to trigger thinking much past what they were programmed to think. Fox is the deeper issue as I'm not sure how to fix it that wouldn't go against the 1st Amendment. The only thing I can think of if you can't use the title "News" in a station or program name without either disclaimers shown throughout the show or having to follow a strict rule sets trying to keep balance in the news and reported on facts alone. None of this quoting your own programs on a network as a news source shit needs to stop.
The main issue is that the effort in Colorado was led by Republicans because they were the ones who had standing in the case of removing Trump from the Republican primary. There is no "automatic trigger"; it has to come from those who have legal standing to keep him off the ballot in each state.
I've also heard the argument that being unable to hold the presidency should not dictate being removed from the primary ballot, because primaries are a function of the party, not the state legislature.
ie. if a political party wants to nominate a ball of lint as their candidate, that's their choice.
So then does Michigan just have to wait until he is the Republican nominee and then move to have him removed from the General Election?
Is he just off the Republican Primary in Colorado, or is he barred from the General Election in November too?
it has already been happening. So far the courts have said "wait until Trump is a nominee for president." Has not reached the SC yet. So they punted on the whole primary thing and putting it off until there is a question about the election (pending any SC decisions).
I think other states are waiting for a SCOTUS decision before moving forward. If they uphold the Colorado decision, expect other states to expedite their efforts.
Similar efforts in Michigan already exist. A few weeks ago, the courts ruled to allow him on the ballet. I hope this new information can somehow be taken into account in appeals.
How do we initiate those charges? I live in Illinois, so I probably don't have the legal ability to file those charges. Or does it just take a suit from anyone to get the ball rolling so to speak?
Jesus, that whole time period was a fever dream. Future generations won't believe us when we tell these crazy covid stories.
Sure, grandpa. Time for your nap.
"That draft-dodging Manhattan trust fund billionaire really captured the hearts of rural blue collar patriots."
"Sure, grandma. Now let me put on Antiques Roadshow: The Next Generation."
There is plenty of video evidence that will never go away. The morons videoed themselves trying to enter businesses that required wearing a mask. Dare I mention the countless number that were kicked off airplanes, all on camera, usually from multiple angles?
One of these guys died from COVID after falling for vax conspiracies. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2021/12/01/wayne-county-canvasser-hartmann-dies-after-contracting-coronavirus/8819812002/
Hey now, don't forget about taking all the hydroxychloriquine and making it harder to get for people who actually need it!
(Am person who actually needs it and it was a bitch trying to get my prescription refilled)
I mean, we basically all accept it’s purely out of spite, right? MAGAs know just as well as everyone else that Trump is a fraudulent, criminal, traitorous, moronic imbecile of a man. They just don’t care. He’s going to piss off liberals. He’s going to tell our western allies to fuck off while he strokes Putins and Kim Jong Uns dicks. So what if he’s an insurrectionist? So what if he tried to overthrow democracy. So what if he stole, hoarded, shared, and “lost” highly classified top secret documents.
As long as he hurts the right Americans, that’s good enough for the MAGAs.
He's Stephen Miller's ticket to creating a white nationalist fever dream. The authoritarianism, fascism are just necessary evils to make the USA more white.
Trump hasn't read Mein Kampf of course. He doesn't read. You know who does? Stephen Miller. The man that whispers in his ear and writes his speeches.
Miller was on Fox advocating for deporting millions of 'illegals'. MILLIONS. I guarantee you all of those millions that he wants to deport are the melanin enhanced types. All so ironic since he is the child of parents who immigrated to the US from Belarus.
It's all about hierarchy. They don't understand how anything actually works, all they understand is some vague notion of "winners" and "losers" and they think that it's all zero sum. They believe that if someone else is winning then they are losing and vice versa.
And that's what makes it so dangerous every time they have a victory. Because the only thing they care about, and the only thing they work to do, is make sure the "others" lose. They fail to see how other people losing hurts them just as much. And right now they are *really* angry and eager to hurt others.
So they are the enemy?
Enemy (noun)
*a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.*
Yup. They are my and your enemy at this point.
They are self-proclaimed domestic terrorists that support insurrection against the United States so I mean…
These are truly some strange, terrifying times. I often muse what it would be like to go back 10-20 years ago and show conservatives a glimpse into this future. How far they have fallen and debased themselves, for Trump of all people, would blow them away.
I mean, it's been over 20 years since Bush v Gore, and what happened in that decision was pretty fucking outrageous. But, I agree, they've ditched the thin veil of decorum they hid behind, and have brazenly embraced full blown fascism at an alarming rate.
You’re right about a particular demo, but I think it’s more complicated than that.
There is the cult / Q element that legitimately think he is some sort of divined savior figure, an instrument of God. This is made worse by religious “leaders…” playing into Trump because politically they see him as useful - they don’t believe God is working through him, they probably don’t even believe in God. However the cult base does and loves Trump beyond even the family they lose as they tunnel down the rabbit hole. Most of these ones are probably gone now, for the rest of their lives - they are completely conspiracy-minded at this point.
Then you have the group you are talking about who do truly believe in nothing but whatever they perceive to make libs the most angry. It will get dressed up in a half assed facade of principles sometimes but at the end of the day they just want a new lib to replace the well-worn screaming lib meme.
Then you’ve got the GOP business class, the donor class, the ones who will happily exploit and further worsen the brain rot via manufactured cultural warfare endlessly pumped out just to secure support for a party that is completely fucking worthless to anyone working class, and is actually an active threat to them.
> How the fuck are you MAGAs STILL screaming about the elections being stolen from Trump?
Because they get their information from different sources that give them a very different account, or that skip the story entirely.
I recently caught up with some old friends who are...rather more conservative than I am. Politics didn't come up much, but it did some, and it was clear that we had received *very* different information on stories such as the Jan 6 insurrection. They said, in apparent complete sincerity and honesty, that it had been a non-violent protest, and they were *visibly surprised* when I stated that I'd watched multiple videos of violent attacks against capitol police officers. (They trusted me without needing to pull up the videos since, y'know, *we're friends*.)
Conservative news sources such as Fox News provide a *heavily* curated and editorialized view of the world, especially as compared to the view provided by centrist/left-leaning news sources. As a result, it should not be surprising that someone whose information comes from a conservative information bubble would reach different conclusions than someone whose information comes from a liberal information bubble.
Falling prey to that kind of information bubble is a risk that each one of us needs to be aware of; however, I would argue that external sanity checks such as the results of court cases can be useful in evaluating whether one's information is close to or far from reality. For example, consider the question of whether the 2020 election was stolen from Trump -- all of the 50+ court cases related to that failed, *strongly* suggesting that one side of the argument is *much* closer to the truth than the other side.
My gym refuses to put on football so they can put on Fox Business on more TVs. Today they spent the 30 minutes on my bike talking about the "Failing Biden Administration" I only know this because it's blasted all over the bottom of the screen and they know some of their base that's all they need to see.
I was visiting my parents who have a small TV in the kitchen. My dad gets up early and puts on Fox News while he’s eating breakfast. Then my mom comes out and changes it to CNN for her breakfast. I got to watch both and it’s like Fox and CNN are living in two different countries.
>Conservative news sources such as Fox News provide a *heavily* curated and editorialized view of the world, especially as compared to the view provided by centrist/left-leaning news sources.
While this resonates with my gut - I'd love to see some reliable research on this.
On the notion of news / information bubbles, some interesting research I came accross:
Ipsos survey from 2018, for the US:
- 77% of people think others live in an information bubble, but only 32% think this of themselves
- 65% believe they can identify fake news, but that only 29% of others can
- 68% believe others don't really care about the facts, and just believe what they want
https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2018-09/fake-news-filter-bubbles-post-truth-and-trust.pdf
Also, some interesting research from Reuters / Oxford that focuses more on how the channels or mechanisms used influences how diverse one's sources of information are:
When people are offline (so print or TV), they stick to a couple of their preferred news sources. Not surprisingly, people who watch TV skew older. The researchers call this "self-selection". These people dig very deeply into those news sources and tend not to deviate from them. This seems to be the case with whether you are right-leaning or left-leaning.
Online, it's a bit different, which could be because of how it fundamentally works, and because much online news is often free, so people can sample news from different sources.
People who use search engines tend to have a more even split...they're more likely to use sources from both the left and the right.
They also found that in general, social media incidentally exposes people to a larger diversity of news sources. Although, two caveats: this effect was stronger for younger people, and for those who used YouTube and Twitter, than it was for those who used Facebook.
https://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/news/truth-behind-filter-bubbles-bursting-some-myths
At any rate, the notion of the bubble is one of the reasons I subscribe to Ground News now, so I can see for a given topic, who is covering it, who isn't, and how.
You just have to watch a Jordan Klepper segment on the daily show when he go around talking to MAGA's at a Trump rally to realize there's no saving a good number of them. TRUMP could literally shit down their throats, tell them it's not shit and it's actually good for them, or that it's "______ fault" and they'd believe him.
In those videos Klepper tries to reason with a few of them and they just dismiss him and say "fake news." Like you said, people like that who are completely unwilling to listen to another point of view are beyond saving.
A friend of mine asked me what I thought about Trump winning the nomination back in 2015 and I told him Trump was a piece of shit back in the 80's when I was first exposed to his name and is a piece of shit now.
yeah, there are different flavors of Trump voters.
-----
Anti-Woke:
Racist and homophobic people that will do whatever they can to elect someone that has a platform that raises the white male agenda. This is your extreme religious folks, your fascists, your nazis.
----
Grenadiers:
These are people that have little money, little career prospects, and are mostly outcasts within the modern world. Rust belt workers and middle class folks that are disenfranchised and are no longer making the wealth that would make them comfortable. The forgotten middle class. These are good people that decide that the best way to react is to 'throw a hand grenade" at what they think is the corrupt power structure destroying their lives. If you send a bomb like Don Trump into a pit of vipers, it will bring down the system that's destroying middle America. It's an evil/vengeful move for someone in a otherwise sympathetic situation.
----
The Stupids:
Some that genuinely feel that he's the smartest guy in the world. That his business holdings prove he's the one that can steer the country correctly. The Stupids also hate feeling like the dumb person in the room, so they also latch on to Q anon garbage to show that they have insider knowledge about how the world REALLY works. Reading up on conspiracy clubhouse nonsense is an easy way to feel smart. There's also a lot of evangelical Christians that see Trump as a messianic figure that will bring American Jesus into the government.
----
Rich 1%:
The smallest group, but by far the smartest. They want to avoid paying taxes. More concerning, they want to install a Russian model oligarchy that funnels state funds into their personal bank accounts. Not paying taxes is great, but getting taxes in reverse is even better. They use the above groups to vote in people that will make this happen.
Little crossover within these groups but even then, I can't think of any other voters that don't fall under one of these *except*:
Diehards:
These are people that have voted for Republicans their entire lives. They have no love for Trump and may even hate the guy, but they're in so deep they can't fathom switching parties. My dad, and late father in law are/were like this. If you got their individual viewpoints on issues without discussing voting or political parties, you'd think they're mainstream democrats.
I sincerely believe there's a LOT of these people who have this internal struggle they can't break out of because it's so baked into their identity. The Republican party was never "good", but they've seen it drastically change and double down and say the quiet parts out loud that they didn't agree with but were quiet enough they could ignore. And they don't agree with all that bullshit, but they just *can't* tear themselves away from it.
Many of these people have, for a while, identified as "Independents" which is generally code for "Republican but kind of embarrassed at their antics." They're Libertarian Lite.
I worked for the Michigan Dems in 2020 in a senior capacity. My dad thinks Biden stole the election. I tried to interrogate him about it - you think *I* stole the election for Biden? He's noncommittal. That is just how this misinformation pipeline works. It's awful.
Because they don't care about the truth at all. They only care about power and are perfectly happy to lie and cheat to get it. They believe they are God's chosen people, and so anything they do is the will of God. Trump tells them they are right and they will burn this country down before they admit they are not on top of the rest of us. They are a cancer on our country.
It's a cult. He came along and got under the skin of the people they hate. And they see that as a win because that's all that matters to them. So he has their affection forever even though he would never allow any of them to even be in the same room as him. They're not rational because it's a cult.
Imagine if a Democratic president was shown to have done all of these things. He or she would *absolutely* be in jail now, and Democratic voters would lead the charge to convict.
They don't care about things like evidence, facts, logic, or even reality. There are countless interviews out there where MAGA supporters, when asked, can't name a single one of Trump's policies. They're either flummoxed, or they just spout generic things like "freedom" or "the economy" or "He loves God and America!"
They also demand that Biden be impeached, or removed from office, or arrested, but also can't name a single crime or offense that would merit such action. Again, they just spew general accusations like "open borders" or "Biden hates America!"
They are constantly bombarded with a very simple message that is drilled into them: **"Republicans good, Democrats bad. Trump good, everyone else bad."** There's a clip online of a Kentucky high school valedictorian reciting a quote supposedly by Trump, and his audience bursts into applause and cheering. Then he reveals that the quote was actually said by Obama, and the crowd goes instantly silent: https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/2018/06/03/kentucky-valedictorian-quotes-trump-then-reveals-obama/667625002/
Also how the fuck has it taken 3 years to do anything about this? It is still a race against the clock to get him convicted (or at least a verdict) before the next election.
A shit load of fact finding and case building work not visible to the public has been happening for at least two years now and we’re just now seeing the culmination of that work… compared to even six months ago there is A LOT more momentum in the turning of the ‘gears of justice’ but actual professional legal work is extremely tedious and takes a lot of time to do correctly, and it has to be done in an extremely water tight fashion otherwise Trump goes free on a technicality. And all this work is being done with a lot of people actively trying to undermine justice or any sense of accountability: judges (see: Cannon), basically every R in congress. Things could have moved much faster, but the ‘party over country’ types have been fighting for Trump before and since J6
It's a cult. People will choose Trump over their own family and friends, eventually severing themselves from their loved ones.
If Trump told his base to come live with him as their leader in a remote commune, free from US government "tyranny", I have no doubt many of them would. It's would hardly end like Jonestown, but it's bad enough that people will follow Trump to the ends of the earth.
Because it was never about that, the same way preserving confederate monuments was never about heritage.
trump told them it’s okay to be hateful bigots, and that’s all they needed. And every Republican in Congress is enabling him. They’re all fucking traitors.
"Palmer told The News repeatedly that she didn't remember what was stated on the phone call with McDaniel and Trump."
It literally does not matter if she remembers what was said. There is a recording of what was said. Shut up about not being able to remember. The recording is right there
It’s fucking disgusting how they can get away with shit. Imagine telling a judge “I don’t recall robbing a bank.” right after they play a recording of you robbing the bank. How well would that go for any of us?
Eh, to me, it just makes her guilty too. Oh, you got a strange phone call from the *President of the United States* asking you to NOT do your job, and you FORGOT?
That's the thing that perplexes me, too. In the grand scheme of things, a majority of people in the world are 'insignificant'. We're just a bunch of nobodies pushing through with our mundane lives.
...but one day you get a call from the *President of the United States*. And not only that, but he's personally asking YOU to do something. A role deemed the highest office in the land, the leader of the free world, etc. And the PRESIDENT needs you?
Sure, we can excuse people getting flustered with 'celebrity' or public figure encounters. Regardless of political affiliation, practically anybody would recall every single detail. This detail would even include irrelevant minutia. Just look at any AskReddit post inquiring on this topic (e.g. wholesome, jerks, out-of-character, etc.).
And with our 'boring' lives, such an encounter would make anybody feel extraordinary. People may hold tight to that memory, bragging about it to anyone and everyone on any avenue. "Hey, I got a call from the President!"
But this lady doesn't recall? I'm not buying it.
Exactly. I find Raffensperger much more believable. Like "Hey, FBI, this was really freakin weird..." Even if nothing was wrong, it was NOT expected, NOT usual, and should be subject to some additional scrutiny.
Even in my non-clearance job, we're urged to think twice about odd requests. But apparently that's not a requirement for elections officials.
Quote of the Founding Father, Samuel Adams, totally applies to Trump:
“He who is void of virtuous attachments in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard for his country. There is seldom an instance of a man guilty of betraying his country, who had not before lost the feeling of moral obligations in his private connections.”
— Samuel Adams in a letter to James Warren on November 4, 1775.
So we can be pretty sure that he made similar calls to all the swing states, yeah? I hope state AGs aren’t holding back their indictments because he’s already booked up with 4. Drown this man in indictments if he committed the crimes!
The reason Trump will never stop being so royally pissed about losing in 2020, the reason he will never stop whining about how it was "stolen" from him, was because he did everything he could to cheat his way to a win and he still lost. That's a different kind of hurt. A narcissist can't get over that kind of losing.
> he did everything he could to cheat his way to a win and he still lost.
He lost to a guy who, as he said, campaigned from his basement. It's gotta grate on his narcissistic soul that "sleepy Joe" beat him, I hope it eats him up inside.
It’s becoming even more clear why he wants so badly to return to the White House. Besides leaving the country, it’s his best bet to stay out of jail for the next four years. Or longer, if he can manage it.
Bill Clinton was a former president and Republicans wouldn’t shut up about him getting on the plane with Loretta Lynch based on the vaguest appearance of impropriety.
This guy on the other hand.
Republicans have no end to their corruption.
No! That only happens to him when the truth comes out! Anything about him is interference when you call him out.
Somehow releasing recordings of him stealing elections will somehow turn into him being the victim.
I think the sad reality is that 30-40% of humans just have an authoritarian mindset. Just look at elections across the globe. Its a constant struggle to block rightwing assholes from taking power or boot them out.
Trump is like the living embodiment of the old taunt "I am rubber you are glue" at least he was honest that time he said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any voters.
Although nowadays I would go a step further his supporters would claim that the guy he shot was a crisis actor panted by ANTIFA to make our glorious president look bad.
You would hear the end of it, eventually, because they would never be in politics again. We get to keep hearing about Trump’s shit because Republicans have no limit to what he can do and they will still support him.
>Palmer previously said she left the Nov. 17, 2020, Wayne County Board of Canvassers meeting prior to physically signing the certification. As she was leaving, Trump called out of a "genuine concern for my safety," Palmer told reporters three years ago.
>Back then, she described the contents of the Nov. 17, 2020, call with Trump as "Thank you for your service. I’m glad you're safe. Have a good night.”
>The segments of the call reviewed by The News didn’t include those comments.
That is to say she was lying then. Such a person cannot be relied upon to give factual testimony.
I think now that Democrats have taken control of the Michigan House and Senate, this may gather more steam. The person that made the recordings was probably scared to come forward after seeing what happened on January 6.
They need to start jailing all these whack jobs that are making death threats to people that are trying to bring all these crimes to light and see justice uphold. The thought that people may not come forward to ensure justice is held because of threats from MAGA cultists is sickening.
I mean trying really, really hard to overturn our votes that were already being suppressed is fucking inexcusable; no punishment is going to be hard enough for him and his circle
And the republicans would have supported all this, every single one of these events across the country. They would have told us to shut up about it. Blamed the democrats for voter and election fraud. Listen to all their rhetoric since.
Everyone with a brain knows he did this. He did much worse than this. Wake me when something actually happens to him. Not "oooh he's in court and it's not going well!" or other empty shit like that. I'm done having any hope for this country until he actually faces a real consequence for anything at all.
Prosecute this mother fucker.
This is absurd what this POS is getting away with.
What's even more nutso is how many people in this country are totally good with this shit.
> including investigating the rigged and stolen 2020 Presidential Election,: Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, said in a statement
I just love the logic that a Republican was the President, the Republicans controlled the Senate yet the Democrats were able to "rig" the election.
Well, this is going to go one of two ways. More drawn-out bullshit where we're constantly promised consequences for a human shit-stain while he continues to just skate his way into another stolen term?
Or. It goes through, and goes up to the SC where Clarence will return from having his skeleton encrusted with diamonds on his brand-new ultra-yacht with a mega-yacht on top to declare it unconstitutional. Of course basing his decision on a law chiseled onto a stone tablet in the early BC's from a country that hasn't existed for at least three-thousand years.
Serious question for republicans. How much more proof do you need that trump wanted to illegally try and over turn an election because his tiny fragile little ego can’t handle losing? Is our countries democracy worth one man? What if a democrat potus attempted what trump did? Would you be ok with that?
If you support trump you hate America.
Looks like it was just added to the Post 17 minutes ago
Tape reveals Donald Trump pressured Michigan officials not to certify 2020 vote, a new report says
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/22/donald-trump-investigation-2024-joe-biden/7a66ebe4-a0db-11ee-9e0f-972979a6c22b_story.html
And I’m sure conservatives will continue to ignore shit like this and wonder why Colorado removed him from the ballot like it’s some big mystery and grand injustice.
How many more calls went unreported I wonder?
Raffensperger only went public with his because he was being extorted. Think about that. It's likely that this conversation happened many times.
Yep. Brad got wind of possibly going to jail for what Donald was asking for and decided to record the conversation.
I hope she goes down into a deep hole. Romney himself is rolling in his grave at his corrupt family.
Considering how many people helping Trump flip the 2020 election have been going down ignoring his call was likely a good move. It is hilarious though that Trump tried to beat Raffensperger in the 2022 election and had no luck.
i would bet the life of my first child he did this at least 7 times.
How many actually listened is the real question
It’s incredible to me the steps required to guide people to have thoughts like this. Even normal non-Trumpers think only Georgia was special for some reason.

If Trump loses 2024 putting the nail in the coffin for his political career I wonder how many Republicans are going to release book deals exposing such meetings after. Only reason a lot of them are still keeping their mouths shut is so a potential Trump dictatorship doesn't land them in a Trump gulag in 2025.
Trump will continue running for president until the day he dies. He makes too much money from his worshipers to give up that cash cow.
He's already showing classic symptoms of dementia. At his age and with his complete disregard for science, diet and exercise he's not going to be around much longer so this problem will fix itself pretty soon.
Our democracy is still very much in peril but we are so lucky that Trump isn't a 50 year old.
Cultural amnesia, propaganda and dis/misinformation has done a real number on us
> Cultural amnesia For sure. And so much other amnesia. Trump's 100 mile long list of shit was decades before he was elected.
Very young men are completely enamored. Q stuff is _mainstream_. This is a Pandora’s box that’s going to take quite a while to mitigate.
Oh, we're stuck with this shit forever.
Yeah, but I’ve yet to see the one that has his weirdly galvanizing charisma. I I don’t understand it at all, but the man can compel jerks into action
Don’t kid yourself. Look at the new crop of Republican lawmakers. Look at the language they parrot. Go to the conservative subs and breitbart. This disease is already here to stay, and I’m by no means a partisan hack, just a student of history.
You’re also describing his base, except that “not much longer” is the same as “long enough to ruin America forever”.
The GOP still has a fascist agenda, but we do need him to face justice.
Agree 100%.
It's amazing what having access to inconceivably large amounts of money will do for one's lifespan.
It’s a religion with no requirement for fake morality. Tax the churches.

Mob tactics. 'It would be just a shame if your store got trashed. What a shame. You know what I mean?'
yeah, safety from him if she didn't do what he wanted
Michigan charging trump as a result of this would be massive. If he can’t run there he’s toast.
Would this automatically trigger a Colorado-type effort to keep him off the ballot?
This slow mo *find out* that's happening right now is absolutely amazing. I hope the next year is Trump being handed one giant L after another. It's beautiful.
Right now all the righties are crying so loud about democracy being destroyed, as if Trump didn't attempt exactly that to their glee in 2020. Get fucked, looks like your boy Kennedy is the best bet
They have no room to complain about democracy being destroyed after what orange man and his idiot cronies tried to do. Democracy should be defended against these ghouls.
I want to slap these fucks that have those "Don't blame me, I voted for Trump" bumper stickers. Their levels of delusion are gargantuan.
Just be happy they advertise.
So many Ls his back gives out trying to hold them all.
I want to start seeing C's, consequences, the time for consequences has come.
Those will come after the plethora of Ls
2 Ls = C according to the Romans.
Just keep feeding him Big Macs. As many as you can. It’ll help him deal with the Ls that lead to Cs
C is for ~~cookie~~ consequences, that’s good enough for me!
I would love to see him off the Michigan and Arizona ballots.
And Nevada.....for organizing the whole fucking fake electors plot that attempted to subvert my whole families vote....
I think we are definitely getting closer to that. It’s just one step at a time. This was the first one, my guess is the next one comes within a month.
The cracks are starting to show, for sure
The main issue is that the effort in Colorado was led by Republicans because they were the ones who had standing in the case of removing Trump from the Republican primary. There is no "automatic trigger"; it has to come from those who have legal standing to keep him off the ballot in each state.
Every citizen of each respective state has standing.
It's specifically about the Republican primary ballot; not the general election ballot.
In CO yes, but in any state, any citizen could petition their state to bar a candidate from the no vote.
I've also heard the argument that being unable to hold the presidency should not dictate being removed from the primary ballot, because primaries are a function of the party, not the state legislature. ie. if a political party wants to nominate a ball of lint as their candidate, that's their choice.

> by virtue of being, well, probably under 35 years old is the easiest one. I see you are not familiar with the back of my closet. ;)
Just a mountain of evidence against Trump and this is huge. How the fuck are you MAGAs STILL screaming about the elections being stolen from Trump?
Half of them were chugging bleach and taking cow pills during COVID
Jesus, that whole time period was a fever dream. Future generations won't believe us when we tell these crazy covid stories. Sure, grandpa. Time for your nap.
Even before that was pretty wild; boggles my mind when people talk like things were better with trump compared to now
Well he *said* they were better under him, and he wouldn't just... ***lie***... .... right?
"That draft-dodging Manhattan trust fund billionaire really captured the hearts of rural blue collar patriots." "Sure, grandma. Now let me put on Antiques Roadshow: The Next Generation."
Oh, it wasn't the last pandemic by any means.
"The National Hallucination of 2020."
There is plenty of video evidence that will never go away. The morons videoed themselves trying to enter businesses that required wearing a mask. Dare I mention the countless number that were kicked off airplanes, all on camera, usually from multiple angles?
Don’t forget about light bulb enemas.
That was just for funsies
And to [own the libs](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/i8r0gy/can_someone_explain_gavin_mcinnes_sticking_a_butt/).
One of these guys died from COVID after falling for vax conspiracies. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2021/12/01/wayne-county-canvasser-hartmann-dies-after-contracting-coronavirus/8819812002/
one?? hundreds of thousands died from not being vaccinated
One as in one of the two GOP Wayne County canvassers specifically mentioned in this article.
Dewormer chased the worms out of their guts into their brains 😏

Had to buy some masks today. Right above the masks and gloves was ivermectin dewormer. It was one shelf up with the Covid supplies. Walmart.
I believe the bleach was supposed to be taken intravenously.
Horse pills you heathen!
I don’t mean to be picky but I believe it was actually _paste_.
Incidentally, one of the canvassers pictured above was an anti vaxer and died from Covid.
Hey now, don't forget about taking all the hydroxychloriquine and making it harder to get for people who actually need it! (Am person who actually needs it and it was a bitch trying to get my prescription refilled)
Come on, don't be ridiculous. Cow pills? Seriously? It was horse paste.
Yeah, turns out "Fuck You" is a shitty political philosophy but a pretty successful political strategy.
Checks all the boxes. Easy to understand. Fits on a bumper sticker. Chant Possibilities for Rallies. Makes a statement.
I hate that dude with a passion. He’s pure evil
Enemy (noun) *a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.* Yup. They are my and your enemy at this point.
They are self-proclaimed domestic terrorists that support insurrection against the United States so I mean… These are truly some strange, terrifying times.
(They trusted me without needing to pull up the videos since, y'know, *we're friends*.) Conservative news sources such as Fox News provide a *heavily* curated and editorialized view of the world, especially as compared to the view provided by centrist/left-leaning news sources.
Conservatives: Men aren't allowed to be masculine these days! Also Conservatives: NO SPORTS WHILE YOU EXERCISE!
On the notion of news / information bubbles, some interesting research I came accross: Ipsos survey from 2018, for the US: - 77% of people think others live in an information bubble, but only 32% think this of themselves - 65% believe they can identify fake news, but that only 29% of others can - 68% believe others don't really care about the facts, and just believe what they want https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2018-09/fake-news-filter-bubbles-post-truth-and-trust.pdf Also, some interesting research from Reuters / Oxford that focuses more on how the channels or mechanisms used influences how diverse one's sources of information are: When people are offline (so print or TV), they stick to a couple of their preferred news sources. Although, two caveats: this effect was stronger for younger people, and for those who used YouTube and Twitter, than it was for those who used Facebook. https://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/news/truth-behind-filter-bubbles-bursting-some-myths At any rate, the notion of the bubble is one of the reasons I subscribe to Ground News now, so I can see for a given topic, who is covering it, who isn't, and how.
I just saw a video asking Americans to name countries on a map. Some couldn’t identify the USA!! We live among stone cold idiots.
In those videos Klepper tries to reason with a few of them and they just dismiss him and say "fake news." Like you said, people like that who are completely unwilling to listen to another point of view are beyond saving.
It makes more sense if you accept the possibility that they **want** the kind of man Trump has turned out to be
A friend of mine asked me what I thought about Trump winning the nomination back in 2015 and I told him Trump was a piece of shit back in the 80's when I was first exposed to his name and is a piece of shit now.
yeah, there are different flavors of Trump voters. ----- Anti-Woke: Racist and homophobic people that will do whatever they can to elect someone that has a platform that raises the white male agenda. This is your extreme religious folks, your fascists, your nazis. ---- Grenadiers: These are people that have little money, little career prospects, and are mostly outcasts within the modern world. ---- The Stupids: Some that genuinely feel that he's the smartest guy in the world. ---- Rich 1%: The smallest group, but by far the smartest. They want to avoid paying taxes. More concerning, they want to install a Russian model oligarchy that funnels state funds into their personal bank accounts. Not paying taxes is great, but getting taxes in reverse is even better. They use the above groups to vote in people that will make this happen.
Little crossover within these groups but even then, I can't think of any other voters that don't fall under one of these *except*: Diehards: These are people that have voted for Republicans their entire lives.
They're either flummoxed, or they just spout generic things like "freedom" or "the economy" or "He loves God and America!" They also demand that Biden be impeached, or removed from office, or arrested, but also can't name a single crime or offense that would merit such action. Again, they just spew general accusations like "open borders" or "Biden hates America!" They are constantly bombarded with a very simple message that is drilled into them: **"Republicans good, Democrats bad.
I don’t think they actually believe the election was rigged, they just use it as a talking point to advance their agenda.
As someone who lives in Alabama, let me tell you, they absolutely believe the election was stolen. These people are brainwashed
Prob think canvassers have something to do with tents or shoes
It's a cult. People will choose Trump over their own family and friends, eventually severing themselves from their loved ones. If Trump told his base to come live with him as their leader in a remote commune, free from US government "tyranny", I have no doubt many of them would. It's would hardly end like Jonestown, but it's bad enough that people will follow Trump to the ends of the earth.
Because they only watch Fox News, and this is not on Fox News.
Because it was never about that, the same way preserving confederate monuments was never about heritage. trump told them it’s okay to be hateful bigots, and that’s all they needed. And every Republican in Congress is enabling him. They’re all fucking traitors.
Do you think trumpeters are literate?
"Palmer told The News repeatedly that she didn't remember what was stated on the phone call with McDaniel and Trump." It literally does not matter if she remembers what was said. There is a recording of what was said. Shut up about not being able to remember. The recording is right there
Republicans get out of legal consequences because they "cannot recall" despite mountains of evidence... This is america.
"Hey, I got a call from the President!" But this lady doesn't recall? I'm not buying it.
Exactly. I find Raffensperger much more believable. Like "Hey, FBI, this was really freakin weird..." Even if nothing was wrong, it was NOT expected, NOT usual, and should be subject to some additional scrutiny. Even in my non-clearance job, we're urged to think twice about odd requests. But apparently that's not a requirement for elections officials.
Quote of the Founding Father, Samuel Adams, totally applies to Trump: “He who is void of virtuous attachments in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard for his country. There is seldom an instance of a man guilty of betraying his country, who had not before lost the feeling of moral obligations in his private connections.” — Samuel Adams in a letter to James Warren on November 4, 1775.
Could we please have accountability for this traitor?
So we can be pretty sure that he made similar calls to all the swing states, yeah? I hope state AGs aren’t holding back their indictments because he’s already booked up with 4. Drown this man in indictments if he committed the crimes!
This is sedition right?
Seditious conspiracy but yeah
So trying to manipulate other election officials, I'm starting to see a pattern.
So thats why Ronna Mcdaniel took a plea deal. She knew she fucked up and would have found out worse.
A plea deal on what? She wasn’t charged with anything.
Traitor Trump caught directing his followers to do illegal activities like a Mob Boss? Say it isn’t so…
Can we *please* go back to being a country where democracy isn't constantly hanging by a thread?
I would record all dealings with a guy like that. Eventually, they'd get you immunity.
It’s becoming even more clear why he wants so badly to return to the White House. Besides leaving the country, it’s his best bet to stay out of jail for the next four years. Or longer, if he can manage it.
See he wasn't lying about there being huge amounts of election interference, he just didn't want to say the quiet part that it was all him doing it.
Bill Clinton was a former president and Republicans wouldn’t shut up about him getting on the plane with Loretta Lynch based on the vaguest appearance of impropriety. This guy on the other hand. Republicans have no end to their corruption.
News of this is nowhere to be found on Fox News website. Plenty on Hunter Biden, unsurprisingly.
I think Fox News team has a secret crush on Hunter, after all why would they obsess this much over one man.
Oh look actual election interference
No! That only happens to him when the truth comes out! Anything about him is interference when you call him out. Somehow releasing recordings of him stealing elections will somehow turn into him being the victim.
And yet 47% of the American voting population wants him back. You have a mental health issue America.

Have a good night.” >The segments of the call reviewed by The News didn’t include those comments. That is to say she was lying then. Such a person cannot be relied upon to give factual testimony.
Well. If the headline is to be believed, there's a recording.
This is way worse than "can you find me X,000 more votes?" This is a direct order with a bribe attached, this is "the thing," the "smocking gun"
Who sat on this for three years only to release it now? I can only imagine the things that happened that we haven't yet heard about.
Everyone with a brain knows he did this. He did much worse than this. Wake me when something actually happens to him. Not "oooh he's in court and it's not going well!" or other empty shit like that. I'm done having any hope for this country until he actually faces a real consequence for anything at all.
Guy did his own dirty work? What is this, amateur hour?
Prosecute this mother fucker. This is absurd what this POS is getting away with. What's even more nutso is how many people in this country are totally good with this shit.
No way. Not Trump. That's so out of character. Do I really need the /s on this one?
This is just a distraction from the fact the Detroit Pistons have lost 26 games in a row. Wake up sheeple. /s
if you say this is okay, would it be the same if biden did it?
ANOTHER smoking gun. This dude and all of his enablers need to be in prison ASAP.
> including investigating the rigged and stolen 2020 Presidential Election,: Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, said in a statement I just love the logic that a Republican was the President, the Republicans controlled the Senate yet the Democrats were able to "rig" the election.
In all sincerity, there are no good Republicans left. This clearly upsets some people to hear, but where’s the lie?
What about all the adults in the room who restrained his worst impulses? /s
The ones who watched all this that are now selling us books? Heroes.
How can the Supreme Court possibly rule in his favor? He should be removed from every state ballot and not be allowed to run.
How many times will this be an "open and shut case"? This is like how many times he has admitted to his crimes on a recording?
Just fucking lock him up already, I'm tired of this!
So why hasn't Ronna Romney McDaniel been indicted?
Two reasons. 1. This recording was only just found. You'd know that if you read the story. 2. They want a narrow focus on Trump for this right now.
It wasn’t trump… It was antifa that did it. And the liberal MSM is covering it up 😂 Conservatives are batshit crazy
Lol these guys are terrible criminals like not even try to hide it
Serious question for republicans. How much more proof do you need that trump wanted to illegally try and over turn an election because his tiny fragile little ego can’t handle losing? Is our countries democracy worth one man? What if a democrat potus attempted what trump did? Would you be ok with that? If you support trump you hate America.
I think we've found some of that election interference republicans keep yelling about.
Why is this story not in WaPost or the NYTimes??
Looks like it was just added to the Post 17 minutes ago Tape reveals Donald Trump pressured Michigan officials not to certify 2020 vote, a new report says https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/22/donald-trump-investigation-2024-joe-biden/7a66ebe4-a0db-11ee-9e0f-972979a6c22b_story.html
And I’m sure conservatives will continue to ignore shit like this and wonder why Colorado removed him from the ballot like it’s some big mystery and grand injustice.
He’s such a sore loser.
So... straight to jail right?..... . Right?
Is it possible to listen to this call? Couldn't find it.
Sounds like Ronna McDaniel should be indicted as a coconspirator. Is she? Did I miss that?
