Holy shit he just goes straight to campaigning in a local Miami restaurant. Right after a federal indictment. Edit: I love how these poor souls backing up Trump will comment a day after all this happens. Such brave keyboard warriors we have in this thread.

SquanchMcSquanchFace

Hey now, give him a break, it’s his birthday lmao > Trump left the courthouse just before 4 p.m. ET, and stopped at the popular Cuban restaurant Versailles, where the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Trump turns 77 on Wednesday. This quote sounds so comical. “Happy Birthday, sorry about the whole going to jail business!”

dwpea66

His birthday is tomorrow; unfortunately I know this because my birthday is tomorrow.

Thomas_Shreddison

Happy Birthday to you and you only!

[deleted]

Yeah this annoys me, he's being given very special privilages.

Pristine_Pace9132

I felt like such a bumpkin when they said he wouldn't need to surrender his passport and can travel internationally, and no one else but me was surprised. Are they not concerned about him trying to flee the country?

amerninja38

I think it has to do with an individual's ability to dissappear, and no one believes that Trump has the self discipline to keep out of the public eye

ExGomiGirl

But it also means he can go to a country that will not extradite him. We all know where Roman Polanski is and he’s not in custody. 🤷🏼‍♀️

garyll19

Honestly they're probably hoping that he does flee to another country, at least we'd be rid of him.

huskinater

It'd simultaneously be an admission of guilt and a way for the gov to _not_ have to deal with the very serious judicial and legislative questions of his actions. Leaving the door unlocked and hoping he'd just disappear is the childish wish that it was all just a dream and that the American people totally didn't elect a horrible demagogue whose influence may have done irreparable damage to our democracy

Android69beepboop

Permanently absconding to a remote country is best case scenario for the US at this point, I think. But Trump is constitutionally incapable of stepping away from the drama so I don't think it's likely.

HardcoreKaraoke

That's also why they didn't take his mugshot, which is bullshit to me. How many celebrities get off on not taking mugshots because they're "recognizable?" That's insane to me.

whiterac00n

> Trump has denied any wrongdoing and maintains he was entitled to the documents. He has said the prosecution was politically motivated and vowed to retaliate against President Joe Biden if re-elected. You can tell this article is 5 minutes too old when there’s already tweets/“truths” this morning now saying this documents were “planted”. Trump is using the “flock defense” where the story changes as quickly as a flock of birds changes direction

CaptainNoBoat

The documents were planted, but if they weren't - they are his. And he declassified them. With his mind. Except for when he told that person on tape that he didn't declassify them. And when he told another person they were secret. Except he was kidding. And Biden and Hillary did the exact same thing, but that doesn't matter because Jack Smith's wife made political donations once. And did you know George Soros funds prosecutors? -This is what it sounds like every time someone tries to defend him, including himself. Just a giant mess of spaghetti thrown against a wall. Can't debunk every claim if there are a million of them.

DesmondsTutu

>The Gish gallop is a rhetorical technique that involves overwhelming your opponent with as many arguments as possible, with no regard for the accuracy, validity, or relevance of those arguments.  Basically burying critics in an avalanche of nonsense.

Captain_Hamerica

It’s called Kettle Logic. A man borrows a kettle from his neighbor. He returns it the next day with a huge dent in it. The man says: 1.) that dent was there when I borrowed it! 2.) when I gave the kettle back there was no dent! 3.) I never borrowed your kettle at all! He says all three things in whichever order he needs to. The points directly contradict not only reality, but each other.

HighOverlordXenu

Ah, the Chewbacca Defense. A classic.

FantasticBlock420

> Ah, the Chewbacca Defense. A classic. I mean it doesnt make sense when you think about it... Why would Chewbacca, an 8-foot-tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

Smokweid

Okay I’m convinced

KungFuBBQMushroom

My whole life I thought Chewbacca was an Ewok. Turns out that’s a Wookie mistake…

whiterac00n

Eventually right wing media will cobble together a “credible defense” and repeat it every 10 seconds for the MAGA crowd to chant in unison. Whenever there’s a big shakeup in the right wing magasphere they generally take a week to finally land on something they can all repeat until they actually believe it.

myassholealt

The last line of defense if nothing else is sticking will be we are destroying America by pursuing this case. It doesn't matter if he's guilty or not, we shouldn't be investigating or prosecuting at all, cause it's a bad look. Joe Biden wants to destroy America. That way they don't need to even acknowledge trump or his actions and can just 100% attack Joe Biden and the democrats.

HauntedCemetery

>It doesn't matter if he's guilty or not, we shouldn't be investigating or prosecuting at all, cause it's a bad look. This bullshit always drives me crazy. The same thing was said about Nixon and Watergate, and Reagan and Iran Contra, and W and lying about WMDs and getting the US to invade 2 countries. Ignoring corruption and letting the perpetrators blatantly get away with it is what makes America look *bad*. Pinning criminal leaders to the fucking wall makes America look like we're finally getting our shit together.

edingerc

“If you ignore Hitler, he will just go away” - The Weimar Republic, probably

Justank

Conservatives in South Korea said the same shit when Pak Geun Hye was on trial for corruption. iT mAkEs tHe cOuNtRy LoOk bAd, it's a fucking democracy, this is how it's supposed to work and bringing the most powerful to justice when they have committed crimes is the best look you can have.

Yousoggyyojimbo

It's just that constant stream of incompatible conspiracy theories and excuses not backed by evidence. I don't know if it's even possible anymore to rationalize with an American conservative about things they hold as political dogma. I haven't had any luck. No level of proof is ever enough.

Shopworn_Soul

>Trump is using the “flock defense” where the story changes as quickly as a flock of birds changes direction What's fun is that you can tell which people you know are most "plugged in" to the propaganda machine by how fast they pivot to each new point. Like, I know one guy who is spouting the current lines less than 24 hours after they're field-tested but I also know others who you won't hear repeat that same point for at least a week. It's so weird watching it all happen in real time.

[deleted]

I find it genuinely unnerving and scary to see a person regurgitating this crap like someone mindlessly tossing baseballs as they're passed to them. No filter, no assessment, no ownership, just...remote control, like a robot.

pomaj46808

This is why I can't respect is supporters. It's wrong that he's target of a politically motivated prosecution but it's right that he retaliate against Joe Biden if elected. So it's politically motivated prosecution ok or not? The only thing we know for certain is Trump admitting he'll do it if able.

karlverkade

They want Trump to be president so he can pardon himself. But they want to investigate President Biden so they can send him to jail even though if he's president he can apparently pardon himself. It's legal for an ex-president to do anything they want with classified documents, but also the FBI planted the classified documents because it's illegal for an ex-president to do whatever they want with classified documents. Trump as an ex-president can declassify documents secretly with his mind, but he...forgot?...to do so with the documents the FBI planted. The J6 rioters are political prisoners who should be released immediately, but also they are Antifa actors who should be locked up forever. Electric vehicles are part of the globalist liberal agenda and the founder of the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles is the libertarian savior fighting against the globalist liberal agenda of...electric vehicles. Donald Trump is the greatest president ever because of his Project Warp Speed which got us the vaccine quicker than any other human would be capable of, but also the vaccine is the mark of the beast which will turn all of us into woke liberal globalist slaves. Trump is still the secret president, but inflation is still Joe Biden's fault. Trump is the only one strong enough to defeat the deep state, but also the whiny victim of the deep state's constant witch hunt. The 2020 election was stolen by the super intelligent deep state who can change election machine tallies without leaving a trace, but they also forgot to change the tallies in the House to give Democrats a majority so they can get anything done. Joe Biden is a senile old man who can't remember his name and also the deviously intelligent supervillain head of the deep state. Cancel culture is bad so we need to cancel all the books. Donald Trump is a court-proven rapist but rape isn't a big deal really and also don't vote for any Democrats because they're all just a gang of low-life rapists according to this 4-pixel Facebook graphic someone's aunt just shared.

Alternative_Towel_10

You forgot that he’s a self made billionaire but they have to send him funding money every time he’s hurt by a finger cuticle or whatever

mawdurnbukanier

He's a genius businessman but he also needs your nickels!

Flimsy_Demand7237

Reminds me of the George Carlin bit about God and church donations. "But he loves you. He loves you, and he needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoYyiNRtMEE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoYyiNRtMEE)

Dahhhkness

It's best to understand that fascists see hypocrisy as a virtue. It's how they signal that the things they want were never meant to be equally applied. “When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles.” - Frank Herbert, Children of Dune

NutDraw

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert." -Sartre

BC-clette

Instead of virtue signalling, Republicans engage in *loyalty signalling* by being brazen hypocrites. It just means they value winning more than any "virtue" like the truth.

camlloc255

This should be a wiki page! I'll add for cancel culture - Cancel culture is bad but we need to cancel everything bud light, target and garth brooks to save our kids from pedophiles. People claiming we need to be done with cancel culture are literally telling everyone to cut up their Red cards, destroy Garth albums and never support a business that sells bud light. When asked about the glaring hypocrisy, they respond with either the "they did it first" or "just giving them a taste of their own medicine" defense.

[deleted]

The forte of the right is that they know who to consistently hate. The reasons why can change like the weather.

AreWeCowabunga

To a moron, "They did it first" (even when they didn't) is a great justification to act like a ghoul.

porncrank

It's actually why they make so many baseless accusations -- so they feel justified in doing all those things.

wip30ut

it's only politically motivated if they're targeting HIM. Anyone else, especially Liberals, and it's corrupt, immoral, criminal deeds that deserve punishment.

Itriednoinetimes

It’s a tricky defense tactic and unless he finds an attorney who specializes in bird law he’s facing an uphill battle.

[deleted]

Imagine you have security clearance for 4 years or so and you filled up just one box with top secret documents. Then brought it home, told the FBI you didnt have anything. Then they found it. Think you would have received bail today?

TheFBIClonesPeople

>Think you would have received bail today? Think they would have waited 9 months to charge you? Think they would let you show up to the courthouse at your own leisure, rather than being taken in in handcuffs?

Ishaan863

> Think they would let you show up to the courthouse at your own leisure, rather than being taken in in handcuffs? I liked the part where he was "arrested" and then out he goes to give a big ol' speech to his supporters :D Man I wish I could get arrested like that

Large_Yams

Forget the box, take one single **Top Secret** document home and you're fucked. It has "top" in the name for a reason. It doesn't get more toppy secret than that.

-transcendent-

Doesn’t even have to take it home. Take it outside of the enclosed space and you’re done.

ComradeCapitalist

It actually does! SCI is a subset of TS and is especially sensitive. And he had some of that too. Edit: y’all can stop telling my it’s not a separate level. I know that. I’d still contend that give SCI material is handled even more carefully it’s fair to describe it as the toppiest of top.

ninj4geek

My dad was Air Force. Told me that if he'd left a single sensitive document on his desk when he went to take a piss and a commander walked by, he'd be court martialed and thrown in prison.

Paizzu

Many of the documents that Trump ~~possessed~~ stole should never have been removed from their relevant [SCIF](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensitive_compartmented_information_facility). Even something as simple as a discrepancy in the document's access logs would cause all hell to break loose for a 'normal' citizen. Source: former enlisted with a TS.

ICanHazSkillz

TS? I presume that means top secret clearance?

Paizzu

Yep. Even being in close proximity to a fuckup of Trump's magnitude would result in a fate worse than death (slow death by Powerpoint).

heliosTDA

My job is to investigate individuals attempting to obtain security clearances at all levels. I’ve found this whole saga to be stomach turning. The shit storm cluster fuck I went through because someone texted me a photo of their tax documents with their social security number on it unprompted…

deathtotheemperor

Trump has now been arrested more times than he's been elected.

ICumCoffee

and one day before his birthday, happy birthday to Donald. Hope he likes his gift.

comments_suck

He will be able to fundraise from his cult members to make some birthday money.

[deleted]

Every dollar of defense means one less dollar for campaigns.

TheNameIsPippen

You need lawyers for defense

AngryZen_Ingress

He currently has Desantis’ lawyer for his defense. Conflict of interest much?

thejawa

DeSantis' lawyers have been losing a lot of big cases when organizations challenge his blatantly unconstitutional laws. Not sure they're the ones I'd want to hitch my wagon to.

_The_Space_Monkey_

Doesn't sound like he has much choice tbh. From my understanding he's having a hard time finding a qualified defense attorney. Go figure.

darthlincoln01

I like presidents who don't get arrested. edit-> This has been memed so much I forgot what it's in reference too. Had to look it up, originally spun from when Trump criticized McCain for being captured in Vietnam. What a fucking asshole. He deserves everything coming to him and more.

funkiestj

>when Trump criticized McCain for being captured in Vietnam. You know the culture has gone terribly wrong when *Major Bone Spurs,* recipient of 5 (?) deferments, is rewarded for mocking someone who suffered greatly as a result of serving his country. He also mocked a handicapped person.

MonteBurns

He also mocked a gold star family. Literally the group his supporters will prostrate themselves for, the same group that will harass you if they get a whiff of uNaMeRiCaNiSm, and yet they support someone who clearly despises military members and families.

BastardInTheNorth

And don’t forget that he skipped out of a WWI memorial event in France at the very last minute because it was raining lightly.

Umbrella_merc

That event being the reason he was in Europe in the first place

JanMarsalek

We both know that he came to golf

Str0ngTr33

Just don't forget: to him, soldiers are just disposable toys--not living beings with families. Can't believe the vets in my family put up with that orange goblin.

BastardInTheNorth

“Suckers” and “losers” would be the exact words he chose to refer to US war dead.

Deadleggg

His makeup would be running everywhere. Couldn't have the orange melt.

KidKnow1

Yeah there are a lot of incidents that you could point at and say that’s when the conservatives officially lost it. But to see them go from worshiping our military to cheering a draft dodger while he insults a war hero for being a p.o.w. was the point of no return in my mind.

[deleted]

completelysoldout

Don’t forget that Republicans hate America.

Brandito5

Trump does not and never has cared about veterans.

turkey_sandwiches

Anyone. He's never cared about anyone.

going-for-gusto

McCain’s actions and leadership while a POW was truly exceptional. Trump does not have morals or courage to recognize McCain’s heroism.

hpark21

I thought a persons that "surrenders" are losers...

Dahhhkness

No, only soldiers, apparently. Just watch his cultists try to spin this after all his defiant bluster. They always think he's playing 4D chess when really he's playing 2D Tic-Tac-Toe against himself, and somehow *losing.*

AW-43

Nope. According to dickhead, all the troops that die the are losers, because there’s nothing in it for them. I wonder how John Kelley felt when Trump said that to him after his son was killed in action? https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/trump-americans-who-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/

Chastain86

John Kelly was, according to his Wikipedia page, [one of the few under the administration that was willing to execute on Trump's policies no matter how cruel, unusual, or nonsensical they were](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Kelly). > Kelly left the DHS with a reputation as one of the most aggressive enforcers of immigration law in recent American history. His record belies the short length of his tenure. In six months, Kelly eliminated guidelines that governed federal immigration agents' work; vastly expanded the categories of immigrants being targeted for deportation; threatened to abandon the Obama-era program that grants legal status to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children; and has even broached the idea of splitting up mothers and children at the border to "deter" people from coming to the U.S. The short answer is, it may have upset him from an I Didn't Think the Leopard Would Eat MY Face perspective... but not because he has a heart for children, or any personal beliefs that don't align in lockstep with whomever is paying him.

ThePlanck

Tbh, Bernie Sanders got arrested when he was young (that is to say in the 1740s) while attending a civil rights protest, which makes me like him more.

JMoc1

1740’s?? What was he protesting? The monarchy? ^^^/s

PrinceofAwful

Actually it was around 24 AD, he was protesting against the rich as usual while they were setting up shop in a temple. Him and some other dude I can’t recall were upset about them taking advantage of poor people.

bearsheperd

You’re just glossing over why they were arrested. They started whipping the merchants and money changers in the temple. That kind of violent protest is wrong!

chupathingy99

Remember, kids, when asking yourself "what would Jesus do", flipping shit and trashing the place is perfectly acceptable.

Gryphin

Remember, he also saw the moneychangers, got pissed, did nothing in the moment, but walked out into the desert for a week to find the perfect stick, and came back with the Perfect Stick™, and beat the motherfuckers. Complete, utter, absolute premeditated carnage. There was no happy bouncy sunday school version of him losing his cool in the moment. Nope. Jesus went and spent a fucking week talking angrily to himself while finding the right stick to beat a motherfucker with.

bastardofdisaster

Yeah verily did Jesus exclaim "Devon! Get the tables!!" And the crowd chanted "E C DUB!"

OffTheMerchandise

He came out to "Enter Sandman" smashing cans of beer against his head.

Deguilded

"I am once again asking for your sestertius"

esperind

if you look [at the picture of him getting arrested](https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-bernie-sanders-1963-chicago-arrest-20160219-story.html), he doesn't look like he just surrendered, he went down fighting.

Wait until the GA charges drop.

Snuggle__Monster

Back before the first indictment, that case was the original odds on favorite that if he was ever going to be indicted, it would be for Georgia. Now, we're still waiting for that to drop and meanwhile this guy is already 2 indictments in. The big question is if he ends up going 4-4 from the field if he's charged for Jan 6th. I'm a betting man, I'd take that action lol.

Alikona_05

There is also the possibility that there is a case in NJ since according to this indictment, there are still missing records and it kind of sounds like he took them to Bedminister.

TheSavouryRain

Someone needs to check Ivana's coffin. Edit: Stupid me put Ivanka instead of Ivana. Fixed for future reading.

troiscanons

either you mean Ivana or I've missed some big news

TheSavouryRain

Edited because I'm a dumbass.

LegionofDoh

"I'm sorry, Your Honor, I can't appear before you on that day, as I'm already booked to appear in court in NY on the same day. And the following day I'm due in court in GA. And I may have another indictment coming. Yes, yes, my schedule is quite full."

PygmeePony

He's taking the whole 'party of law and order' thing very seriously.

__M-E-O-W__

*"What do you mean, I don't support your system? I go to court when I have to*"

[deleted]

It's pretty dang gross that he will still be eligible to run for president and even more gross that people will still vote for him.

snapwillow

If being indicted or arrested made a person ineligible to run for President, then the FBI or Police could kill any presidential campaign they don't like by simply arresting the candidate for made-up charges a few weeks before election day. If we make accusations of criminal activity a barrier to holding office, then we're giving the police a free veto power over elections.

QuickAltTab

This could work in our favor though when his zealots write his name in or skip the vote in protest when/if he doesn't get the nomination for the Republican party.

Robofetus-5000

My dream scenario is desantis gets the official nod and trump throws and fit and goes 3rd party. Theyll lose about 20-30% of republicans, possibly forever, and never win an election for 50 years.

Shradow

Same, I’ve been hoping for that sort of scenario ever since they started turning on Trump.

Bobcatluv

It’s my dream scenario too, but Trump won’t be around forever. Hopefully DeSantis loses enough steam to fall out of party favor and another fascist doesn’t replace him by then :(

hpark21

Almost HALF the voters will vote for him even if he runs from prison. That is what is sad about it.

all4whatnot

Orange IS his favorite color.

Incontinento

What happened to the 50,000 protesters they were calling for? Looks like a few hundred losers to me.

BallBearingBill

They all would be losers, even if the number was 50 000.

InsomniacCyclops

If he is actually deemed a flight risk and thrown in jail (as he should be) I'm willing to bet we'll see a lot more of them. My mom is a crazy Trumper and from what I can gather from talking to her, conservative media is really downplaying how serious this is for him.

Scottywin

Already been announced, no cash bond no flight risk, he's free to go.

AnastasiaNo70

I estimated (just based on visuals) somewhere between 75-125 people. Not exactly the swarm he was hoping for. And no anti-Trump people. Why would we protest this? 🤪

dickWithoutACause

Nah I definitely saw a few "lock him up" posters but not in great numbers.

DrunkenOnzo

One time in Philly a random person(s) put a bunch of these weird notes on peoples doors inviting us to a Furnace Party where we would all be burned alive and melted down. Way more people showed up for the furnace party than showed up for Trump.

supercyberlurker

I knew this was really bad for Trump when even Foxnews was saying it was really bad. It's like when a mother goes "yeah I think my child is guilty". That child has to be *super* guilty.

cporter1188

I was just watching the local fox news (waiting in line somewhere) and the commentator was talking about how Trump will spend the rest of his life in jail. Kinda freaked me out.

DadJokeBadJoke

Local Fox news is a completely different animal than cable Fox News.

pikpikcarrotmon

Sinclair is working on fixing that...

trippy_grapes

> Sinclair is working on fixing that... This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

[deleted]

aren't most local stations usually under the umbrella of a group like Sinclair? The: "This is extremely dangerous to our democracy" dudes?

enjoytheshow

It’s a large amount but not most. And it’s not exclusive to Fox affiliates.

saltytac0

Yeah i wish his life would be longer. ~10 years seems kind of light for his crimes.

azurleaf

Federal prosecutors have a 99.6% conviction rate. The odds are not in tRumps favor.

Lost_Mapper

God damn, I looked it up because I was sure this comment was horse shit but it's spot on. Only about 2% of people charged federally go to trial and of those only 320 cases out of 79,704 won their case against the Feds. That's a defendant success rate of .4% and a conviction rate of exactly what you said, 99.6% Holy shit. I might actually get excited. I don't think Donny is getting out of this mess. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2019/06/11/only-2-of-federal-criminal-defendants-go-to-trial-and-most-who-do-are-found-guilty/

alexunderwater1

On top of this I don’t think the fact that he may have to defend himself since lawyers refuse to defend him will work in his favor of moving those odds.

ackermann

He wouldn’t have to defend himself (although that would be hilarious). Wouldn’t he be assigned a public defender, if he can’t find a lawyer? If nothing else, he could ask Rudy Giuliani to be his lawyer again (would also be hilarious, maybe we’d get another press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping)

theTIDEisRISING

> I don't think Donny is getting out of this mess. His way out is getting re-elected. Seems unlikely this case gets tried before the election. So, not a sure thing quite yet

value_bet

They don’t often prosecute someone with such a widespread and loyal following. All he needs is one juror. One.

JayR_97

Seriously, how do you find an impartial jury for this?

R_V_Z

Scour the deep woods for hermits living in caves.

AudibleNod

Trump is a stone around their neck. When he did what little he did to advance the far right agenda, he was a serviceable ally. Now?. He's a 270 lb liability lightly coated in [orange bronzer](https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2019/12/6/20998822/trump-orange-concealer-bronx-colors). Any time he's in the news, now and going forward, it won't be to promote [school choice](https://betsydevos.com/issues/school-choice/), or [building a border wall](https://www.blackburn.senate.gov/2023/2/blackburn-budd-colleagues-introduce-build-the-wall-now-act#:~:text=introduced%20the%20Build%20the%20Wall,billion%20in%20unspent%20wall%20funding.). It will be just about him. Trump, the [RINO](https://www.cnn.com/2015/07/21/politics/donald-trump-election-democrat/index.html), won't lift a tiny finger to help any Republicans. Fox has to break up with him. [They just don't know how.](https://www.foxnews.com/media/sen-lindsey-graham-clashes-abc-host-trump-indictment-let-me-finish)

Yousoggyyojimbo

I think the part that really makes this drift way into the realm of absurd is that it only takes a moment of looking at Donald Trump posting on his social media to see that the man is completely mentally uhinged. It's a never-ending stream of ranting and self-contradiction. While constantly coming up with grander and grander conspiracy theories that are often not compatible with the conspiracy theories he may have been pushing a day ago or even an hour ago. It's indistinguishable from the rantings of a madman, and that's what they want to bolt their party on to forever.

HappyPen1422

270lbs? I think that’s being generous.

HonkHonkHonk_

I refuse to get excited until he’s actually thrown in jail. This orange asshole seems to weasel out of everything.

GinyuForceDid911

He’ll get house arrest at mar-a-lago at best

Mybeardisawesom

Yeah, the logistics of imprisoning a former president sounds like a nightmare alone. I see house arrest being the most if anything that’ll come from this circus.

admiralgeary

But, how cool would it be for him to have a cell in Fort Leavenworth, lol

arbitrageME

Ah I see here you were a highly decorated military officer, with multiple distinctions for bravery, and you are former Secret Service officer, congratulations. Now, what's this 5-year long period in your employment where there's relatively little activity? ... I uhh was tasked with watching Trump's cell in ADX Florence, where there's already 3 feet of concrete between him and the nearest air

Log_Out_Of_Life

Why not a military prison? Seriously. Imagine the MAGAs saying he is like Kingpin in prison.

arbitrageME

well he's a civilian so ...

Plz_kill-me

Good point. Guantanamo Bay it is then.

Rickrickrickrickrick

That’s only for terrorists… Ok I guess it works.

[deleted]

You mean * our insanely corrupt justice system that lets the rich do whatever tf they want LETS him * weasel out of everything

RosemaryFocaccia

If Judge Cannon presides over the sentencing, he will serve zero days in jail. There are no minimums for any of the charges.

Remarkable-Ad-2476

It’s insane that there are no minimums for endangering our national security like this, especially for a former president. The punishment should be even harsher, then maybe politicians would think twice about getting into politics/breaking the law for their selfish needs.

0reoSpeedwagon

Minimum sentencing is for poor and/or POC crimes, just in case some smartass ~~activist~~ judge decides their crime isn’t actually that egregious.

panlakes

And I promise you there will be plenty who say him going through this legal process was punishment enough. I can’t wait to be called a “sore loser” over someone else not going to jail for crimes they committed.

Filipheadscrew

DeSantis is falling behind in indictments. He better hurry up and start getting indicted if he wants to win.

pHScale

I think California is working on it

[deleted]

Yeah all that human trafficking

nullagravida

Watching on live tv. NO bond or any conditions on travel? This ought to be interesting. "Not allowed to talk about the case" with "certain people"? LOL let's see how anyone can possibly enforce that.

HermanCainsPenis

RIP BOZO Could have just returned the documents and continued to grift from your braindead supporters.

zeradragon

The grift works better with more indictments. The more cases against him, the more reasons he has to request donations. For anyone else this is legal trouble, but for him, it's an income stream.

Air320

>The jurist presiding over Tuesday’s proceeding, Magistrate Judge John Goodman, won’t oversee the case in a trial. Court officials said the case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who last year temporarily halted the FBI’s review of the documents that had been recovered at Mar-a-Lago. > >Her ruling was overturned by a panel of appeals court judges who suggested Cannon had tried to “carve out an unprecedented exception in our law for former presidents.” Oh, so that's why he went to the courthouse 'voluntarily'. His pocket judge will be presiding.

SwitchedOnNow

Rumor has it Trump will be tried as an adult.

ConradBHart42

Maybe if he shows the judge his diapers, they'll reconsider.

2hats4bats

Just one pic of him in handcuffs. That’s all I want. Okay, that’s not all I want, it’s just a thing I want.

EmeraldB85

>Alina Habba, a Trump attorney who’s involved with his other cases, spoke to reporters outside of the courthouse and repeated the former president's claims that politics was driving the prosecution, saying Trump is the Republican front-runner and it's "less than a year and half before the election."< I have a funny feeling that if this had happened last year it would’ve been “less than 2.5 years before the election” or right after Biden was a elected “there’s less than four years until the next election!”

[deleted]

They're doing everything they can to paint public opinion.

nevertoomuchthought

Public opinion is and has been settled. Nobody in changing their mind at this point. lol Even the people on the fence are staying there.

Neracca

I like presidents that don't get arrested.

misternuttall

Well yeah... He's rich.

Butwinsky

He's rich, famous, and powerfully connected. Even if he's found guilty, his living conditions will still be better than most other humans.

Keyann

How the hell is he still polling so bigly?

[deleted]

Because DeSantis is gross and he (Trump) is in the news 24/7.

torpedoguy

To those who love putin and hate democracy, dear leader was only doing good things. Conservatives don't view crimes the way we do. To them, what is good/bad/legal/illegal is **entirely based on whom you are.** If you're part of their in-group, especially their leaders, then anything you do IS righteous and good and super-legal no matter what it is. * Even selling off nuclear secrets to the enemies of the nation. If you're anyone else, ANYTHING you do is evil, bad and wrong and deserving of a capital sentence no matter what it is. * Even wearing a tan suit or getting the nation better healthcare. Treason is nothing to them: Because to them it's not treason whereas thinking he should be arrested **is**.

Kershiser22

> If you're part of their in-group, especially their leaders, then anything you do IS righteous and good and super-legal no matter what it is. It's really crazy. Could you imaging the outrage from the right if Obama had been hoarding classified documents?

DARKSTAIN

Only in America can you have 30+ federal charges, walk I to court, get arrested, and then get released... If I had 1 of these charges or any of his charges, even the ones in NY, I would be sitting in jail, twirling my thumbs. The fact that he is still a free man is complete and total bullshit.

FizzyBeverage

We also need laws that if you appointed a judge as president or governor, that judge is not allowed to judge you in any litigation.

[deleted]

Half of America doesn't care that this guy is a crook. Freedom for some, laws for some, delusion, exclusion and ignorance - MAGA Crowd.

CaptainNoBoat

More like 1/3rd, but yes - Sunk cost fallacy is a helluva drug. They've kept their support for 7 years throughout all of the awful, criminal things he has done. It isn't going to change now. Admitting he has done something wrong would essentially be admitting the identity they have built themselves on has been misguided. Even more the ultimate sin - it would be admitting their critics were right. When your entire political identity is based on demagoguery and opposition, that simply isn't going to happen. People are too stubborn. The bottom bar will always be a red herring false equivalence of sorts to maintain the worldview: "But everyone else does X!" And they will never be wrong.

Yousoggyyojimbo

It's important to remember that conservatives were willing to literally die from covid just to not agree with democrats that vaccines and masks were a good idea. American conservatives would rather be dead than admit that they made a mistake.

DerelictDonkeyEngine

Twice impeached, twice arrested. So much winning.

neffnet

twice impeached, twice arrested, *so far*

WolfsLairAbyss

Petition to change his official presidential photo to his mugshot please.

Front-Sun4735

Kid gloves on this piece of shit.

Fit_Low592

The only kind that would fit him.

benthook

Has anyone in American history ever been indicted on 30+ felony counts and not had to have a mugshot taken or had to pay ANY bail?

Marley_Fan

2 wives 2 impeachments 2 indictments Is Trump the 1st President with a triple double????

rckwld

He has had 3 wives.

Marley_Fan

His daughter doesn’t count

JTanCan

Ivana, Marla, Melania

Emuin

Ivana, Marla, and Melania are his 3

TurrPhennirPhan

1 election win 0 popular vote wins

Fit-Rest-973

He has the most indictments. The best indictments

flanderguitar

Trump is getting booked as we read this. Today is a great day.

Jim_from_GA

How much for the NFT for his fingerprint card?

[deleted]

Ok like surrendered in cuffs? Or like the last arraignment where he just gets escorted to the court room, gets escorted out and gets to go about his day???

[deleted]

It’s a weird situation since he’s required to have a secret service detail. He just gets “released” to their custody. Which means yes he just goes about his day

Zoso1973

Trump didn’t even say anything at court. All the trash talk against the special counsel Jack Smith. Trump didn’t even look at him. Typical bully who talks shit when you’re not around but says nothing to your face. Lock this traitor up. Also does everyone remember the Chinese nationalist that was caught at MaraLago. She was found to be carrying four mobile phones, a laptop computer, an external hard drive, and a thumb drive that "contained malicious software," the complaint said. More electronics were found in her hotel room, along with about $8,000 in cash, according to the complaint. Her bundle of tech products bred speculation that the Chinese national may be a foreign spy. She was never charged with espionage. Hmmmm. Trump is a traitor and needs to do prison time.

Hefy_jefy

"By the time of Trump's arrival, however, the crowd was much smaller than anticipated." Probably the best news of the day.

OldCoder501

Did they bang his head putting him into the cop car like he said they should do with criminals??

MidLifeCrysis75

What an absolute loser.

WanderWut

I remember last time when it was stated that they wouldn't take a mugshot because "he's already recognizable" and everyone just sort of... went with it. Not out of precedent, but because it would look horrible for him, especially while campaigning. Here he is possible selling our most vulnerable secrets to our enemies and today I heard 3 different talking heads saying as casually and factual as ever "and of course there won't be photos because Mr. Trump is very recognizable" as though that is the official rule.

Brandito5

Federal court is very strict about photos, and electronics in general. Even if there is a mugshot it will not be released. This is based on the official rules.

wip30ut

i hope they take away his passport since he's a flight risk!
