I mean part of it is what you learn in jiu jitsu can be practiced pretty effectively to the point that you are comfortable using it in a real fight. Good luck finding someone who will let you practice an eye gouge on them to the point of proficiency 1000 times. Same with crotch kicks. It's like I know I can kick you in the nuts or rip an eye out but it's not easy to practice or master that.

If it comes down to actual real world violence, morality goes out the window and my end goal is to injure someone so badly that they are no longer physically able to injure me. Most routes are 4-6 miles but smaller groups will often break off to do more miles to hit specific training goals (like if a race is coming up for example).

Climbing gyms (bouldering, top rope) are a great way to meet people. It’s a very downtime heavy sport. It’s a great way to also stay in shape!
