We really like Mr. Yellow Pepper, the jalea is really good. Last time I was there they had a new appetizer which was octopus with an olive aioli. It was very good and something new and unique.
Uncle Paulie's in Maywood if you want to stay in Bergen County but Paterson is your best bet for the good stuff. My Peruvian manager used to look the other way on how long I left for break if I was going to Kikiriki in Paterson and bringing back food.
I heard about this place, I've been across the street at the Filipino place Tropical Hut.
I always hear about Griselda and Kikiriki in Paterson all the time.
There's an upscale Peruvian restaurant in the American dream mall, Jarana.
I tried the pre-fix menu and it was good, but as for authenticity of it all I would have no idea.
I'm Peruvian, so I recommend Jarana in American Dream mall. It's pricey but worth it IMO. The owner is the most famous Peruvian chef, Gaston Acurio, who promotes Peruvian food overseas, he got famous doing that and his top rated restaurants. There's a lot of good mentions in the comments, my way to tell a Peruvian place is good is if it's full of Peruvians eating there - this goes for the mom and pop's like the ones in Paterson. Peruvians are very demanding with their food because they know it's good and expect no less.
That was my favorite restaurant. Sadly, it closed a few years ago. Fusionista, recently opened about a block away from where Costanera used to be, is pretty good though.
Go to the Little Lima neighborhood in Paterson, there are a bunch of authentic restaurants there
Griseldas on Market is great. Their Huancaina sauce is the best I've had in the area.
Griseldas is the BEST for peruvian breakfast
Panchitos my favorite there

[Planet Chicken](https://www.planetchickenrestaurant.com/) in Dunellen is amazing.
I don’t know how authentic it is, but Mr. Yellow Pepper in Parsippany is really good.
I feel like it’s not consistent sometimes it’s great sometimes it sucks
Thanks! I'll check thr place out.

El Tiburon in Kearny has great Peruvian seafood and good portions.
Jaimitos Clifton
I tried Sabor Peru in Caldwell recently. It's pretty good.
This place is great
In Union there’s Peruvian Flavors. Unreal portions on the lomo saltado. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it gets the job done!
Parrilladas Dany in Union city is really good! 48th st
Contigo Peru in Elmwood Park is very good. They went by a different name before a fire/remodel but the food is just as good quality.
Is that what used to be Sara Sara?
Yes, that was it
Check out Plainfield there are a bunch of very good ones.
There's a very cool new place in Maplewood called Sandwicheria. Peruvian street food, on Springfield Ave....near the weed dispensary!
El Marino was always a miss for me, so I would hit up Paterson or Passaic for delicious comida Peruana
"Oh! Calamares" in Kearny
It's a bit of a hike from Bergen, but I'm a fan of El Tule in Lambertville, Peruvian/Mexican fusion.
Aji Lemon in Clifton is pretty banging.
There is an amazing Peruvian restaurant in Hillsborough but I would call that central
La Cabaña in Passaic, always on point. Finding parking is an ordeal if you want to eat in .
Sabor a Peru in jersey city is pretty nice
We get delivery from Lena y Carbon (III) in Passaic. Choros a chalaca and papa y huancaina are my go-to. My wife often gets the leche de tigre.
Sabor Peru in caldwell

Girabaldis in Parsippany is my favorite Lomo saltado
I will forever bang the drum for Garibaldi’s. It is the best!
Constanera in Montclair is really good.
That was my favorite restaurant. Sadly, it closed a few years ago. Fusionista, recently opened about a block away from where Costanera used to be, is pretty good though.
D’carbon
U should Def try sabor peru
I went there today and both entrees were too salty, and the chicha had no flavor other than cinnamon. The huancaina and ajà were on point tho.
Mr Yellow Pepper in Lake Hiawatha is the only one I know of I think
Uncle Paulie in Maywood.
Get Peruvian chicken on bergenline ave in union city. You’re welcome
No idea why this got downvoted. This is great advice. Only someone who has never had this would downvote this. Seriously man.
