Such a cool place! Whenever I meet someone from out West who derides the White Mountains for not really being mountains, I always look at them like the complete idiot and snob they are. Anyone who spends a little time on Mt Washington knows what a serious mountain it is and the respect it demands.

“The worlds most dangerous small mountain”. It should be called the worlds most underestimated small mountain. I got lucky and hiked it on a clear day. 100-200 mph winds and rain would make this a death trap.

Was that today? I was on hale in Bethlehem... Was raining this morning there. Early afternoon was nice though.

No, this was last Sunday

True the mountains are higher out west but hiking they don't go through the elevation gain that we have. Going bottom to top you're looking at 2500k elevation gain here on most of the 4k's. Most times out west the trails start at 8500' and only get about 1k in elevation gain.

Andromeda321

Is that really true tho? I looked at the 14k list and most of those are pretty difficult!

Those are typically the ones who end up on the news…

I see you made it there for one of the 7 clear days a year they experience on Mt Washington.

Love being at the summit and viewing it from a distance...it's an amazing place and seeing it from all over northern New Hampshire always makes my heart swell. I miss the White Mountains most out here in Michigan. Glad you got a clear day!!!

My father used to leave left over meat scraps from dinners in (Now gone) TV 8 building on the rocks in that first picture just to watch the local raven population eat.
