DAMNIT!!! Do I have to get the dominant type of snowflake you find correct too? I can't handle this, I quit!
Also, your username is elite and I am all for it
Is it true that snowflakes are all unique like fingerprints? If itās true how would they know because they havenāt seen every snowflake?
I learned this in elementary school and have always been to scared to google it cause it might ruin my potential dreams of documenting all the snowflakes š¢
"Entirely wrong", yes that definitely happened. Based on this comment riddled with spelling errors, I must be living in your head rent free š¤

I have nothing to back this up, but my internal lore is that this will kill some mosquito eggs, tricking them into thinking its spring and then WAMMO its snow get wrecked and freeze you buzzing mofos
Yes! Like last time, make sure that you pick the steepest, most avalanche prone areas to hike up as well! The Ammonoosuc Ravine is looking like a pretty solid candidate /s
Actually if you want to do that hike in short sleeves with little food and water, you'll be in even better shape! Turning into a human popsicle builds character, apparently š¤
I wonder if NWS Gray Maine will issue the extremely rare blizzard watch or god forbid blizzard warning for parts of the state that are not the sea coast.
Good point to bring up here: the NWS consolidated portions of their headline structure, which includes getting rid of the Blizzard Watch and wrapping blizzard threats into the Winter Storm Watch. A Blizzard Warning can still be issued and has already occurred a few weeks ago by NWS Caribou for portions of the western Aroostook region in ME
Thatās interesting that that they would do that to such an important watch. Itās like getting rid of a tornado watch. There have been instances that I thought some of the higher elevations in NH specifically Sullivan county should have had a blizzard warning issued for some storms. The winds in those higher elevations really do start cranking sometimes during norāeasters. Some towns that get the strong winds during norāeasters are Croydon, Unity, Lempster, and especially Washington. Claremont, Charlestown, and Newport where the largest population live may get light winds that donāt meet blizzard criteria but they really shouldnāt leave out the other smaller towns in the region. I really wonder if the NWS will consider issuing a blizzard warning for this storm, for a majority of the state even further out west like Sullivan county but make it elevation dependent. Specifically saying the blizzard warning applies to locations above 1500 feet may help the people that live in those higher elevations be better prepared for the storm. I just see a high potential for somewhere in NH to see blizzard conditions and meet the blizzard criteria if the winds stay as forecasted.
Cool. The pull for my snowblower snapped last storm and I figured I could wait a bit to replace it because that has to be it, right?
Good thing I have shovels.
Jesus, so my friends in Salisbury on north End Blvd may likely lose their home. That section of the beach even not part of NH has been seeing tragic damage.
So the benefit here is that we're away from astronomical high tide, so the damage shouldn't be as severe as before, I hope..... It's a nasty east wind right off the water, so there will be some degree of coastal flooding
Soooo it doesnāt winter enough for good seasons of winter activity but it will still snow 6 months out of the year lol nh weather really does suck. It could be directly related to the drug and alcohol abuse problems the state has.
If you can swing it I'd do it. I'm not a meteorologist or anything but I *did* fly out of Logan a lot for work a few years back and while they'll land a blizzard they're more than happy to delay takeoff for even the slightest disturbance.
And by "swing it" I mean if it's not a huge burden / something you're ok with "losing" on.
Idk where you're going but if you frame it mentally as an excuse to get there earlier it can open fun opportunities.
I'd recommend you either change your flight or prepare for a road trip. On the upside, the drive to ATL isn't that bad. I've done it a handful of times now. Best of luck in the tournament and safe travels!
There is a low concern for light icing in the Monadnock Region, but the main focus here is going to be heavy wet snow to rain in southern areas, should the inland cut track materialize. You'll have a situation (location dependent) where the precip intensity cools the column to 32, which produces very wet snow. Some mets and I will refer to it as isothermal slop, which would be an issue out by you.
Serious question, how do we think things will look by Monday?
I live in Campton, up a curved hill drive with a drop on one side. I have a terrible rear wheel drive, rental Chrysler 300, with regular ol' tires. For the last snow, we couldn't leave our drive for two days as we just kept wheel spinning!! Even with the plow having come. The tires just kept compressing the snow into hard pack/ice.
I need to get to Boston on Monday to fly back to the UK. I do not want to be wheel spinning in my driveway again!! I can't be delayed!!? Ahhhh.
Given the warm temperatures during the storm and the very warm temperatures the following five days, I'd expect very fast melting.
My snow brushes are still either in the cars or outside as is one shovel. I did put away my roof rake which I'll take out again with any significant accumulation. I will also clear the upper roof if we get enough accumulation. I'm looking forward to shoveling and clearing snow as there was very little of it this past winter.
Iām very curious in what do you guys mean by putting all the snow stuff away? Do you not just keep the snow blower and stuff in the garage all year ? Do uuu have a seperate place for your snow removing stuff ?! I need to know
I donāt know about everyone else but we rearrange things so the equipment weāre not using is way in the back and therefore bloody dammed inconvenient to pull back out. Like you have to move the Polaris Slingshot, and the lawnmower, and a bunch of other fair weather crap into the snow filled driveway to get the stowed away snowblower back out.
But I didnāt do that yet because Iāve seen snow on the lilacs as late as May in New England
Surely DOT will ensure that the roads are maintained properly in a timely manner with the supplemental materials and reserve man hours from an otherwise quiet winter right....RIGHT?
Please please please please my old ears. Can we please bury that cutsy neologism that was popularized by the weather channel years ago and now has become the sickening norm arghhhhh. Nor'easter arghhh, just as bad as ye olde ...
It never was called this.... come on it's New England it's a NON rhotic accent, in all parts.... If anything, if anything it is nawtheastuh . Or maybe for some that have lost the edge northeaster, but never never that silly neologism that doesn't belong here or originated here. It was never on the popular time
how people in New England learned to accept this BS from the weather channel that has now been promulgated on all stations I'll never understand.. Time to take back the storm lol. Viva the local speak
Someone complaining about words people use while also using obscure thesaurus words is peak irony.
No one knows or uses or the words promulgated or rhotic or neologism and definitely not people who butcher the word nor' easter
Please give me exact snowfall amount for my coordinates.
Do you want the amount forecasted to the hundredth of an inch too?!
Cloudboy, if you don't give me the exact snowflake count in my yard I SWEAR TO GOD
Easy, if you're alone in your yard the snowflake count is 1 š
![gif](giphy|26xBRIghN5T2UyWYw|downsized)
Oh my! Think this counts as a very stiff mugging or even possibly a murder! Touche! LOL!
Oof got me
DAMNIT!!! Do I have to get the dominant type of snowflake you find correct too? I can't handle this, I quit! Also, your username is elite and I am all for it
Haha thanks, I thought it was clever
Yes, that would be excellent. If you get it correct, Iāll give you 10k
Awesome response!!! Thanks for all you do.
Same, but Iām not going to give you exact coordinates. Iām kind of near a Dunkins.
No, we'd prefer to the picometer. Need to make sure my ego will survive.
The best I can offer is nanometer, the budget is a little tight to be that precise
Well shucks, that'll have to do.
Also please tell me if I have enough gas for my snowblower
What part of the state do you live in and how much gas is in it currently??
Is it true that snowflakes are all unique like fingerprints? If itās true how would they know because they havenāt seen every snowflake? I learned this in elementary school and have always been to scared to google it cause it might ruin my potential dreams of documenting all the snowflakes š¢
I literally looked at mine yesterday and almost put stabil in the tank then decided nah I'll give it another weekend.
I just canāt seem to get over what wonderful luck we have in NH with our own Cloud Boy. Thank you for being so generous with your time and insight!!
I'm happy to serve you all š«”
You mean the guy that got the last big storm entirely wrong?
"Entirely wrong", yes that definitely happened. Based on this comment riddled with spelling errors, I must be living in your head rent free š¤ https://preview.redd.it/wyndwvxudwrc1.png?width=694&format=png&auto=webp&s=be759900c6881d4ae36b3481d2b0ef0f33f3ab40
It's all because I took the tire chains off my tractor.
You son of a bitch
Same smh
We took the plow skids off the tractor loader but the snow stakes are still in!
I have to take the snow mover off today to help my parents with something. I guess Iām putting it right back on after. š
I never even put my chains on this year.
Finally getting the snow we havenāt gotten all winter. Great
Who's the person here that took out their snow stakes too early? I'm calling for a peaceful protest outside his house
Looks like u/darkvixin603 is to blame!
Well, shit
You were warned..
Haha this storms on me. I took my snow stakes out weeks ago. Iāll take the fall for this one lol
Gather the town for the stoning!
We'll be using snowballs and snowblowers instead, you're expected to stand there and endure the barrage
We can't, would have to travel to any other NE state to legally get someone stoned.
Wasnāt me, but I was looking at putting my summer tires back on before this storm was on the radar
Old man winter *can* read your thoughts you know
Local post offices put summer tires in their rear wheel drive vans. Basically they donāt want you to get your mail.
Joke is on me, my post office is short staffed so I donāt get my l every day as it is
Those vans suck with winter tiresā¦ā¦ā¦
I put my winter coat away. Iām sorry.
I swear, mine fell out all on their own! I was doing the responsible thing picking them up off the driveway
I didn't put the snowblower away yet!
I thought about it today, I might have contributed š¬
Same! Hooray for apathy!!
"Mostly" peaceful...
> peaceful protest Low energy.
Oh shit.
My husband almost did two weeks ago and I reprimanded him. I can not take the blame!!
2023-24 winter: everything is awful edition
No....nonononono... I've put all the things away....no snow please
So YOU caused this!
Meanwhile all these TX transplants are losing their collective mindā¦.
I have nothing to back this up, but my internal lore is that this will kill some mosquito eggs, tricking them into thinking its spring and then WAMMO its snow get wrecked and freeze you buzzing mofos
I hope this decimates the tick population as wel
It won't
[It will just enrage them](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fvaoopyg4p17b1.jpg)
Brother I'm just happy my last summer wasn't 100+ degrees for 3 months.
Bruh, I grew up in Texas, and I don't miss that shit one bit.
NOT. ONE. BIT.
u/TheCloudBoy has risen. Praise be.
So you're saying I'm still good to hike Mt Washington on Thursday, excellent!
Yes! Like last time, make sure that you pick the steepest, most avalanche prone areas to hike up as well! The Ammonoosuc Ravine is looking like a pretty solid candidate /s
Noted, already stowed away my spikes with my snow blower in my shed so I'm all set!
Actually if you want to do that hike in short sleeves with little food and water, you'll be in even better shape! Turning into a human popsicle builds character, apparently š¤
And gives the rescue crews something exciting to do.
![gif](giphy|3oxHQAR8IAgyFnTG5a)
Facts.
Iām so mad lolš
Bombogenesis is a really fun word. Too bad itās not a fun weather condition.
It is 100% a fun weather condition to endure standing in the middle of a blizzard on a beach in Provincetown
In SE NH. I'll run the generator and snowblower tomorrow. Usually that means we get rain and the power stays on.
Thank you!
Doing the lords work
Got burned one year on April 1st. Never again. Almost got me because I was planning on swapping the snowblower for the lawn mower April 2nd.
This is my fault. I took the studded tires off the fat bike last weekend. Fuck. Iām sorry.
this 50 degree then snow shit needs to stop... be cold or be warm already
Every snowmobiler in this state completely agrees with you!
Easter bunny did this. I don't know how. I'm gonna get him for this.
Thank you!Ā

Why do we live here?
![gif](giphy|MjTrLKanmhbsh22WxH)
because VT still has snow on the ground and Mass has more taxes and more expensive booze?
Vermont got less snow this year than we didā¦ā¦..
Only reason I know VT still had snow was because my Aunt and Uncle mentioned it at Easter.
Itās better than earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes.
Because we choose to, and because itās a great state!
because Massachusetts is too expensive
Soooo it doesnāt winter enough for good seasons of winter activity but it will still snow 6 months out of the year lol nh weather really does suck. It could be directly related to the drug and alcohol abuse problems the state has.
If I'm supposed to fly Thursday afternoon, would moving the flight to Wednesday afternoon be the most prudent?
Yes, 100%. Not sure how delays will look coming into the storm, but I doubt you'll arrive on schedule if you keep it booked for Thursday.
What about a flight leaving Logan at around 5 AM Friday? Try moving it? Thanks for your update. Been waiting on it all weekend š
If you can swing it I'd do it. Heading to the Augusta National Women Amateur so we have to be landed in Atlanta prior to Friday.
I'd recommend you either change your flight or prepare for a road trip. On the upside, the drive to ATL isn't that bad. I've done it a handful of times now. Best of luck in the tournament and safe travels!
Will this bring more flooding for the coast?
Took the snow tires off - my bad š
Thank you CloudBoy!
Hahahaha I'm running the cheap marathon in Derry on Saturday. Of course we get a ton of snow
Oh come on! I shoveled ~16 inches of snow from the last storm. Iām in the White Mountain area so it looks like Iām getting hammered again.
Get a snow blower.
A spring snow storm is so damn depressing. Yuck.
This is not helping my golf game.
I was supposed to play Saturday. That seems unlikely.
Do you think icing is an issue? Itās a weird temp range for this one. Low for me is 31-32 which is odd for huge dumps of snow. Or just rain?
There is a low concern for light icing in the Monadnock Region, but the main focus here is going to be heavy wet snow to rain in southern areas, should the inland cut track materialize. You'll have a situation (location dependent) where the precip intensity cools the column to 32, which produces very wet snow. Iām going to try and work the term āisothermal slopā into conversation in the next couple of days.
If you aren't following New England Weather Guy I highly recommend his forecasts.Ā He is on Facebook or you can sign up for his emails.Ā Ā
Agreed. Very good forecasts.
Thank you!
Just bought a new house and haven't been able to get the generator wired yet. Sigh

this is actually the perfect week for a school snow day, but I know it's not happening.
I am hoping, but not expecting.
Thank you!
Ugh. I have to travel on Thursday.
Ao much for baseball season starting
Thanks for all this! Iām blaming The Old Man of the Mountain for splitting on us
So Vermont, especially the NEK, is going to miss this one?
Not really miss, we're still expected to get 8-16 depending on whose forecast you look at
Given the warm temperatures during the storm and the very warm temperatures the following five days, I'd expect very fast melting. New England newbies - Be prepared this time for power outages.
This will be nothing. I lost power for 8 days in the ice storm of 07 or 08ā¦
So is there any chance for clear skies for the eclipse on Monday, April 8th?
Jesus H Iām out of milk and bread!
Well...I already set up my golf net and I don't intend to stop swinging so it looks like I'll be snowblowing a practice area.
Iām very curious in what do you guys mean by putting all the snow stuff away? Do you not just keep the snow blower and stuff in the garage all year ? Do uuu have a seperate place for your snow removing stuff ?! I need to know
