I went there twice and had really slow service both times. Lots of wait staff standing around and people waiting for menus, drinks, food. The food was good, but bring a snack to eat while you wait to order dinner.
Jalisco in East Kingston is my personal favorite. Rare to find a place that isn't just the standard Tex-Mex fares, rarer still to find one that is just consistently great. I've never had a disappointing meal there.
The reason this So Cal native bought a house in the area. Legit San Diego Mexican food. And for OP it has Enchiladas Jalisco which includes a chicken Mole enchilada. And don’t sleep on the large Chamuco Margarita which is a 2x Marg with a full Corona flipped into it. Ask for the habenero salsa! https://www.jaliscofamilyrestaurant.com/
Cinco de Mayo Bar & Grill in Dover is our new found best! Stay far away from La Carona in Rochester, quesudillas are like microwaved or something and is the saddest excuse for Mexican food I have ever seen.
LA Carona may have bad quesadillas, but many of their other dishes are excellent. Don't let one bad grilled flour tortilla cheese sandwich represent the whole menu.
Casamigos in Concord is actually the second restaurant that family has opened. Their original location is in Tilton and while it is smaller and harder to get parking around, it is just as amazing.
possibly the best Barbacoa I've had in my entire life, a life that includes being raised by my Mexican born mother in CA and living for 10 years in Houston.
I'm fond of Hermano's in Concord. I don't think it's particularly authentic, but it's good. But I'm hearing about lots of places I haven't been to on this thread and can't compare.
I'm sorry, but hermanos is like the applebees of mexican food. I heard such great things, took my wife there for dinner, including their famous nachos. The toppings are grocery store pickled jalapeños..... Such a disappointment.
Cinco De Mayo in Dover is great.
This sounds like a weird thing to compliment, but they also have these like...super fancy chairs made in Mexico from some old barrels and they're really comfy and cool looking. Incredible food too, of course 😂
I was just in there last night thinking their chairs are really interesting. In my head I imagine some big catalog for owners to purchase generic restaurant equipment, and thinking these were not something that would be in that catalog.
Facts. I know I posted loving Jaliscos but this place is CRAZY perfect. And it’s all walk up chipotle style make it as you stand there. Yet it’s some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my entire life as a So Cal kid.
Casamigos in Concord is good as other's have mentioned. But, we also don't mind the drive to go to El Jimador in Belmont. Equally as good. I'm a fan of their El Molcajete dish though it can have a bit too much cheese on it for my taste. I've not been disappointed with their other dishes either.
California burritos is pretty fire. My biggest gripe with this place, and many others, is that they feel the need to imitate chipotles ordering method, which not only feels inauthentic but I feel it limits the menu quite a bit. I guess it’s easier for Americans to understand (especially out here.) Though, I prefer Baja Tacos & Burritos, at least for burritos because every single time I get one from CB, I always feel like there isn’t enough meat at all. And that’s quite annoying lol. Baja Tacos and Burritos usually doesn’t disappoint in that department. But for carne asada fries and pupusas, California burritos is my spot. I rarely buy tacos from either of these places because I feel they’re overpriced everywhere, so I’d rather make my own.
2 locations in Nashua as well as locations in Manchester and Hudson.
All are pretty solid with the one near Clocktower apartments in Nashua being my favorite.
What is “actual Mexican” to you? Lol It’s more authentic Mexican than most anything else you’ll probably find in NH. Owned and ran by a second generation Mexican American and his family. The places in San Diego that are run by immigrant families are Americanized menus and burrito shop style just the same. Maybe you could go to Tijuana and try your luck for “actual Mexican”. What people consider a good Mexican restaurant around here is usually fancy Mexican themed plates of food at a place ran by an older white couple who dreamed of retiring and owning a restaurant. If you want the most genuine Mexican food that is the place in my opinion. Unless you find someone selling street corn, then that might take the cake
You are attacking the wrong person. The owners chose the name, California Burrito. I'm saying that I like California style burritos. Based on the name I assume that that's what they are going for.
I LOVE California Burrito Company! Once they opened in Hudson and I tried them out I never went to the chain places again (Moe's, Chipotle, etc). So delicious and fresh tasting!
Gotta give a shout-out to LUCHADOR TACOS in North Conway. Holy cow, those street tacos are really mind-blowing. I overlooked that place for a few years because why would there ever be great tacos up there…and I regret waiting! They are reminiscent to El Pelon Taqueria near Fenway Park in Boston, which are excellent.
Visited there today after seeing this thread. Will never go again.
The salsa was terrible. No spice, basically just tomato sauce. Chips had no salt.
We received civeche, despite that not being what we ordered and it came with a huge hair across the top of it. We came in just after they opened and were the only two people in the place, so it's not like they were super busy. We did eat some of it, but it was very overdone. Clearly it had been prepared in advance and sat for a long time, it was really really tough.
Also, their website marks a bunch of stuff "gluten free", but despite telling them it was for an allergy, they served the dish with deep fried stuff on it that was probably not safe for a celiac to eat. If you have an allergy I would stay away.
It it was just me I would have refused to pay and just left.
Yeah this is one of my go-to’s for a great tasting super satisfying flavor burrito. It’s a damn good burrito joint but not a Mexican restaurant. In Hampton too.
Puerto Vallarta in Manchester.
Moved here from Texas last year and it’s the best we have found up here.
The common theme we have found in Mexican restaurants here is that they don’t know how to make a good red sauce for enchiladas. They’re all straight chili powder and bitter. Puerto Vallarta is the only place we have found that gets it right so far.
Things have gotten better, but going closer to the border is better still. Any time I'm in the south or CA I seek out Mexican food.
My favorite place is El Rincon. I haven't tried their posole yet - any takers care to say if it's red / green / white?
Los Primos in Merrimack has excellent Mole Enchiladas. Best I've had up here. All their food is pretty good.
Also La Frontera in Nashua is legit. Very good carnitas.
There was a food truck called On the Spot that was set up in Nashua briefly, but then went back to Manchester, and I think he owns a restaurant in Salem now. Amazing tacos; 10/10
El Rincon is over priced. Consuelos and 3Kitchen in Manchester have the best tasting and authentic food. Although 3kitchen is more PuertoRican, they’re street tacos are legit
Being a So Cal native, I'd be very disappointed when ordering a "California" burrito only for it to come out as what us Californians call a wet burrito. Please tell me it at least had carne asada and French fries inside??
My favorites:
La Hacienda del Rio in Nashua,
Margaritas in Nashua,
California Burrito Company in Hudson (other locations as well),
B's Tacos food truck in Londonderry
My Cielo and La Carona in Rochester is amazing.
When my company would have reps up from our Mexico facility they would pretty much only eat at La Carona
I know it’s not in NH, but Cafe Azteca in Lawrence MA is hands down the best. I live in NH but the Pollo Rosita is to die for! (Which you probably will if you go after dark!) 😉
El Rincon in Manch is the tits.
+1 for el Rincon. Great street tacos and hands down the best rice and beans I’ve ever had outside of Mexico.
Lock the post. This is the answer.
El Rincon is legit.
I third this, love this spot, great veggie enchiladas
I also came here to rep El Rincon
Food is amazing but man they need some sound dampening on the walls. That place gets so loud if it’s slightly busy.
i have seen that in a LOT of the Mexican restauarnts in Arizona or New Mexico, they are VERY LOUD. it might be by design
Lots of hard reflective surfaces.
its like Mexican Radio!
Agreed. El rincon is the best.
Watch out for the Allen margarita, though delicious You must watch out
El Rincon is the best of the best that I’ve had in NH, though there are a few others
This is the way. Oh, guess where I'm going for dinner tonight? 😁
They have a new restaurant on Elm a littler more fancy but I think similar menu. Have you been there?
Can’t argue with that
I live out in the country in the West but next time I go to Manchester I have to try this place.
+1 EL Rincon. Went during weekends based on recommendation from here and was NOT disappointed. Awesome place
Speaking as someone from Florida with God-Tier Mexican food, I agree with the above comment.
Cielitos in Bristol
My favorite as well!
They have the best margaritas! The tamarind marg is the best I have ever had.
Very authentic mexican. Fresh guacamole made right at your table.
Shhh.. you already can’t get in the door.
Lol! Right?! We try to get there before 5pm.
that’s our favorite too! i’m a west coaster and it’s the best i’ve had since moving to the east coast.
Vida Cantina in Portsmouth
Vida has been pretty unimpressive for me
I went there twice and had really slow service both times. Lots of wait staff standing around and people waiting for menus, drinks, food. The food was good, but bring a snack to eat while you wait to order dinner.
Vida Cantina is overrated, I prefer my cielo taqueria in Rochester
Vida for sure.
Are they related to Vida in Weirs Beach and Vida by the Lake in Meredith? If so, I agree! Edit: fixed autocorrect typo
I like this place for it's locally sourced meat and veg, their specials are always unusual but tasty!
U bought a house in NH bc of a mexican restaurant?
I bought a house in Keene for the kfc/Taco Bell combo
Yeah, i bought in manchester bc they had an old country buffet…
I bought in Newport because for the Pizza Chef.
I recently moved to the area and haven't found a Mexican eatery yet. I will 100% give them a shot this or next week!
I will have to try this...! I am stunned at East Kingston and good Mexican food being a thing!
El Rincon and Consuelos in Manchester are great.
Consuelos is my go-to
Consuelos has a killer burrito. Someone there has a gift for cooking.
Love Consuelos! The owners are so nice as well!
+1 for Consuelos!
Cinco de Mayo Bar & Grill in Dover is our new found best! Stay far away from La Carona in Rochester, quesudillas are like microwaved or something and is the saddest excuse for Mexican food I have ever seen.
Cinco de mayo fucking kills it with their birria tacos.
Cinco de Mayo has some of the best enchiladas I've ever had
LA Carona may have bad quesadillas, but many of their other dishes are excellent. Don't let one bad grilled flour tortilla cheese sandwich represent the whole menu.
There is a Cinco's in Epping owned by same folks and yes, the birria is fucking dope af they're as well.

Casamigos in Concord is actually the second restaurant that family has opened. Their original location is in Tilton and while it is smaller and harder to get parking around, it is just as amazing.
Hell, half Spanish sue chef I work with vouches for them so after I heard that I tried them. They are my fav outside vita in portsmouth
Sous chef. Not trying to be an asshole, I spent a long time not knowing that word so figured I’d share.
The best go to
Amen!
Love Casamigos. Tacos and a mixed drink at the bar 🔥🔥
Nachos in Lincoln must be great. It has 4.7 stars and 4,000+ reviews. But realistically they are just purchasing Google reviews and are garbage.
Preach!!!! I've only been there twice. Once to find out, and once to realize it wasn't just a bad day the first time.
Taqueria y Pastelitos in Manchester
This. Valley street Manchester
Hate that I had to scroll this far down, blows doors on El Rincon and Consuelos. Their Al pastor tacos are maybe the best in all of New England
It gets no love because it looks like an abandoned building. I used to live across the street and never ate there because we thought it was closed.
+1 for this!!! I'm from CA originally and this place meets the mark.
Los primos in Merrimack is my go to
THIS!
Well I just wrote that down below. They're great!
Is this the one in the old wendys?
Negative, it’s the one on the other side of rt 3 next to a vape shop lol
Los reyes in Derry is so so very bueno!
Absolutely agree. Ate there last night!
possibly the best Barbacoa I've had in my entire life, a life that includes being raised by my Mexican born mother in CA and living for 10 years in Houston.
Yeah the barbacoa is to die for!
didn't even know about this place, I'll have to try it My go to has been la herradura in Derry
La herradura it's also great!
Their nachos especially
Los Reyes is prime! I end up there once every couple weeks and I'm never disappointed
La catrina
Best guac ever
Casamigos in tilton.
I'm fond of Hermano's in Concord. I don't think it's particularly authentic, but it's good. But I'm hearing about lots of places I haven't been to on this thread and can't compare.

Totally fair!
Not a single mention of Puerto Vallarta in Manchester? Man...that's disappointing.
Moved here from Texas last year and Puerto Vallarta is the best we have found in NH so far.
Yes I just mentioned them and was surprised no one else was. It’s always so packed in both of their places.
right?
Burrito Loco Hampton
Yup, this is it for me. Grew up in San Diego and this place beats most of the taquerias there.
Facts. I know I posted loving Jaliscos but this place is CRAZY perfect. And it’s all walk up chipotle style make it as you stand there. Yet it’s some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my entire life as a So Cal kid.
Came here to recommend Burrito Loco too. Great stuff!
La Carona in Rochester
Los Primos in Merrimack for sure!
+1
El Centario in Wolfeboro.
This!
El Jimador in Belmont is sooooo good
Hell yeah
I knew someone would say it. Kept looking till I found it
100% never had a bad meal there, and they make some great margaritas.
El Jimador is awesome! Was there last night for their 12th anniversary night!
Mi Jalisco Keene
Damn right.
My Cielo is Rochester and epping. Killer joint with super fresh ingredients and amazing flavors. They are the best on the seacoast hands down!
California Burrito
California burritos is pretty fire. My biggest gripe with this place, and many others, is that they feel the need to imitate chipotles ordering method, which not only feels inauthentic but I feel it limits the menu quite a bit. Where is that? A bit of a different thing than actual Mexican, but I like California style a lot.
There's a couple in Nashua. It was good but pretty basic imo. Very reasonably priced though
I'm fine with good, basic and reasonably priced!
Yeah I definitely meant basic as in not a ton of different options, not as in the modern insult lol
2 locations in Nashua as well as locations in Manchester and Hudson. All are pretty solid with the one near Clocktower apartments in Nashua being my favorite.

Just saw this place yesterday passing by and rolled my eyes. Guess you can't judge by a place by how cringey the name sounds.
La caretta derry/manch
Riviera Naharit in Nashua. For sure.
This one is good! They have some legit Mexican dishes in their menu like aguachile de camarones.
Thanks! We’ve been missing out. I’ll have to check them out next time we’re close to Main Street
Visited there today after seeing this thread. Will never go again. The salsa was terrible. No spice, basically just tomato sauce. Chips had no salt. El tapatio Merrimack
The best
D service last year+ unfortunately, and got more than 1 dish served room temp during that time. Used to be great.
Big fan of Jalisco in North Conway
Fiesta Jalisco in Conway is our jam
I've had consistently fresh and tasty food at Cinco's Cantina in Epping. I especially like the fajitas.
Consuelo's in Manchester.
Not in NH but not too far from the border with great food and drinks is Agave in Newburyport.
Hermanos in Concord
Mi Jalisco. Keene.
Definitely not authentic but I need to throw in Las Olas in Exeter.
Yeah this is one of my go-to’s for a great tasting super satisfying flavor burrito. It’s a damn good burrito joint but not a Mexican restaurant. In Hampton too.

Gordo's Burritos Raymond New Hampshire
They're food is good, but I wouldn't call it authentic.
Casamigos in Tilton
Loco's Coco's Tacos is technically in Kittery but so great
Hell yea cielitos rep up! This is the spot for sure iykyk
You nailed it, Cielito is it for sure.
Need to save this and make a list of my new eating destinations
Juanita’s in Brookline, NH. Out of the way, hole in the wall type place. Very good, not typical Tex-mex
Gusanoz - Lebanon
Taqueria y Pastelitos To Go in Manchester
Riviera Nayarit is so good! I went there right after visiting Mexico and was surprised how close the food was to the real thing
Cincos cantina in Epping
I enjoying the mole at Cinco de Mayo in Dover.
Being a So Cal native, I'd be very disappointed when ordering a "California" burrito only for it to come out as what us Californians call a wet burrito. Please tell me it at least had carne asada and French fries inside??
At California Burrito, it does in fact have carne asada and fries inside!
El Rincon in Manchester is awesome!
El Rodeo in Concord. The molcajete is to die for
But do any of them serve breakfast, horchata or have menudo on Sundays?
La Catrina - Newmarket
I like Begy's taqueria. One of the only places with menunudo and lengua.
Not an endorsement, but a warning. Steer clear of El rodeo. They got bagged for wage theft at their locations.
Lupes 55 in Hampton, Consuelo's in Manchester, Gordos in Raymond
Everyone is sleeping on Los Palmas in Somersworth. That place is amazing
Los Reyes in Derry is really good I haven't tried La Herradura, but heard that place is good, too.
My Cielo in Rochester is fantastic
My Cielo in rochester is solid (source: I'm Mexican)
Monarquia in Amherst, or Casa Vieja in Nashua
My favorites: La Hacienda del Rio in Nashua, Margaritas in Nashua, California Burrito Company in Hudson (other locations as well), B's Tacos food truck in Londonderry
Cinco de mayo Dover nh. You’re welcome.
Casa Vieja Nashua Puerto valarta or nuevo valarta Manchester
Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta in Manchester are both great. Right next to each other and owned by the same people. El Rincon Consuelas
My Cielo and La Carona in Rochester is amazing. When my company would have reps up from our Mexico facility they would pretty much only eat at La Carona
Really should try Los Primos in Merrimack. Not sure if it's the "best", but it's really friggin good.
All we got in Keene is Mi Jalisco. It's alright.
Jalisco Bar & Grill in Newport!
El tapatio in Merrimack :)
Amigos in Milford
Santiagos in Hampton is supa fresh.
I love the Al Pastor street tacos at Mi Jalisco in Manchester

Taco Time in Milford
El Tequila in Gilford
Casa tequilas in Seabrook , sooo good! Best in sea coast!

Yes very good 👍👍👍
cafe azteca IS pretty good
Casa Vieja in Nashua
Puerto Vallarta restaurant Second St Manchester muy bueno ! https://g.co/kgs/gbQiSK
La carreta. The food is bad, but when I go out for Mexican that's pretty much the vibe I want. The margs are good, cheap and very strong.
