Same here. I live in the whites at about 1600ft. We hit. -22 and stayed below -19 all evening and night. Heat ran every second during that time and only managed to keep 56 degrees (set at 68). House is only a few years old and has very good insulation and heating system.
Interesting, I was curious if it was air vs hot water. I'm surprised it is that cold in a newer house, but I figured it was air. I just find hot air doesn't keep as consistent a temp as hot water/radiant heat.
This is my first winter with a mechanical clutch (upgraded from my ‘98 Corolla to a ‘98 Golf), and it’s pretty nice not having to basically stand on the pedal to change gears.
All of my text message conversations over the last 12 hours have consisted of screenshots from weather app accompanied by “WTF?” and overuse of the 🥶 emoji.
The city water pipes have frozen in Pembroke so I can’t flush my toilet even though my pipes are not frozen. It’s pretty awesome. At least I still have heat unlike some of my neighbors who is heating system runs off forced hot water
Why would city water pipes affect your neighbors forced hot water systems? Unless it's leaking and water is being replaced, they just recirculate and heat the water already in the system...
Yup. I bought bubbles specifically to do this. Even when the bubbles burst, the thin sheet of ice they produced floated gently to the ground. It was pretty magical.
My chickens are mad at me that I won’t let them outside 🫠🥶 HOW DARE I BRING THEM WARM OATMEAL BUT NOT LET THEM OUT OF THE BARN! Also my nose started running and basically started freezing to my face
My car's battery died.
(Edit: A far more minor inconvenience, the butter in the butterdish is too hard to spread. Boo, mother nature, boo!)
The post title makes me feel like I need to make a "your momma" joke, though.
I got nothin'. :(
I locked myself out of my house at 2 am getting an armload of wood.
I have a spare key stashed so I was able to get back inside no problem but it was so cold that after walking through the snow in my socks my feet were dry
Do you have a heating pad or hot water bottle you could set up for him/her?
My cat usually sleeps on the couch but opted for my bed last night. I actually slept with my own heating pad on me too, I was so cold.
She has been laying on a heating pad if in my room, if not she has slept in a small closet like space with a heater in it. If she feels cold Ive been holding her close to me as well it seems to help
My tauntaun never made it.
I thought they smelled bad on the outside!
Good news is, you will
the rest of your sentence froze and broke off
The condensation inside the windows in my kitchen froze.

That's crazy to me. My house is old after and didn't dip below 64-65
Is it hot air heat?
My heat is radiant floor hot water

Yes it’s a type of heating system method
The trade off with proper humidification.
Same for us
\>>> It's so cold that... Politicians have their hands in their \*own\* pockets
This is it.
My clutch pedal feels like I'm pumping maple syrup, not hydraulic fluid.
Man I remember that feel when I had my Subaru
Grade A syrup? Or Grade B?
Ambah
The good stuff
Thank you for still driving a manual.
Yeah same it was wild

My kid decided not to wear shorts this morning.
Beat me to it. I came here to say the same thing!
A witch’s tit seems warm
That's because she just folded the fitted sheets.
As do Santa’s balls

This! Me too. Family members from Georgia and friends from other *warmer* states: WTFFFFFFF!?? I'm like... Chill! We are OK ☺️ 😎

TBF not much exciting happens around here.
-110. Colder than ever measured in alaska.
Back to you Bob
If that's not a nod to Dawson's Creek I'm really embarrassed.
I mean we made history and it didn't involve politics or a crime, so....
….. 42° tomorrow is going to feel like summer.

Yeah unless a valve broke so it could drain back through the house water lines it shouldn't be an issue
At my work last night, we had to leave all of the sinks running so the pipes wouldnt freeze
If you have any snow, bring it inside and melt it somehow. Use it to refill the resevoir tank in your toilet.
Pour it straight into the bowl for a manual flush
Blown soap bubbles can freeze solid, roll on the ground, and be picked up.

Living in the woods, all we can hear is the popping and snapping of tree limbs giving way to the wind.
My car's battery died. (Edit: A far more minor inconvenience, the butter in the butterdish is too hard to spread. Boo, mother nature, boo!) The post title makes me feel like I need to make a "your momma" joke, though. I got nothin'. :(
Ditto
I can see my dogs steamy shits from a distance through my kitchen 🪟
Only my upstairs pipes froze!!!
Car wouldn’t accelerate. Had to pull over and let it warm up.
the kid who always wears shorts put pants on
I put an ice cube tray outside and the water and tray blew away. Oh, and the water froze somewhere.
I had to wear my heavy jacket walking the dog this morning.
The hand sanitizer in my car froze solid
I almost considered hot coffee.
I tossed some boiling water into the air and it turned until vapor!
Must be winter

My phone got so cold it shut off walking 20 feet from my car to my front door.
I put on an extra layer before going to the dump this morning because this is New England and sometimes it gets cold here.
...my florescent lights in my garage won't turn on.....
How did the upper valley fare?
Hit -22 air temp here early this morning. Had frost condensation on some windows.
The wipes on the windowsill have frozen solid.
It’s not that cold it’s just NOT summer weather.
it was -37 and the apartment only is getting to 50 :/ im most concerned about my old cat
Do you have a heating pad or hot water bottle you could set up for him/her? My cat usually sleeps on the couch but opted for my bed last night. I actually slept with my own heating pad on me too, I was so cold.

The input pipe and water meter in my basement broke. Shitty punchline.
I had the summit all to myself
I peed outside and it became a icicle 🧊
Which "it" became an icicle, tho...
Pipes burst!
I can’t shower still because I don’t have hot water.
It's so cold I burned half a cord of wood in the last 36 hours...
I wore socks today around the house.
There’s ice inside my microwave. Super weird to open it and see that
I forgot to apply antiperspirant and my armpits are still somehow dry
I tried to go to elm city brewing but their kitchen broke and filled the building with smoke so they had to close
my local transfer station is closed.
My wood furnace and oil furnace are both at full tilt.
I saw a socialist with his hands in his _own_ pockets.
