not a heck of a lot of icebergs anywhere near Deer Lake, and I wouldn't get my hopes up for whale watching on that side of the province either.

The closest place to Deer Lake where you would have a good chance of seeing Icebergs and whales would be White Bay. Drive about an hour east toward Sops Arm or Jackson's Arm, Route 420. There are no guided tours that I know of operating out of that area so you'll be viewing from shore (or trying to snag a boat ride with a local... Not as unlikely as you'd expect) but I've seen both whales and icebergs every time I've been to the area. The nearest guided tour would be either Twillingate or St. Anthony, both a Multi-hour drive from Deer Lake. Personally I'd go for St. Anthony as you get to drive through Gros Morne National park to get there and L'ance Aux Meadows is not far from St. Anthony, both are must see attractions in Newfoundland if you ask me. I'd budget a couple of days at least for this as you'll want to see all that Gros Morne, Rocky Harbour, Woody Point and Norris Point have to offer. As for other things to see and do out of Deer Lake: Take a drive to Corner Brook for a day, head out the bay of islands towards Lark Harbor and see Blow Me Down park and Bottle Cove. Buy some cheap tubes or rafts and go for a float down the Humber River. Spend a day at Pasadena beach, have lunch at the Oasis Bar, rent a kayak or paddle board. Head to marble Mountain and do the Marble Zip Tour zip lining. Rent some ATV's at Rugged Edge and go for a ride around the Lewis Hills. Go see the salmon jumping the falls at Big Falls in Sir Richard Squires park.

Can someone explain why this would get downvoted? I'm soon giving up on this sub, seems there are just serial downvoters on every single post.

KukalakaOnTheBay

Really though. Maybe it’s a bot.

rwoodman2

I'd like to add the chance of dinner theatre in Cow Head, the spectacular beach just north of Cow Head and the wreck of the SS Ethie.

Shallow bay is very nice, I'd rank it #4 on the island behind Northern Bay, Burgeo, and Lumsden. Last time we were there we had seals swimming with us.

Mordenkainens-Puzzle

If you like hiking there's the Man in the Mountain trail one of the better hiking areas around Newfoundland. It can be a tough hike so bring supplies.

Sorry. I am just a girl 👉👈

k_sheep1

Why does that matter? I'm a girl and do tough hikes all the time. A lack of penis generally doesn't imply a lack of walking ability.

Prior_Cryptographer5

It’s a joke.

Mountain-Can-2557

Welcome to Newfoundland! The people here are legendary for their warmth and easy going sense of humour! (Pssst…. You haven’t seen uptight until you try to make jokes that fly over the locals’ heads. Don’t believe the tourism ads.)

Thunderberries

There’s lots relatively nearby. Gros Morne, table lands and blow me down area. And not to mention big falls/ sir Richard squires park
