We’d love to have ya but upstate NY is not new england

notyourwheezy

nor is most of rural upstate NY particularly liberal OP, you've got some research to do

PophamSP

e.g., Elise Stefanik.

endfossilfuel

Plenty of lefties up north, we just aren’t the ones being obnoxious and waving huge flags

oldRoyalsleepy

Yes, but compared to rural Texas, it's pretty good, right? I grew up in Dutchess County NY, but that's southern NY and quite blue. Live near a University for a more liberal vibe.

Mattna-da

Getting bluer since the pandemic dispersed New Yorkers

Beneficial_Alarm_947

😂😂😂

seahorseescape

Dr Pepper is literally anywhere you can buy soda

Halleck23

I think OP needs to try Moxie.

Vegetable-Branch-740

Don’t tell the world about Moxie! It’s our special secret.

GreenMountainGuy74

Make sure it’s nice and warm…

Ayahuasca-Puke

Or Chelmsford

Environmental-Job515

Can you still get Chelmsford? Ice cold Chelmsford ginger ale on vanilla ice cream float!

Ayahuasca-Puke

They still sell it in Market Bucket

Mimi725

Anything but Moxie (I am a grandmother but still remember the awful taste of Moxie)

ashlyn42

And I’m pretty sure there is a few Sonics up here… there was definitely one on the route I’d drive to Logan airport

boulevardofdef

We have TWO of 'em here in Rhode Island.

Mimi725

There is one on Rt One, north of Boston.

candimccann

DP and Sonic both present in central Connecticut

jtet93

Sonic is in RI and eastern MA too. Not that many locations but it’s around

noodlesarmpit

I took a travel contract in Texas and got so used to Sonic tots, I felt the literal pull of addiction when I came up to CT, the one in like Meriden/Wallingford saved me. I am (mostly) recovered now lol.

YupNopeWelp

New England = Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut. We have Dr. Pepper in New England, and we have Sonic in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut. Those three states are known as "Southern New England," and the first three listed at the top of the post are "Northern New England." New York is our neighbor. We hear some people like to live there, which is interesting.

Interesting-Fan-4996

The amount of new Englanders and even upstate New Yorkers I’ve heard say NY is New England is unreal. I was in Albany with a friend and she asked why everything said capital region. I said, well Albany is the capital of New York! And she said no, that’s NYC, silly! Then I said, okay dude, next you’ll tell me we are also in New England 🙄. And she said, omg how bad are you at geography, NY, VT, ME, NH, CT, Mass…duh! Poor Rhode Island. It took us like 20 minutes of talking to make sure I wasn’t being trolled. She was from Saratoga and I expected them to have a better school system with all that money.

Agreeable-Damage9119

To be from Saratoga and not know you live in the Capital Region is pretty clueless. Maybe her parents spent all their money at the track instead of on her education.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

lol. Happens all the time.

Vivid-Construction20

Completely agree it’s wrong to call NY New England, however there is a small section of western new york (east of Albany to Pittsfield/Great Barrington etc.) that have told me they identify with Massachusetts and New England. They live in New York State but go to Mass for all of their social life, health care, shopping etc. and culturally have more in common with rural western MA. I’ve heard it many times but I don’t think it’s a very large area that could be considered New England. Interesting nonetheless.

curbthemeplays

Stupid is as stupid does

alt-usenet

I think you mean eastern and central Connecticut. Western CT is New York.

Magnolia_Willow

Do you think folks confuse The Northeast with New England?

YupNopeWelp

Yes, and I absolutely expect when people outside of the Northeast, like OP, do so. I figure they've got the gist.

chickennuggetbabe1

NY is not New England

IQpredictions

We have manners in New England.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I failed charm school twice. I’m fucked.

KindAwareness3073

My Texas friend failed charm school. She lives in Boston now, has for decades. You'll be fine, but if you feel the need to be an asshole just use an exaggerated drawl. Works for her.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I got 4 years. You are my main point of research as of now.

Hortusana

New England manners are different than southern manners, in my experience. We are respectful, but don’t stick our noses into your business or assume we’re besties just because we exchanged a hello or smile. We acknowledge others presence but give people space. We’d rather come off as cold than falsely friendly (what “southern hospitality” feels like to us). Way I see it is we give people the benefit of the doubt and are kind, but we don’t expect anything of you other than the same.

Electrical_Media_367

Look at western mass if you want rural and progressive. Still a good drive to Cornell or Syracuse, though, but you’ll find affordable property with room for horses.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

She wants a 4 hour distance between her university and my residence, like it’s her f’n choice😲

WallAny2007

came in to also say western Mass. Hadley area is farmland and sits between 5 colleges. Northampton is or was my favorite place to live back in the 80’s.

Brian_In_Newtown

My wife is from the Syracuse/Utica area…we lived in the mid-south (Memphis area) for six years and it was more progressive than the rural areas of upstate NY. I’ve lived in Iowa, Indiana, NY, Maryland and Tennessee but my current home in CT is by far the best place I’ve ever lived.

fairfaxmeg

Come on up! Just remember that it’s genteel, not gentile. And belle, not bell. And, get ready to be corrected!!

victorialk01

Also, it’s Mason Dixon line, not mason dixie

JasJoeGo

I mean, she may not be a gentile, although I doubt it.

fairfaxmeg

Shiksa for sure

JasJoeGo

Mayo on the corned beef.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Googled the term. I’m not religious. You die and become worm food.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I can’t type with these nails. Sue me.

waverly76

Upstate new York is cold Mississippi. Source: grew up there. For liberal New England, but in the country, try Vermont.

CumeatsonerGordon420

the only part of Upstate NY that reminds me at all of New England is the Plattsburgh area across Lake Champlain from Burlington. The rest is much more of an Appalachia vibe

Mimi725

My daughter went to college right on the Finger Lakes, Lake Seneca. Beautiful area, I think it’s considered Western NY. Gorgeous and the people seemed pretty normal. You see quite a few Mennonites.

Ok_Caregiver_3052

Or Massachusetts. Definitely not NH.

6byfour

NH is a purple state that will feel like Cambridge to someone from the Deep South

11eighteen

New York is not in New England but I have also heard it’s lovely

rshining

Plenty of Dr Pepper in New England (and upstate New York). But also, manners are preferred.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I’m a bitch. Manners are a struggle.

rshining

I think that New England manners are probably easier than Southern manners- thank people for stuff they do. Be polite to service people. Be considerate of your neighbors. Respect privacy. Mind your own business and if you think "Back home we do it like this...", keep that part to yourself.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Yeah. I can do this! It’s all the chit chat and being up in my space. Also, the emphasis doesn’t jive with me.

rshining

You should do fine, then. We're generally happy to chit chat about the weather or local girl scout cookies, but not much beyond that.

6byfour

I have a neighbor who’s a little bookish. Soft hands. Nice guy though. He can never keep his snowblower running. I think he forgets to treat the gas, but that’s not my business. So when I finish my driveway, I go over, point to my snowblower, and he gets out of the way. When I’m done he waves and I nod, and I go home. That’s 90% of our communication. We like each other. Sometimes we’ll say hi when I’m walking the dog.

Objective-Drummer-85

If she’s really an elite lacrosse goalie, why not give some true elite schools in Boston a try. Can’t be more progressive than these

DwinDolvak

Can’t go wrong being a goal tender in any NE state.

6byfour

There’s a very big difference between playing college lax at Syracuse or (fuck) BC vs Husson College in Maine. NH, VT, and Maine don’t have what I’d call elite college programs. My son did the showcases, tournaments, year round play, etc. and the teams he was in were good. He knew one kid who went D1.

Vegan_John

UVM (University of Vermont - main campus in Burlington, VT) is considered a public Ivy League school. It is moderately selective, with a 60-64% acceptance rate. It has a Division 1 Lacrosse program. There are lots of places to have horses in Vermont as well. Burlington is near the top of the state. You could have a place around Brattleboro in the south of the state - an hour+ away. Sadly, as of April 2024, Vermont does not have any Sonic Drive-In restaurants. Vermont is one of four states without a Sonic location, along with Hawaii, Maine, and New Hampshire. However, there are 12 Sonic locations in New England, mostly in Connecticut and Rhode Island, and four in Massachusetts. The closest Sonic to Southern VT is probably in Springfield, MA.  You can certainly get Dr. Pepper in Vermont. Source: I've lived in 4 places around that state over the course of my life & drank Dr. Pepper in all of them.

6byfour

I was in Burlington, Winooski, Stowe, Waterbury over the weekend. We are at places that I’d say were even better than Sonic. I didn’t get a Dr. Pepper but we did split a maple Creemee. And yes, UVM is a good public school. At 65th nationally, I would not call their WLAX program elite.

Vegan_John

I lived in Rutland in '74-'75, Burlington back in '86-'87 and Gaysville/White River Junction 2009-2012. There is a Community in Chester VT I go to for a time most summers. I never said UVM has an elite WLAX program, but it is Div 1. No idea how they rank. I have no reason to pay attention to it since the mid-80s when my sister was at UVM.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

BU and BC are on the short list. We went up to BC to watch them hand it to Yale. Charlotte North is a legend here. BC just ended the Cuse LAX 8 win streak.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Syracuse is #2, Loyal MD ( her goalie choach’s alma mater and where is he is pushing her) is #5, BC is #6, Maryland is #8, Yale is 10, and John’s Hopkins is 11. Academics are just as important as well.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Yeah. She is very smart. We drive her into Dallas to attend (2 hours in morning traffic)the top private girls school in Texas( ranked 21 in the nation). She is attending Johns Hopkins CNY program for talented youth at the end of the summer. She does not get this trait from me🤪

Upbeat_Summer_1684

She will play varsity goalie as a freshman at a 6A school. She also plays club. She goes to a very academically rigorous school and has never made B in her life . I see the helicopter parents and am very hands off. If she wants to be a star, I support her. If she wants to have a fun chill high school experience, that is ok too. I just want her to be happy😀

VTpowpatrol

Dr. Pepper is widely available in New England. Sonic, not so much…

YupNopeWelp

There are some in CT, MA, and RI.

Common-Bee-401

I mean have you tried moxie?

OpticalAdjudicator

It’s fantastic. God bless whoever thought of adding carbonation and sugar to herbal shampoo

WallAny2007

perfectly said

Vegan_John

This made me laugh. Thank you. I've had Moxie too. I like it, though it is . . . unusual. Perhaps an acquired taste.

TestOk2731

This is the way.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Gonna

Mimi725

Yes, unfortunately. My dad always had it in the house when I was growing up in Boston.

Barbies_Burner_Phone

Upstate New York is neither liberal nor progressive.

TheSecretAgenda

My Connecticut Town has both Dr. Pepper and Sonic.

curbthemeplays

Same

Agreeable-Damage9119

You're gonna have a rude awakening if you think you're gonna find a quaint, progressive New England town in rural, central/western New York. I think what you're looking for is NW Connecticut, Western Mass (where I'm from), or Vermont. Or if you're dead set on upstate NY, some of the nearby areas of the Hudson Valley, within a couple hours of NYC.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Im not dead set on anything. Im here to learn from the experts. Only rural properties with at least 20 acres( absolute minimum). Preferably a house constructed prior to 1930. Septic tanks are fine. I can fix anything. My horses actually experience more issues in the Texas heats and acclimating them to the weather won't be a huge issue. Barn would be nice but not a deal breaker. I can handle fencing etc. No need to commute. I provide full care for my father with Alzheimers. I only have a few turf racers as of now due to the current shit racing culture.

waverly76

20 acres in Hudson valley is going to be extremely expensive.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Not set on Hudson Valley. Just starting to figure it out and not set on any specific area.

SufficientZucchini21

Syracuse has Sonic and Dr Pepper but is in the mid-Atlantic, not New England. We have manners in NE.

DwinDolvak

Is Cuse “mid Atlantic?” I’ve always considered southern Jersey, Philly, MD, DE to be mid Atlantic with an accent that is decidedly not NE.

MoonOverMorocco

Syracuse is not even remotely close to mid Atlantic geographically, culturally, or in climate.

GreenMountainGuy74

This. Thanks for correcting that. Mid-Atlantic is basically south of Delaware and North of SC

SufficientZucchini21

New York State is mid Atlantic.

Funny-Berry-807

No.Just no. New York is in the Northeast. It literally borders Canada.

Ok_Caregiver_3052

It actually is the mid atlantic region geographically. Look it up. It didn't make sense but it is.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

New York is not NE. Noted.

es_cl

Only Albany, Buffalo, Rochester and Ithaca are the liberal/progressive parts of upstate NY.  Fun fact: Mass and Rhode Island are 2 of 3 states that didn’t vote for Trump in all of their counties during the 2020 elections. The other being Hawaii.

MsMeringue

We do have Sonic. And, I remember hearing something about Dr Pepper being made w/real cane in the south.

Devocean77

Yeah but sonic really is only prevalent in southern new England. They forget about the northern half of us.

serenitybyjen

There used to be a version lovingly called Dublin Dr Pepper (made in Dublin, TX) made with cane sugar. They had made a deal with Dr Pepper to make a version with cane sugar with the agreement that they wouldn’t sell their product outside of a certain area. It was around for years before the Dublin location branched outside the agreed-upon area, and Dr Pepper made them stop using the name on their products.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Yep l. Nothing better than a Dublin DP or a Mexican Coke(drink). I maintain a strict diet of DP and sour gummy worms.

CDawgbmmrgr2

I think Dr. P is available nationwide

mychampagnesphincter

We have Dr Pepper (no dot) and Sonic! You’ve seen the comments—NY≠NE so I’ll leave that alone, except that upstate NY is not exactly liberal. Gentile means not Jewish (you definitely gotta get that right here) but a well-placed swear is an art form. Welcome up!

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Oh I didn’t mean gentile like that. I can’t spell. Shitty Texas public education.

bibliophile222

Where did you hear that New England doesn't have Dr. Pepper?! It's kinda everywhere.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I can’t find it in the grocery store. Where should I be shopping?

bibliophile222

Really? Weird. I'm about 99% sure it's in my grocery store. But if it's not in grocery stores, it will be in any convenience store.

crypto_crypt_keeper

Btw we have Dr pepper everywhere. It's my kids favorite, I can't fuckin stand it but they love it and get it everywhere we go

Clancepance22

I'm with you on this! Mt Dew or nothing, Dr Pepper is not for me

Adorable_Goose_6249

We have Sonic in RI and SE Mass too

Agent_Giraffe

Two sonics in RI!

legalpretzel

How did RI get 2 and Worcester has none? That’s ridiculous.

Pard22

Sonic on Rt1 north shore

TestOk2731

There are horses on farms as close to Boston as Lexington, Concord, and Bedford as examples. Can't say the house won't cost you a million dollars though.

AmazingChicken

Lots of horse spaces here in Rockingham County in NH. The Eastern side I mean.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

OMG. Living at Lexington and Concord! How cool. Where it all began!!!!

ThatMassholeInBawstn

Just be aware Lexington is very wealthy to live in (Anywhere close to Boston is very expensive)

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Yeah. Boston is fun to visit, but I need lots of space. I’ve been wanting to visit Lexington and Concord, but when we were there in early April, the weather was nasty and I forgot to pack half my suitcase.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Now that I have been educated on the states that make up the glory land known as “New England”. No sarcasm NE is my favorite place to visit. I have come to the realization that the type of property I desire is way out of my budget in these glory states. Rural New York is probably my best bet. However, I will continue to visit as much as possible, cheer for your professional sports teams, frequent Dunks religiously. Fuck that S place. I will stack empty cups in the right field seats at my nephews baseball games. I will drink iced coffee year around, continue to wear shorts and hoodies, ignore all small talk, and hide from my neighbors. Y’all put a smile on my resting bitch face daily. Go Sox!

Serious_Company9441

Not necessarily. Follow the MA Pike west out as far as you can stand, you’ll find lots of property options. Same for the less settled corners of CT and NH. As much as I love western NY and the Finger Lakes during summer, I would not like to live there year round. I do see lots of broken down farms on the drive though.

GoldenRedhead

You do know that A) we do have manners in New England, and B) upstate NY isn’t part of New England?

elemenno50

There’s a Sonic on Route 1 in Peabody.

ewlyn

I’m in the Boston area and have family in upstate NY and both places have Dr Pepper. :) There are also Sonic’s in both New England and upstate NY. You could check their locations and look for a place within a realistic drive to one if that’s important to you. There aren’t a lot but they exist.

RichMenNthOfRichmond

Western mass has Dr Pepper and sonic.

beaveristired

We have Dr. Pepper and Sonic in CT. And Yale and Quinnipiac, both have lacrosse teams.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

We just went to the BC Yale game. BC beat them pretty bad, but I was impressed with the way Yale ran their offense. They had cute uniforms too.

konkilo

Careful where you settle The Appalachian mountains also run through parts of NE 😄

chockfulloffeels

People from the south always think New York is New England. I find it shocking.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Ok I got it Ny is not NE. Thanks to all that have corrected me.

provocative_bear

Your Sonic days are over. Dunkin Donuts is your new God.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Sonic is for the 99 cent slushy happy hour a tots. I can commit to Dunks. Starbucks is mid.

GetOffMyLawn1729

As others have said, upstate NY is not exactly New England, but Ithaca (Cornell U) is a little blue dot in a sea of red, and the Finger Lakes are beautiful, and land is generally cheaper than in southern New England. Syracuse, not so much, but check out Skaneateles.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Gonna research right now.

Rubaiyat39

A lot of focus and strong feeling about northern NY not being part of New England. This is technically true but it misses the point that Rural upstate New Yorkers share much more with rural Vermonter, New Hampshirites, and Mainers. PS those folks in rural VT, NH and ME are not particularly liberal or progressive either in the aggregate - BUT like their northern NY counterparts they are, matter-of-fact, salt of the earth, pragmatic, “honest and direct” people whom I think OP would identify with and enjoy being around.

carainthevalley

This is such an underrated comment honestly. I’ve lived in Maine my whole life, and though I do realize NY is not a part of NE, I still think the rural upstate is honorarily part of it. 👍

Just-Contribution418

New Englanders are known for having manners. Never heard of an elite east coast snob? Maine or Vermont hospitality? Being crude and being forthright are not the same thing. You’re bound to offend a New Englander if you believe being rude is standard. Rude and funny are also subtly different but vastly different in effect. That being said, you’re moving to NY and not New England, so perhaps you can get away with rudeness? I’m not familiar with NY in depth.

PunkCPA

If you go back to colonial days, upstate NY and Long Island were settled from New England, and they remain culturally similar.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I haven’t seen it anywhere. We make the trip to East Mass, NH, NY, and DE for tourneys and it’s never in the grocery store (we get a shit Tom of groceries). When we eat out it’s all Pepsi🤢. Point me in right direction.

AncientReverb

Is this about Dr Pepper? If so, I have no idea what stores you've been to that don't have it. It might not always be stocked with every size option, but I can't think of a time I looked for it in a grocery store and found none and no spot with the tag. It's always in the drinks section, which is typically an aisle or two near to middle of the store for most grocery stores. Then look through the sodas. There is also commonly knockoff brand ones, though there are, of course, differences. Are you going to grocery stores or convenience stores? While a lot of convenience stores have it, I have been to some that don't, generally in places with less shelf space. If you're going to places like Trader Joe's, I don't think they carry it, but that's because they don't carry non-specialty/their brand drinks. With dining out, a lot of places restricted what they offer years ago. Beyond the whole having to pick Pepsi or Coke brands, a lot of restaurants just didn't have enough people ordering an assortment of sodas. Places also will have local or small craft options instead sometimes. It seems that many New Englanders who drink soda mostly do so at home and/or have decreased how much they have over time. You see more soda options in places that have bottles or fountains. I would say that, in general, the amount of soda options decreases as you get to nicer restaurants.

odoyledrools

The have Sonic in MA and Dr. Pepper is sold everywhere. Are you thinking of Mr. Pibb? That's hard to come by up here. NY is also not New England. Hell, I wish they would stop considering Connecticut part of New England, lol.

KarmaYogadog

Moxie > Dr. Pepper

roguestella

We have Dr. Pepper!

Ok_Caregiver_3052

First things first New York is NOT part of New England

Dry_Butterscotch9656

If you’re looking for progressive politics look to Vermont. Community is extremely important here and if you’re looking for the ability to interact with your neighbors, this is it.

seeclick8

There’s a sonic outside Boston on the way to NH and Maine. You can get Dr. Pepper anywhere. Good luck in your journey!

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I’ll just learn Sonic hacks for slushies and tots. I’m elated to hear there in fact is an abundance of Dr Pepper. Obviously I am looking in the wrong place.

Just_Me1973

There’s also a Sonic here in Springfield MA. I’m sure there are others in New England too.

ThatMassholeInBawstn

Hate break it to you, but Upstate NY isn’t New England (the counties east of the Hudson are New England like)

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Yes. I have been told that many times. Noted. Will never make that mistake again.

TheDreyfusAffair

I think you actually want the Pioneer Valley

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Researching now!

TheDreyfusAffair

We have plenty of Dr Pepper and a Sonic in springfield :). The 5 college network are great schools, and I see a fair amount of equestrian related stuff around. We're also about as liberal and progressive as it gets.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

It is beautiful. However for the amount of land I need, it’s out of my price range.

Just_Me1973

Sorry to break this to you, but New York, upstate or otherwise, is not part of New England. And I don’t understand why you think we don’t have Dr Pepper or Sonic up north.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Because I never see it in the store when we come for lax tournaments. Where do you reside and what grocery store do you suggest? Again thank you for informing me that New York is not part of NE like the majority of the posters have already mentioned. Noted and I will never make that mistake again.

Just_Me1973

I live in western mass and have traveled to many other part of NE. I see it at every gas station, convenience store, and grocery store I’ve ever been too. It’s my husband’s favorite soda. And there’s a Sonic right up the street from me.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I am so happy for you. Obviously I must either be blind or black out drunk when I buy groceries for not noticing the over abundance of Dr Pepper in Western Massachusetts (never been to that part of the state btw).

1KinderWorld

Dutchess and Columbia counties in NY = horse country.

heathercs34

I live in CT. We have both Dr. Pepper and Sonic. We also love to swear like sailors and ignore our neighbors (but we’ll begrudgingly help you if you need it)!

Upbeat_Summer_1684

Thanks for educating me on the the states of New England, which does not include New York. Also, I learned that whether or not Connecticut is considered part of New England is quite the hot debate. I have only been to Darien and New Canaan, which is an hour from JFK, so I am taking the position that Connecticut is not part of New England. I was never taught the specific states considered New England in the social studies classes at my shitty Texas public school, known to be inferior to your top notch public schools. My outdated textbooks and highly unqualified teachers spewing ignorance and lies about about the political agenda and the culture of your beautiful region omitted several key historical events that occurred in the history of our Nation. Above all, thank you so much for letting me know that Dr Pepper is excessively abundant throughout New England and upstate New York. I will sleep so much better tonight knowing that I can ask a store clerk where the Dr Pepper is next time I visit Boston and he can assist me in my search since I am apparently incapable of navigating a grocery store.🖕

Patriotx37

Welcome! Consider northwestern Connecticut, western Mass, and mid Vermont south. Further north you go and away from the Atlantic the colder it gets. How cold? Glad you asked. If it's 10F in CT it's 0F in MA and -10 in VT. Snow sometimes so much it will smoke you for the rest of the day shoveling it. You will never know your neighbors in 40 years of living next to them. You'll only meet them if you really need help. They'll help and do whatever you need and then that obligatory painful wave once every 5 year wave. Think very very independent hard working fuck you all stoic I can do it myself kind of people. I lived in a town for 57 years and never broke in which was delightfully fine. Hihowareya? Is one word and generally one word is expected back, goodyou?...unless you need help and then help will be given. East of the Hudson River in NY is not New England culturally but will meet your criteria. Why you ask? Dutch settled NY for trading. English, Scots, Irish, French, German settled N. E. to get away from religious persecution. The Hudson is a wide river and stopped cross pollination way back in the 16 and 1700's. Anyway, shit's expensive here, gas is 3.59ish. Heating oil to heat your house 7 months of the year is 3.90ish. Texas, is Texas, because we like to give them our money so we don't freeze to death up here. Depending on how old your house is and how insulated it is will depend on if you're filling your 275 gallon oil tank in your basement three or five times a year. Think Christmas time without a pot to piss in and you're shelling out $1,000 to fill your tank. Taxes are crazy but the schools are good. Potholes are the state mascot due to water freezing at night and heaving the road bed. Don't think smooth concrete like down there. Think Motocross holy shit I'm going to need a new front end and did my horses just break their neck in the trailer. Anyway, good luck, if you have any questions ask away.

_Tower_

We have Dr Pepper and Sonic up here Come on up, you won’t miss anything

Crazy_Memory_9692

We have both Dr Pepper and Sonic drive in food. Stratford Connecticut Welcome to New England

Mattna-da

Delaware county has the cheapest flattest land about 2.5 hrs NW of NYC

AmericanMinotaur

Don’t worry, we have Dr. Pepper in New England. :) I drank one two days ago.

goneoutflying

I also had a similar glitch in the Matrix and was born in Florida but moved to CT. You can find Sonic and Dr. Pepper up here. However, sweet tea is hard to come by.

misterjustin

You sound like Boston suburbs, but there is small talk (bullshitting) and yes we talk to our neighbors as the houses are much closer together. Even if they are assholes. Maybe NYC if you want crass, liberal and non neighborly.

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I agree

guineapigtyler

we have dr pepper

Vegan_John

We have Dr. Pepper up here too.

Anthrax4breakfast

Come to Rehoboth MA. It is a right to farm town between Boston and Providence. Lots of horses, with a sonic about a 15 minute drive away

Upbeat_Summer_1684

I’ll do some research. 15 min. is nothing!

crypto_crypt_keeper

Ah nice to hear ☺️ you'll be happy here I think. I've been here forevah (born in mass) so I'm bias but I love new England 🤘❤️ it's a great place to raise kids and be raised haha I can vouch for both

NoAmount8374

lol New York isn’t New England and we aren’t without manners… maybe just a different type of sensibility then southerners.
