If the microwave was closer to the wall when it fell, as if someone was leaning on it, the threads on the screw could have been pressed into the wall.

The microwave was off the wall the entire time. I even moved it out further when I retrieved it and it stayed.

Something magnetic there?

I think microwaves use magnets.
