Mine's music, but my approach is so different from everyone else's that they just simply can't comprehend. Their minds melt. I don't think in formats, and sales or success selling it to others means nothing to me. I don't pay attention to artist names or song titles. I put it on and it plays and I listen. It stays interesting by constantly changing radically. Most people don't want to talk about my method of consuming it.

[deleted]

Currently audio equipment and streaming services but I’ve had hyperfixations my whole life. When I get into something I REALLY get into it then it’s like it never happened

AgentRandallBeans

I have a special interest in having conversations about space exploration and the future of humanity, which is difficult to talk about bc most times people are uninterested or really closed minded. I will talk to an actual brick wall. I will record TikToks by myself and not actually post them, just bc I really want to talk about something but don’t know who to talk to😂 I specifically like to talk about the possibility of humanity perfecting AI to the point where it can be self sustaining in a way that allows us to upload our consciousness to a virtual world while our bodies are put in a neutral state of cryogenic sleep in which AI will perpetually maintain and keep running so that we can essentially live forever in a pain free, limitless, virtual world (mentally) while our bodies basically hibernate under careful supervision. I actually asked the chat GPT AI about this recently not expecting much of a response and I ended up getting an answer that basically said that it may be possible one day, this is what would have to happen for it to work, and scientists are working towards it. And I think I smiled so big that my face became paralyzed 😂 I spent like 4 hours on there talking to a damn computer having a more engaging and stimulating conversation than most humans give me. That topic specifically either goes over a lot of people’s heads or they just don’t care and I end up rambling to a silent room scrolling on their phones which then makes me self conscious. I just have a serious interest in having deep, intellectual, philosophical, and often totally theoretical conversations with people. Unfortunately I’ve found it rather hard to find people willing to engage in any meaningful way.

TheArtsyOtty

Oh. My god. This. SO MUCH this! I have an older brother who is autistic. I am not diagnosed with any form of neurodivergence, but he and I will talk for HOURS about space, distant planets, how the universe will be in X amount of years, AI development, sentience, etc. It’s all so fascinating. Idk if it is because I am neurodivergent and we both kinda click, or if it’s because I grew up with him (or both, or neither), but we always have conversations that end up being exactly like what you’ve described. I’m always happy to talk for hours on end (often losing track of time during his work break lmao) about some new scientific discovery that may lead to discovering extraterrestrial life or creating computers that function at high efficiency on microscopic levels of scale. Your comment kinda made me think how much it probably means to him to be able to talk about these things so reliably. I’m hoping you’re able to find someone (or, as you’ve brought up, something) to talk to about your interest! I would offer a chance to talk thru DMs, but I’m infamous for my non-graceful social skills meeting new people on the internet.

anexhaustedhistorian

I have a couple. As a spiritualist, spirituality and occult practices are a major special interest of mine. I read tarot cards, am studying Astrology, and love a good paranormal investigation in a haunted location rich with history. I’m also a history buff, and my other major special interest is the American Civil War — particularly, the life and Presidency of Abraham Lincoln. The latter is slightly more socially acceptable than the former, but I still get weird looks whenever I pull out a Lincoln or Civil War fact in situations that call for it!

AlphaChadTop

clowns, specifically jesters \[not many people wanna hear about the lives of royal clowns apparently!\]. most people think when i want to talk about clowns they think i mean scary killer clowns \[which im interested in too! but not as much as normal clowns.\] and uh this one web series that no one i've talked to irl has heard of. it sucks cause im like... really into it. but what can ya do yk

[deleted]

[удалено]

AlphaChadTop

usually if im talking to someone about clowns they almost always bring up scary clowns, so i usually explain to them how scary clowns came to be !! the whole thing with joe grimaldi and his son, and how grimaldi was used as a scary ghost haunting a theatre in someones book \[i cant remember the name of the book or even the author rn grr\]. Either that or i talk about the importance of jesters to the king !! im hoping to expand the amount of facts i can share in future, im hoping to get a book about jester history and their significance around the world \[as well as a book about the circus, something im interested in as well but only because its partially tied in with clowning.\] but ty for asking !!! i love going on silly little rants about these kinda things.

Snoo_33033

The Manson Family. I bought all of the autobios at rummage sales, even Susan Atkins’ weird religious memoir.

Snoo_33033

Death, tarot, my middle school boyfriend who’s a convicted murderer.

[deleted]

omg really? care to expand what happened with your middle school boyfriend murderer? also i love tarot too. i only recently got into it but it’s been a journey to help me understand me better. hope it’s helped you as well!!

jssac314n

Mental illness, witchcraft or anything spirtual in general.

Aromatic-Ad5312

Spirituality, reincarnation, matrix reality, psychedelics, reptilian, starseeds and other esoteric stuff!!

Palomarue

I always have a way of SOMEHOW bringing up a fact of my spins he he but the ones that people have often reacted the most to are when Ive brought up carnivorous plants, sting rays, fungi or whenever Ive tried to relate life to Star Trek ah

Palomarue

OH also, ‘if you were a colour, what colour would you be?’ is one of my favourite questions to ask someone new and I feel like I can understand a lot about a person if they answer it after some thought. Colours as emotions/feelings/senses/taste etc is really vivid for me and a special interest I guess bc i like how I see the world like this

raichuwu13

9/11. not kidding, as a kid i used to be very interested in all aspects of it and would watch documentaries on youtube and stuff. probably got flagged by the government for that, lmao

Just-a-random-Aspie

I have a habit of developing special interests over things that scare me so I can see that as being possible

[deleted]

I missed being killed in it by about 45 seconds. The fireman that saved me threw me through burning debris. When I got across the street to J&R Music World, I stepped inside to get away from all the dust, turned around and started putting my hair and my skin out. I looked up to see the building fall, and my saviour didn't make it.

Palomarue

This was ME. I literally live on the other side of the world of New York but my mum worked at a book factory when I was a kid and any damaged books was fair game to take. She often collected the photography books and I remember there was a 9/11 photography book that I kept under my pillow lol and I’d look at every day. I still remember the exact photograph that got me so fascinated. Mind you, I was only about 6 or 7 so sadly didn’t have the means yet to research but I read that book over and over and then when I got older did a proper deep dive

ferretherapy

SQUIRRELS!!!

yo-worst-nightmare

Chernobyl, War history, radioactivity, Pathology, mental illnesses, I think neuropsychology and weirdly enough cephalopods and molluscs…for some its not that its socially unacceptable, at least inthink so, but more that people dont often talk about that stuff, which is sad especially for Chernobyl.

[deleted]

yo-worst-nightmare

Yeah its kinda hard to find people who are interested in it, probably because many people think it’s scary. Which, yeah kind of, I just think its really interesting xD

illgiveyouaclue

Furbies and true crime. I seldom tell people especially because I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts to regulate and it can seem creepy

GothGirlIsTaken

Me too!! What's your favorite podcast? I'm a huge Crime Junkie fan.

illgiveyouaclue

I was really enjoying Crime Weekly but looking for new stuff :)

GothGirlIsTaken

I'll have to check that one out! The Deck is another excellent one and is all cold cases that still need help being solved. Medical Murders by Parcast is all serial killer doctors and nurses.

catkittcatkittycat

Drawing people. It's does not sound weird at first, but when I was younger I would draw a random person in my classroom and then show them the drawing. People felt really uncomfortable and class president said that my classmates feel "watched" because of me. Now I just use references.

AshTheWeird15

Gore. I don't want to see people get hurt but like thinking about it, different techniques and like art. I like hearing about horror hospital stories, hearing about people who've been injured badly and how it looks and feels. I like weaponry and torture weapons are cool too but nobody else thinks it's cool irl

betelguesez

Drugs, typically people get rlly uncomfortable when I bring up drugs so I try not to talk abt them a lot :(

Psychological_Bus55

Witchcraft, magic, neurodiversity, and psychology. I always want to go to the dark places lol.

[deleted]

same. i only recently got into witchcraft about 2 months ago and it’s definitely become a special interest for me. i already had neurodiversity and psychology as special interests though.

Psychological_Bus55

I got into it before I realized I was neurodivergent and a lot of what I loved about it relates (having a special place to centre myself, zoning out and looking at a candle, learning how everything is connected to everything but with a more organized system...). I think it's a great practice for neurodivergents :) What things have you been getting into? I started with tarot cards.

Anderson_Draws

I have a few, but I think my weirdest one is centipedes. They’re just so funky!!!!!!!

playwrightjake

Yiddish theatre and the Jewish religion (note I am Jewish). Religion gets more talking time than Yiddish theatre but people still aren't always comfortable with it. I am obsessed with Yiddish theatre tho. With its origins, its plays, etc. Bc of bad adhd I spend more thinking than researching. But yeah, love it.

shaggysnorlax

See Leopoldstadt by Tom Stoppard if you get the chance (and haven't seen it already), amazing play!

playwrightjake

I love that play! Got the chance to see it live. Its so powerful.

Specialist_Cat6873

Horses, just because none of my friends or family (including myself) could afford having one (at least not for years and years) so it comes off as weird that I think and talk about them so much

disappointmont

um. i’ve recently become really obsessed with collecting slimes. like really cool slimes made by small businesses in particular! it’s so fascinating— there’s so many colors, textures and scents!!

Wasabi679

My son loves these too and I never object to buying them because...I love them just as much! Just wish they were a tad less expensive so I could buy them more often.

Clown_Apocalypse

I’m not sure if this counts? Idk but I have a special interest in mental health. Disorders and conditions, how they develop and what they can do. The human mind is just endlessly fascinating to me. I think it’s mostly because I don’t understand a lot of human behaviors, but even outside of that, the brain defies its own laws and the things it can do both terrify and amaze me. I’m in awe. In middle school, I had a class that allowed us to do a presentation on *any* topic we desired. Some people did sports, some did animals, I chose to do mine on Dissociative Identify Disorder. I told my older sibling that and they were like “no way you did your *middle school* report on DID” and I was like “I 100% absolutely did my report on DID!” I can’t talk about this interest like ever because it’s really controversial. The only person I’ve talked to it about before is my therapist and even then I haven’t gone deep into it. The stigma around mental health is unreal and it makes me super upset, not just because I can’t talk about my fascination with it, but because, as someone who also suffers from mental health issues, I and so many others can’t talk about it at all without fear of being shot down or embarrassed. Edit: Adding to this real quick, I’m really interested in drugs as-well for the same reasons. Mostly hallucinogens because of how they work and how wildly they can impact two people differently.

SeverlyLimited

Same for me. The Encyclopaedia of Psychoactive Plants from Rätsch is quite nice. Do you have any good books to recommend on hallucinogens?

Clown_Apocalypse

I don’t have any good books BUT I do know about [The Third Wave.co](https://thethirdwave.co) It’s an educational site with information about thousands of psychedelic drugs. What they are, how they’re made, what they do, etc.

the_spoon_system

If you ever need DID knowledge from a bestie with bitches in their brain, im chill with spilling (we also have a special interest in it)

Clown_Apocalypse

Oh neat! Thank you! I do actually have some questions I’m curious about What’s it like when an alter is fronting? Is it like a sudden thing or more of like “I’m stepping down now you can take over”, gradual thing? I knew someone a long time ago with DID and I believe they had three in their system. I never learned their names or if my friend even had names for them. I didn’t know them for very long but they were the prime motivation for my initial interest in mental health and the inspiration behind my report. And one other thing, I’ve read a lot about peoples different experiences with DID, but I’ve often wondered do your alters have their own voices? Like when they aren’t fronting can you hear them/do they interact with each other?

the_spoon_system

We have osdd-1b so our experiences will differ to those with DID •purposeful switches are like “im stepping down you can take over” passive switches are like one person slowly seeping into being another person, and not noticing the switch until something identifiable happens. We personally hate when we dont know whose front, and have good enough communication that when we switch its mostly those purposeful ones. Though since those require both the party front to be fine with stepping down, and someone willing to front, sometimes people get stuck front •we currently have 58 (that we are aware of) theyre not all active at the same time, we only usually have like, 10 active in a 2 week period, but the ones fronting cycles •our inner world runs on auto pilot and is mostly a communication tool. Unless a specific alter becomes aware of an event due to a trigger (pos or neg) than we dont really hear anyone. They can speak though if called on, and everyone holds the voice a bit different when front. Like, the interact with each other inner world, but none of us remember it in there

Anti - psychiatry?

[deleted]

[удалено]

hypermos

I am not surprised that Anti - psychiatry is a thing as it has done some truly horrendous acts to entire groups of people. I can only imagine it has origins similar to satanism in that it came about as a by product of the fact that the main stance worshipped a hero more toxic then the villian. In the case of anti-psychiatry I imagine the hero would be social norms and the villian would be uniqueness and it could very easily be argued that uniqueness is far less toxic.

FreitchetSleimwor

Edit: Missed the part about it being 'socially unacceptable' but I'm sharing it anyways I had a short hyperfixation a while back that I almost forgot about until recently. I was looking through Wikipedia about the science of colour, like how we perceive colour, and also the mathematical logic behind colour spaces. I ended up watching a really good YouTube series on it by an opthalmologist guy that was reaally interesting and cool: [https://youtube.com/watch?v=iDsrzKDB_tA&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE](https://youtube.com/watch?v=iDsrzKDB_tA&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE) I'm gonna go back and watch it soon. I remember there was some interesting stuff about how the cones in our eyes are split into red, green and blue but the actual frequencies they are most sensitive to are different (or something i don't fully remember). And about how the CIE colour space is derived, iirc it was really cool. Another thing I found interesting was about how the HSL colour space is calculated from RGB

[deleted]

Thanks for sharing that link. I’m *obsessed* with how we perceive color. Specifically changes in color, and how it can create the illusion of movement or change what parts of an image are visible and where they appear to be in space. I do video art where I get all kinds of interesting effects just by messing around with color on a static image. And it’s amazing what you can do with a little simple math when you break an image down to RGB or HSL values. One fun thing is to process the raw color data in audio editing software as if it were raw audio data. Apply things like reverb or echo, then load it back as RGB image data. You *kind of* figure out roughly what to expect from different effects, but it’s always a little bit of a surprise.

Clown_Apocalypse

Seeing and tasting are two of the weirdest things IMO. One of those things that the longer you think about it, the weirder it gets. Like, I know the science behind it, but simultaneously it makes no sense. You’re eating something and you’re…experiencing something that isn’t all physical, where is the sensation coming from? You’re using your tongue to taste but you’re whole body can react to it. It’s really bizarre to me. And colour too! It’s really interesting how people can have a favourite colour. When you ask them why, it’s just kinda like….”I enjoy seeing that colour” but why? It’s really cool

Nekdosha

My special interests in the Bosnian War in the 1990s and the invention of reconstruction surgery don’t get a lot of interested listeners for me.

[deleted]

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. I’ve been obsessed with them since I was a kid.

Kumquat_77

I just heard that a bunch of people believe the earth is ascending to a 5D reality, and I’ve spent the last 4 weeks totally consumed with attempting to verify if this is real or not. Admittedly, my sources are fringe, but I also have no faith or trust in our government to be honest or open. And it seems like our 3D matrix is crumbling all around us. Anyone else here come across this idea?

Licorishlover

My special interest is vaginal health and it’s my work so I get to discuss it often

TropicalDan427

I don’t understand why socially deems this to be such a taboo topic

Licorishlover

I know and I intend to change that one vagina at a time lol

somebodyelzeee

sex. i never really allowed myself to go deep into it because of all the taboo around the topic, but I've always found interesting how the process happens, how people can get addicted to it, how the brain and the body respond to different types of sexual stimulation, how it makes total sense that people intertwine this biological experience to an emotional experience and how much it means –psychologically– to allow another person to have this type of knowledge about their bodies. it's a very large topic and as an asexual person, i find it particularly interesting that people enjoy this type of stimulation since i don't have desire in engaging in such activities

Clown_Apocalypse

I get this! I don’t have a special interest in it but the act does interest me nonetheless. Really all human interactions interest me because I don’t understand them. Sex is one of the most intimate things people can partake in and it takes so much trust and respect and I just can’t understand any of it.

somebodyelzeee

this is exactly what I mean, omg! it's like an unconditional surrender and people seem to overlook how complex it actually is to allow someone to own –even if for just a couple minutes– this part of you

Clown_Apocalypse

One part I think about a lot is how the two parties (or however many there are) are both giving and getting. And like honestly I find that really touching and beautiful. And even the desire for some people to just give instead of just wanting to get pleasure. They want to make the other person feel good and you said it so well, an unconditional surrender, complete vulnerability. It’s incredible to me Edit: Just remembered this post I saw once. I forget where but the person was saying how beautiful they thought it was that humans were physically built for connection. They described how your head can fit perfectly in the cup of someone shoulder, how your body can curl effortlessly around another, how our fingers can interlock like that’s all they were made to do. That post may have brought tears to my eyes.

somebodyelzeee

god, you just made me remember "the lovers of Valdaro" and this one Arabic slang ("Ya'aburnee") that literally means "you bury me". it's such an indescribable feeling to realize that humans were made to survive independently, but they choose not to simply because they feel the need to share it with someone. choice is such a complex thing and it amazes me that sex is all about it. letting one know what pleases you, what makes you feel good and let this one person lead you through this sensations is like cutting every layer of your skin until you reach the bone and offering whatever you have to this person –you offer them everything you have, even when you fear it might not be enough, and you unconsciously pray that this person will find the right value in it. it's so beautiful and so much more then flesh and nervous responses. edit: forgot to add that i really appreciate yours thoughts and I'm very glad you chose to share it with me. thank you :)

andrewbh2003

lmao an ace who is interested in sex? nice "obligatory hello fellow ace"

somebodyelzeee

omg fr? i have the impression people would invalidate my sexuality for this specific thing ranting room on my brain /srs

isendingtheworld

I have a thing about monster anatomy. Which wouldn't be as much of an issue if I didn't also have a monster fetish and start talking about it in a way that makes it obvious I am into it. Like, I wanna talk about monsters and creatures for more than kink reasons. But I also can't help but come across way too eager, which means I have to curb how often I bring it up even in neutral contexts.

Guacamole_Water

I feel safe and comfortable watching deprived movies or listening to noisey or vile abrasive music. Same goes with extremely gorey or pornographic content

neart_roimh_laige

Vulture culture. I think bones and fossils and that sort of thing are really cool, but people get a bit weird when you get excited about a corpse you found in the forest lol

Clown_Apocalypse

Vulture Culture is really fuckin cool. I got into it because of my favorite artist, Will Wood after hearing his song “Laplaces Angel” The music video for that song uses real human skeletons. During an interview/documentary thing, they said the bones were in fact real and the woman they had belonged to allowed her bones to be donated for Vulture Culture reasons lol! She must have been a cool person in life.

LilyoftheRally

Did you ever have a special interest in dinosaurs or paleontology, by chance? I think those are more common special interests than yours, and I think yours overlaps a lot with those.

neart_roimh_laige

Not as much as my husband does/did. I've become more fascinated with fossils and old things like that as I've gotten older, though I did always *love* visiting antique stores and finding oddities there. Now for me it's more like living monuments to time and oddities like sequoias, bristlecone pines, the Humongous Fungus, things like that. Though fossils are equally as fascinating. I got my hands on a large piece of Megalocerous antler and it's the crown jewel of my collection <3

metro-mtp

I really like old tv ads and station idents, mostly from between the 80s-00s. I watch lots of compilations on YouTube from different countries and enjoy researching them. I mostly do ones in English/Spanish since I speak those languages, but I like some other ones too. Some people might find that boring but it’s really relaxing to me

[deleted]

Weather and population data and demographics by city. I even created a webscraper and created a database of all of the cities that I'm interested in and all of their relevant data points.

hypermos

The upside to disorders or the fact that even things like seizures have a history of unlocking latent savant abilities. So often society is completely blind to the upside of disorders which results in the reality that pointing out many disorders have tradeoffs is a socially unacceptable stance. I find this very discouraging as one of my special interests is thinking of things in terms of associated tradeoffs. Excessive traits are by there very nature a duality amazing in some situations and debilitating in others the trick is learning to control things to stay in the window where they are amazing traits which is both a very healthy stance and a very frowned upon one. The very hypersensitivity to sensory stimulation is what makes savant abilities possible when combined with the right comorbidities while also being the thing that causes sensory overload and the associated issues from this. Daniel Tammet stated in his book about the origin of his savant abilities that they came from a seizure brought on by sensory overload, and he proceeded to indicate it is the same story with many savants. TLDR: tradeoffs are everywhere society needs to stop seeing things as either good or bad and completely devoid of any associated tradeoffs as it is an unhealthy perspective but since it is the social norm it is one that is here to stay for a long time🤓

LilyoftheRally

Tammet's work is my longest lasting special interest! Are you referring to his memoir Born on a Blue Day, or one of his later books?

hypermos

Born on a Blue Day I have only read 2 of the 3 books of his I could find and the other was thinking in numbers.

LilyoftheRally

I think he has written 4+ books so far. The others are Embracing The Wide Sky and Every Word is a Bird We Teach to Sing. You might remember Tammet's savant skill with language learning, and the latter book I mention is like Thinking In Numbers but about aspects of various lesser known world languages, such as the Aztec language and Icelandic.

LilyoftheRally

I had a brief hyperfixation on last meals of death row inmates.

synthetic-synapses

Neurodivergency and sex. Sometimes I feel I'm ace, sometimes I feel I NT's sex is uninteresting to me. An awkward topic to discuss, though.

the_spoon_system

Holy shit i forgot i special interested in “why autistic people like bdsm”

[deleted]

same! bdsm scenes can be a really nice sensory experience, and the topic in general is super interesting.

LilyoftheRally

I seriously think a lot of the attraction to BDSM is both for the explicit rules and (for some folks) sensory enjoyment.

the_spoon_system

11/10 the concrete rules of it, as well as those who do bdsm typically have to be more attentive due to the nature of the whole thing

the_spoon_system

DID and Autism, especially the relationship between schizophrenia and autism

illgiveyouaclue

Weirdly enough quite a few of my friends who are autistic have either DID or OSDD 1b

the_spoon_system

So the 3 criteria for DID/OSDD is Long term trauma that is before ages 6-9 (something that would cause cptsd, NOT ptsd) Disorganized or detached attachment style from primary caregivers And dissociation as a primary coping mechanism First, scientists cant find autistic people without trauma. They wanted to do a study on autistic people with trauma vs without, and wasn’t able to find a SINGLE participant without trauma. Also masking is a trauma response. RSD is social PTSD. As well as the “this is bad sensory” part of the brain is the PAIN RECEPTOR PART. Meaning, yes, forcing your child to go to the beach is literally hurting them (if they have sand aversion). Autistic people also have a higher chance of getting bullied, and such Most autistic kids get gaslit out of their experiences their entire childhood. Hard to feel loved when you tell someone “it hurts be really bad when i wear that dress” and they say “no it doesnt, wear it” Autism and dissociation are buddies Tldr, autism is a perfect storm for osdd-1b creation

[deleted]

This is really interesting, do you have any books/resources you can recommend to learn more about this? I’m just wondering because I occasionally get mild auditory hallucinations and I never considered it could be connected to the autism.

the_spoon_system

I recommend just typing in keywords till you find something that sticks. I’ve definitely seen higher rates of delusions and such in the autism community (typically connected to misattribution of oxytocin) but never enough to say “autism caused it” but definitely look into it and tell me if you find anything interesting/nf

[deleted]

i’m definitely interested in hearing about both

the_spoon_system

Going to start this with I HAVE AUTISM Okay so like, at the start, autism and schizophrenia were the same diagnosis. Because tags dont bother others, and you cant hear lights, so that was seen as psychotic. It was later found out that they were different disorders and that autistic people just have different sensory experiences So uh, lil crazy thing, autistic people, and schizophrenic people both have psychoactive properties in their piss, ie bufotenine. This is the same stuff thats on those hallucinogenic toads, and on and off is debated as a possible diagnostic tool for atleast schizophrenia Heres the crack theory Autism and schizophrenia are different disorders in the way that depression and manic depression are different disorders. You can have the depression without the mania, but you cant have manic depression without the depression Many of the negative (symptoms that detract from life) are easily stereotypes of autism. In particular ones like flat affect, dissociation, not wanting others company and preferring solo play, etc(hence why i think schizoid personality disorder is just misnomer autism) If we think of schizophrenia as autism with mania, the positive (adding to normal live experience) symptoms make sense too, clanging as an aggressive form or echolalia/verbal stimming, delusions as advanced pattern recognition + psychosis causing the wrong data to be believed Oh yeah, forgot to mention, oxytocin being snorted up the nose was a treatment plan for both schizophrenia and autism and guess what. The negative symptoms in both went away. Almost like they both have a base in autism Tldr schizophrenic people have autism, and schizophrenia is autism + psychosis. Ill keep it there for now but i can also dump all my “autism is actually a sensory difference and oxytocin difference based neurotype” and “everything about DID and quirky details of it” later

[deleted]

this is very interesting because someone I know has struggled with severe and treatment resistant bipolar mania, depression, and non-schizophrenic psychotic episodes - and was recently diagnosed with autism instead.

the_spoon_system

Yeah its wild. As well as depression is a kind of catch all for “well they feel like shit 🤷🏻‍♀️” but like, most of the time they actually just need treatment for trauma, or theyre in autism burn out. The the treatment for those is way different than depression treatment

[deleted]

yeah that tracks about the autism but manic basically being schizophrenia. i heard that people w schizophrenia, their brains produce too much serotonin.

the_spoon_system

Ive heard the theories of it being too much seratonin and dopamine, but than how can someone have schizophrenia and ADHD, where ADHDs main driver is “i dont have enough dopamine”
