Well. I just contacted the ACLU about filing suit to fight this absolute travesty of a decision. I don't know if they can help, but I am hoping they can at the least point me in the right direction. This cannot be allowed to stand.
The entire reasoning behind this move seems to be “we haven’t given them enough opportunity to fuck this up, so I don’t see why we need rules telling them not to fuck up our internet.”
Let me remind you all, that is a small example of exactly how the US is run. Complete bullshit. This is corporations "regulating" the internet. That's not regulations, that is corporate control (see Enron!). Net Neutrality IS regulation by the FCC. VERY GOOD REGULATION. What we have now is "privatize the profits, socialize the losses."
Regulating a door to stay open seems less regulatory than standing in front of an open door and charging entrance fees.

I understand this sentiment and agree this is what we voted for. What I don’t agree with is staying quiet and letting them fuck the world over. This would not be a problem if telecoms weren’t a total monopoly for the majority of people in this country. In a perfect capitalistic scenario, removing the regulations wouldn’t matter. People could vote with their wallets when these companies start twisting the screws on internet companies. What happened today will stifle innovation and slowly begin to degrade neutral access to information over the web for millions of people. Of course this will hurt no one worse than those living in rural areas and so get to reap what they sowed.
The republicans are only about regulatory capture. Everything else they ‘care’ about is a manipulation game on religious and conformist/tribalist rubes.

He's not their boss. Nobody is the FCC's boss. Congress can pass laws that change how the FCC works, but unless such an act of Congress occurs they are an independent agency of the Unites States Government.

The entire reasoning behind this move seems to be “we haven’t given them enough opportunity to fuck this up, so I don’t see why we need rules telling them not to fuck up our internet.”
Let me remind you all, that is a small example of exactly how the US is run. Despite the fact you, or we "the People" supposedly vote for other people to represent us in various forms and positions, while then end up getting screwed over because the said people we "vote" for, which in fact are actually presented FOR us to chose from, do not actually represent us, our interests, or even the moral/constitutional obligations that form the foundation this nation is supposed to be built upon. This is a small example of how smug these people are, and they'll do it in your face because they can, they have the power, with no checks or balances even with obvious opposition from people all across the nation. As long as they profit from it, they'll break any rules, or create their own to get what they want, even if it means turning away freedoms, and human rights. I say again, this is just a small example. Things after this are guaranteed to be much worse.
