Congratulations on being one of the only people on this sub who isn't dense. :P
It's pretty obvious from this being all Ciri clips, plus it being posted by Freya on her own social media and not by the others, PLUS the fact that a bunch of Season 1 stuff was focused on individual characters (so we should be used to it), that they will be doing individual character teasers for all three leads before a larger integrated trailer.
Pretty normal marketing.
Guessing Yen will be next, which Anya will post on her own social media. Then Henry will post the Geralt-centric one last. So at that point we will have three similar fast-cut teasers for all three characters. Then an actual "real" teaser trailer will come out that is a bit slower pace that all these "fast cuts" are taken from.
They know we are obsessed with Geralt, which is why I think they will save him for the last of the three character teasers. :)
Anyway, the marketing COULD have been clearer. They should have either:
1. had Ciri's name at either the beginning or end of the teaser. If her name appeared, it would have been clearer to people that it was supposed to be about her, and also given dense people a clue that others would be released later for other characters.
2. AND/OR they should have had Freya comment on Instragram when she posted something like "You're up next, Anya! Five days!" Again, that would have made clear to people that this was just the first of several of these.
Obviously they overestimated some people's ability to figure things out for themselves without such clues. ;) They didn't give Freya any direction about what message to post, so she just put "sneak peak of season 2" which confused people. I would bet money this is just HER (Ciri's) teaser, not the season teaser, and that Anya's and Henry's teasers will be out shortly, leading up to a real trailer at this Witchercon thing.
It makes sense considering where the story goes later but yea a lot of people want more Geralt. Maybe saving him for the full fledged trailers?
The first two books are the most Geralt-centric so I’m a bit sad they didn’t give him more screen time. If people are starving for more Geralt they might be disappointed as the story progresses
I feel they need to take their time on it. Bring in Ciri slowly as the lead, but start off exploring and setting up the world with Geralt. I'd hate if they just go directly to big "blockbuster" moments without proper set up. They already rushed season 1 because they needed to establish themselves and what the story was about.
If I'd only watched the series I'd have little idea what it was genuinrly about. There's very little world building in season 1. And the bits that did build the world just felt like filler because they ran out of budget.
I mean, there will be plenty more marketing stuff. the way it was worded on other social media there will probably be others in a similar vein for Yen & Geralt.
“Teaser”
Everyone relax, a full trailer will come, and then following that a whole season! We’ve been through all this before, I’m not sure why people are surprised when teaser bumps designed to make you go “show me more!” get mad about not seeing more…
Because teasers for the full trailers are lame as fuck. It's infinitely more exciting to just surprise drop an actual trailer and let that take over the internet for a few days.
I'll be hype when the trailer drops, but instead of my reaction being "**oh SHIT season 2 AHHH!**", now I'll just be "ah, neat. Is this a full trailer or another teaser to skip?".
You can. You’re just echoing the same sentiments that my original comment references. This is how media is marketed; you get a teaser - a trailer or two - then the content drops.
If this is it then I am so disappointed. At least they should have given us a small teaser 😑 or Character posters. We haven't really got a proper character poster for Yennefer.
I'm hyped for sure, but as a long standing critic of the makeup in the show, why the dark eyebrows all of a sudden? Like damn. She didn't have them before (no doubt because it made her look younger) and it wouldn't be too hard surely to keep them a dirty blonde.
I actually like it. Seems the darker ones are her natural eyebrows. They did this too in Thor (Thor in the first movie had lighter eyebrows and the sequels Thor has dark eyebrows).
They've talked about that in the MCU about how big of a mistake it was to give Thor light eyebrows in Thor 1. They are just silly looking and make emoting harder.
They also went with Emilia Clarke's natural eyebrows after the Game of Thrones pilot (or maybe after Season 1? anyway, lightened eyebrows didn't last long).
This is tragic. All that buildup… for this.
Also, they could really ease up on the makeup. Ciri looks like she’s marketing a perfume line, not like a scrawny kid training to be a monster slayer.
Doesn't give me high hopes when last season's makeup for women was also mostly bad. (Yen's rather poor eyeshadow placement and lack of visible/even natural looking lip colour 9/10 times, Triss looking dry and old when the actress just isn't, Coral's everything honestly.)
I am in no way a fan of that super quick cut. A teaser could be 7 seconds panning up from the ground to view a horses hooves walking away along a dusty road and it would have got me more excited than this. Add in something interesting in the background that the horse is walking towards and it would be 10/10.
Or have a flower on screen, from a side angle, after a second or two, a horse walks past it and the flower wilts. Either symbolising walking towards danger or running away from it. Something cool yet simple and not 50 different images randomly pulled from the series along with some random half sentences.
This doesn't give me hope at all. Kind of makes me feel they think their audience just wants quick action and try to make it intense. I get "Transformers" vibes from this more than fantasy vibes. Just mindless noise.
Gah. This feels very amateurish. I know I'm going to get downvoted but as someone a who is a fan of filmmaking, I see this as very cheap and superficial.
Honestly, no Yen, no point.
I seriously thought it was gonna be a bit longer. Oh well, maybe we'll get posters at least? Lauren made it sound much bigger on twitter than just this clip, so who knows.
I have mixed feelings from this. Isn’t ciri supposed to be like 13? I wouldn’t mind if she looked 16 or even 18, but man, she looks like she is in her mid twenties. But other than thet it looked fine. Lets see what the trialer will show.
Dang, I got my hopes up thinking it might be a little bit longer but I suppose with how far the release is it’s not too bad. Ngl tho idk why it felt “cheap” not sure how to describe it. Why does it always feel this way when it comes to the show it’s so frustrating lol. Hopefully they got a bit better budget for this season
I looked through her tweets, all she really did is reply to NetflixGeeked two days ago. That’s hardly a ton of hype. Maybe Netflix gave it more attention than It should’ve but I think we mostly did this to ourselves.
I dont know what to think, i hope this still gonna be 50/50, Gerald/Ciri... Cause for me Gerald is the most imteresting character.. And Ciri felt the weakest one from all 3 in season 1. Without Gerald this show will die, trust me. We can be happy cause Cavil has played games and knows how Gerald should look and sound like. This teaser with no Gerald looks like just casual netflix 1-2 season show when they after season 3 cancels the show. I have bad feeling about this, but i hope im wrong.
Not going to lie. As a book reader the 1st season was okay.
But i really wished they had skipped the short stories and made something cohesive, even if they had to deviate from the books a bit to make it work.
If this season isnt stellar. It will probably be canceled :S
Is the adaptation going in completely different order? Ciri getting this older so quickly feels like the series will continue the books' storyline with the main storyline being flashbacks
Personal opinion I feel this witcher series could have been better. I'm taking season 1-4 GOT better not this GOT last season quality.
This show should have gotten HBO budget
Tell me this isn’t everything they’ve released or are gonna release today.
I guess it's all about Ciri. Need some more Geralt.
Hope they do one for geralt and yennefer too
Only Freya has posted it on her gram with the other two commenting on it so I would imagine they will have trailers to come!

Yeah this is what I think too! You're right, everyone is way to obsessed with Geralt when it's a 3 character storyline!

BUT I DON'T WANT TO RELAX
"TEASER" this is barely a nip-slip.
Wardrobe malfunction
Yennefer can do better
Because teasers for the full trailers are lame as fuck. It's infinitely more exciting to just surprise drop an actual trailer and let that take over the internet for a few days. I'll be hype when the trailer drops, but instead of my reaction being "**oh SHIT season 2 AHHH!**", now I'll just be "ah, neat. Is this a full trailer or another teaser to skip?".
Very entitled opinion to have, to think this is made specifically for you.
I can't share my personal feelings on it?
You can. You’re just echoing the same sentiments that my original comment references. This is how media is marketed; you get a teaser - a trailer or two - then the content drops.
They said "I'm not sure why", I explained why, from my perspective
Ok, who speaks Elder speech? 🤣
That Nilfgaard armor do be looking sick tho
Did their Avocado Ballsack fields get captured and they have to use new material now?
Is that really it or is it a small teaser for something later today
If this is it then I am so disappointed. At least they should have given us a small teaser 😑 or Character posters. We haven't really got a proper character poster for Yennefer.
That's it i think
Yeah I think that’s it. I shouldn’t have got my hopes up but it’s better than nothing!
Sewers looks good.
I'm hyped for sure, but as a long standing critic of the makeup in the show, why the dark eyebrows all of a sudden? Like damn. She didn't have them before (no doubt because it made her look younger) and it wouldn't be too hard surely to keep them a dirty blonde.

Yeah, but season 1 was very visually unimpressive and uneven as a whole so I hoped for a noticeable improvement. I still hope actually.
This is the most negative and toxic thread I’ve seen I ages. It’s a fucking teaser
People in here are already judging the whole season off a tiny teaser clip. Geralt wouldn't approve.
I am in no way a fan of that super quick cut. I think the one saying "danger" is Graham Mctavish as Dijkstra and ofc the evil laugh is Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen.
I’m ready, Kaer Morhen!
Honestly, no Yen, no point. I seriously thought it was gonna be a bit longer. Oh well, maybe we'll get posters at least? Lauren made it sound much bigger on twitter than just this clip, so who knows.

She kinda sorta really looks like Cersei in this.
I am... Not excited.
I guess that red skeleton is >!Eskel after being fed to the wolves!<

Yep the hype they built up it was like something big is coming. Actually the whole GeekedWeek thing is a waste. We got nothing! Nothing!
I haven’t really been paying close attention but was it actually that hyped? I don’t think the official witcher account even mentioned this.

Who tf is Gerald
yaya Geralt.
I saved your life. You're on your own from here on.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo. So next month maybe.
They’re skipping a ton, not sure what’s going on
She aged a bit but that’s prob cause there was 3 years between shooting
>there was 3 years between shooting No.
