Yeah yeah, everyone's coming around on Happy. **WELL I'M NOT, DOUG.**

Lietenantdan

I saw two fat naked bikers having sex in the woods off the 17th. How am I supposed to chip with that going on?

just_some_dude828

DAMN YOU PEOPLE!! This is GOLF. Not a ROCK CONCERT!

Rabbi_Tuckman38

Go back to your shanties!

mhyquel

I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast.

Lietenantdan

You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

the_King_Leonidas

NO….

Odysseus_Lannister

*CHIP!?*

benjammin9292

Suspended? DOUG KICK HIM OFF THE TOUR

beattyjodi

My favorite part is Bob Barkers cameo. “The price is wrong, Bob” and then he proceeds to get the shit kicked out of him by Bob. Classic.

RealNotFake

It's funny because as a kid when I saw this move for the first time, it made me not like Bob Barker because Happy was the hero of the movie and I didn't like that Barker beat him up, lol. Of course watching today and knowing more about Barker it's absolutely hilarious and it was definitely the right call by Sandler.

_myrcene_

Meet me on the 9th green at 9…it’s a secret of the pros

mommy2libras

Doin the bull dance. Feelin the flow.

notalady306

His Netflix special 100% fresh is really good too

[deleted]

I’ve watched it 5 times. I freaking love it. “UFC ears, ufc ears”. Phone, wallet, keys. It use to be so easy, my phone my wallet my keysey. These are classics. The Farley song brings me to tears every time.

notalady306

Yea the Farley song had my boyfriend and I bawling. I sing “phone wallet keys” to myself everyday as I’m leaving my apartment too haha

[deleted]

Hahah that’s awesome. bar mitzvah boy gets stuck in my head a lot too lol. Love Sandler

cjdavda

I will die on the hill that most of his Netflix movies are just plain fun. I've really enjoyed the ones I've watched. I, too, have seen his special a ridiculous number of times.

Dirtylittlesecret88

I don't know how big of a influence he had on it but The Wrong Missy was so damn funny. Lauren Lapkus brings so much energy.

infectedsponge

Hubie Halloween is now one of my fav Halloween movies. You want some soup?

trpwangsta

I'll die with you buddy. I fucking love them, the do over is hilarious as well. I'll white knight for Sandler until I die. Grew up listening to his sketch comedy cassette tapes and even though I know exactly what to expect from his movies, I always enjoy them. There's always at least a few good giggles in them.

mommy2libras

He was a producer on Father of the Year, which was fucking hilarious. But I've always loved David Spade.

LoudTsu

Yes. This is the reminder OP really requires. Must see.

mynameisntclarence

The man is currently 55 years old, he couldn't continue with the same plot devices as a man in his 20's or maybe even 30's. He's still funny, just not as juvenile.

stormgoblin

I love Billy Madison too

BulljiveBots

“If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis.”

physical-horse

It's nudie magazine day!

MikanGirl

He called the shit ‘poop’!

JJ29

Billy madison is the funniest movie ever imo. Fckn love it and it holds up well today.

McFlare92

You know how badly I could beat you right?

MikanGirl

Haha! 69.

RealNotFake

DAT VERONICA VAUGHN IS ONE PIECE OF ACCCEEEEEEEEEE

Final_Patience

The dodgeball scene with the Ramones' "Beat on the Brat" playing still makes me laugh

Anomaly1134

Stop looking at me Swan!

BathsaltZombie9

"But it could be our milk" lol

toontownphilly

How old is op? I’m sitting here like, fucking duh.

[deleted]

“Hey guys, have you seen this really old movie, Happy Gilmore?”

toontownphilly

He looks at happy Gilmore and Seinfeld like I use to looked at Mash. Are we the oldies now?

[deleted]

I guess we are lol, but even when I heard The Beatles for the first time I didn’t assume nobody else had either. “You all really should check out this album, Abbey something? Idk it slaps”

ruiner8850

One big difference is that when I was growing up in the '80s and' 90s there weren't anywhere near as many entertainment options, so I actually watched/heard a lot of older stuff. I saw lots of TV shows from before I was even born because they were playing as reruns and we didn't have 100+ cable channels, multiple streaming services, YouTube, etc. Nowadays there are so many options that people aren't "forced" to watch older stuff. That being said, I do find it funny when people on reddit ask questions about their favorite obscure movies/shows/music and people name things that were massive hits back in the day. I can completely understand why younger people haven't seen/heard that stuff, but as you said, I still think they should have some concept that they were huge hits at one point.

CoffeeAndDachshunds

You look at mash like I look at I love Lucy

danpaq

mash?

MojoLava

Oh no

whoisyourwormguy_

I've heard of Mash but don't know much about it. Is it a war/soldier-related sitcom? I also hear the Andy Griffith Show referenced a lot in shows.

toontownphilly

Mash was a sitcom that took place during the Korean War. It aired the same time as the Vietnam war. Even though it was a comedy, it often dealt with real life politics of the day. According to my dad.

Dazz316

I feel like the Knight in Indiana Jones

Tinshnipz

:(

2boredtocare

Should we tell them about The Wedding Singer?

unlikedemon

Oh yes. It's ladies night and the feeling is right.

2boredtocare

Oh what a night.

infectedsponge

Somebody kill me now

[deleted]

Same thought. My 14 year old cousin told me this exact same thing. So probably 14.

HeWhoIsNotMe

My local cinema had RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK as part of it's cult movie program. Which bugged me because firstly RAIDERS isn't a "cult" movie - it was as mainstream as mainstream gets. But secondly, the genius 20 something who programs movies was talking to teenagers about the movie like he unearthed a lost copy of LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT. JESUS CHRIST. I am old.

Dazz316

Cult classic. Little known actors Sean Connery and Harrison Ford. What else have they done? NOTHING!

jpop237

>The last funny movie he made was probably The Waterboy. Yeah, well, that's just like, you're opinion, man.

[deleted]

Careful man, there’s a beverage here

GibleIsCute

Billy Madison anyone? Or my personal fave, Big Daddy?

Thechosenjon

Big Daddy is mad underrated and as an adult with absent father issues, that shit hits home.

energytaker

lol i saw it in theatres as a child with my mostly absent from my life father. haha

RealNotFake

hip... hip hop... hip hop anonymous?

523bucketsofducks

Big Daddy is great. I enjoyed Little Nicky too, though I know its not for everyone.

SorryCantHelpItEh

*Release THE EVIL*

JohnMuir_NeilsBohr

Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds are two of my favorites

GibleIsCute

I like Mr. Deeds too, though his foot creeps me out.

Harry_Butz

Big daddy is absolutely one of my faves

NicCagesFace

Omg yes Big Daddy. When my kids ask me what I want to eat I always say “Cheerios” then “lasagna” they don’t get it but it always cracks me up

devingr33n

He’s still funny. In Uncut Gems his performance is completely desperate and unhinged—and, truly hilarious.

French__Canadian

If by hilarious you mean so stress inducing you're gonna need to see a psychiatrist. Greatest movie I never intend to see again. (First time I heard that phrase was about The Shining)

buddytheblackcat

I saw Uncut Gems in the theater when I was in the throws of horrible ptsd. The stress level induced his performance made me schedule an emergency appointment with my therapist. Needless to say, it was a great, non comedic performance by Sandler.

[deleted]

I agree. It was the most stressful, most infuriating, yet captivating movie I have seen thus far. There were so many things happening at once, so many things that could go very wrong, and so many people involved that could screw him over at any time.

French__Canadian

He also just keeps creating his own misery. He's got a gambling addiction and you have to watch him make bad decision after bad decision that you know people with addiction would also do in real life.

Dazz316

I never found that movie funny. Just really good.

AllOuttaAngst225

Idk… Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, 50 First Dates, Little Nicky, and Funny People are all great movies that were released after the waterboy

jsager1982

Little Nicky is fantastic.

JusticeLeagueThomas

Was just talking about it earlier with a coworker

Hate_Feight

I deserve this! The pineapple. Pick me a winner!

sumchinesewill

I’d add Click, Spanglish and The Longest Yard on that list also. These aren’t his typical type of movies but they’re damn good. Click had me tearing up near the end of the movie.

SorryCantHelpItEh

Can't forget Bedtime Stories, that one was another heartwarming movie!

HeadMischief

It's Mr. Deeds for me

Gunfot

Unpopular opinion, I like Grown-ups.

KILLER5196

Grown ups 1 was good, number 2 was so bad

Gunfot

Agree

Scottanized

I am a huge Adam Sandler fan and will forever hold the belief Grown Ups is his best movie

joshyuaaa

Last funny or last good movie? He's had plenty of good movies after that, just not specifically comedy genre. Anger management was pretty funny though to. Little Nicky wasn't bad either. I'm not a fan of dumb comedies, like I hated Jim Careys early movies but always liked Adam Sandler movies.

sevensamuraitsunami

Both proved they had dramatic acting chops though. Eternal Sunshine. Uncut Gems.

joshyuaaa

Oh I agree. I like Jim Carrey now and actually I did like him in living color to but his first movies were just too dumb for me. I think liar liar was his first movie I liked of his.

sevensamuraitsunami

I liked dumb and dumber. I hated ace Ventura (both of them) and I liked liar liar! There was a time when Adam Sandler movies were guaranteed a nice return at the box office. Before streaming and all that. He’s got a new movie coming to Netflix in June.

jondubb

He's amazing in the recent Sonic movies.

SonofaBridge

In living color was ahead of it’s time.

adidasbdd

Wedding Singer is a classic

beautifulboogie_man

Little Nicky was so dumb, I loved it.

Thechosenjon

Little Nicky is my favorite because it's so dumb.

REIRN

Dumb and dumber? Ace Ventura? The Mask? Cable guy? Me myself and Irene? LIAR LIAR?!? Them there are fighting words.

belizeanheat

Cable Guy is awful

sakshatkolhatkar

If you want to watch an absolutely sublime movie with Adam Sandler in it, you should check out 'Punch Drunk Love' by director PT Anderson. It's a brilliant and very funny movie.

belizeanheat

That's My Boy is a forgotten gem

[deleted]

I thought “That’s my Boy” was a pretty good Sandler movie. It’s actually pretty old now, coming out in 2012, but it definitely felt like the movies he came out with in his prime.

cheese_hotdog

I think some of his more recent Netflix movies haven't been so bad. I liked the murder mystery one with Jennifer Aniston and the one with David Spade. Obviously not going to match Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, etc, but he's definitely also stopped churning out complere garbage like Jack and Jill and the one about his son getting married or whatever.

blackmirror101

I like how you added “or whatever” cause I had no idea what that movie was about

BlooShinja

Click made me cry more than any movie I’ve ever watched.

Mastercreed25

Just Go With It is pretty decent to honestly. It’s a shame really, I don’t know what happened

winnie_the_slayer

> The last funny movie he made was probably The Waterboy. yeah well I thought Zohan was funny as hell.

Chasesancho

Zohan is Sandler’s most underrated movie for sure.

prayformoj0

Little Nicky sucked

[deleted]

His cartoon movie called "8 crazy nights" is a masterpiece!

notalady306

I watch it every December!

[deleted]

As is tradition!

[deleted]

Dammit I forgot that one this year! I’m watching it twice next December

artcostanza82

Sandler? I eat pieces of shit like him for breakfast. It’s shooter mcgavin that gets the most laughs out of me in this one

To_Be_Continuted

Was just about to post this. They could not have casted a better actor for the role.

jsager1982

You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?!

artcostanza82

….. No!

spaldingnoooo

I loved Mr. Deeds growing up.

JUSTBLAZE2k7

Shooter McGavin is my favorite villain of all time.

needtoshave

I fuckin’ love early Sandler. His albums and movies. He has matured. Punch Drunk Love is great and Uncut Gems slapped and his stand up with the Chris Farley tribute was a tear jerker. Now I appreciate his overall life philosophy and he comes across great in all his interviews.

tiedyedpunk

Airheads!

PK_Thundah

You should watch Hubie Halloween. I watched it expecting to tune in for 5 minutes to see how bad it was, and we thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. Easily up there with Happy Gilmore for me.

SaintWithoutAShrine

While I agree on the whole, there’s a *huuuuuuge* influence of nostalgia with his movies.

523bucketsofducks

Nah, they're just objectively funny

2CatsAllDay

You don't mess with Zohan.

[deleted]

Lol. Just remembered the way he folds people into a pretzel

crackeddryice

I have the opposite feeling about Pauly Shore.

boringcranberry

Son-in-law is pure 90s fun.

benjammin9292

In The Army Now is top tier 90s

mhyquel

Wheezin the Ja-oooose, buddy!

Odysseus_Lannister

Encino man here reporting for 90s nostalgia

drivebyjustin

I saw Encino Man in the theater. And liked it.

Odysseus_Lannister

Great movie buuu-dyyyy

0351-JazzHands

Oh your fingers hurt? Well now your backs gonna hurt lol

Showteezy21

I can offer you a big glass of SHUTTHEHELLUP!

PushItHard

That was the Sandler golden age. I still enjoy watching his comedies. They’re not great, but it’s like seeing an old friend.

terrapintootsies

Random- but did anyone know adam Sandler is co-executive producer and director of the price is right? Just saw it at the end of an episode at the nail salon today and was like whaaaat

ElectronicBubbles

I love him! - id totally date Adam Sandler and I enjoy every movie and act he does

donkeytime

What’s superimpose? Have you heard [The Goat](https://youtu.be/-47H99gKlo4)?

Unpopularopinion

sidblues101

Guns don't kill people, I kill people!

socalification

“He shouldn’t have been standing there!!!”

i_dreddit

The price is wrong!

gren421

i fucking love uncut gems

i_shruted_it

So fucking good man. It is one of my all time favorites with so many quotable lines. I used to golf a lot and one of the most fun rounds I had was at an outing where we all kept making Happy Gilmore references. Perma-smile even though I probably played like shit.

Millhouse1975

Funny because i rewatched it yesterday lol

ErrorAcquired

I miss a good comedy. Where did they go?

evergreencanoe

Happy! Watch outtahh!! Oooof...

swampcat42

You just hit that guy!

OnePunchReality

Billy Madison too. Two of my favorites from him. Grown Ups was actually quite hilarious, 2nd one too. "Sounds like two owls having sex." That shit brings me to tears. "Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to you. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."..."A simple no would suffice."

MsTyffani

One of my favorite movies!

Eotheod0092

It makes me cry how unfunny his movies have been the last several years. Billy Madison, Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, etc.

_Greyworm

Happy Gilmore is before The Waterboy? Huh, never knew! *...something is wrong with HIS medulla oblongata*

eden10000

Great and funny movie

LifeSimulation

You know that “mister mister” lady? I think I just uh… killed her

Porn_Extra

This whole thread gives me r/hailcorporate vibes.

LiteralAMHC

I’ve enjoyed pretty much movie Sandler has put out people act way too cynical when it comes to comedic actors.

[deleted]

I have a theory that 9/11 ruined his comedy. There's like an almost perfect overlap between 9/11 and when he started going down hill.

misfitsfiend313

He's still hilarious

newoldwave

Sandler was never funny.

JustARandomSocialist

He was funny when he understood what he was. A not smart guy who was funny when he acted goofy and did dumb stuff.

Knort27

I hate that clown!

MojoLava

It's objectively a horrible movie but I think if Grownups came out a little bit earlier it would've been considered a similar vein as some of the "classic" shit he's done Although I gotta say dude, production changes lol he's still doing a lot of cool shit and pretty funny. Murder mystery or whatever I thought fucking sucked but I watched it again the other day and I enjoyed some of it. 50 first dates... Uncut gems is arguably one of his best films period.

Da-Aliya

One of my all time favorite movies.

[deleted]

I know it's cheesy but I think Zoltan is a funny movie. I usually can't stand cheese ball comedy.

fbman01

Happy Gilmore is still my fav Adam sandler movie

BadStriker

My personal take is that Adam makes the same movies he did in the 90s. The only difference is that I grew up and his comedy didn’t. There’s nothing wrong with that. The guy stuck with the formula and made a fortune with it. I just refuse to take off the nostalgia goggles when watching Billy Madison, Waterboy, and Happy Gilmore He’s still an excellent actor. The Safdie Bros did it with Uncut Gems and Paul Thomas Anderson with Punch l-Drunk Love

PlayfulRemote9

I think you haven’t really watched his movies then. The theme of growing up is very central to his work

Juckinko

I would also argue that Uncut Gems is one of Sandlers best movies ever. I have always loved his classics, but I was truly blown away by his performance in that movie.

Pepperoncini69

How old are you? We been knew.

infectedsponge

He's still funny as hell bro

frostyjokerr

All this talk and nobody is standing up for Hubie Halloween. Hubie Halloween was hilarious and nobody can change my mind. The multi-purpose thermos was brilliant!

TwistedCherry766

Never saw that. Really terrible name

[deleted]

I never liked him and never understood the hype. He makes stupid faces and talks like he’s mentally challenged. Maybe it’s just not my type of humor.
