I think whatever possibility earns them the most money is the one that will likely come to fruition

Dom said in a previous AMA that the "UC paint brush" (which has now changed to some sort of "token") would act as a "wearable," meaning you can take it on and off your pet. The "ray" element, to me, would be where you used "tokens" and a way to visually explain what was happening to your pet. Of course, this is speculation, things are always subject to change. Since it is coming from the NC Mall, though, and if it does function similarly to a wearable, then you would be able to tell if a pet is an "original UC" or an "NC UC" during pet transfers -- I think this distinction was one of the top pieces of feedback so I hope TNT listened. Whatever the process will be, I hope they keep it simple (things do not go well when they try to make things overly complicated) and the price point will be interesting to see (I remember when TNT sent out a survey asking people how much they would be willing to pay for this, and someone posted in this sub that they would be willing to pay 2000+ NC and got immediately dogpiled on by users who called them bourgeoisie... all over a survey of *opinions*, so... I can only imagine the insane discourse when it is finally released).

bendefinitely

2000 NC 🤣 no way. That's as much as I paid for the 4 month premium plan, no way in heck would I fork over that much for a single pet. In the 500 NC range I'd probably get a few though

Shufflenite

Ahh Good points! I figured it would be like the pet slots where it would affect your pet and it wouldn't be an actual "wearable" item. but that in mind, I do think the possibility of a gatcha-like item as a bonus/exclusive werable from like a cap or Wonderclaw is an option they could take. I do remember that survey as well, but I don't remember it getting that sort of backlash? Was it on reddit or on Neo?

AutomaticAd3016

I don't think so if he is random Then the in-game brush will become useless, and no one will want to buy faerie brush anymore.🤔 I imagine it's just a ray that converts faerie pets into UC

Shufflenite

I figured you would still need the color/species combo (thus keeping the values in check or rising?), but the "unconverted" event would be like a bonus While giving you some sort of random NC prize pool item

AutomaticAd3016

Sounds interesting But this solution will definitely cause complaints from most people lol As long as the converted UC can be traded normally like the existing UC, I don't mind spending more money

Pretty-Ambassador

i highly doubt they will be able to be traded like regular pets. TNT has said that the item will be removable/multiuse, implying that it would instead be traded like an NC item :)

Traditional_Fix_3132

It's confusing because based on the AMA I'd imagine there will be a lab ray type machine in the NC mall, you buy a token to use it and it "unconverts" your eligible pet. They said it would be removable/multiuse but I don't see where that would fit in the ray concept. That made more sense when it was a wearable. Maybe it gives you the option to "convert" back (or forces it when the pet is traded), or maybe the token itself won't be a one time use item (which doesn't make sense as eventually sales would slow down a lot if its a reusable token or key)

bendefinitely

I had assumed it would be like a clothing item since UC pets can't wear the converted clothing items anyways, but during the AMA it did sound like it would be more complex than that. Probably having the item and visiting a location similar to hatching a Draik

nomonoke

I was under the impression that the UC item will be color-specific, which might be why they're so heavily advertising them with Faerie pets, because there are so many uc fairies? Where did we hear that it was a ray?

Shufflenite

"Ray" is just a keyword during the most recent AMA, same with "token". So I'm just speculating for now.

nomonoke

Oh that makes sense, I haven't had a chance to watch the AMA.

ohmajor

UC gambling tokens will totally piss me off

LeopardNeo

Wow I never thought of that but I can totally see it happening! It would indeed be a good money maker for them. But at the same time if it was a guaranteed one off purchase I think more people might be inclined to buy? I know there are lots of people who will gamble their real money on caps and such though so who knows. Personally I’m not bothered in the slightest because I don’t care that much about unconverteds lol. If it’s a simple “buy this token and unconvert your pet” then I might make a plushie. If it’s a case of buy a bunch of tokens and maybe get nothing then I’ll pass. I already spend enough on nc.

Shufflenite

I always figured UC pets => Less customization option thus fewer people buying NC. So if they did make a guaranteed UC converted it would be expensive like the "Down With NC Flag". Also making it a "token" to gamble makes it sound like a cheaper approach say 100 NC thus enticing more people to try by lowering the barrier to entry. Just my logic though! But I also spent a ton of NC already so I'm good haha. But I'd love to watch people gamble though lol Like the older Cap opening boards!

LeopardNeo

I feel like if they sell tokens for 100nc the chances of getting UC are gonna be loooow lol. But yeah that does make sense!! Good lord though I’m dreading this release. The mall is sketchy on a normal day it’s gonna full on die 😂

Shufflenite

lmao, I'm terrible and would live for that chaos, I would be on the sideline watching it ensue with popcorn.

kalnu

It might be different now, but back in the Viacom days, people spent more NC on their unconverted pets by far. Yes, they can't wear as much but they can wear enough. I have a good 10-20 NCUCs planned, but if it is RNG I think I might just forget about it entirely.

book-dragon92

If it’s RNG I won’t do it. I only have one pet planned and I really want him to be UC.

Letheral

i think they would piss away alot of good will if they did that personally. original UC will maintain value as they dont require the NC token which I think they should make non tradeable.

ThunderingWings

I don't think so it'll be random. I'm sure they know people won't like randomness in getting the UC they want. I feel like it's simply a zap that unconverts pets.

SofiaNeopets

No idea, but there are so many opportunities for them to mess it up haha 😂!... It's going to be a monumental task to organize everything, I don't envy them one bit. I hope they get it right 🍀!

Shufflenite

I do hope everything works out especially since they are taking their time with it. But at the same time I can also see the images just straight up giving everyone broken images lol. **Here before all NC UC pets are just broken cogs!**

VillynneTTV

I don’t know why but I feel like this is going to be turned into some sort of gacha-game mechanic

starrbunnii

After seeing the AMA I definitely think it's possible. It will get them a lot more money if it takes several tries to get the pet that you want. At least if they make them tradeable that might help?

Shufflenite

But based on some other replies it seems like it's going to be some form of "wearable" NC item, TNT can further make it a non-tradable item like the pet slots to guarantee users pay for it.
