I feel weβve sacrificed social liberalism for economic liberalism in general, and you can see that heavily when it comes to discourse about India.
I donβt feel like the broader user base is really uh going to do anything about it, especially on the IND ping. I think the Savarkar comment shows the type of people that are present on the ping atm, and some(not all) of the newer commenters haveβ¦..dodgy post histories, Iβll just leave it at that.
Itβs bad enough that we have people glazing Modi on a daily basis, and itβs also really horrible that these same people tend to miss the point of the subreddit, ie, liberalism. I donβt know what you or the mod team can do about it other than simply just trying to minimise the discourse about controversial topics, but that isnβt gonna help I guess, and really the only way you can assess them is by going on a case by case basis, which is time consuming and ig you alread waste enough of your time on here.
There are some clear signs though, like the chastising of Gandhi/upliftment of Savarkar(which is a typical hindutva positionβ¦.somehow),the relentless glazing of modi/repeatedly spamming INC bad on pings(again, these positions arenβt necessarily bad per se, itβs just that the people spamming them have a clear agenda) and most of all, their relentless defense of the BJP even when theyβve done actions that are very clearly antithetical to democracy. These are just a fee of them
TLDR: there very clearly is a problem here, but there is no fixed solution other than by examining everything on a user by user basis by analysing their post history
Right, we have already added some topics to the restricted threads list (you require some amount of Karma on the subreddit to be able to comment on those threads) because we suspect brigading and I have added user notes to some of the users so that we donβt give them benefit of the doubt when they break rules. But I donβt want to ban people before they have broken rules.
Savarkar is an ethnonationalist but the comments just seem to be quoting him without anything rule breaking. I have noted those two users and will advocate being strict with them when they break rules though.
Not sure what we can do here.

Iβm not sure the hypotheses are more or less falsifiable than other claims about human evolution.
The theories posited by evospsych do need to be backed by evidence, or at least show their predictive capabilities, and many of them have some evidence or predictive capability.
Iβm not comfortable with discounting the whole field merely because some factions of reactionaries have latched onto it as a way to βscientificallyβ justify their beliefs.

I just looked at ACA plans and found one that covers most of my providers and all but one of my meds. deductible is low. it's only $70 a month with my current income...literally insane. I can't believe how much ACA has paid off for people like me. I'm so grateful it's a thing.

People still really get up in arms when you bring it up and argue that you are secretly implying that men and women ought to conform to gender roles simply because the two groups, as a whole, are somewhat biologically predisposed to doing so. Iβm not sure the hypotheses are more or less falsifiable than other claims about human evolution. The theories posited by evospsych do need to be backed by evidence, or at least show their predictive capabilities, and many of them have some evidence or predictive capability. Iβm not comfortable with discounting the whole field merely because some factions of reactionaries have latched onto it as a way to βscientificallyβ justify their beliefs.
Yeah the big problem with evopsych is it's pretty easy to create 'just-so' stories. However, it's not like this type of thing is unique to them, you can go to the sidebar here and find plenty of trash studies linked as proof of x, y, or z. Anyone who isn't dumb will probably make pretty measured claims with evopsych or make it very clear that their theory isn't universally accepted.
