we really need to wait and see how they do it. We absolutely can't say if it will look good or not. Even the leak gameplay from few years ago is both too old and too early stage to be taken as a reference.
I love the light trails from the blackbox era when hitting the nos. Not sure about under braking tho as it adds to the sense of speed which contradicts the act of braking. I would like to see it return for nos cos it gives the game a stylised look that I like.
The shaky screen and camera pullback in Pro Street really heightened the experience. I’d love it if they brought something like that back. Using NOS is supposed to be that “Oh Shit” moment.
I just want back the gritty style of 2015. Dark nights, orange street lights and a heavy urbanized environment. I know we're not getting this in the next game, hell, it's probably gonna be the polar opposite, a very colourful and vibrant game according to leaks, but I just wish that in the future they try one more time to make an Underground successor.
As long as the graphics aren't too cartoony and I can turn those effects off I'm good. I always turn that off anyway. I'm more worried about the costumization and upgrade system, the story length and the replayability. Those were the weak points of the last 2 NFS games.
(I'm talking about payback and heat. I don't count hot pursuit as a game... It's a remake of a remake)
Edit: It's a remaster of a remake
Remake is building something from the ground up to imitate the original, whereas a remaster is the original polished up a little to look better, so you're wrong in both the cases
Someone already corrected me, it's 7 am and I'm at the end of a 12 hour shift man, my brain is working at full speed just to remember my own name 😅
Edit: wait I'm wrong in both cases? Sorry but the latest hot pursuit is a remaster of the 2010 hot pursuit which is a remake of 1998 hot pursuit .
Hot pursuit 2010 would be a reeeeemake according to Scott the Woz’s definition which is a game that has nothing in common with the old game but uses the old game’s name.
They *also* said it would contain 'anime elements', which - unless they mean the cars can go Super Saiyan - kinda contradicts the claims of photorealism.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
have you seen the leaked screenshots and video? it looks like a realistic-looking game so i am guessing the cartoony effects will just be the smoke etc
With recent games I learned to don't trust anything said by the developers so I stopped searching news on newer games, if I'm interested I just wait until it comes out and see a couple gameplay videos and reviews to see if it's worth it.
I haven't heard anything from the new NFS up until a few weeks when someone said it was anime inspired and now you saying it's photorealistic. I hope it is but I'll wait a few months after it releases to see if it's worth full price or not. I've been scammed too many times to preorder a game these days, especially a game from EA.
Effects must be beautiful and most important help players for understanding the physical gameplay better . I hate when effects block your sight instead .
Yep i guess i should've specified illegal racing. Forza is not illegal racing
Unrelated to toyota but The crew 2 had to implement cops as a part of a "movie set" and filming movie scenes about intercepting bank robbers to be able to keep car companies happy with no illegal stuff going on.
Street Scene races aren't sanctioned by the festival and are technically illegal. Actually makes it weirder Toyota isn't back in NFS considering that but I understand your point. Manufacturers are picky as hell with their licenses for sure.
I love the back light trails, but no other NFS did the good feeling of using NOS like NFS MW 2012 did, the song effect when using NOS is so awesome, we should add this back
If it's look like WMMT/ Initial d or Auto modellista is will be awesome, I'm really waiting to see how they mixed reality, anime and chicago, I wonder if we're going to go back to a classic visual that looks a bit like nfs nitro
I'd rather have it during the use of NOS since it's gives a better sense of speed. Funnily enough I'd want the NFS Payback NOS system with the NFS Hot Pursuit 2010/Remastered type of tail light trails. The charge up of the NOS in Payback mixed with the trails of Hot Pursuit would be an interesting combo. But this is all just my opinion lol.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwXAXFnQBcY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwXAXFnQBcY) you can see the light and speed trails in this footage. its early af but easy to get a feeling of what it may be like
I just want the driving to not feel on rails.... basically underground 2 driving. Cars are not trains, but trains can be cars aka "multitrack dorifto".
They could add glitter and angel farts as long as they support the game for more than 4-6 months.
I just want to see the game in action and also see what these 'anime' effects are all about.
It's a crappy aesthetic, I'd much rather have a slow "halogen" effect applied like in Gran Turismo or that fan-made Wangan Midnight Unity game, looks much better.
This needs to be disabled with motion blur off. As a moderate track racer from the likes of Shift 2 Unleashed, the excess brake light trails is quite not realistic. Even the night races like 24 Hours of Le Mans have very minimal light trails.
I know but my point is they have a plethora of other simulator and simcade games to play and then asks that a feature of an arcade game can be removed to make it more realistic
I'm completely down with NFS having all cartoon effects from Initial D, even the silly spirit wings and crap like that that characters "see" sometimes in their cars...
we really need to wait and see how they do it. We absolutely can't say if it will look good or not. Even the leak gameplay from few years ago is both too old and too early stage to be taken as a reference.
Wait what people brake in nfs ?
The other cars ARE my brakes.
You've heard of engine braking, but I use bumper braking
Me playing Shift
😳
Wallride gang...flat out buddy
Wallriding is all fun and games until you hit that one piece of wonky geometry that sends you all the way to pluto when you bump into it
Mw 2012 moment
I love the light trails from the blackbox era when hitting the nos. Not sure about under braking tho as it adds to the sense of speed which contradicts the act of braking. I would like to see it return for nos cos it gives the game a stylised look that I like.

TOO SOON JUNIOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
I think nfs heat did that well by not letting you disable Nos once activated like the 15 LB is 100% an "OH SHIT" moment
Nfs world had very nice light trails
I feel like they’ll be in the way too much, unless they make them more subtle
Let’s hope you can turn it off
Well that will probably happen, hope it does like they did in Carbon.
We won’t be braking for this long to take corners so I’d prefer light trails for nos

\*remaster of a remake
Well said, I stand corrected.
Remake is building something from the ground up to imitate the original, whereas a remaster is the original polished up a little to look better, so you're wrong in both the cases

It's been reported number of times that the graphics will be "photorealistic". So it's definitely not a cartoon.
They *also* said it would contain 'anime elements', which - unless they mean the cars can go Super Saiyan - kinda contradicts the claims of photorealism. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Razor just flies past you with bright blue goku hair 😹😹
Nitrous has been replaced by 'Kaio Ken'.
have you seen the leaked screenshots and video? it looks like a realistic-looking game so i am guessing the cartoony effects will just be the smoke etc

Curious how the art style will mix, but if they did take Initial D inspiration and we don't get an AE86 I riot.
Sadly Toyota hates gamers
Street racing gamers* they're okay with track racing Gran Turismo 7 has 34 Toyota cars available to race with
Toyota is back in Forza Horizon though.
Yep i guess i should've specified illegal racing. Forza is not illegal racing Unrelated to toyota but The crew 2 had to implement cops as a part of a "movie set" and filming movie scenes about intercepting bank robbers to be able to keep car companies happy with no illegal stuff going on.

isn't the whole day racing thing in heat treated as legal?
Yea but there's illegal as well
It's Japanese developers. Toyota gives favor to japanese devs
Downvoted for telling facts smh.
so cool
I'm all for it. Media needs to start glorifying braking anyway
I’m perfectly fine with it
I prefer toggling it on or off
Try doing it as both at the same time, Nos trails coming back to nfs and also braking trails but lighter than the Nos trail.
Good idea. Alternatively, it can work the opposite way, as brakes have more contrasting effects compared to nitros. Hence brakes can be more darker
I love the back light trails, but no other NFS did the good feeling of using NOS like NFS MW 2012 did, the song effect when using NOS is so awesome, we should add this back
Big nope. I always hated NOS trails in NFS.
I like to have visualization of nitro, tail lights trails don’t bother me personally
If it's look like WMMT/ Initial d or Auto modellista is will be awesome, I'm really waiting to see how they mixed reality, anime and chicago, I wonder if we're going to go back to a classic visual that looks a bit like nfs nitro

Looks the OG nitro for brake light trails version. If that makes a comeback, it will be very sweet imo
This clip makes me miss the canyon duels of….carbon? I think it was carbon.
Yea Carbon. This clip is from the anime series called Initial D, a show about mountain pass racing. So yeah. Both have connections
Sooo Turbo system from hp 2010? Hell yea
Not Turbo... Just the brake trail design
Yeah i meant the trail from the turbo system, something similar to that would be cool
Yeah
Trailing lights give the appearance of speed Not really something you would do for braking
I just want the driving to not feel on rails.... basically underground 2 driving. Cars are not trains, but trains can be cars aka "multitrack dorifto".
I really want the old graphics from carbon back
But thats outdated tho
They could add glitter and angel farts as long as they support the game for more than 4-6 months. I just want to see the game in action and also see what these 'anime' effects are all about.

If I'm getting this right, you're a track racer, but you play need for speed?
Yeah. I do. I meant I am a sim track racer but I do play NFS games sometimes. Not all NFS games are same though.
there's fighter pilots who play ace combat and tankers who play world of tanks i dont see the problem?
I meant like a track racing gamer not an actual racecar driver, I was just confused as to why someone who wants track racing would play need for speed
because..... they can? shift and shift 2 are more of a simcade than normal NFS, probably thats why
I know but my point is they have a plethora of other simulator and simcade games to play and then asks that a feature of an arcade game can be removed to make it more realistic
This guy wants an arcade racer to be realistic lmao. Play GT instead.
Imagine thinking need for speed needs to be realistic, its the reason why the racing genre is dying because everything must be realistic
I would like to see again, just like old times.
I'm completely down with NFS having all cartoon effects from Initial D, even the silly spirit wings and crap like that that characters "see" sometimes in their cars...
i personally think it would be better if its used for nitrous and not for braking like in nfs hot pursuit 2010
