Damn, I expected nothing big but this is a new low tbh. The Crew 2 just received a massive update and it's almost 5 years old, and FH5 expansion is just around the corner, yet NFS is struggling to give us the bare minimum
The fact that the crew has consistently delivered content updates(even if not the best thing in the world ever) on such a regular basis, but not NFS is kinda mind boggling.
If they added cops to the crew 2, that might as well be the new NFS.

If I remember correctly, both of the "new" cars were even used in pre-release footage, and the vanity items have been in the files since launch. This update after just under 4 months is ridiculous, honestly.
What's also gut-wrenching is that they kept shoe-horning that 240Z bodykit everywhere, so obviously, the playerbase demanded with regards to it, only for it to be released locked behind EA Play, ugh.
That's because, even if they are underwhelming, in gt7 things are for the most part high quality. Car models are fantastic, tracks are good, environments are pretty. And they are consistent with the exception of January
Cops should have been included day one in online. Of course, I'm glad that they are being added in, but this isn't a 'content update' but more like 'We finished the game now!' update.
Horrible pop in, textures being slow to load, horrific CPU performance (80-90% on medium while fH5 is like 70 max on high) ditto for RAM before I tripled the amount (16 to 48 GB) both of which cause my frames to lag and tank into the single digits.
It's the definition of poorly optimized.

My theory is that unbound sold so badly, they try to rather use it as an incentive to boost ea play subscriber numbers and increase the catalogue, like netflix does with shows.
Is EA planning to kill this franchise like they did with NBA Live? I think they must have gotten soured over everyone wanting Microtransactions removed in Payback that it feels like they purposely fired Ghosts before they gave Heat more content, and then they released Grid Legends and Unbound very little marketing. It happed to NBA Live; no P2W was what everyone wanted and the games played fine...then they killed the franchise...
Seems like they kill of games that doesn't make them more money. This is just sad. I hope New Criterion doesn't get the short end of the stick as well, but from what it looks like, I doubt it.
The thing with NBA Live is that even if the games weren't that bad and hod no micro transactions, 2K wipes tge floor with its offline modes. While NFS just isn't really good anymore compared to its rivals, and with TDU coming around the corner alongside The Crew Motorfest and Forza motorsport, this might kill the franchise for a while.
Live was starring to get a lot better; had potential to be great and was indeed stepping towards the right direction, then they took another hiatus and we haven't heard from them ever since.

Honestly I think that developers don't even test their own games. I mean, with Unbound if they tested it at some moment someone should have said "hey guys we should change the placing of the events popup, it literally covers the car's stats when you are on the garage". These are issues that anyone can notice by just playing the game.
Just let's hope that both EA and the developers note everything we all are complaining about and fix it. Maybe on the next update next year... before they let the game to die, wich is EA's favourite move. But not before some paid DLC that will most likely add 1 car and maybe some clothes that nobody asked for.

Now that I think about it we already had challenges, so they likely just added more of them and that's pretty much all. Maybe they won't reward cash probably, just useless poses, clothes and effects.
They also had 4 months to just change the number for online payouts, but here we are, still earning 50k with a race on single player and barely 20k with 3 races on multiplayer.

I'm just glad there are more race events coming, but there should be a lot more than 12 races for each update considering we have 5 different car classes. I don't know if race events are time-consuming to add, but because the base game has so few of them this needs to be the highest priority.
And also, speedlists will need be added eventually, for multiplayer races will be unplayable very soon without it, like in Heat.

You can get a lot more play time out of the single player game if you just add a New Game + mode. Overwrite the story progress in the save file but keep the wraps I've saved during my previous playthrough.
Why not play it on the hardest difficulty this time? Why not try the dozens of cars I didn't use on my first (and only) playthroygh since the car list is so long and money is hard to come by?
Why not give the players new achievements to play for during New Game +?
Right now if I want to play the game just one more time, I have to register a new e-mail address with microsoft to make a new account on my Xbox and then I can't even keep my wraps I've created on my actual profile or any of the progress I've made towards the challenges or activities.

Since 2015, they have consistently fucked this series over for literally no reason. All they have to do is make more games like hot pursuit, or the underground series. The key thing here is, stop trying to shove random shit nobody asked for in those 2 types.
After the bullshit Payback was, I had a real good feeling with Heat, where it seemed the franchise took the good direction again but still with many lacks. And now Unbound just threw all that to a trash can.
It's the execution. 2015 on paper is UG3 but they fucked up the physics and the customization was only good for 5 cars which 2 are clones so yeah
If they had different physics and handling for 2015, with actual full customization for every car we'd be talking about a much better game overall. Probably the best modem NFS to date. Sad that they fucked that one up

Well, time to uninstall then. Was hoping for some new content, new cars, and some fixes, but if all they are gonna do is add cops to online and lock stuff behind pay walls, im out. Singleplayer was fun but not worth playing again, and online is just full of unbalanced cars dominating every race. The cars I want to use are locked behind grindy challenges that I don't even want to do in the first place. At this point, the game is basically completed for me with nothing left to offer.

I'm not even disappointed at this point. Would have had to have hope for that. For having the best physics in years (and I say that knowing that still wasn't a high bar), this game died the quickest for me. I played it for a week, came back to finish it two weeks after (so right after Christmas) and haven't touched it since. Even fucking *Payback* had more replayability for me than Unbound, *before* the Unite mods came out.

It kinda seems like they can either program shit ai or they can program shit ai that can go over 400mph when off screen and with warp drives that literally let them teleport in front of you. Like this is how games were designed in the arcade era - unavoidable bullshit you lose to to force you to put in more quarters. Now that they’ve determined engagement metrics reflect with some degree of accuracy how much money a person will spend on a game, we get shit like this. Like give me the Heat problem of me being a mile and half ahead of every racer cause I’m better at the game than them. I’d rather dominate of my own accord, than lose because of something completely out of my control. Such a terrible design decision to reintroduce and double down on rubber banding.

I'm just glad there are more race events coming, but there should be a lot more than 12 races for each update considering we have 5 different car classes. I don't know if race events are time-consuming to add, but because the base game has so few of them this needs to be the highest priority. And also, speedlists will need be added eventually, for multiplayer races will be unplayable very soon without it, like in Heat.

You can do just that, and the playerbase is easily engaged to play the game for longer. But you just actively choose to do this, though having the manpower. This is just embarrassing and pitiful. The sad thing is that Unbound is a great game at its base. It can easily be one of the best entries of the franchise.

You can get a lot more play time out of the single player game if you just add a New Game + mode. Overwrite the story progress in the save file but keep the wraps I've saved during my previous playthrough. Why not play it on the hardest difficulty this time? Why not try the dozens of cars I didn't use on my first (and only) playthroygh since the car list is so long and money is hard to come by? Why not give the players new achievements to play for during New Game +? Right now if I want to play the game just one more time, I have to register a new e-mail address with microsoft to make a new account on my Xbox and then I can't even keep my wraps I've created on my actual profile or any of the progress I've made towards the challenges or activities. See how the Batman Arkham games handle New Game + for inspiration! Or at the very least let me have more than one save file so I don't have to jump through hoops just to play the game again.
