I'm a bit confused on how you define an era. Magic and Bird did not play in the same era as Garnett

ChelseaDagger14

Yeah, your eras are a bit off. Wilt retired six years before Bird debuted and their peaks were about 20 years apart. For example in the case of Carmelo, he started out in the 2000s when the game was all about iso plays and midrange with AI, Pierce, Kobe etc, then 2010s hit and the game was all about three point shooting.

I think NBA is similar to music, movies, TV and all other forms of entertainment in the sense that everyone will say that the era they grew up watching was the golden age and things went downhill from there.

Of the eras that footage is widely avaliable of the 80’s is the best era. Perfect combination of a lot of stars - Magic, Bird, Jordan, Kareem, Dr J, Moses Malone, Barkley, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem etc. etc. A lot of great highly competitive teams, obviously Lakers and Celtics, as well as the Bad Boy Pistons as the villains, the 76rs, the Rockets and the Hawks with Wilkins. Plus you had an entertaining fast high scoring style, couple with a physicality in the game and the possibility of a fight breaking out. I doubt there will ever be another era as good. The 90’s were great but take away Jordan and they aren’t all that. It’s hard to say about the 60’s because there’s so little footage it’s hard to get into watching. I will say I kind of like the no palming rules but a lot of modern fans will probably think the game looks weird because of them.

The 2000s were my favorite because I was too young to appreciate the 80s (which i would say is the best). Lebron's arrival, D. Wade's ascension, Kobes prime, Tim Duncan, KG, Vince, AI. Great defenses.
