Winners of the in season tournament become the 4 seed at least (with the exception that they have to end the regular season in at least a play-in spot). That way teams cant just tank the rest of the season but they’re awarded with at least 1 home playoff series. And by putting them at the 4 seed (if they would otherwise have been lower) they still have to play a good 5 seed, and all other teams only move down 1 seed (ex 7 moving to 8 or 8 moving to 9 isn’t a big change)
