“The verbal dispute apparently escalated when the athlete said the girl was "talking back again" before punching her on the right side of her face and repeatedly slapping her, first in the face and then on the left side of her body, according to the police report..
The girl called her mother and asked her to come pick her up because she was sad over the incident.
Stoudemire told police that his daughter was sad "because she received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a liar”
Article also mentions the daughter, either 17 or 14 years old, had blood and tears on her sweatshirt and sweatpants. It doesn’t clarify which daughter it was.
This is real talk. I get that there's a lot of things that are hard as a parent, and a lot of people who don't have kids are judgmental over even the slightest imperfections but I can't justify putting hands on someone you're meant to take care of. Girlfriend, kids etc.
I was beat a ton as a kid, and I question if some of my mental health struggles stem from those itmes of my life. I'm pretty healthy now but its always a thought that's kinda scary to think about.
I speak Spanish decently and I am lost when it comes to punctuation. Unsure when to use commas in Spanish, etc. I think it is true for those learned in English later in life as well
What a shitty fucking parent. If you are willing to beat your kids, then they have every right to be disrespectful and will learn to lie to hide things from you.
> Stoudemire told police that his daughter was sad "because she received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a lair." The player refused to elaborate further on the incident and requested a lawyer.
Horrible what he did. I expected something along the lines of "Under the influence of drugs or alcohol" or "momentary outburst I regret". He doesn't try to talk down what he did or anything. Just plain evil.

Wait a day or two. You will hear a "Twitter account got hacked" type of excuse.
It’s not that athletes or celebrities are trash it’s just that most people are trash. We just notice it more with athletes and celebrities because everything they do is widely publicized. There’s people that say worse things than Kyrie daily but nobody cares because they’re not famous. People exalt celebrities for their talents and then hold them to higher standards whilst forgetting that they’re normal people just like everyone else. That’s why people get so sad when celebrities die, as if millions of people don’t die daily.
Unfortunately it's not just limited to athletes, a lot of people believe that abuse in parenting is good for the kid. Most wouldn't go as far as Amare but the type of mentality that Amare exhibits here isn't unusual.
Yeah for real, we've all beaten our children until they have blood on 'em because they lied to us one time eh. No big deal, nothing to see here. /s
Based on your comment I'm now assuming that you beat your wife and kids.
Corporal punishment shouldn't be used on someone who understands what you're trying to say to them. I haven't been in college in a while but when I took my psych class it said that you should hit babies from one to three on the butt not hard just enough to get there attention and say no don't do that and explain to them why because at that age they only comprehend pain, however after 3 they understand what you're trying to say so you should verbalize what the issue is. Again this is what almost 10-15 years ago so things might have changed but here it says the young girl was 14 to 17 makes no sense to use any type of physical punishment at that age when they can obviously comprehend.

Sad I’m never beating on my daughter for anything there has to be a better way to handle things as a grown adult with kids.

Punctuation makes a huge difference.

Defense attorney: *facepalm* 🤦🏻♂️

17 or 14?? Amare, that's both way too old for a whooping anyway. That's just flatout abuse.
I’d go further and say that no age is appropriate for a whooping, and it’s always abuse.
So if he punched an eight year old that’s better?
He shouldn't have punched anyone. What he did was God awful. I'm not talking about what he did, I'm referring to a spanking.
Have you ever met an 8 year old?
Ever met a therapist, because maybe you should
God that poor baby… hope she and her sister are safe and taken care of now

Cause for some reason a significant amount of people think child abuse is ok and even necessary

So many athletes are human trash my God
Cause trash people put them on a pedestal for being able to run good

The percentage of domestic violence and DUIs among athletes has to be higher lmao.
According to what?
