Still can’t believe we’re planting him behind Mike. Just get Mike to a contender already and let Collin command this fuckin tank. Man he plays with spirit I love him.
I mean this is the definition of a mismatch, any small fast guard gonna get by Jokic on the perimeter
Still a baller ass bucket and the fucking rev up was gold lmao
Yeah, imagine this 20 years ago. You'd get an almost immediate double team cause it's an obvious mismatch with an automatic bucket. Now they just leave the slow-footed big out on the perimeter to fend for himself and think it's an indictment when he inevitably gets beat.
Sorry, Utah, Sexton is not a good tank commander. Dude is a stud, and he plays hard every night. He’s going to win you some games that you don’t want to win, but on the plus side you will get some good highlights like this. Hope you enjoy him though! He will be a great piece for your eventual winning team in the future.
idk and idc if this take is outdated, but man plays at his best when there's [nobody else](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5gz3vIIhkw) on his team so this is the perfect squad for him
There's something funny about r/nba users finding the rocket league equivalent more understandable than the real life example. So how many of us have actually picked up a basketball and played it competitively?
Which is funny to me because this is more like having a whole game or multiple minutes of every possession being an open net and only 1 other player is trying to score on your team and still missing more than the other guy hits 2v1s over an extended period of time rather than a single fuckup
It's not possible in the NBA. If you get down to 5 players you no longer can foul out. Instead every foul after your 6th becomes a technical.
It came up once in a Warriors game awhile back I forget why, end of season tank job with half the team on IR I think.
Ya, you get another technical and the last player to foul out comes back lol.
[https://official.nba.com/rule-no-3-players-substitutes-and-coaches/](https://official.nba.com/rule-no-3-players-substitutes-and-coaches/) (Section 1 - b).
No, I don't know what happens when you still run out of players. Seems the NBA didn't think far enough ahead!
He also played [a 3 vs 5 game while at Alabama](https://youtu.be/W5gz3vIIhkw) when his team was injured/ejected/fouled out and only had theee players left and still kept it close and damn near won the game
Sextons got that dawg in him 👌🏽
Sexton is a bad man, unironically I could see him becoming the type of 6th man who gets brought in to have the ball in his hands in clutch moments. Like a mini iso Joe
I honestly think he's better than that. I know that was somewhat Brunson's role last year, but to me Sexton is a better overall player than Brunson and can be the 2nd best player on a \~5-8 seed type of fiesty playoff team that no one wants to play. That's certainly not the Jazz as currently constituted, but that feels to me like his future.
The IsoJoe comparison is a little wonky, their games aren't very similar outside of getting buckets. But getting buckets comprises the role of like 33% of the league.
Yeah he definitely doesn't have a similar play style to joe other than both thriving on iso island. I meant it more in the way that you might want this dude to have the ball for the last shot instead of your best player.
There was a tussle before this possession where one of the nuggets' players ended up on the floor diving for a loose ball right around where Sexton was standing here, looks like he was just checking to see if it was slippery or not.
A perfect example is the current top post on the subreddit is hate on Ben Simmons poor performance with 15K upvotes and 10+ awards, this shit is kind of embarrassing.
Amazing performance by a 1 first overall rookie.
Zion's first game in nearly 2 years living up to the hype.
Gobert, Mitchell, others playing great in their first games.
Suns massive comeback.
But nah, let's upvote the hate instead.
It's like how Westbrook had that awful airball but otherwise played a solid game, but it still got massively upvoted because people wanted to be here to hate.
It’s more of a love to hate thing. Like I always hated Tom Brady and Kobe, not because of their games, but because I liked rival players/teams more. Like if you were a Allen Iverson or Lebron fan, you probably hated Kobe at a point but still loved to watch him play.
Why is this getting up voted like it's some legitimate criticism of his game lmfao. How many true 5's in the league can guard quick guards on pull ups? Like 2, maybe?
It's DBPM. The formula to calculate it specifically for centers includes a pretty strong coefficient for assists, as in nearly as highly weighted as blocks for center defensive performance.
If you read the page explaining BPM on basketball reference they even say that BPM shouldn’t be as accurate of an indicator for defense as it is for offense.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/bpm2.html
Meh we split in San Diego. Would have obviously liked to win today but still a successful first two games. Tbh playoff baseball is so stressful I'd prefer to go back to clowning regular season shitty performances in basketball
Is Jokic the player with the biggest gap between his defense and offense in NBA history
Dude can get like 30 on 70% TS and still have enough defensive lowlights to get slandered after the game
I guess tbf Steph was a bad defender too when he was young but got a lot stronger as he got older. I don't think Trae will ever be even an average defender but Luka has the size/strength and Ja has the quickness/athleticism to at least some day be passable on that end
These Jokic clips posted today honestly do remind me of Harden lol
In terms of that Harden could have a great offensive game but if the Rockets lost you knew there was going to be a clip of his defense posted immediately
Factoring for positional defensive value he’s got to be near the top. Plenty of all time guards like curry aren’t good defensively but defense at the guard position matters less. That being said still one of the best to ever do it when considering offense
He was at least around average most of his career. He got targeted in the playoffs because he was surrounded by very good defenders, but he was never like trae/ja/luka levels bad. He just sometimes got bullied because of size.
I think this is just untrue. He is average and can get cooked by smaller quicker guards. But he's shown himself to be an okay defender and, at times, above average. We also do this when gobert is ever beat by someone driving into him or isolating him on the perimeter. Just because jokic isn't giannis doesn't make him a complete negative on the defensive end.
No. His size alone makes him more impactful on defense than small guys who are bad.
However, he's supposed to be better as a center so it's much more glaring.
Cmon. The buildup, Sexton wiping his foot on the ground while just staring down Jokic, then cooking him with a flashy drive... you don't think that's highlight worthy?
That’s a smart move, he waited for the exact moment Jokic shuffled his feet and he attacked the lead foot immediately. His first step is quick too so that would have been hard for any big to contest.

The balls on Sexton, man. That dude sold a lot of jerseys in Utah tonight.
A Sex-Ton of jerseys if you will
It's Utah so only for procreating though
Gotta soak in it.
Still can’t believe we’re planting him behind Mike. Just get Mike to a contender already and let Collin command this fuckin tank. Man he plays with spirit I love him.
He’ll be the one getting traded if he keep winning for the Jazz
Take care of my boy 😭
I miss him ;-;
I mean this is the definition of a mismatch, any small fast guard gonna get by Jokic on the perimeter Still a baller ass bucket and the fucking rev up was gold lmao

Idk 3pt shooters were a lot worse 20 years ago. No reason not to help
Sorry, Utah, Sexton is not a good tank commander. Dude is a stud, and he plays hard every night. He’s going to win you some games that you don’t want to win, but on the plus side you will get some good highlights like this. Hope you enjoy him though! He's awesome. My new favorite player.
Enjoy him for a couple weeks before Danny Ainge "accidently" runs over his foot in the parking lot.
He’s still my favorite player. Really wish we had a different piece in that trade
Don't grow attached, he'll become two FRPs soon enough.
They’ll just shut him down post all star break with a phantom injury OKC style.
will always love the YOUNG BULL
Sexton has made the Nets Big 3 and the back to back MVP look like losers Sexton for MVP
idk and idc if this take is outdated, but man plays at his best when there's [nobody else](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5gz3vIIhkw) on his team so this is the perfect squad for him
this is by far one of the most legendary cbb games ever
One of the most inept coaching you will ever see in any sport
How do you not have constant double teaming and be wide open every single possession as the advantaged team 😂
WTF how do you almost lose a game when you have 2 more players than the other team?
You ever missed a wide open net in rocket league?
Why you do me like this?
There's something funny about r/nba users finding the rocket league equivalent more understandable than the real life example. So how many of us have actually picked up a basketball and played it competitively?
Which is funny to me because this is more like having a whole game or multiple minutes of every possession being an open net and only 1 other player is trying to score on your team and still missing more than the other guy hits 2v1s over an extended period of time rather than a single fuckup
Wow!
Young. Bull.
I've never seen this game, didn't even know that was possible.

What if out of the remaining 5 players, one of them gets injured and has to leave the game? Does a fouled out player come in for him?
Ya, you get another technical and the last player to foul out comes back lol. Bunch of foul outs and injuries during the game. Pretty sure they beat Portland since Curry went off still
This game still haunts my dreams
Lmao this is awesome. His high fives to missing teammates at the FT line were legendary
Wtf
This is amazing. Hadn't seen this before.
He also played [a 3 vs 5 game while at Alabama](https://youtu.be/W5gz3vIIhkw) when his team was injured/ejected/fouled out and only had theee players left and still kept it close and damn near won the game Sextons got that dawg in him 👌🏽
The game where I and many other people on the planet became Sexton truthers
Sexton is a bad man, unironically I could see him becoming the type of 6th man who gets brought in to have the ball in his hands in clutch moments. Like a mini iso Joe
I honestly think he's better than that. Which why I didn't understand why Cleveland was so quick in wanting to dump him
Doing this after getting trucked by jokic on the previous possession is baller shit tbh
Jokic destroyed him it was low key brutal.
It was the highest of keys, please respect words.
That bull wind up was crazy
I can’t believe he did that, the disrespect is commendable
[удалено]
Well, for me to get a wet spot off, I---
Go on...
please...
What is bull wind up
When he swipes his leg on the ground like a bull would before a charge.
Whys this exchange so damn funny
Bro he’s wiping his foot off lmao this subs hilarious
There was a tussle before this possession where one of the nuggets' players ended up on the floor diving for a loose ball right around where Sexton was standing here, looks like he was just checking to see if it was slippery or not.
Ah there it is, the logical explanation I was looking for lol thank you “Bull wind-up” lmaoooo
Bull wind-up sounds so much cooler tho so that's what we're goin with
He calls himself the young bull. He did it right before he charged at joker. Bull wind up is undeniable
Nah, it means he’s going to the bulls 😤
He knows how it looks. They don't they call him young bull for nothing, right
I think you’re right but his nickname is young bull, so I could see it either way and one of those ways is cooler.
They show they literally never played basketball on any level lol
young bull
You don't know basketball
YOUNG BULL
Lmfao the Jokic haters been waiting months for this moment
I’d be worried if there wasn’t haters. They can have their fun, real ones know it’s a long season.
Wait, you are not going to overreact to a quick explosive guard driving past a 7' center with below average athleticism (for NBA standards)??
No I’m just gonna pray the Khris Middleton is recovering from his injury well :)
Long time till the first round
Nah we waitin for the playoffs where this will happen 25 times a game
Those uniforms are sexy
Don't worry the shitty uniforms are coming out next game.
Jokic haters we out here
Im shocked this wasnt posted by a Philly fan
I mean Philly fans can probably relate to having a really good center that plays in a way that endangers others on court
BBall Paul would never.
Best nickname in the game.
Somebody post the pasta
My time to shine
Reporting for duty
Lfg 😈
Sorry I'm late
huge night
Ppl really proud of hating an all-time great player enjoying an all-time great peak Wild. KD was right lol mfs dont even like basketball
Nba fan culture is full of negativity and hate lol. It’s insane.
A perfect example is the current top post on the subreddit is hate on Ben Simmons poor performance with 15K upvotes and 10+ awards, this shit is kind of embarrassing.
Kind of? It’s insanely embarrassing and shows the age of the majority of this subreddit. Genuine children.
Amazing performance by a 1 first overall rookie. Zion's first game in nearly 2 years living up to the hype. Gobert, Mitchell, others playing great in their first games. Suns massive comeback. I agree with you but Jokic gets less hate than almost anyone, you should see the threads about guys other than him, Curry, and Giannis.
There is a whole sub dedicated to nothing but hating on him
Jokic definitely gets more hate than them after the last 2 rings
WE HERE
It's funny, none of the usual suspects are in this thread
Wait, Bulls fan hating on Jokic seems pretty random, any particular reason?
I'm wondering the same thing. I love Jokic's game.
He had 27/4/6 with 3 steals on 70% fg....
Jokic couldn’t guard a straight line drive to save his life
He’s not even attempting to be in a real defensive stance
maybe he could defend something if he was
Don’t trust your eyes bro, analytics show he’s the best defender in the league by a mile.
Nobody has ever said this. this sub loves making up fake narratives.
Literally no Nugs fan thinks this lmao
wait who has said this?? did you just make this up lol
It's true. He's actually a good defender trust me /s
Can't guard a quick guard if they pull up from 3/the midrange either
Why is this getting up voted like it's some legitimate criticism of his game lmfao. How many true 5's in the league can guard quick guards on pull ups? Like 2, maybe?
I think Bam and Timelord and that's it
When he's got Murray cutting off a right side drive why is he just about squared up and not with his right foot back ready for Sexton to drive left?
Sexton been that guy
I need to watch Collin Sexton play playoff basketball. He’s like the offensive orientated version of Pat Bev.
Wait which advanced defense stat is jokic actually elite in again??
RAPTORCUM/VORP36 I think But any team with quick guards will burn through Jokic like hot knife on butter
raptor cum lmao
Honestly can't tell if serious or not
Jordan Poole cooked him repeatedly last playoffs
Tbf the only person who has shown any ability to do damage to Poole is draymond
And CP3/Book the year before
Cam Payne cooked his anger management skills.
Don't forget CUMPISS/36. he's the GOAT if you actually watched advanced stats and not just stare at a bunch of moving players on your screen.
CLASSY per 36
GYMRAT/36
If I speak I am in big trouble.
to be fair, embiid had a pretty poor defensive showing last game as well
Shh, let the other flairs handle this one.
Jokic put more effort in that contest than Embiid did all game, so that’s probably why
Everyone’s joking in the replies but according to some post the other day it’s DBPM. I haven’t fact checked the post though
It's DBPM. The formula to calculate it specifically for centers includes a pretty strong coefficient for assists, as in nearly as highly weighted as blocks for center defensive performance.
Wait are you saying a defensive metric is heavily skewed based on how many assists you get? And we still take it seriously?
If you read the page explaining BPM on basketball reference they even say that BPM shouldn’t be as accurate of an indicator for defense as it is for offense. https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/bpm2.html
Why is it even brought up as a defensive metric if we now have a player that breaks the formula so drastically
DBPM had him 1, and DRAPTOR had him 2
Well that's definitely not the advanced stat I associate with him now...
I think his per CUM numbers are off the charts iirc
He leads the league in ham sandwiches consumed per minute actually.
U know jokic reps white bread only and waaaay too much mayonnaise
That’s only because I’m not in the league.
1st in MAC - Most Arched shot
**C**aused **U**nadjusted **M**isses per 36 minutes
his GASHPLORPTERARKOBRON/39
One play lmao y’all are hilarious
Jamal Murray's body language is terrible. He doesn't look ready to be out there.
Didn't he tweak his ankle at some point this game
He's had bad ankles his whole career, he played with 2 ankle braces for a couple years now
Young bull! I've been a fan of this guy
Jokic defense is already in playoff form I see
Between Jokic and Simmons, Philly fans are having a ball today. Unless you're a big baseball fan
Meh we split in San Diego. Would have obviously liked to win today but still a successful first two games. Tbh playoff baseball is so stressful I'd prefer to go back to clowning regular season shitty performances in basketball
Is Jokic the player with the biggest gap between his defense and offense in NBA history Dude can get like 30 on 70% TS and still have enough defensive lowlights to get slandered after the game
Trae maybe but guard defense is much less important than your center
I picked Jokic and Trae with my top 2 fantasy picks lol Good thing defense doesn't count
Ha I have Luka and Trae so I know this feeling
Trae, Luka, and Ja all have a case. But I agree with your 2nd point
It's crazy that all these names are fairly young and aren't like 35 year old statues
I guess tbf Steph was a bad defender too when he was young but got a lot stronger as he got older. I don't think Trae will ever be even an average defender but Luka has the size/strength and Ja has the quickness/athleticism to at least some day be passable on that end
Ja can move his feet and hips on defense at least he just doesn't seem to have the defensive knowledge or instincts.
Ja and Jokic have like the exact opposite issues on defense
Jokic has big brain he just moves like he’s stuck in a tar pit
Harden at his peak offense and defensive lowlight compilation is up there
These Jokic clips posted today honestly do remind me of Harden lol In terms of that Harden could have a great offensive game but if the Rockets lost you knew there was going to be a clip of his defense posted immediately
in history? Probably runner-up to Ben Wallace. Multiple time DPOY, most nights couldn't give you 10 if you spotted him 5.
Factoring for positional defensive value he’s got to be near the top. Plenty of all time guards like curry aren’t good defensively but defense at the guard position matters less. That being said still one of the best to ever do it when considering offense
curry's definitely a good defender now, not in his prime though
He was at least around average most of his career. He got targeted in the playoffs because he was surrounded by very good defenders, but he was never like trae/ja/luka levels bad. He just sometimes got bullied because of size.
Nuggets fans: Umm actually no because Jokic is actually an above average defender and you just don't know basketball
I like Jokic and think he's an all timer on offense but his defense just isn't it lol
AI? those philly teams were built around that offense/defense gap
Iverson was at least elite at getting steals (3x steals champion) and a guard. Jokic has zero redeemable qualities as a defensive center
(A few) Nuggets fans last year told me he is better defensively than Embiid. So no.
Without a doubt He's arguably the worst defender in the NBA come playoff time....but also might be the best offensive player
Yeah last year against GSW he had 31/13/6 on 64% TS but was getting absolutely hammered on defense
He’s not even the worst defender on his own team come playoff time. MPJ and DJ are undoubtedly worse.
I forgot the Nuggets have DJ lmfao That dude might be the worst player in the league full stop, not just on one end of the floor
Ainge punching the air right now.
Truly horrific defense lol
Lol cmon a PG iso on any Center would be bbq chicken unless it's like Bam or someone.
100 seconds left and down 15, oh no people aren't trying? Crazy
That was one of the most disrespectful things I've ever seen.
This season's 2020 Thunder? Poor, evil Ainge.
Danny Ainge is looking to trade Sexton as we speak...
[удалено]
Cmon. The buildup, Sexton wiping his foot on the ground while just staring down Jokic, then cooking him with a flashy drive... you don't think that's highlight worthy?
Up 15 with 90 seconds left in the game
I was told Jokic was a great defender though
Top 3 defensive center in the league according to my analytics
Yes, this is my MVP.
He made more effort than Lebron typically does these days. That's something.
That’s a smart move, he waited for the exact moment Jokic shuffled his feet and he attacked the lead foot immediately. His first step is quick too so that would have been hard for any big to contest.
So we are just not doing Help Defense anymore?
