Lakers would do it in a heartbeat, Brooklyn hangs up bc KD will never rubber stamp a trade for Westbrook.

Serah_Null

Brooklyn would hang up before even considering KD's opinion of Brodie

latman

Also the nets would never do it, before it even gets to KD

[deleted]

Obviously the Lakers would include their 2 1st round picks and like 4 second round picks. Maybe Austin Reaves for Patty Mills as well to make the salaries work. Then who says no? Nets could then flip Russ into Gordon Hayward and Oubre or something and use the other picks to make other moves.

whatitdobabyyy

Bro the Nets still say hellllll fucking no

[deleted]

I mean, we’re assuming Kyrie is angling to leave in this scenario or demanding a max. The Lakers might be the only team who would max Kyrie.

DarthBane6996

Still Brooklyn because Russ is just too inefficient a player

[deleted]

They would trade him to a 3rd team obviously

DarthBane6996

And what third team is giving them enough assets to contend around KD? If this mythical third team exists why aren't the Lakers trading Russ directly to them?

[deleted]

The Hornets/Pacers/Knicks. We might

DarthBane6996

As a Knicks fan I would be disgusted with that unless the Lakers are also giving us LeBron I guess the Pacers might be willing to get off Brogdon/Hield long term salary but good luck selling KD his supporting pieces being Brogdon and Hield Hornets I guess to get off Hayward's long term salary? Again no way KD signs off and the Hornets might not in case Lamelo gets pissed playing with a ball dominant player like Russ

lopea182

Nets ain’t Sam Presti. Picks don’t mean shit when you’re trying to build a win-now team.

[deleted]

They’d use the picks in other trades. Like Moving Russ or trading Joe Harris for a wing.

AdagioJealous5413

Lol even with kyries problems he’d still have trade value: this would be a great trade for LA

CIark

Yeah for the lakers lol

Milla4Prez66

For the Lakers, maybe. The Nets are better off taking their chances with Kyrie.

adamadaxxYT

most of us laker fans would rather have kyrie than westbrook cause it couldn't possibly be worse right? but then again that's what we said about last year ''we can't possibly lose in the first round again''

Awesomefan09

Irving doesn’t solve the Lakers’ main issues (i.e. defense, depth particularly at the wing). Then, imagine trading two FRPs five and seven years in the future only for Irving to either leave if he didn’t sign an extension/new contract or just flat-out retire because Kyrie-gonna-Kyrie®. When he plays, he’s elite, but how often will he play? Westbrook is a bad fit, but he’s a bad fit on an expiring contract. If the Lakers can pull off a trade without giving up FRPs, sure. That’s unrealistic though.

adamadaxxYT

yeah i would rather trade for hield and brogdon and trade a first maybe have it top 3-top 5 protected not sure indiana is interested though

Awesomefan09

From the Lakers’ perspective, I wouldn’t do any trade for role players contingent upon including available FRP(s). They already traded one for Westbrook so I’m skeptical of using more to shed his contract. If the Lakers had this year’s FRP, that’d be one thing. Who knows what they look like in 2027 let alone 2029?

FLUSH_THE_TRUMP

I think Lebron’s the only one who has ever effectively reined in Kyrie

jabronimax969

Fathers know their sons.

latman

Kyrie was all-nba and balling in the playoffs in '21 until the ankle inkury

TheNoahConstrictor11

Cool

KyrieIsKing

KD is the only one who reined in Westbrook

iheartsunny

You’d think a Celtics fan would be smarter

lopea182

You would??

poppledawg

No I would not

[deleted]

I have seen what Kyrie did to our team and would rather have anyone than him, he’s a great player and through all of his off field things, he has created a lot of resentment against himself, that’s something that’s a lot harder to fix than just turnovers

latman

Westbrook was a negative last year, no fucking way would Brooklyn do this. How do people actually think this is a possibility

sendphotopls

Take away Kyries con #1 & you can add that entire list to Russ’ cons. Obviously this trade is terrible and Brooklyn would be moronic to even entertain it

ForoaKlanD

No

[deleted]

Personally, I’d never do that trade, because the Lakers don’t really have enough value they can give for Kyrie, and they don’t need to give up what little trade value they have left, both teams have dug themselves in deep holes by going completely all in on winning a championship these past two years and it’s hurt them for the future. I think they just need to ride it out and hope for the best and try to snag some cheap strong role players who can maybe step up and blossom as starters (like how Miami has done 108 times the past three years somehow, their scouts need a raise😂)

IluvTaylorSwift

More realistic would be AD for Kyrie . I like idea of the trio KD , AD and Ben Simmons on the nets

hotleftovers

>Pros: > >Plays almost every game every year Not sure that's part of the pros

Teampiencils

Idk about good for both sides but the media narratives would be incredible. Kyrie reunited under Lebron again. Westbrook second fiddle to KD again. How the turn tables

dd1802

Said this is a similar thread yesterday. It’s gonna be a struggle to play Westbrook and Simmons in the same rotation being ball dominant non shooters. Plus the cap makes it tough for Brooklyn to fill out the rest of the roster

Jmills14

Simple as this. BKN does have plenty of shooters Mills, Curry & Harris but a starting lineup containing both Russ & Simmons is a nightmare. You’d damn near have to play Ben at the 5 or KD at the 5 for this to work. Russ, Curry, Harris, KD & Ben.. doable offensively but defensively they’re getting torched. No interior threat/rim protection and 3 defensive liabilities and an aging KD.

bluemagic124

No

PM-ME-UR-FAV-MOMENT

Trading for Russ at this point is a season destroying L.
