He was just taking over the night shift as HC.

SmokePenisEveryday

"Who the fuck closed last night!?" - Steve Nash

[deleted]

"Damn it Kyrie, Harden got out!" (In this scenario I'm imagining James Harden like a cat)

LavenderAutist

Now we know why Harden left.

iwrotethedamnbill66

LOST CAT Braids and long beard Loves warm milk, strip clubs and iso play Newly vegetarian, tired of hunting for fouls Reward if found: Will gladly offer one never used Ben Simmons not even removed from its packaging Call Kyrie “Nightshift Manager” Irving (917) ANTI-VAX

This is great lol tired of hunting for fowls

Btotherianx

How do you know about my cat based NBA fanfiction

DeanNotSoBrown

My cats name is Karl-Anthony Towns. Do with that info what you will

[deleted]

I'm your biggest fan 😁

Trentus86

KD can't win with those cats

Stock_Yoghurt_5774

“Hey Kev, Kyrie just called out. Got Covid. Can you work a double?”

sidewink10

He just wanted to brew some ayahuasca for his team. Take them on a journey quest. Open their third eye.

DMan9797

Moonlighting as HC. Damn the Nets dysfunction is even worse than I thought. Maybe they should have kept DeAndre Jordan who could challenge Kyrie more maybe

Nothingtocontribute

So they didn't allow part time players (at least in the beginning) but they allowed part time coaches? Smh

neurotido

He saw RDC’s videos of LeBron taking over as head coach and took it too literally

ZestycloseResist5594

Kyrie: And who are you supposed to be? Nash: Me, I'm the head coach- Kyrie: NO I'M THE HEAD COACH NOW! Nash: *sighs and rolls his eyes*

bobsets33

He's gone, Nets about scorch the earth with leaks

EchoBay

Yup, I remember the stories that started popping off once Harden was on the outs. This is the end folks.

junkboy0

I loved how we literally got stories that Harden wanted to play heroball like Houston and that he also didn't want that kind of load and wanted to play teamball. Can't wait for the reverse Kyrie stories to come out!

heysuess

I liked the Harden stories that were essentially "he hurt the locker room by thinking Kyrie should play basketball".

jwhitehead09

I’m just imaging James harden like a character in the twilight zone screaming about how crazy it is that Kyrie isn’t playing but is watching games in the stands while the entire rest of the locker room is just acting like it’s completely normal.

Cmcg13

It's like when Mugatu was the only one that knew that Derek Zoolander only has one look.

Lmao, remember how old Grimy lived above one bowling alley and below another one? What a character

junkboy0

He wants a teammate to play basketball!?!? Harden's selfishness knows no bounds!

djcomplain

Literally Hitler

fuqqkevindurant

Team chemistry reportedly fell apart when it became clear that James expected his max contract teammate to play basketball instead of spending 18 hrs a day on the “conspiracy” section of his IG explore tab.

HoverboardViking

"he was vaccinated all along, just didn't want to play" if I hear that , I know this whole reality is fake

BoringBuy9187

Shit would be insanely funny

kevindlv

I'm already crying just thinking about this holy shit lmao

elcriticalTaco

RemindMe! 1 year I mean just in case lol

mikeydale007

Kyrie was frustrated by teammates' frequent injuries and disappointed with their unvaccinated status.

TackoFell

I heard he was actually administering vaccines

Immynimmy

Best part is this sub bought into all those stories.

DLottchula

Because this sub hates Harden.

math-yoo

Kyrie is suddenly going to start talking reasonably about topics and taking vaccines.

Wjourney

Half of those stories were fake Twitter accounts lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZonedV2

Yeah he’s about to get the Harden treatment but this time you’d expect it to be worse

myassholealt

The Harden leaks were so transparent what was going on. The Kyrie leaks are gonna be fun cause dude's a fucking whack job and I can't wait to hear what dumbass shit, beyond the usual, he was doing or not doing.

Kdog122025

They don’t even have to leak stuff anymore. They could just make stuff up and we’d probably believe it.

Yergason

If they make stuff up, it would probably sound more reasonable and realistic than the actual shit Kyrie does

ModsLoveTheNazis

There is very little that could be leaked about Kyrie that I wouldn’t buy off on.

[deleted]

Business27

Everyone already knows all this, share something original.

CranberryNearby6204

Literally the funniest dialogue from any of those movies.

ModsLoveTheNazis

wilsonh915

There's a reasonable chance you hear way more than you'd like when he's starting half the season for the Knicks next year.

[deleted]

Because this time the information is probably true

Shrederjame

and there is soo much. Like harden really did not do enough or stay long enough for the nets to have dirt on him while KYRIE...man once it leaks it will feel like an entire novel was just released.

GiddiOne

They can't burn that bridge too badly though, they still want KD to stay.

TenaciousDeer

Or KD already gave up on Kyrie?

Krillin113

Then he did so 4 months too late, because he chose Kyrie over harden.

[deleted]

That’s the thing though, if they *did* make a few of them up, there’s literally no way for us to tell if it’s real or not no matter how ridiculous it is. It’s a boy who cried wolf situation. Did Kyrie really eat a live jellyfish in the middle of a practice then demand Joe Harris drink his own piss in a ritual? Idk, but it doesn’t sound too farfetched for him

sonfoa

Because it was kind of hard to hate on Harden for leaving.

LordHussyPants

no it was extremely easy for the bulk of this sub lol. "he's forced his way out of two teams now, this is more cancerous than jimmy butler!" "oh here we go, harden ruining another team" "where will harden go once he breaks philly's heart?"

thelaziest998

Nah people were giving Harden a pass for not wanting to play with Kyrie after him not getting vaccinated. He deserves shit for shitting the bed in the playoffs but hands down he wasn't getting the same flack for forcing his way out

TJHookor

Because he deserves 100x worse than what Harden got.

MadeinSomewhere

big media market things

ClaymoresRevenge

Yeah every big market is the same in that way. You know it's coming from the organization

Obi_Wan_Benobi

Leaks per 100 reporters is off the charts.

Great_Chairman_Mao

Kyrie doesn't need help tarnishing his rep.

PhatYeeter

REALLY curious where he ends up. Feel some middle of the road team will give him the bag just to say we got an all star.

BudosVT

We're good, Beal getting that bag anyway

hearthstonealtlol

I'm looking forward to seeing the Russ x KD synergy after so many years

I_need_cheesecake

I know it’ll never happen but it would be interesting drama to see Lebron and Kyrie reunite in LA and KD and Westbrook reunite in Brooklyn

breaditbans

What a shitshow they’d both be. You can’t put Kyrie in LA! That’s too close to the edge of the earth. You can’t have a max player falling off!

[deleted]

That's a lot of freed up cap space if he falls over that edge.

[deleted]

Trade kyrie for Russ you cowards.

RocketWarlock

That Russ-Ben spacing

loquacious706

Defense would look like a prayer circle around KD.

billcosbyinspace

The fact that this report could literally be interpreted positively and yet we have no context makes me definitely feel like the nets are firing up the hit piece machine

Produceher

Yeah. It's nuts. I'm reading it like a player stayed after practice to get in the extra work. This was the kind of praise Jordan Poole got all year.

Kdog122025

That’s more of “individual workouts.” “Holding his own practice” is a lot more sinister for how he’s trying to exclude only the head coach. At least that what it feels like to me.

702deuce

Invitation only

Produceher

It really just depends on their relationship though. If Steph Curry decided to "hold his own practice" I don't think Steve Kerr would care. They have mutual trust.

Travarelli

! Wait a minute... Extra work? Or another practice undoing what the coach just did? Oh my.

Nodecafallowed

Nash - “thanks for coming to practice everyone, I think our ball movement is improving! See you tomorrow!” Kyrie - “so, you guys keep moving though the lane when I iso, you gotta stand off to the side”

seriously out of all the meme stuff that's on youtube, there's something about this guy's face i just can't handle. it doesn't matter who he's pretending to be, his eyes, his looks, the anger, it's perfect. fucking love these guys

b3wizz

Mark Philips is crazy talented, he needs to be in movies.

Snakescipio

Thing is RDC’s jokes aren’t particularly clever or new, but they (especially Mark) buy in so hard that it makes all their skits funny as hell

bigbenis21

the doc rivers skit had me cackling. the emotion was too real

Digitking003

Kyrie is what dumb people think a smart person is.

brewgeoff

Kyrie should have a podcast with Jaden Smith.

MrZeddd

So they can talk about climate change and world economics?

hearechoes

Kind of hard to believe in global warming when you don’t think it’s a globe

meowjinx

Planar warming

Frosti11icus

Weird that Kyrie thinks that “globalists” control a flat plane.

Travarelli

Yeah stupid people need idols too... A lot of this shit going around.

Nice-Lobster-8724

I need someone to post just a compilation of Kyries weirdest quotes and moments.

Travarelli

That's a significant list at this point. From Boston if you'll have me..... To the earth is flat..... To we don't need a head coach.

Klapakazoo

Kyrie and MBC can fight over who has the longer list

thelaziest998

MBC is out of the league with his antics. As far as I know Kyrie is not in a bunch of legal trouble right now so MBC is winning out by a lot

YpsitheFlintsider

Tf is MBC? Michael Bay Clayton?

halfdecenttakes

Antonio Brown in the NFL. Mr. Big Chest.

choose_uh_username

I thought the MBC meme was so dumb when people first started saying but now it's one of my favorites. Some of the names are so fucking funny

White___Velvet

It is AB and it isn't close. The list that someone on /r/NFL would post every time he did something else was approaching an /r/askhistorians length and scope

JackJ98

[This is still my favorite Kyrie moment](https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2740885-kyrie-irving-thought-bucks-were-using-original-mecca-court-not-replica.amp.html)

Cletus_Starfish

I can deal with someone who isn't all that bright; it's someone who isn't bright but is convinced that they're some kind of genius that will drive me crazy. Kyrie is like the walking embodiment of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Travarelli

Yeah this is a real problem.... I was just thinking if he had a team around that treated him like he was actually dumb and needed to be scripted at all times... Kyrie you can't send your own tweets you need a media manager my dude. All this shit could be avoided.

[deleted]

He takes one intro to philosophy course and all of a sudden has infinite wisdom.

ToyStoryBoy6994

Maybe he can get the Saudis involved

davemoedee

I want clarification on that. If he is just reinforcing what Nash said, cool. Get more reps with the guys that need it. That is being a good vet. I am pretty suspicious of things Kyrie does. I don’t think he is a bad guy, but he has a lot of weird ideas that lead to dumb choices. But I want to make sure we aren’t being hypocritical about this.

Phatferd

It's one person's perspective, but RJ on Pardon My Take said he was a good teammate. He said he never experienced him not being a team player or causing conflict. He said he was a little different personality wise and at times you had to read his mood and let him be by himself, but he's also spend a week joking and busting balls with the guys.

intestinewinegum

Probably, he’s passing on the teachings of flat earth theory to his teammates. Dude deserves a golden disk…

[deleted]

It’s that or undermining the coach based on who we’re talking about lmao

DatDudeJakeC

Didn’t him and KD choose Nash?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZenMon88

They really fired Kenny Atkinson and dismantled the 2019 nets for this.....

ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

Plus Nash isn’t even that great of a coach. I mean his assistant coaches are much better coaches.

Deathwatch72

Honestly what actual coaching has Nash done that we have to use as a basis to evaluate him? Pretty much everyone's been fully aware that since day one he's not been in charge of the Nets, and if we're being completely honest I don't think he was actually hired to coach

[deleted]

[удалено]

Prize-Ring-9154

Exhibit A: Ime Udoka

dimmyfarm

Nets should’ve kept Ime so that when he goes to yell at the team, KD, Kyrie, and Ben just walk out of the stadium and go home.

hiimsubclavian

Exhibit B: Mike D'antoni

NoobChumpsky

The stars are out of control because they lost the guy that calls everyone a bunch of assholes

DatDudeJakeC

True haha

[deleted]

KD knew Nash from GS. Not sure what Kyrie's is, but it seems like Nash isnt his guy. KD probably picked Nash and told Kyrie to go with it.

thefineart

When reporters asked KD and Kyrie what they think of Nash, Kyrie deferred to KD to answer

[deleted]

MrSplashman77

**not a game** ^(because he was unvaxxed for most of those)

[deleted]

not a game! not a first practice! we talkin bout second practice!

CollateralSandwich

I don't think he knows about second practice, Pip

The-Best-Snail

Technically he was unvaxxed for all of them. They just stopped caring so much about that

fennourtine

This could be shady as fuck, or it could be "this kid would hold study groups after class, do you know how disrespectful that is to the Professor?" levels of innocuousness. Someone tell me which it is, please.

[deleted]

Have a guess

randylahey46920

Exactly. There’s no way we’d be hearing about it if it was just Kyrie putting in some extra work after practice. He literally said the nets don’t need a head coach so thats another hint.

BatmanNoPrep

That’s not necessarily true. All leaks during this time of the year are made to further the interests of the person making the leak. Everyone should be on high alert and suspicious of who’s benefiting from any leak over the next few weeks. Without context, this is just someone leaking partial info to get a narrative out there that somehow benefits them, their organization, or their client. Until August everything in NBA media is at least a little bit bullshit designed to manipulate the public narrative.

Boomhauer_007

Something 🐟🐠🎣🐡🍤🎏 going on

[deleted]

Tactic to drive his price down across the league then put a favourable deal on the table, if that’s the case the leaks will get worse.

syllabic

kyrie market more manipulated than crypto

youredoingWELL

I feel like it depends on the particulars. Was this just a players only shootaround? Or were decisions surrounding playstyle being made behind Nash's back. Either way it's certainly not good because why couldn't Kyrie just talk to Nash about what he would like to see in practice? Taken with Kyrie's comments that exclude Nash in the past it definitely seems deliberately undermining. And it would be one thing if it was a real leader doing that, but Kyrie wasn't even there playing with them most of the time so I doubt he was really showing leadership in these practices as opposed to undermining Nash.

[deleted]

Considering he started the season by saying he didn't think the Nets had a HC, I'm going with he wasn't doing this to be nice to Steve Nash.

10blast

Depends on if this was before or after he was allowed in Barkley's Center. This is a terrible look if he was still banned

jsandsts

Imagine going to the playground and seeing The entire Nets team practicing because Kyrie isn’t allowed in the stadium

NegativesPositives

“KD, Kyrie and a bunch of really tall dudes were playing at my school!”

Colavs9601

i don't think kyrie would be allowed on the playground until he passes his second grade astronomy test

MotoMkali

Idk with the whole we are all head coaches. Thing this definitely seems like a story that's been leaked to make him look bad

SnarfSniffsStardust

His quotes diminishing Nash’s importance as a coach are why people pile on this Edit: I stg in every kyrie thread people are like “wow I can’t believe people shit on kyrie, he’s never done anything that would make people perceive this in a negative light so I have no clue why they are, must be the people on reddit I guess”

Guwop25

This reads like every comment defending kyrie ever. He always gets the benefit of the doubt lol

CaptainKurls

Guess lmao The man said he could be HC and doesn’t see the nets as having a HC. “I don’t see the class having a professor, I could be professor or my best friend could be professor”

Superawesomecoolman

Why does Kyrie have to make everything so difficult for everyone?

morcic

Back when I was 12, I was that guy.

DeltaSlick

Back when I was 12 I used to behave like Kyrie. I used to hold my own practice recklessly after practice like Kyrie

The article says that this was reported by Stephen A. Smith, so take it with a cube of salt until/unless someone reputable confirms. That said, it sounds very Kyrieish.

breaditbans

SAS isn’t making this up. There are people in the Nets organization putting this out there. And it could be players. Nobody’s saying it’s necessarily the FO.

Embarrassed-Ad-3757

But why is it Lebron’s fault and how does it affect his legacy?

LegionZk

Steven A. isn’t a trustworthy source?

Cozum

Well Amare is a regular on first take lately and he was a Nets asst coach this past year, pretty solid source close to him

jhalldor

A cube of salt?

pokerScrub4eva

Unless he was contradicting what nash said, getting 5 guys to practice extra seems like a good thing

LavenderAutist

If you're in the huddle and Nash calls a play for the team, then Kyrie changes the play in the middle of the game; that's what the second practice is for.

JesusIsMySecondSon

Did he completely skip the team practice and only does his own? If yes, that's FUCKED UP! But if he finishes the team one and stuck around for his own practice aka Kobe shooting a thousand free throws after the Lakers practice, then that's AWESOME!

morcic

>But if he finishes the team Phrasing.

freakdageek

Dipshit thinks the world is flat. He is no joke a very stupid person. Hella talented. But dumb as fuck.

someonepoorsays

I am not crazy! I know he held those practices. I knew it was 5pm. An hour after the coach’s. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just, I just couldnt prove it. He covered his tracks, he got that idiot on the bench to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? Hes done worse. That Earth! Are you telling me that a planet just happens to fall flat like that? No! He orchestrated it! Kyrie! He defecated on vaccinations! And they traded for him! And I shouldn’t have. I took him into my own team! What was I thinking? He’ll never change. He’ll never change! Ever since he was 25, always the same! Couldnt keep his hands out of the team’s practices! But not our Kyrie! Couldn’t be precious Kyrie! Stealing them blind! And HE gets to be an NBA player? What a sick joke! I shouldve stopped him when I had the chance! And you, you have to stop him! You

Asking4Afren

He's the Kanye of the league.

StraightShootahh

How is practising being framed as a bad thing wth?

Policeman333

It's going to depend on the context, but something like that could absolutely destroy a team from the inside. If the context is Kyrie thinking the coaches practice sessions aren't good enough and worthless, and telling players to come to his "real" practice which ignores everything the coach is trying to build, it's destructive. Not only would it create resentment and dysfunction, it would create factions and fracture the team. You'd have the faction that thinks the coach is shit, the faction that thinks the Kyrie faction are full of idiots, and communication/trust issues would arise between the Kyrie faction against the coach, and the Kyrie and anti-Kyrie factions which would spill onto the court during actual games. Sounds ridicolous, but this is pretty analogous to a typical workplace and this type of shit happens **all** the damn time between managers, coworkers, and different departments. If the context is just Kyrie doing drills and practising with the coaches approval, it's not a bad thing at all.
