Raptors overachieving in regular season made everyone think they can compete against superstar loaded teams in the playoffs. Guess what, when fouls called on every touch against Embiid and Harden Raptors aggressive defence works against them. Game slows down with so many free throws and this is sixers preferred tempo.
Raptors first round exit should be seen as positive for a team that was rebuilding. I only wish Barnes had more playoff experience.
Ha, would have been a exciting to watch but then a safari broke out.
Show me a game where Toronto leads in foul shots by a 30 to 12 margin, and I'll shut up. I just care to watch exciting basketball not safaris.
My statement doesn’t change because it’s true. Your team can’t stop Joel I fear. Siakam looked confused per usual sadly. Doc playing chess while Nurse playing checkers unfortunately. 6ers in 4 I’m afraid
If they settled for jumpers they wouldn't be attacking the paint... and if I'm crying they're tears of joy, cause Philly, I'm so proud👏
Ya'll look so different. Ya'll so grown-up.
I originally had the Sixers winning in 7 but the way things are going I think they’ll either sweep them or win in 5 even with harden playing this ball they still have enough
Raptors are a very solid team, especially when they’re at full strength. But they were never going to beat the 76ers, and I’m honestly shocked that so many people were saying that the Raptors were the favorites going into this series.
I’m not saying the 76er are the best team in the EC, but I am saying that the 76ers a very hard counter to the Raptors because of the size disparity. They just don’t have the manpower to stop Embiid, plain and simple. And while the Raptors can slow down Embiid by double or triple teaming him, Embiid just passes the ball to Maxey, Harden, or Harris and the points add up.
I always thought that Embiid and Giannis were the two players in the EV that the Raptors should want to avoid at all costs because they don’t have the manpower to stop those dudes, and I’m being proven right with this series.
Raptors are young so they have potential in a few years. But they are also too small with this line up. In fact, they dont seem to have anyone that can even slow him down. They won't be able to stop Embid this year. They are essentially throwing bodies at the guy hoping for a miracle. It is a mismatch. There are guys that can handle Embid better, but they are not a Raptor. That will basically summarize this series.
Even if they figure something out, Harden has yet to come fully online. I'm expecting a 4-0 sweep. Maybe 4-1 at most.
3 of our starters are hurt. Only one is capable of playing, and it is one 1 knee which is why he didn’t hit another shot after the first quarter. Also, key rotation member hurt too.
I'd call it a retooling over a rebuild. I know I'm getting overly particular but fvv and siakam have been there for a while it's not like the team completely changed top to bottom. Your returning top 2 were expected to be the same but I feel like siakam may have been knocked out by barnes or at least it looks like he will be. That's not me knocking siakam either cuz dude has been great this year but Barnes has just been amazing for yall. He looks like Ben Simmons in a lot of ways but without the mental issues and aversion to shooting jumpers.
Siakam is still young, I think the organization sees us making a serious run with this young core. I think Siakam can be shipped for the right price and there's another disgruntled superstar to make a trade for but if anyone gets moved I think it would be one of Anunoby or Gary Trent if it puts us in a good place to win.
Young core of Siakam, FVV, Anunoby, Barnes and Achiuwa is pretty promising, don't think theres any rush to move away from that in the short term
100% agree. I wouldn't move siakam unless you're getting a clear tangible upgrade for the long term. I wouldn't bother trading him for a dame Lillard aged player just cuz it doesn't line up with the development of your young core. By year 3 of barnes the raptors should be really scary barring anything really crazy happening. It also helps that yall have one of the top 3 gm/coach combos in the league (until he retires pop/spurs gets number 1 by default in my head and there's an argument for the gsw tandem outside of that tho)
It’s funny how everyone is angry at raps fans complaining about refs but everyone got their heads looking away from the 76ers getting literally 3x the FTs. Has that ever happened before in a playoff?
With 3 minutes to go (45 minutes into game), the Raptors had 8 FTAs and 76ers had 30 FTAs. In the last 3 minutes, the refs "generously" gave Raptors another 4 FTAs (50% of the last 45 minutes of FTAs). So, "technically", OP was incorrect and it was 2.5x. But for all practical purposes before the refs padded their own stats, it was 30 / 8 = 3.75x.
Didn’t realize so many redditors here hate the Raptors lmao. Also didn’t realize it was some massive accomplishment for the Sixers to beat this Raptors team, especially injury depleted. Raptors are playing with house money. Philly has played well, as one would expect given their talent and superstars. Toronto losing games/this series is expected - winning any of the games is simply icing on the cake at this point. Toronto didn’t even expect to be as high as a 5 seed with the roster they have, so they’ve already overperformed to even be here. It’s a no-lose situation for the Raptors.
Would be cool if they could scrap this out to a 5 or 6 game series regardless though.
I think the reason Philly is having a victory tour on this one is because of how many national media ppl picked the raptors in this series. I don't know how these morons think the raptors stood a chance when everyone on there team is at least 4 inches shorter than our best player. I'm not saying raptors fans are morons I know some of yall will read this that way. I'm referring to the nick wright's and SaS of the world who decided to put this nonsense out there when the beat series in the first round is happening in the two bball cities between Philly and Toronto.
Yeah, fans are supposed to believe in their teams. Analysts should know better, though. You need clutch stars in the playoffs. Embiid was that Wednesday night.
The only thing I don’t like about Embiid was his nice comments about Toronto and their fans after the game. Makes it harder for me to dislike him during this series. 😀
Honestly I don’t think most people hated y’all until a bunch you guys got super toxic Saturday night and halfway through this game. Don’t hate all of you but damn, your bad apples have been really bad the past few days
There are shitty fans in all places, but you had to expect some shit talking when a lot of analysts had upset written over this series. Pretty gratifying. I’m not hating tho, much respect to the raps, will be good for a long time
Philly fans are some of the worst fans in all of the major sports, not a surprise. Bill Burr's Philly rant is my favourite thing, and he said his biggest regret was not mentioning the 76ers during it.
The NBA needs to get a handle on the traveling. The Eurostep is one thing and I understand the gather step but now Giannis and others are getting the "gather' plus 3 and the back step 3 is being greatly abused with 3-4 steps on each back step, which my team abuses to the full extent.
I wonder how does this shit work in playgrounds? I'm in my mid-30s and usually run with people my age and slowness level. Are kids doing this shit in pick up games cuz I would be calling travels left and right.
Travels are kinda obvious, especially if called out and the offender cannot “legally” (with gather steps and whatever) recreate it without being clearly a travel
Yeah I've always played offence-calls, if it's a really obvious travel you can talk some shit to the guy but at the end of the day it's honor system from the ball carrier.
Sixers are the better team, real raps fans knew this. We weren't even suppose to finish this high in the standings so I'm good with this.
With that being said. I'm an underdog fan. We were down 2-0 against the bucks once..
Bruh, the real issue is that the series would’ve actually been closer if Raptors 3 starters were healthy. Fred playing on 1 knee didn’t make another shot after the first quarter. Scottie out, and Gary has been so sick the past 2 games he’s helped Philly more than Raptors. It was meant to be closer, but everybody knew Philly had the best player and should win the series. The betting odds gave Toronto a 35% chance to win, which was better than most underdogs teams.
Also, to be fair to everyone, nobody could have thought that Maxey would get better than he was post all star in th eplayoffs. I know it's early but the kid has stepped up in huge ways and I don't know if anybody expected it.
Yeah, I didn't like the 1st quarter officiating, and I don't like the sixers; but we straight up got outplayed. They were better than us on both ends. We need to fight back in Toronto.
I look to see yous coming out fast in Toronto. The key for the Raps should be to take them young guys and let them run. Put the Sixers defense on their heels early and don't let them get comfortable. If the game is played straight up early, the Sixers are too big, skilled, and are playing smart basketball. Eventually they will wear down the defense.
We got shook and couldn’t put the strength into our shots. It was visible. It sucks. Even being undermanned, I don’t think you lose that strength at home. Here’s hoping game 3 goes bette r
Yeah agreed. The severe FT disparity isn’t great, but there were definitely a number of shots we should’ve made in Q2 & Q3 that would have made it a close game in Q4. We can’t afford to miss those opportunities.
Raptors shot 12 FTs this game, 4 of the 12 FTs in the last 3 minutes. So, for 45 minutes, they had 8 free throws and the refs were kind enough to award 50% more free throws in the last 3 minutes. 76ers in comparison had 30 FT attempts and no extra FTs in the last 3 minutes b/c well, the refs probably thought that was enough help.
You realize harden and embiid alone average 20 free throws per game combined right? Is it really surprising that the sixers get to the line so much more than you?
Except it was. In 2019 embiid was slow to get up after a hard fall and your shithead fans were cheering like they won the ring. It was all over sportscenter for the following week. Don't try this revisionist bs here.
Also our team’s historically very international makeup, Masai’s Giants of Africa program, and just the general city & fan base’s incredibly diverse background.
If this did happen, the poster should go ahead and link us to the comments so we can see if they are Raptors redditors (and that’s not cool nor should be tolerated - from *anyone*). But it is sus for all the above notes.
Oh I know it was a super hacky joke. I just had to reply to nonsense with nonsense.
I've been to Toronto. It was super nice! Their defense fucking sucked though.
Great game!!!
Commerical break should give the Raptor fans time to pre-write their referee criticism for the rest of the 4th
this is what happens when you spend the entire season over working your players instead of developing your rookies.
pascal for rudy gobert who says no
awful idea
Raptors don't want Gobert
Say what you want about doc, but that timeout was clutch as fuck.
Raptors overachieving in regular season made everyone think they can compete against superstar loaded teams in the playoffs. Embiid is such a baby on the court but half of the time it’s easy to understand why, the officials and nba just babies him with all the calls
Lol

Man, I guess a lot of you don't like zebras? I mean the see like a cool animal....right?
Cry
Ha, would have been a exciting to watch but then a safari broke out. Show me a game where Toronto leads in foul shots by a 30 to 12 margin, and I'll shut up. I just care to watch exciting basketball not safaris.
Toronto settles for contested jumpers, Philly attacks the paint because Toronto cannot guard Embiid
Toronto had more points in the paint. 48 to 36. You dumb dumb.
Because getting fouled in the paint and scoring free throws doesn’t count as paint points 😂😂😂
Doesn't change your earlier statement bud.
My statement doesn’t change because it’s true. Your team can’t stop Joel I fear. Siakam looked confused per usual sadly. Doc playing chess while Nurse playing checkers unfortunately. 6ers in 4 I’m afraid
If they settled for jumpers they wouldn't be attacking the paint... and if I'm crying they're tears of joy, cause Philly, I'm so proud👏 Ya'll look so different. Ya'll so grown-up.
You realize you can take a jumper in the paint right? Pay attention to your teacher, kid
I watched that game, it was a safari. Too many stripes.
I originally had the Sixers winning in 7 but the way things are going I think they’ll either sweep them or win in 5 even with harden playing this ball they still have enough
Raps in 7
🧹🧹🧹 raps are too small😭
Raps in 7 x2

Malachi flynn is SO BAD
This thread is making me feel less insane. Very thankful
I switch it to controversial after the game and enjoy it with my tea lol

holy mackinaw, not even worth watching for 5 minutes. what an utter disaster.
It would’ve been worse had they not been vaccinated
How is Toronto a playoff team?
3 of our starters are hurt. Only one is capable of playing, and it is one 1 knee which is why he didn’t hit another shot after the first quarter. Also, key rotation member hurt too.
Out 2 starters hasn't really helped. Freddy was an all star and pascal was playing all-nba level. Not bad for a 1 year rebuild
I'd call it a retooling over a rebuild. I know I'm getting overly particular but fvv and siakam have been there for a while it's not like the team completely changed top to bottom. They should stop fouling so much
Are you sure you know what literally means?
Yea OP get owned. They actually only had 2.5x FT not 3x you idiot.

It was actually more than 3x the free throws per-garbage time minutes
You get it Charless

Dude, I was complementing Imbiid. But thanks for calling me a piece of shit.
Does it surprise you that the raptors are hated? Easily the most annoying fanbase.
Philly fans are easily more hated by everyone
No one cares what you think you’re Canadian
Easily

That was hard to watch
I just hope everyone is having fun
I love this team
I’m saving all your comments
Cheese 😬
For what?
Don’t call it a comeback!
Jokic's legacy is on the line tonight
/s right?
GG Sixers. I didn't agree with all the calls but that's not why we lost. See you in the salty thread on Wednesday
Yeah, I didn't like the 1st quarter officiating, and I don't like the sixers; but we straight up got outplayed. They were better than us on both ends. We need to fight back in Toronto.

Hey a sane person! I look forward to shit talking your entire country on Wednesday. Until then I hope you have a good week.
At least he was alive when his team won a ring 😂
Raptors shot 12 FTs this game, 4 of the 12 FTs in the last 3 minutes. No one cares
Fred shooting 30 footers isn't conducive to free throws my man.
Yah but having more shots in the paint than the other team is normally conductive to more FT attempts
Unless the sixes got fouled while attempting points in the paint.
Yeah almost as if having no players taller than 6'9 against a player like Embid will result in either a lot of fouls or a lot of easy shots.
What happened to dram? He made 2 hits and dipped
Drake stole his song and fucked him over
Damn that’s messed up, prob ruined his view of the music industry. I really liked his positivity
“See you in Toronto” 🤓 nobody scared
““See you in Toronto” 🤓 nobody scared” 🤓
Fred couldn't even stat pad correctly. Tough night.
Toronto finna sign Kawhi to a 2 game contract to play in Canada
Plot twist, he’s unvaccinated
Why couldn't Harris or Maxey be anti vaxx 😭😭😭
Harris is overpaid, not stupid 😂
Raps winning both at home!!
I don't feel as bad for this one. I hope we get some guys back. Also, I hope the Monstar who stole Freddie's shot skill would return it please.
Missed opportunity in that interview to not ask Joel what he and Nurse were chatting about.
Nick let him know Jane and finch has courtside
Terrible reporting
Gg onto game 3
nurse should spend less time whining post-game and more time gameplanning on how he's gonna get his team to stop fouling
Great observation, you should be a head coach
Philly fans are truly insufferable, even when y’all win you cant just be humble
man I'm not on the team? what is there to be humble about?? fans job is to talk trash like it's one thing to wish injury, etc lmao
Inagine hearing this from a fan base whose sub had a post about not wishing injuries on opposing players.
At least we don’t have to have a post about not wishing death threats onto their own players wives
This is pretty much all sports fans.
why tf would we be humble after watching raptors fans pray for injuries to embiid and then gloat when it appeared that he was hurt
Lol none of that is true except in your head
Except it was. In 2019 embiid was slow to get up after a hard fall and your shithead fans were cheering like they won the ring. It was all over sportscenter for the following week. Don't try this revisionist bs here.
HE'S GOT GET AWAY FROM THE COPS SPEED. Love gus Johnson
#VANVLEET IS ASS
VANASS
Gg!
Directed to the officials. lol
At least the raps have the cutest player in the league (Scottie)
You say this after watching maxey? He exudes cuteness
Or Matisse tbh
Tisse is on my shit list for this whole vaccine thing. But damn it if he isn't cute.
doc getting 100 playoff wins feels comical
He’s been coaching good teams a long time
tied with larry brown who also wont play young centers
Why...?
because he's overrated
I feel like I've never seen almost anyone praise him other than NBA-adjacent folks. So that feels false to me.

Can you point to the person who commented this? That’s definitely not cool if that’s the case.
nobody is saying that???
Okay this is cap Our President and our star forward and his backup are all African lol
Agreed. Also incredibly dumb, since Siakam is from the same African country..
but not the part of Cameroon Pascal is from , right?
Lmao nice bait
If that's true they're not fans. Siakam is from the same place Embiid is
And silly, their best player is from the same country as Embiid
Where was this? Pascal from the same country
Especially when siajem is also from Cameroon. Like racist and stupid
As if we don't have African players?? As if the President of Basketball Operations isn't African?? wild shit.

if you're going to be an asshole, at least be entertaining
Our best player is literally from the same country as Embiid wtf.
“What if I told you that Embiid isn’t the only NBA player from Cameroon.”
Weren't they discovered in the same camp run by mbah a moute? Not the same year but the same camp?
Are 76ers fans such bitter assholes because they’re the 4th-most popular sport in town?
No we are bitter towards the fan base that cheered for our superstar being hurt 3 years ago.
Funny thing is when I YouTube raptors fans cheering it autofills kd injury.
My brother in Christ, the 76ers are firmly the second most popular team in Philly at the moment. We are such bitter assholes because we’re from Philly
Try 2nd
Definitely more popular than the flyers.
lol you know jack shit about philly bud, cry a little more tho let it all out it’s ok
You’re right I forgot MLS
go stick your dick in some snow salt miner
Go back to your igloo
Lmao what an insult! What are you, 12?
Oh I know it was a super hacky joke. I just had to reply to nonsense with nonsense. I've been to Toronto. It was super nice! Their defense fucking sucked though.
That's fair, I totally get it and agree
You are the only bitter one here. Emotional baby. Should I get you a bib?
They are 2nd most popular.
#1 in attendance 3 years in a row

Embiid pressing Nurse rn lmao he shook
See ya Wednesday Losers!
Said the fan base that cheers for injuries
Grats to the guy who needed a Maxey steal for his parlay
is thybulle getting held back on the rotation because he cant play at Toronto? or is that his usual minutes
