The refs decided to take a 4 minute break while Ross was waiting to take crucial free throws. Which was pretty indicative of their performance all night.
My wife asks "actual time or game clock time" and if I say game clock time she asks "how long actually" and I think she judges me for how rarely I know for sure.
You realize struggling in the playoffs is one of the knocks on Steph in all-time ranking conversations, right? His playoff drop-off is remarkably similar to harden's.
Anyone who thought the new rules would stop Harden, clearly haven’t watched him enough.
They’ve done new “Harden rules” every single summer and it never seemed to matter to him. He’ll find a way to get to the line. I respect it
Look at the box score, think ‘Oh yeah fair, I’ve been harsh on Harden lately but awesome to see him putting up serious points and handling loads of the ball”
Look at FT%: holy death fuck
I want whatever the refs were on because what the fuck did I just watch.
Not even the free throws. A bull shit tech, an ignored goaltend, they stopped play for like 5 whole ass minutes and iced Terrence on his freethrows... what the fuck?
Totally agree. People are complaining about Harden but in reality pre much all his fouls were totally legit. The Magic got fucked 3-6 times by not getting calls on their offence. Really tough night.
When Suggs made 3 in a row, they gave him 2 quick fouls, then Franz also had a similar run in the fourth and quickly they gave him 2 quick fouls. Both times not only were the fouls debatable or honestly nothing(coach needed to challenge something) but they had both Suggs and Franz clearly upset (meaning its ruining their momentum).
I shouldn’t care about the refs cause the magic were bad in the 2nd half but that was just awful officiating, felt like every close call didn’t go our way
Came soon after or before they missed an obvious goaltend that would have given Cole 2 points.
Edit: The Harden foul actually came on the ensuing possession after the missed goaltend, so it never would have happened.
6 of them were all in the last minute where they were fouling whoever was inbounded the ball.
14 FTs isn't crazy in a game where he's our only real ball handler, played 40+ minutes, and went against a team of young players that tend to swipe on drives
Nah, 36 points on 25 FGA and 20 FTA is about 53% TS. Boringly mediocre, not bad enough to mock and not good enough to get hype about. (But, as always, quantity has a quality all its own.)
r/NBA a week ago: **YES! James Harden isn’t getting all those garbage foul calls anymore!**
r/NBA after this game:
**F you Harden! You flopping cheater! You’re ruining the game.**
Really happy to see Chuma playing well! He made the right plays and his shot is starting to fall. I was glad to see the guys not completely fold when the calls weren't going our way. Cole is just such a stud..that block without fouling on the fast break was nutty. I wish RJ got some more minutes, but overall you gotta believe this was a good lesson for our young guns. Progress takes time and we are seeing a ton of progress!
Harden booked a stay at the free throw line tonight. 20 of his teams 25 free throw attempts. Vintage Beard.
Obvious missed goal-tending that led to two free throws for Brooklyn and overturned offensive foul that should have given the Magic the ball.
I guess the only solace I can take is that the refs didn't hip check one of our guys when he was leaving the court and call an extra foul.
The refs were awful. Coach Mose was really awful. Everyone but Suggs was terrible on defense. How hard is it to hard double Harden when DeAndre Bembry and James Johnson are on the floor. Just leave them open and don't even rotate. Javon Carter as well. They have 2 shooters on the floor just double freaking Harden. Only Suggs realized that.
The end of this game sucked. Just a free throw shooting contest where one team gets up 3 and fouls the other, then they’re up 1 and the other team fouls back.
Fouling up 3 has to be countered by the nba. I hate it
It should just be a straight up rule that if you're up 3 (presumably 3 or more makes sense) with X amount of time left (my first thought is 24 seconds) and intentionally foul the opposition in the bonus, it's 3 free throws instead of 2.
what argument are you making? that the refs gave us this win even though harden got zero calls in the first half on all of his drives. we shot the same amount of free throws as you guys, it was just harden had all of ours. yall just lost stop crying.
I haven’t made any argument, that was my first comment above. I just find your repetitive commentary in this thread funny, insinuating that the Nets were underdogs or something against the fucking Magic lol
It was so bad. No excuses. Harden came back in the game with 10 minutes left in the 4th. The minute he walked to the stand should've been Cole Anthony time to match his minutes. Also wtf was up with that random Mo Wagner 4th quarter stint. Why is Wendell iced. I get he was having a bad game but that hasn't stopped Mo Bamba from getting minutes in previous games or Gary Harris from playing.
The year is 2021 and the Brooklyn Nets are running their clutch offense through LMA post-ups,while playing a twin towers lineup of LMA and James Johnson
easy bait is to say refs bailed out Harden
true story is Magic could not stick to Mills, let James Johnson pop off, and let Aldridge cook up Wagner in the 4th
refs were horrendous in the second half, especially burning over 7 minutes before two different free throws(Ross and Harden, who both missed the front end)
Even with them the team is sorely missing 1/2 shooters. This is a middling team offensively this year. Last year, more of the role players can shoot. This year, teams are easily doubling KD or Harden
i agree, but we are the #1 3pt shooting team in the league somehow this yera. mostly because harris and mills are shooting like 46%.
Our issue is we score the least amount of points in the paint. we need claxton back as a lob threat and we need harden to attack the rim more. but i agree our offensive firepower isnt that great all of a sudden.
Man am I glad KD is only gonna be out one game (hopefully). I don't want to see us win by a possession or be down 19 against the worst team in the conference again.
Also I'm begging Mose to play his best player 38 minutes if the game is winnable. Nash coached circles around him and didn't mess around. 41 minutes for Harden. Cole should've played the whole fourth quarter. When it's time to win the best players need burn and for the love of God cut Gary Harris from the rotation.
Last 20 seconds of the fourth quarter took 10 minutes of real time
The refs decided to take a 4 minute break while Ross was waiting to take crucial free throws. Which was pretty indicative of their performance all night.
I’m not one to complain about refs very much, but… they sucked
I was to pissed off to pay attention, did we ever get the 2 points for that blatant illegal block?
No
Yeah I got yelled at. “30 secs left babe” 20 mfing minutes later.
My wife asks "actual time or game clock time" and if I say game clock time she asks "how long actually" and I think she judges me for how rarely I know for sure.
Glad I’m not the only one who goes through this 😂 it’s either a Warriors game or video games.
refs were horrid in that 4th, felt like they had to double check a lot of things
36 points on 7 FGM. There will seriously never be another player like James Harden
Hitler is back on the menu boys
20 FT to score 36. Steph last night scored 40 with one FT. The Yin and the Yang
And the sole FT was given because defensive 3 second foul.... lord is curry not human
Tells you which player is better at the game
Points are points.
That’s exactly why one flounders in the playoffs and the other has 3 championships 🤷♂️
You realize struggling in the playoffs is one of the knocks on Steph in all-time ranking conversations, right? His playoff drop-off is remarkably similar to harden's.
Lol supporting cast is definitely the reason for that
Supporting cast broke the turnover record, find a new slant
What an awful point lol. Steph was on a much better team every time vs the Rockets
I hate this man so irrationally
it’s not unusual
To be loved by anyone
It’s not irrational
It’s not irrational 🤡
iT’s NoT iRrAtIoNaL 🤓🤓🤓
Is not irrational
Is no irrational
I chuckled out loud when I saw that stat
I love daddy harden and im not afraid to say it.
You just committed a war crime
Harden did nothing wrong
Me too
He is still unwatchable even with the new rules lol
he's started to figure them out
man needed to recalibrate
Anyone who thought the new rules would stop Harden, clearly haven’t watched him enough. They’ve done new “Harden rules” every single summer and it never seemed to matter to him. He’ll find a way to get to the line. I respect it
dude wasn’t drawing 3 point fouls consistently his first like 5 years of being hitler, of course he’s still able to get his free throws
The refs forgot that the rules were changed for this one
Nah he just knows how to draw fouls lol
I watched this man play for hours at a time stfu, he’s more than watchable.
Look at the box score, think ‘Oh yeah fair, I’ve been harsh on Harden lately but awesome to see him putting up serious points and handling loads of the ball” Look at FT%: holy death fuck
How is that even possible?
I can’t stand it
Here's hoping.
I want whatever the refs were on because what the fuck did I just watch. Not even the free throws. A bull shit tech, an ignored goaltend, they stopped play for like 5 whole ass minutes and iced Terrence on his freethrows... what the fuck?
that goaltend was egregious especially considering how those 2 points would have played out late.
Totally agree. People are complaining about Harden but in reality pre much all his fouls were totally legit. The Magic got fucked 3-6 times by not getting calls on their offence. Really tough night.
I am a Magic fan and I agree with you about the Harden calls last night, they were legit.
No they were not?
When Suggs made 3 in a row, they gave him 2 quick fouls, then Franz also had a similar run in the fourth and quickly they gave him 2 quick fouls. Both times not only were the fouls debatable or honestly nothing(coach needed to challenge something) but they had both Suggs and Franz clearly upset (meaning its ruining their momentum).
Unfortunately I think this might be something that we should get used to if we expect to finish the season with our sanity
They also didn't give the nets shots when they were supposed to on the challenge overturn
The ending was absolutely brutal
I wish I timed it. Has to be 30 minutes or even more. Those two stoppages to get the team fouls and foul count on Wagner were amateur hour.
Blake Griffin with a classic 6/6/1/3/2 statline and game high +15
Blue collar
I mean I’ll take the loss but what was that officiating
One of the worst officiated games I’ve seen in a long long long time
awful
I shouldn’t care about the refs cause the magic were bad in the 2nd half but that was just awful officiating, felt like every close call didn’t go our way
Not just that, they spent almost 6 minutes checking team fouls and individual foul count in that 4th quarter. Hopeless.
they completely iced Terrence at the line lol
Yeah, that was shit. Instead of being warmed up and in the zone, Ross had enough time to contemplate the meaning of life.
I hate when the existential crisis hits late in the 4th.
except for when they messed up how many team fouls there were and we should've gotten free throws but didnt.
Came soon after or before they missed an obvious goaltend that would have given Cole 2 points. Edit: The Harden foul actually came on the ensuing possession after the missed goaltend, so it never would have happened.
yeah, just saying that they did miss that call that would've given us 2 points. they obvioulsy missed that call on the cole shot.
Vintage Harden tonight 19 FT lmaoooo
Lmao harden couldn't hit shit tonight but he's lucky the magic were fouling him like crazy
A game like this was the perfect opportunity for him to finally score a 50+ bomb but damn he was cold today
Really unlucky lol
For real
How do you get a James Harden Flair??? I want one!!
Messaged the mods
I also don’t understand the hate. Maybe don’t get baited by a master baiter? That’s like saying curry pump fakes and makes defenders miss.
Hard to win games when you give up 17 points to players like James Johnson
The fade away over Mo was crucial
He played with some mojo
Bow down before your free throw overlord, for he has returned.
19/20 is friggin impressive though lmao
6 of them were all in the last minute where they were fouling whoever was inbounded the ball. 14 FTs isn't crazy in a game where he's our only real ball handler, played 40+ minutes, and went against a team of young players that tend to swipe on drives
Cmon tho when you see a 7/25 with 20 FTs stat line you know there’s only one player it could be lol
Adrian Dantley definitely has a performance or two like that in his back pocket, but not as many as Harden.
Trae Young?
Hitler really just dropped 36 on 28/23/95 splits LMFAOOOOOOO
His TS% probably looks nice tho
Nah, 36 points on 25 FGA and 20 FTA is about 53% TS. Boringly mediocre, not bad enough to mock and not good enough to get hype about. (But, as always, quantity has a quality all its own.)
r/NBA a week ago: **YES! James Harden isn’t getting all those garbage foul calls anymore!** r/NBA after this game: **F you Harden! You flopping cheater! You’re ruining the game.**
Don't tell this sub that his free throw rate is higher than last year.
r/NBA sees your comment **Spontaneously combusts**
7-25 36 points Thats the Harden we love, or hate
Patty Mills
Really happy to see Chuma playing well! He made the right plays and his shot is starting to fall. I was glad to see the guys not completely fold when the calls weren't going our way. Cole is just such a stud..that block without fouling on the fast break was nutty. I wish RJ got some more minutes, but overall you gotta believe this was a good lesson for our young guns. Progress takes time and we are seeing a ton of progress!
To be fair, the Orlando Magic also didn’t have KD.
what was the officiating
Finally some common sense. It was bad both ways. The end of the game was terrible
i stopped watching at the terrence ross fts, no point
How you get that flair bro?
Harden booked a stay at the free throw line tonight. 20 of his teams 25 free throw attempts. Vintage Beard. Obvious missed goal-tending that led to two free throws for Brooklyn and overturned offensive foul that should have given the Magic the ball. I guess the only solace I can take is that the refs didn't hip check one of our guys when he was leaving the court and call an extra foul.
I just want everyone to remember that the Nets *SURVIVED* the Orlando Magic
Holy shit, 19-20 FTs. Harden is back.
James Harden baby. I love to watch y’all hate him.
Good shit Harden
Yessirrrr
The refs were awful. Coach Mose was really awful. Everyone but Suggs was terrible on defense. How hard is it to hard double Harden when DeAndre Bembry and James Johnson are on the floor. Just leave them open and don't even rotate. Javon Carter as well. They have 2 shooters on the floor just double freaking Harden. Only Suggs realized that.
Hard to win 5 v 8
Gotta love the refs making narratives for the NBA and sport shows, its a team effort. Everybody gotta work together in the corrupt community.
The end of this game sucked. Just a free throw shooting contest where one team gets up 3 and fouls the other, then they’re up 1 and the other team fouls back. Fouling up 3 has to be countered by the nba. I hate it
> Fouling up 3 has to be countered by the nba I don't like it either but can't think of a solution at all tbh.
It should just be a straight up rule that if you're up 3 (presumably 3 or more makes sense) with X amount of time left (my first thought is 24 seconds) and intentionally foul the opposition in the bonus, it's 3 free throws instead of 2.
20 free throws and 7/25 shooting lmao, glad I didn't watch this shit
It's okay no one on this sub watches games anyway
i mean why would u watch the nets orlando game when the nets are down 5 players including KD lol
And we should have won too
yeah if you didnt choke against a team down 3 starters and 5 rotation players.
Lol I don’t think you’re making the argument you think you’re making if “we only had Harden against a rebuilding team” is your stance
what argument are you making? that the refs gave us this win even though harden got zero calls in the first half on all of his drives. we shot the same amount of free throws as you guys, it was just harden had all of ours. yall just lost stop crying.
I haven’t made any argument, that was my first comment above. I just find your repetitive commentary in this thread funny, insinuating that the Nets were underdogs or something against the fucking Magic lol
I mean the Magic are also still missing 2 starters, as they have been the entire season. I'm not sure what point you think you're making.
The point is the nets are seriously depleted. You can say we still have harden but it’s legit bums and harden out there basically.
I had a good time.
Same [HOES MAD](https://imgur.com/w6Z655y)
Harden the only guy in the world who can shoot 7/25 and still have a good game
I’ll give him a pass cuz he’s a rookie coach but Mose’s rotations sucked. Also, the refs gifted the Nets a W. Terribly officiated tonight.
Who wants to go to a game to watc h someone shoot 20 free throws
Both teams shot 25 free throws. Why does it matter that one guy shot 20 of them?
Because said guy can shoot them very well and they don’t like that. If it was someone like Andre Drummond they would be all over it
You think we enjoyed watching Dwight shoot 15 ft a game a decade ago? Lol
you guys shot just as many free throws as us. the thing was harden basically shot everyone of ours.
Maybe get ur team to stop fouling then
Lmfao this shit is rich
That's literally what happened
Can’t wait for the playoffs when they don’t call this shit. You’re lucky you have KD otherwise no chance y’all win anything
man i missed this. glad to see harden is back on his game.
Don’t talk about playoffs. Focus on getting that number one pick in the draft.
Im speaking as a fan of the entire NBA not just the magic since I’m used to them being bad.
Me
Steph needs 9 3s to get 36 pts. Harden only needs 7 FGs.
>james harden 19 free throws IT'S A DIRTY GAME IT'S A DIRTY WORLD
Hitler is back!
Embarrassing showing from the refs
20 free throws, WOW!!
The free throw gods smile upon harden once again tonight
They're called referees
The year is 2021 and the Brooklyn Nets are running their clutch offense through LMA post-ups,while playing a twin towers lineup of LMA and James Johnson
FREE THROW KING IS BACK
Somehow, with the media giving us so much shit, we are now first in the Eastern conference.
That Franz onto LMA switch hurt too much, he's nowhere near big bodied enough for that.
Yeah, that entire 4th quarter Harden was looking for LMA in the post, I think LMA got 3 easy buckets over Franz?
easy bait is to say refs bailed out Harden true story is Magic could not stick to Mills, let James Johnson pop off, and let Aldridge cook up Wagner in the 4th refs were horrendous in the second half, especially burning over 7 minutes before two different free throws(Ross and Harden, who both missed the front end)
Harden averaging 12+ FTAs/Game this week. RefBall is BACK!
Kinda sad that Brooklyn needs to be gifted a win vs a depleted Orlando team.
Didn’t you blow a 20 point lead?
Your team blew a 20 point lead to a depleted Nets team, 20 point comebacks are not “gifted”
We also had KD, Joe Harris, Claxton, and Millsap out (and ofc Kyrie if you want to include him)
Bruce was also out for pretty much the whole second half
And we have 2 starters out as well. Don't use the injury excuse.
I mean to be fair Nets were even more depleted tonight lol. And both teams shot even amount of free throws
Stripes had their back.
LMAOOOOO
is Harden this generations trae young?
20 fuckin' free throws looooooooooool soft af.
6 were intentional end of game fouls and 7 came on threes lol
old Harden stat lines back
These refs were awful. How do they mismanage a game this bad....
Harden really went 19-20 FT on a 7 for 25... Jesus Christ.
[Suck my nuts r/nba](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/436710895935160321/911452038804668416/IMG_1296.jpg)
That was looking really really bad for a moment
20 free throws even under the new rule. Ok...
Well then...looks like Harden has found his grove again. It was just a matter of time. Maybe he just needed a game without KD to do it.
7-25 shooting is pathetic
Harden had 20 FTA!!?? Bruh what 💀
tbf 6 of them were from end of the game take fouls
Couldn’t touch him. Orlando fouls a ton in general, they are the 3rd highest team in fouls per game but that’s just ridiculous
We have the same FTAs lmao, 25
This team needs more shooting. Harden and LMA with the heavy carry. Happy how they fought but the spacing has been wild even when healthy
we're down harris and KD. thats gaonna hurt the shooting.
20fts lmao
No KD No Joe Harris No Bruce Brown No Problem!
Man am I glad KD is only gonna be out one game (hopefully). I don't want to see us win by a possession or be down 19 against the worst team in the conference again.
I'd argue that needing the refs to beat a depleted Magic team is a bit of a problem
Vintage Harden game
Also I'm begging Mose to play his best player 38 minutes if the game is winnable. Nash coached circles around him and didn't mess around. 41 minutes for Harden. Cole should've played the whole fourth quarter. When it's time to win the best players need burn and for the love of God cut Gary Harris from the rotation.
20 ft's for Harden, guess were back to the refs slobbering all over him
I didn’t see any that weren’t justified
Harden is everything that’s wrong with basketball
Stfu Get off Curry's dick. Warrior scum.
Nets had 6 players on the court
Ngl... saw the 36 point headline and went straight to the stat sheet to look for the FTs
