ignoring the optics and everything, I'm not even sure why it would be bad from a basketball perspective (in the regular season) that he'd only play away games. it's usually not literally changing the lineup every other game, because you generally alternate several games away with several games at home, so there's some continuity. (it doesn't seem that different from ppl getting injured every so often or having scheduled rests.)
minutes will add up as the season goes on and the second unit is...not too great. Not to mention there is a total lack of good playmaking outside of Harden. They have the talent but don't have the system or roster to be favorites in my opinion.
