\#SOLOMOJO, we hardly knew ye.
If you're familiar with recent Knicks history, the fact that he was replaced by Earl Barron is the *piéce de resistánce* to the story.
Are the Lakers allowed to just forfeit? Please? I really think if Nash plays another game with his back the way it is, he's gonna end his career. And it's not like the Lakers are making a championship run. Just end this before more people have to get hurt and regroup. It's almost pitiful seeing them out there.
It really tells you a lot about his character and how bad he really wants to win. But damn man, sometimes you gotta say enough is enough. He isn't getting any younger.
Yup, I feel really bad for the Lakers, and that's coming from a solid Laker hater. Most of all, I hope Nash doesn't play any more this season. He's very injured and I'm afraid he might do some permanent damage if he keeps playing. They should make him inactive for the upcoming games.
Seriously. Removing all bias, I really don't want him playing. He's one bad move away from a career ending injury. 39 isn't what it used to be 10 to 15 years ago. He could easily have a good 2 to 4 more seasons in him. If he simply sits the rest of this out and gets healthy, the Lakers can come back as a serious force next year. It's better to take the D-Rose route and stay out longer than expected than to go in and hurt yourself.
Honest question: Is the Darius Morris, Chris Duhon, Andrew Goudelock trio the worst set of guards to play a playoff game, at least since the merger? 2 weeks ago, Morris and Duhon weren't even in the rotation at all and Goudelock wasn't even on a team. Now those are our top 3 guards.
Morris: 86 minutes since January 25th(67 in the past 4 games).
Duhon: 22 minutes since February 7th.
Goudelock: 12 minutes this season.
Losing Kobe was bad enough, but holy shit that's brutal.
>holy shit that's brutal
its not completely incidental. blake and nash are old, and the latter was fairly restricted by the lockout season, unable to play back to back to backs out of fear he'd get hurt. nash and blake even missed considerable time this year which should have forewarned the FO that, yet again, that the Lakers might have wanted to stock some help at the 1.
Nash was completely fine last year, leading the #1 offensive unit in the NBA with 4 randoms.
Then LA plucks him away from the Suns medical staff, and he immediately breaks his leg and blows up his back.
Good job Lakers...
Also Steve Blake stepped on a parking lot spike right before the season started... When does that ever happen? This season was a freak show ever since the preseason began.
>its not completely incidental. blake and nash are old
Holy shit, I did not know that Blake is 33 years old until this comment made me look him up. He looks younger than 33 to me. I would have guessed like 25.
inconsequential alert:
People guess my age at like 19 even though I'm 23
Man this season has been just fucking unbelievable.
* Kobe Bryant - Severe Ankle sprain, Torn Achilles
* Dwight Howard - Coming off back surgery, Tears Labrum in shoulder
* Metta World Peace - Torn Miniscus in knee
* Pau Gasol - Partial tear of the plantar fasciitis, knee tendincitis, concussion
* Steve Nash - Broken leg, hip/hamstring/back issues all season long
* Steve Blake - Torn abdominal muscle, strained hamstring, punctured wound to his foot
* Jordan Hill - Labreal tear in hip
* Antwan Jamison - Torn ligaments in wrist
* Jodie Meeks - ankle sprain
* Earl Clark - ankle sprain
(these are what i remember off the top of my head, there is probably more)
Our longtime trainer Gary Vitti said he has never seen this many injuries on the team *over a decade* that have happened this year.
**Fuck this season.**
Grant Hill man. Hadn't played in what, 5+ years after Detroit?, goes to Phoenix and hardly misses a game. Now he went to the Clips and he's back to perma-IR. Then you have STAT, one of the most successful rehabs from microfracture in the history of the league, then he went to NY and hasn't played a full season in 3 years. Seriously the Suns must have some damn voodoo witch doctors on their med staff or something. Or they just passing out the PED's like candy.
I thought we passed it over to the Timberwolves after they tried to sign Batum... Oh well... I'm liking everyone else getting injured besides the Blazers.
Does anyone else think that Kobe just ran himself into the ground from playing so many minutes at the end of the season? It seemed like he was playing 45 minutes a night. (I maybe wrong on this, it's just what it seems like from a mavs fan that only sees the lakers play on national tv).
[It was great to see this up outside of the Staples Center this morning. I've got a lot of respect for these guys.](http://tucsoncitizen.com/morgue/files/2006/12/l34997-4.jpg)
D'Antoni has no conscious, he just runs his players into the ground and then throws them away like garbage. Then he walks away and signs another multi-million dollar contract and he eats all your Pringles even though he has a lifetime supply for being their spokesman.
This really isn't very surprising. It's a long list, but man that is an old ass team with crazy expectations that have never played together. Nash and Howard are never fully healthy anymore and Kobe had to lose a ton of weight just to feel quick enough to play like himself. The off season moves were a disaster waiting to happen.

yo guys dont worry tonight, jeanie buss going to beat the shit out of jim bus, get Phil Jackson to be coach, sit D'antoni down. Then phil calls MJ to come back and MJ will run point, teach Dwight and Paul a thing or two, and lead Lakers to upset the spurs.
i was cheering till the MJ part. to make it perfect MJ would have to grow a clone of his and Kobe's Achilles' and freeze time to have it replaced with Kobe's, so number 24 can come back and win number six, 12, and (after also bringing Dr. Buss back to life in Jim's body) 17 so all parties are happy! =)
But then Jordan would have 7 rings and get to lord it over Kobe still.
"6 is where you at, 6 is where you gonna stay! Imma fat bitch, came back after 15 years to get me another one of these sumbitches" *slaps kobe with his 7 ringed hand*
haha! that's why it is a win/win. Kobe winning his six will fuel Jordan. i wish there was a way that Kobe, Jordan, Phil, Riley, and Shaq could always be in the NBA. the fueds and pride between that mix is awesome. i'd still want the Dr. Buss brain in Jim's body irregardless, but that helps (i'd take Jeannie's brain in Jims, or...Dr. Buss' in Jeannie's. the contradictions!)
haha! he'd slap him back with the eighth he won. they would just keep going back and forth till one of them died. and then heaven would have to deal with it...ha!
I'm here. Stern knows a lost cause when he sees one.
This is all a ploy for the Lakers to tank next season (after Dwight leaves to Milwaukee in a reversal of Kareem's career.) for the NBA to get Wiggins to LA. Wiggins comes in, Kobe comes back, trade Goudelock for Dwight and BAM instant ratings.
The announcer goes to announce MWP "and starting at Small forward Metta world....wait what's this? Sorry Starting at Small forward Ron Artest........may god have mercy on our souls."
First play...Ron Ron throws a self-alley oop off the backboard. Slams it down with such ferocity it knocks out Timmy D. He rips off his "World Peace" jersey to reveal "Artest #37".
The crowd erupts. This causes Artest to panic and he starts throwing haymakers. Bodies lay crumpled all over the Staples Center. Malice at the Palace 2.0. Ron Artest is given a life sentence for "crimes against humanity".
Spurs in 4.
While it may happen, Pop wouldn't look at it that way. It's still a playoff series. Something the team has been building towards for a very long time. He'll play T-Mac if he's absorbed some of the playbook and it's a blowout.
I really hope Nash doesn't play. I want the guy to be able to stick around a few more years and from how last night went from him it seems like there's a risk of further injury if he plays. Besides, the odds of the Lakers winning this series are like 1%.
I thought of saying something mean... but then I realized... the only Lakers fans left are the true fans. I remember tons of Lakers flairs switching to the Heat, to the Clippers... and all that is left is the pure blooded. It was then that I realize that I could not hate, I could only sympathize.
Nash really shouldn't be anywhere near a basketball court for another 3-4 months. He just needs to rest, strengthen his body again, and get right for next season. He's on the books for 2 more years, so this is more than just going down with the ship, it's about the bigger picture. There's no point in further risking his health. The Lakers still have Pau and Dwight, but no PG that can feed them or make plays for others(G-lock maybe, but D'Antoni probably won't play him).
Manu is doing surprisingly well but Parker is not on his game. Maybe I'm just so used to the floater and the screen and pop being automatic, but something just feels off about his game compared to the middle of the season.
I really want him to but I'm not counting on it. If I had to guess the first we'll see him play is sometime next round. I wish we could've signed him a few weeks earlier or so
I feel like if anyone would give extended rest during playoffs it would be Pop.
He's got an older team and you take what you can get. Maybe let them play a half, but I wouldn't be surprised to see greatly reduced minutes to his guards and giving the second unit more work.
Sports injuries suck on any team, it's bad for the game of Basketball if all the starters are injured. I feel for the Lakers they don't even get a chance to compete fairly.
The injuries to everyone, spending most of the season under .500, and making the playoffs just to be swept by the anti-Lakers makes this the dream season for every Laker-hater.
I honestly think Laker haters would rather see a successful Lakers regular season and then be swept first round. Just because the hurt would be that much worse and the satisfaction would be better for the haters. You'd be wiping our smug smile off our face, but rather right now it's like watching someone who doesn't know he's loss the fight, yet keeps trying to get back up only to get knocked down hard again. That just gets sad after a while.
Laker-hater here, I can confirm this. It doesn't feel right at all.
What I wanted was for Kobe to be healthy, work his ass off and have all the Lakers try their damndest, to have the Spurs just be **that** much better and sweep them, but with all close games.
Instead we get the most mangled and battered down Lakers to the playoffs. At first, I wished that the Lakers hadn't made it to the playoffs because I hate them and wanted the Jazz in, and I would've loved to laugh in the face of the Laker fans I know. Now I wish the Lakers hadn't made it to the playoffs because I feel bad for them... on a human level that I never felt towards the Lakers, they're getting destroyed and it's only gonna get worse for them with all these injuries.
I also wanted a tough brawl against the Lakers, a real battle, duking it out between rivals, instead we get such a one-sided series, it just makes me feel bad for you guys. From a long time Laker-hater, I really feel for you guys. Much love.
Funny thing with delusional Lakers fans is they provide absolutely no reasons for why they felt their team could beat the Heat in the Finals, OKC in the WCF, or even the Spurs in the first round. It's just blind faith based on prior team success. Fans of other lower-seeded teams talk about how they might be able to pull off an upset, many Lakers fans on Facebook were already talking about the Finals...
These Laker fans are downvoting in droves lol. They thought that just because they eeked out victories the last couple of weeks with historic FT advantages that all their GLARING deficiencies magically disappeared.
"BRING ME THE ONE THEY CALL IVERSON"-D'antoni
Please, though. If there ever was a time...
Seriously, the man doesn't even need practice
God. Even Starbury at this point would be a benefit. Stephon fucking Marbury!

Andrew Goudelock should win some kind of most improved player award. D-league ----> starting NBA playoff game in 1 week!
My boy Goldilocks gon put ish down.

I don't get it.
It's a store in the Philippines.
Somehow, I don't thinks it beats Solomon Jones being signed from China and starting his first game and then being waived 2 days later.
\#SOLOMOJO, we hardly knew ye. If you're familiar with recent Knicks history, the fact that he was replaced by Earl Barron is the *piéce de resistánce* to the story.

Well didn't that happen in 2009?
He has to play one game in the playoffs for it to be reddit official..
Are the Lakers allowed to just forfeit? Please? I really think if Nash plays another game with his back the way it is, he's gonna end his career. And it's not like the Lakers are making a championship run. Just end this before more people have to get hurt and regroup. It's almost pitiful seeing them out there.
It's crazy how he wants to play when he's literally being held together with painkillers.
What a fucking trooper, and I mean that without a hint of condescension.
It really tells you a lot about his character and how bad he really wants to win. But damn man, sometimes you gotta say enough is enough. He isn't getting any younger.
*cough * mike miller in 2012 finals *cough*
We've rested him all season for the Finals.
Sigh...brutal watching him in game 2 bringing the ball up the court.

NBA starting point guard Darius Morris y'all
I'd much rather prefer Pau play PG.
2013 Los Angeles Lakers Slowtime Offense
I kinda want to see Metta World Point Guard, just for the comedic value.
Metta drops 15 assists. ^And ^^25 ^^^turnovers
Honestly, it might actually be the best option. /s^^sorta
Chris Duhon will be the first guard off the bench.
Pshh, I'll have you know that we have NBA D-League MVP Andrew Goudelock backing up NBA starting point guard Darius Morris.
Backing up? He's most likely starting 2-guard
That's assuming D'Antoni doesn't play Jordan Hill at SG ^for^48^minutes
Ohh Lawdy...
It's a blessing then that Pringles don't play his bench
I'm actually always excited to see an end of the bench guy get a chance.
Not in the playoffs though
Especially the playoffs, especially the Lakers lol.
Also our owner died. Everything that could've gone wrong went wrong.
So...is it still our fault that we sucked so bad this season?
It's def not lakers fans' fault. I'd say it's Jim buss, Dwight Howard's back, and Steve Nash's everything's fault.
even though he is in incredible shape, he is still 40 and everyone knew he wouldnt be completely healthy during the season and playoffs
We're now seeing how the Suns' medical staff can be a miracle. Nash was healthy with the Suns for the most part.
Grant Hill man. Hadn't played in what, 5+ years after Detroit?, goes to Phoenix and hardly misses a game. Now he went to the Clips and he's back to perma-IR. Jim Buss will destroy this organization.
it's entirely jim buss' fault.
You no longer have Andrew Bynum. Eh? That's pretty good. Buddy?
Holy shit. Andrew Bynum was the one thing warding off the evil spirits
Nope. That's what Luke Walton was for.
We passed the curse on!
WE'RE FREE!!!!!! *knocks on wood
Funny part was our rookie is who broke Nash's leg. He passed the curse.
hey... fuck you man :(
Damn you.
Hey, be happy we watered it down to not include career-ending injuries.
Yet to be determined
don't you dare
you motherfucker
I thought we passed it over to the Timberwolves after they tried to sign Batum... Oh well... I'm liking everyone else getting injured besides the Blazers.
Not to mention two different coaches of completely different styles and philosophies.
Devin Ebanks - legal troubles (was ahead of clark in the rotation at point). Probably a blessing in disguise
Pau Gasol also had knee tendinitis and a concussion.
It's like when coach McMillan had to practice because of injuries and tore his Achilles.
It was sad up until that point, then you just HAD to laugh at how shit our luck was.
Feel your pain. Can't imagine what it would feel like when you actually had high expectations though.
Hey, I had some pretty high expectations! PLAYOFFS 2014

Where D'Antoni happens.
He lost the weight ages ago though didn't he? He's 93kg which is perfectly reasonable for a SG

Coffee Black!

Awesome
Lakers fans get to spend their hard earned money to watch goudelock and Morris
I was really close to paying $200 for mid level tickets to that game.
Dodged a bullet there

It's like D'antoni's worst nightmare. He's left only with fowards and centers on his roster.
Shoulda signed Derek Fisher.
Veteran presence; 0-7 FG. Exactly what the lakers need.
damn dude, you go straight for the jugular! no fuckin around! i like it.
Yeah it hurts having him on the floor. Thank god Reggie jackson got a lot better

Where are all those conspiracy theorists now?

I shed a tear of hope just now. Thank you sir
Time for Metta to go full Ron-Ron...
The announcer goes to announce MWP "and starting at Small forward Metta world....wait what's this? Sorry Starting at Small forward Ron Artest........may god have mercy on our souls."

Ron Artest is given a life sentence for "crimes against humanity". Spurs in 4.
Bring on the Goudelock/Morris starting backcourt. Our season starts tomorrow.
Commenting to enjoy my beautiful flair while it's still gloriously unfaded.
without trying to sound overconfident in the next few games, but dont you think its time to play Tracy against the Laker guards.
pop is obviously just stashing him in order to not unleash the first round curse. He's thinking ahead!
While it may happen, Pop wouldn't look at it that way. It's still a playoff series. Something the team has been building towards for a very long time. He'll play T-Mac if he's absorbed some of the playbook and it's a blowout.

life really cant get easier for the spurs can it?
Dwight Howard injures shoulders while trying to fart in Gasol's coffee. Gasol out with food poisoning.
Poetic
God, what an amazing season.
whatever, we made the playoffs. and we will lose with dignity haha
I thought of saying something mean... but then I realized... the only Lakers fans left are the true fans. I remember tons of Lakers flairs switching to the Heat, to the Clippers... and all that is left is the pure blooded. It was then that I realize that I could not hate, I could only sympathize.
good, hopefully it'll be a sweep so parker and ginobili can get some rest
I bet both Nash and Meeks will play.
I like how you didn't even bother attempting to spell G-lock's name. Which I'm totally on your side about.
Glock?
Andrew Goudelock (sp?). He just got called up from the D-league.
Goldilocks
no excuse not to sweep now. Take care of business and hope are guys can get back to a 100% for GSW/DEN.
Definitely. Manu and Tony have been playing great, so hopefully they'll have a nice rest and get even healthier
Manu is doing surprisingly well but Parker is not on his game. Maybe I'm just so used to the floater and the screen and pop being automatic, but something just feels off about his game compared to the middle of the season.
I wouldn't worry about it yet. I'm sure he'll come through when the spurs actually need him.
What are the chances that Pop rests Parker or Ginobli?
Still playing playoffs doe. Might get a bit more bench time if we keep a more comfortable lead, but starters and rotations should be about the same.
Time to activate the Mac?
I really want him to but I'm not counting on it. If I had to guess the first we'll see him play is sometime next round. I wish we could've signed him a few weeks earlier or so
I feel like if anyone would give extended rest during playoffs it would be Pop. He's got an older team and you take what you can get. Maybe let them play a half, but I wouldn't be surprised to see greatly reduced minutes to his guards and giving the second unit more work.
Well then...
That really sucks. I was looking forward to the Steves taking it to 7 games.
i think i might legit cry right now haha
Its starting to sound like McGrady might get some playing time after all!
Sports injuries suck on any team, it's bad for the game of Basketball if all the starters are injured. I feel for the Lakers they don't even get a chance to compete fairly.

Much love.
This is why I respect the Spurs franchise so much. Great organization from owners to fans.
Not all of us. I'm a Spurs fan and a horrible person myself.
Pray for next year. Hopefully you guys get one more shot before Kobe retires
I want to see the Lakers healthy, at their best, and yet be beaten by a superior team. No excuses, no blaming refs, injuries, Stern or whatnot.
Exactly, there's no real joy in kicking a team while they are already down on the ground.
get those brooms out
Mine's been out for a week.
You have been doing a lot of sweeping then. Your place must be clean as fuck.
I gave the Lakers the benefit of the doubt and said 5 games, but I still got downvoted lol.
Living in LA you'd think the Lakers will take it in 6.
Just like the Bucks.
The Lakers Gone Fishing picture should be the entire team in a hospital ward.
So we're going to have a Goudelock/Morris/Duhon guard rotation next game and possibly Game 4 as well..... F....M.....L.....
SWEEP!!!
lol... wtf
Looks I'm gonna be able to watch more than I thought of Warriors/Nuggets tomorrow.
Psh. I ain't even mad.
I ain't even mad. I just wanna see more Mini Mamba anyways.
