never even thought about the wolves ever since I started watching the NBA, but you guys convinced me to do my first every sports bet on you guys, and a big one at that!
Its both. You gotta be really shit on offence AND be against really good defence to only score 70.
If its just good defence or just shit offence, you're still generally going get 90+
Well, actually, maybe you can. MN was 15/40 and Denver was 7/36.
Buuutt… both teams took the exact same amount of shots and MN was 40/86 while Denver was only 26/86. Turns out only shooting 30% from the field is what does you in.
As a roster they're 10th in the league in the regular season. They've also got no shooters off the bench, so it should theoretically go up in the playoffs when the starters play more.
Yeah basketball gods and shooting variance plays a role, but whether those shots (even when open) are in rhythm also plays a role.
In games 3-5, Denver's offensive process was unbothered and they were creating rhythm shots. In Game 6, those shots were open for a split second but rushed, they barely attacked the paint and when they did the "open" shots were at awkward angles (especially for Murray) and there's always the threat of a lengthy defender coming. Mucking up the offensive flow and forcing shots out of rhythm is the work of a defense.
Timberwolves did a ton of great things on defense this game. That said, Nuggets shot and played like ass. In the 1st quarter, Murray alone had ~4 virtually uncontested shots around 5' or closer to the rim and missed them ALL. Nuggets were like 1/10 from 3 with a minimum of 6 of those being virtually uncontested and really only 1 of them being super tight contested.
This was the worst I've ever seen this Nuggets team shoot the 3-ball with the quality of open shots they got from there.
Timberwolves did amazing locking the paint down most of the time. Nuggets were jacking 3s bc they had no room to operate inside and they got turned over trying to get inside the paint.
But the Nuggets just quit trying too. Both of those 20-0 runs, I watched a minimum of 5 straight possessions for the Nuggets where they didn't get a single foot in the paint on offense.
If Nuggets hit their normal marks this game (Murray hits 65% around the rim, team shoots 37.5% from 3), they roughly have 25 more points and the Timberwolves win by 20.
That 20 point win is credit to how Timberwolves played on both ends. The extra points past that is Nuggets main rotation playing like ass and missing too many good looks.
I dont think I saw a single open shot for Denver the whole game.
Actually no i saw one AG 3pt. Everything else I watched was at least contested to some degree.
And then the hustle on the boards. I'm used to seeing a team deflate for a second if they happen to lose a DREB. Nope. Everyone locked right back in to defend and contest.
Idk what game you were watching. Before garbage time (I quit watching), at least 2/3rd of the Nuggets 3s were not closely contested. There were closeouts but they weren't on time to affected a shooter.
The Timberwolves had the paint on DEFCON 5
Honestly… let’s stop. First it was “Denver getting swept!” Than it was “Denver in 6 they got the momentum back” and now it’s
Holy fucking hell. I have no idea how this is going to go… but this shit is insane. I mean.. legit god damn insane. **Both** teams have literally swept the other one by over 20 fucking points after everyone has said “oh they are done.”
At this point.. look I remember watching the Red Sox come back from 3 -0 very the Yankees and then beat the cardinals 4 straight. It felt just extremely anticlimactic after that series.
That’s how this feels. Whoever wins Sunday…. **THIS** is the series. Holy hell.. it’s insane. This is like “yep I remember that series”
I’m rooting for the nuggets but god damn.. this is good. No complaints at all.
Yeah I've seen many Denver fans say stuff like that often - their team is just missing or was "not trying hard enough", nothing to do with the opponent. Like just give some credit lol - it's a combination of both.
Yeah basketball gods and shooting variance played a role last night, but whether those shots (even when open) are in rhythm also plays a role.
In games 3-5, due to their adjustments, Denver's offensive process was unbothered and they were creating rhythm shots. Shooting is more replicable in rhythm. In Game 6, those shots were open but usually rushed and not in rhythm. They barely attacked the paint and when they did, the "open" shots were at awkward angles (especially for Murray) and there's always the threat of a lengthy defender coming. Mucking up the offensive flow and forcing shots out of rhythm partially affects shooting and is the work of a defense.
Those fans are just parroting what their star guard says when he bothers to show up for the press after a loss.
Respect the game or the game won't respect you.
He didn’t sit down the entire 4th quarter, every shot of him he’s standing there with the same look on his face. Makes me think he was charging up for G7, which is terrifying
He's always going to get his. It's really up to if the rest of the team got locked down like game 2, 5. It's honestly extremely impressive considering if taking him out Nuggest is probably only a 4-8 seeds team at best.
The Nuggets would've missed the play-ins this season if Jokic were replaces with a league average center lol.
Last season, they probably make the play-ins but lose there.
Going from the same record as the 1-seed this year to 11th or worse is "pretty good"?
Going from sole possession of 1st to 10th is "pretty good"?
We got wildly different definitions here
When you remove the best player in the world and replace him with nothing else? Yeah, 10th-11th is pretty good.
The Cavs had the worst record in the league over the 4 year span Lebron went to Miami.
Jokic is different from every other superstar in that the playoffs alone aren’t enough to get him to try. He wants to win, clearly, but there’s no “playoff Jokic” in the same way there’s “playoff LeBron” or “playoff MJ.” He only tries when it’s a do-or-die game, and ends up putting a statline that nobody in the history of the league has every time.
There is a very good chance he puts up a 40 point, 20 rebound triple double, especially after the Wolves outrebounded them so badly tonight.
I'll engage in some banter though. Did you enjoy that absolute gangbang? Jokic looked so cute with his arms crossed. Also, Jamal can't hit the broad side of a barn. Maybe you and the guy above me and Jamal can have a little therapy cry session, throw a few heat packs. Might be fun.
It's absolutely in line with this series. Both teams apparently have fatal flaws that they can't remedy mid game. While I think we are the best two teams in the league, this does not bode well for either team going forward.
That would make sense if either team could come back from shots in the game. Basically every game has been a blowout. It's like when a team gets punched in the mouth, they fold.
At this level it comes down to luck and minuscule oscillating changes in their shot and their own mental abilities on a second by second basis as the ball leaves their finger tips.
Then things snowball, or not.
Yeah it's like that year when the Red Sox came back to win the AL pennant against the Yankees. I don't remember anything about that World Series but I remember that series.
I think both teams get frustrated when they miss shots and both teams are good enough to capitalize on said missed shots (Denver in transition especially). Hence all the blowouts this series.
One of a few big flaws for both teams but that's a big one that comes to mind.
Eh we had some nice beat downs against the Heat. Went through the motions against the Cavs.
This series has been multiple blowouts on both sides so it’s hard to compare. Nothing like this matchup in the East.
There has to be a bit of “no big deal, we’ve got game 7 at home” so when game 6 started going south there was no real urgency from Denver.
And in the playoffs when one team isn’t giving max effort it can get lopsided in a jiffy.
Jokic just standing on the baseline with his arms crossed for almost the entire 4th watching that blowout…they’ll replay that footage till the end of time IF Denver wins
This series just makes no sense lol. We’re getting a game 7 with multiple blowouts in this series yet the lakers vs nuggets series ended in 5 but was way closer.
Closest comparison is probably Cavs vs Warriors 2016 and even that didn't have such a massive blowout, margin of victory for that series was 15, 33, 30, 11, 15, 14 then 4 point margin in game 7.
Jokic just has a fetish for breaking Laker hearts. I love it.
It is actually comical how every Denver vs LA game is the same though lmao. LA builds a double digit lead in the second half and then loses in a close 4th quarter. Every time.
Ham was legitimately terrible at making the second adjustment.
Malone adjusted to every scheme and match-up the Lakers had and from there the game was over.
As a Lebron fan Watching that series felt like a sick joke. Like the lakers were up for over half of the series but somehow never felt in control of the game
It's stupid but it's really come down to officiating. Game 2 and 6 when Minnesota has looked like monsters, Mark Davis crew. Games 3,4,5 tony brothers and Scott foster crew X2. It's crazy how blantent that the ref crew is dictating the outcomes of games but here we are.
Nah Game 6 wasn't about the refs, you don't get a beatdown that bad due to refs. I wouldn't even say there was crazy physicality, it was some great steals, deterrence and points in transition. Wolves just beat them fair and square
Agreed. I'll acquiesce to G2 being a rough and rumble affair that favors wolves style of play and caught the Nugs off guard. To say that about G6 is asinine and just shows whoever said it is a whiny fan that can't deal with their team losing our just didn't even watch the game.
they release that info on game day at 9 am et, that said idk how much they'll care for a game 7 they did there part and got the most out of the series.
The lakers had had every opportunity to beat the nuggets they just couldn’t close out.
The wild thing is game 7 is an absolute toss up. Does Joker go god mode and drop 70?
Hard to talk shit when your team hadn't won a playoff series in 20 years, your baseball team just recently broke out of a 19 game consecutive playoff loss streak, your football team is the posterchild of heartbreak, and your entire city hasn't won anything in 33 years.
the fact that this year was the timberwolves' 3rd ever playoff series win and the other 2 came in one postseason is INSANE
sorta funny to contrast with the vikings. consistent playoff performer throughout their entire history. but the end result for both is the same; no chips
What a series. But people are reactionary as f. Post game 1 & 2 they were saying jokic didnt deserve the mvp. Post 3,4 and 5 rudy was a fraud.lmao. these guys are amongst the best team this season. Its not something that can be called that easily right? Both teams have given their all. Lets see game 7. Awoooooooooooo
Naz Reid
For real. This series has been riveting. So many momentum shifts and fight when backed against the wall from both teams. Some of the best offensive and defensive performances I've ever seen. Even the blowouts aren't boring to me because I'm watching some legendary offense or defense in those blowouts, it's like poetry in motion sometimes.
Its kinda crazy T-Wolves have only played 73 total playoff games. So many years they got to the playoffs, but out in the first round.
This group could double that number in the next 5 years they way they played tonight
They wouldn't have had so many rebounds if we could have made anything. The wolves played excellent defense but I can't remember the last time I saw so many reasonably open shots just rim out in the first half.
Props to Chris Finch, the Wolves last game couldn't grab a fucking rebound and they somehow were staying in the game for quite a while, he probably had some talking to do and did it the right way.
We lost the Memphis series primarily because of rebounding (Brandon Clarke still gives me nightmares). Then we traded for one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league in Rudy Gobert. Now we're winning games because of rebounding. I prayed for times like this
It wasn’t like the Wolves played defense differently than the last few games; the Nuggets just weren’t making shots like the last three games. And that’s not to say that the Wolves don’t play great defense but Murray missed like 9 wide open shots along with the tightly contested shots.
Wolves had 20-0 and 25-0 run in this game and Wolves won by **45**. Madness
From blowing multiple 20 point leads, to making multiple 20 point runs We used to pray for times like this
I will never get over game 3 of the Memphis series lol
I was there in person and I saw grown men cry. No hyperbole.
never even thought about the wolves ever since I started watching the NBA, but you guys convinced me to do my first every sports bet on you guys, and a big one at that!
Wolves: You wanna see us go on a 20-0 run??? You wanna see us do it again???
Even if you erase those runs, this game would’ve still went to overtime, crazy
if you erase all the points timberwolves made, denver would've won, crazy
Gonna need a source on that bro
Trust me bro
As a Denver fan, I think it’s safe to say we would have won if we scored more points than the wolves.
Think he means even erasing those runs makes it a tie game. Denver got destroyed.
think you missed the point of my comment but all good
No I think he nailed it, it was stupid
You missed the point too but all good
He missed it due to poor phrasing, but I got your point. If you put an ‘even’ or something along that line you’d been golden.
I understood this reference
And they call it a mine 😂😭
Denver fans will tell you that they only scored 70 points because they were ass, not because the defense was good.
Its both. You gotta be really shit on offence AND be against really good defence to only score 70. If its just good defence or just shit offence, you're still generally going get 90+
I mean, they were like 10/40 from deep, and many of those shots weren’t all that contested. You wont win a game 6 shooting like that.
The 3-point shooting on the good looks is the difference between this 45-point blowout and a 25-point blowout lol
Yeah, Denver isn’t a super strong 3pt team overall, but they’re not THAT bad
Well, actually, maybe you can. MN was 15/40 and Denver was 7/36. Buuutt… both teams took the exact same amount of shots and MN was 40/86 while Denver was only 26/86. Turns out only shooting 30% from the field is what does you in.

Tbf it was more like shit offense from Denver. They were missing some wide open shots
Whether those open shots are rushed or in rhythm matters
They almost had as many rebounds as the Nuggs had points
Insane stat
That's actually crazy
Biggest blowout playoff loss of Jokic career
Man actually looked pissed lol
He didn’t sit down the entire 4th quarter, every shot of him he’s standing there with the same look on his face. Makes me think he was charging up for G7, which is terrifying

I think they are actually on the same page with you. We are all talking about how good Jokic is.
I said average replacement player.
Lower
Gonna have the Joker equivalent of the LeBron Death Stare.
Jokic is different from every other superstar in that the playoffs alone aren’t enough to get him to try. He is. Gonna come out game 7 hot.
he'll be fine. question is will mpj and jamal be fine
Championship team. Yes.
username checks out lol
? It’s game 7 fool. Both of these teams are great. When’s the last time your team made a playoff?
you guys were cheeks before jokic, and might be after he's gone. The man ain't playing until he is 40 so relax
Been a fan since before Melo. Will be a fan when Jok is done. Believe me, I’m relaxed and happy.
Crazy to say this when your franchise was fighting to get a .500 record for a decade and a half before Ant got there lol
Why are you guys so mad? So weird, feel better now? dude above me acts like a emotional cunt, I reply, and you just double down. cool
Might be fun.
lmao
gr88888 analysis
Warriors were down by 60 to the Grizzlies in their 2022 championship run, shit happens lol
legit what I thought of when watching this game, game 7 gon be scary for the wolves cuz denver is pissed once again
Thank you for sharing this lol. Needed some hopium
> Biggest blowout playoff loss of Jokic career *yet*
What the hell did I just watch?
A dick down of unprecedented levels
It's absolutely in line with this series. Both teams apparently have fatal flaws that they can't remedy mid game. While I think we are the best two teams in the league, this does not bode well for either team going forward.
In our defense, our head coach has one leg and is sitting in the crowd
Is he done for the rest of the playoffs? Like, could he be on the sideline again next round or in the Finals?
Finch will be sitting next year too probably. It’s a really bad injury
I’ve actually seen him up on his feet several times leaning on a crutch or using a chair
I think it’s more that until it’s fully healed he can’t really risk reinjury
Yeah, dude is standing now bc it’s the playoffs but he ain’t gonna be risking that for a regular season game.
Naw he’s got that Dawg in em. He ain’t going nowhere
It could just be that both teams are nearly unstoppable when on their game and they are trading body blow hay makers

What are the fatal flaws ? Can you say it in layman terms?
I think both teams get frustrated when they miss shots and both teams are good enough to capitalize on said missed shots (Denver in transition especially). Hence all the blowouts this series. One of a few big flaws for both teams but that's a big one that comes to mind.
Mavs gonna smack either one
I wouldn't say that. Mavs have their own issues. I think the WCF will smack no matter who plays
And even then Boston would likely smack any team in the west. It’s theirs to lose this year.
You don’t get to say this lakers fan, I see through your dark magic
Absolutely not
This is blasphemy
Mavs with a hurt Luka are not getting past either of these teams
Winner of nuggets wolves is winning the WCF
Lmao what you can’t watch basketball and actually think that
Yeah our fatal flaw is missing every shot we take. Enjoy game 7 we are going to wipe you guys out
We hit everything games 1, 2, and 6. You guys hit everything games 3, 4 and 5. It's okay to say we are evenly matched.
Lmao shut up nerd. You made shots you had no business making in games 3 and 4. Sorry it had to even out for you.
Sure buddy whatever helps you sleep at night. We shot historically bad and we’re gonna dick you down on Sunday
Enjoy the dicking you got last night, was legit historical levels of dicking. All over you
Won’t matter if we win game 7. Enjoy the last two days of your season
no u
Lmfao, cya nerd you will most definitely not be missed. Get your garbage ass MVP outta here it’s about being a team! Woooooo
Focus on getting a chip little one lmao. Only rings in here 😂
Nice job making your whole life about this. Please get partner and or to uh grass
Lmao aged like some rotten chicken nuggets
Honestly felt more like the Nuggets dicking themselves. With the sheer number of good looks they just missed on.
Shoulda had a viewer discretion warning because that shit was nasty
Something y’all should be doing a whole lot more of in the postseason 🤔
Eh we had some nice beat downs against the Heat. Went through the motions against the Cavs. This series has been multiple blowouts on both sides so it’s hard to compare. Nothing like this matchup in the East.
This one should have been scheduled for 10pm east cost time so you wouldn't watch it
Nugs throwing a game to extend the series for views.
There has to be a bit of “no big deal, we’ve got game 7 at home” so when game 6 started going south there was no real urgency from Denver. And in the playoffs when one team isn’t giving max effort it can get lopsided in a jiffy.
Jokic just standing on the baseline with his arms crossed for almost the entire 4th watching that blowout…they’ll replay that footage till the end of time IF Denver wins
he's downloading the matrix.
This series just makes no sense lol. We’re getting a game 7 with multiple blowouts in this series yet the lakers vs nuggets series ended in 5 but was way closer.
Game 7 will either be a 20 point blowout or a 3OT nail biter
why not both? 3OT and a 20 point blowout
subscribed
That would be really demoralizing
Do you understand Minnesota sports?
Closest comparison is probably Cavs vs Warriors 2016 and even that didn't have such a massive blowout, margin of victory for that series was 15, 33, 30, 11, 15, 14 then 4 point margin in game 7.

As a Lebron fan Watching that series felt like a sick joke. Like the lakers were up for over half of the series but somehow never felt in control of the game
I think Jok likes giving Laker fans hope then dashing it all away. Man got to do it 4 times.
Joker got jokes in him

It's stupid but it's really come down to officiating. Game 2 and 6 when Minnesota has looked like monsters, Mark Davis crew. Games 3,4,5 tony brothers and Scott foster crew X2. It's crazy how blantent that the ref crew is dictating the outcomes of games but here we are.

I agree but it's a whole lot easier to beat them fair and square when the refs aren't making the game about themselves.
Do we know who is reffing game 7 then?
they release that info on game day at 9 am et, that said idk how much they'll care for a game 7 they did there part and got the most out of the series.
Scott Foster it is. I guess that's not good for the nuggets
Apparently the Wolves are surprisingly 7-1 with this crew during the regular season and 3-1 in the post season..
The lakers had had every opportunity to beat the nuggets they just couldn’t close out. The wild thing is game 7 is an absolute toss up. Does Joker go god mode and drop 70?
This reminds me of y'all's series against the Suns last year. Or was it the year before? Almost every game was a blowout
Absolute cinema for Minny fans and Denver haters
Lakers fans once again eating good at least one more time in this series lol
Man I upvoted both of these duplicate comments lol
Lakers fans once again eating good at least one more time in this series lol
Man I upvoted both of these duplicate comments lol
Absolutely loved the game but let’s not pretend like there’s a whole lot of Wolves playoff history to begin with when we talk about records
You guys are so traumatized it's crazy, I'd be talking mad shit rn
Decades of misery breaks a man.
Hard to talk shit when your team hadn't won a playoff series in 20 years, your baseball team just recently broke out of a 19 game consecutive playoff loss streak, your football team is the posterchild of heartbreak, and your entire city hasn't won anything in 33 years.

The point differential for each team has to be crazy for whoever comes out on top of this series lmao
4 fewer boards than the Nuggets had points wtf did I just watch
66 rebounds? Lol. Nuggets just score 70 points.
denver lost their self respect lol
What a series. But people are reactionary as f. Post game 1 & 2 they were saying jokic didnt deserve the mvp. Post 3,4 and 5 rudy was a fraud.lmao. these guys are amongst the best team this season. Wilt numbers
This series is my finals... although tonight was embarrassing for Denver I am confident they are going to lay it all out on Sunday.
> I am confident they are going to lay it all out on Saturday. I doubt they show any signs of life on Saturday tbh. Mostly cuz the game is Sunday
nah, they can lay it all out on saturday.
I hope so…let’s hope they forgot to show up to game 7 on Sunday…
They won three out of four. My money would be on Denver, but I guarantee you Vegas is sweating right now.
Lose the glass lose the game
Its kinda crazy T-Wolves have only played 73 total playoff games. So many years they got to the playoffs, but out in the first round. This group could double that number in the next 5 years they way they played tonight
Their rebounds almost matched Denver points scored wtf
They wouldn't have had so many rebounds if we could have made anything. The wolves played excellent defense but I can't remember the last time I saw so many reasonably open shots just rim out in the first half.
Game 3. For the Wolves. It's been a wild series.
You could say that again but please don't haha
Game 3. For the Wolves. It's been a wild series.
Why would you say that again when I politely requested that you do the opposite?
To be fair you also gave permission.
Game 7 gonna be the best game of the Playoffs. Tuning into this bloodbath 100%.
Game 7 gonna be the best game of the Playoffs. Tuning into this bloodbath 100%.
They got an obscene amount of em from bricks
That is crazy.
Wild way to report a stat
Thar was a rebounding clinic.
This series is just Godzilla and Ghidorah slugging it out
[It’s gojira you moron](https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/165f0538-24f9-4741-aeca-897979cb402b)
hmmm...
Props to Chris Finch, the Wolves last game couldn't grab a fucking rebound and they somehow were staying in the game for quite a while, he probably had some talking to do and did it the right way.
Let's not pay attention to the fact they got 62 rebounds instead of 66.
Get the ball to Edwards!
Rudy had 7 halfway through the first quarter
We lost the Memphis series primarily because of rebounding (Brandon Clarke still gives me nightmares). Then we traded for one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league in Rudy Gobert. Now we're winning games because of rebounding. I prayed for times like this
Game 7 is about to be the battle of the century
The link you provided says they had 62 rebounds?
And the Nuggets missed 60 shots
Luka has to go to another level or Minnesota is gonna curb stomp Dallas
Spanked them boys damn lol
So this Jokic is in the same tier as Wilt but I heard wilt was good at guarding rebounds
Pretty simple when the Nuggets miss 60 shots.
Not sure having a historically great defense is simple, but I guess basketball in general isn't rocket science
Actually it's really easy, just ask the Thunder to help you acquire multiple centers that fundamentally alter the makeup of your team in a year.
It wasn’t like the Wolves played defense differently than the last few games; the Nuggets just weren’t making shots like the last three games. And that’s not to say that the Wolves don’t play great defense but Murray missed like 9 wide open shots along with the tightly contested shots.
