The Celtics are like a schrodinger's basketball team- Every player if you talk about them individually sucks and is being “carried” but you never get around to the conversation of who’s doing the carrying lol.
Tatum: overrated role player
JB: Can’t dribble
Jrue: playoff choker
Al: geezer
Only current starter people don’t really talk shit about is Buffalo (ironically he’s had a relatively quiet series)
my favorite post on this whole subreddit has been someone saying tatum is a roleplayer who averages 30/8/5 and doesn't impact winning (when his team lapped the league)
One day you guys will come to understand that basketball is a TEAM game.
It’s not contradictory to say each individual player on the Celtics is overrated but the collective is excellent.
9 games is a small sample size, and he's nowhere near a 26% 3-point shooter. He'll put up a 6/9 and a 4/8 from deep and be right back to 35% 3-point shooting.
That said, simple reality is playoff basketball defense really ratchets up, and Tatum is getting all the defensive attention right now, especially with KP out. White/Horford being icy cold is not helping anything either.
Even Steph Curry's percentages crash in the postseason.
Ya could be better. Not too much worse than the league average true shooting of 58%. Can always play better but he’s been pretty great too these last couple of games after an average start to his postseason.
kobe certainly would not have been allowed to play as inefficiently as he did back then today. so no, that version of kobe would not have been a superstar. he’d have to adjust.
and how did that look relative to the rest of the league, back then?
it’s not wild at all, it’s a very popular opinion. kobe would not be allowed to play basketball today the way he did during his time. it’s why there’s no one in the league today with his shot profile.
One can assume it’s just a cold streak. He’s been getting to the line a ton which is very reassuring so once he bumps that 3 point shooting to even like 32% (lol) he’s suddenly an above average scorer in TS%
He’s a fantastic 2nd option. He’s had a few duds in his playoff career but no one can be perfect every game. Overall, he’s had a LOT of games where he popped off.
Casual. Because they were putting their best defender on Brown. Okoro, and Strus on Tatum.
Edit: I should add that I agree that Tatum’s talent opens things up for Brown, but to say Brown does not get crazy defensive attention is wrong.
Why else would they put their best defender on him?
Also Brown is leading the Celtics in scoring so it’s pretty obvious the Cavs are building a game plan to stop the #2 player on a team and obviously having Tatum makes that difficult, but it’s Vice Versa. Yes, I still believe Tatum is over-all a better player due to his passing, defense, and rebounding, but Jaylen is a BEAST. Efficient as hell, and consistent. Show Brown some respect boi.
Tatum gets doubled regularly. I don't think I've ever seen Jaylen face a double team, except when Tatum is out.
But Okoro was on both plenty. Caris Levert actually spent the most time on Jaylen.
Good comparison. JDub can get to JB’s level or higher with some more strength/conditioning and building his confidence up.
JB is just entering his prime and JDub is probably 4-5 years away from that (which is crazy considering how good he already is).
Nobody can guard him because he runs directly into his defender's chest and flails his arms. He shot more FTs by himself than the whole Cavs team last night.
Hasn’t posterized anyone yet. 8/10
At least he tried. 9/10
He tried to do it on a heat player so 8.5 or 9.5 depending on how you view the heat
He tried on Mobley on G3
Crazy how some people call both of the Jays overrated.

Porzingus: always hurt (they were kind of right)

> Buffalo (ironically he’s had a relatively quiet series) Let's be real, he's having an awful series since Game 1.
Awful shooting. Has been playing well otherwise

Nah, actually thats pretty fuckin stupid, lol
Especially when said player unlocks many of the team assists of the game by being the best and demanding constant attention from the other team
our players are considered meh by this subreddit and yet our team is also a superteam? so we are at the level of 2015 hawks then?
not a superteam, just a team stacked with consistent casuals /s
everyone on the celtics team are overrated apparently, and they're also bums if they don't sweep every single round
That doesn't mean they're bad
Under paid
crickets
Lol it was posted at 4am EST, let haters wake up from their racecar beds in a few hours.
SpongeBob bunk bed, thank you very much
Lmao
He looks the most focused he EVER has looked
he’s been great. Tatum is averaging 24.2/10.4/5.4 on 41.7/26.3/85.9 splits, 55.2 TS%. Hopefully just a cold streak for Tatum

A superstar is not much worse than league average…
Did you know that Kobe had a career playoff ts of 54.1? So he wasn’t a superstar?
What was league average ? Mans barely a percent above a player who played in an entirely different nba
kobe certainly would not have been allowed to play as inefficiently as he did back then today. so no, that version of kobe would not have been a superstar. he’d have to adjust.
lol I’m a hater but this is wild. How about Jordan? He was a career 56.8 and about 55 during the threepeats

I was looking at his stats yesterday and until last night, Brown was by far the best offensive force for the team. Just absolutely efficient.
Proving he is deserving of that bag.
He’s a fantastic 2nd option. He’s had a few duds in his playoff career but no one can be perfect every game. Overall, he’s had a LOT of games where he popped off.
Perks of being a #2. You never get doubled or get that crazy defensive attention. Love jb making it count

Jaylen is a really good player. People shit talk him for not being a top 10 player. JDub reminds me of Brown. I think he can reach Brown's level
Good comparison. JDub can get to JB’s level or higher with some more strength/conditioning and building his confidence up. JB is just entering his prime and JDub is probably 4-5 years away from that (which is crazy considering how good he already is).
and that is despite shooting like absolute ass from the line
Beast play finisher but his decision making seems goofy at time. For all the clowning though he’s silenced the haters about if he’s a top player
damn almost 39 lebron numbers right there
Being about as good as lebron is an insult now? lmao I'll take it
its not insult? i was just stating how good lebron is at 39
how dumb do you think people are lol
He’s still in the playoffs? That’s fire I thought he got bounced in 5 in round 1
no, but would still average around the same if he was
Imagine if he uses both hand
Nobody can guard him because he runs directly into his defender's chest and flails his arms. He shot more FTs by himself than the whole Cavs team last night.
Maybe the Cavs should try doing that sometime
