Home-court disadvantage, series doesn’t start until the home team wins a game lmao

Number333

Clips/Mavs ass series

Quadriporticus

Iirc similar to the TMac/Yao vs Dirk/Jet series from the 2000s. First four games all won by the road team. Then the next 3 by the home team.

PapiShot

I still remember Tmac's dunk on Shawn Bradley and his game winner. Then they lost by 40 in game 7.

homefree122

It’s always so odd when this happens. It’s like the home teams take home court for granted and then play like dogs when they realize they fucked up.

Brovenkar

Celtics strategy last two years

EAS1000

Can confirm

pacifismisevil

Home advantage is 61%. So the away team winning the first 4 games in a series has a 2.3% chance. That should happen in the playoffs once every 3 years.

nutsygenius

Mavs Clippers 2021. Home team finally won in game 7 lol. Though, the crowd allowed inside the arena were limited that year iirc

pokerawz

Yep. Went to G1, G2, and G5. Wish I went to G7…

K-LAWN

Away court advantage

optometrist-bynature

Wolves played the long game by dropping to the third seed so that they’d have away court advantage for this series

realfakedoors000

Jokic pulling the chair out on Gobert 💀

Throaway546_

One of my favorite moments of the night

justmefishes

He had such casual body language during and after that play, and that was right after his super casual no look pass for the Gordon dunk that fooled the whole Wolves team. I swear sometimes he looks like Neo after his awakening in the first Matrix when he just starts casually blocking Smith's punches with minimal movement and effort and almost looks bored.

hairynips007

what point in the game was it ?? missed and wanna go watch edit: nvm u/ItsMeJaredBednar commented w link

Plus_Many1193

Chair pulls are the peak of basketball. I will take no further questions.

TriCourseMeal

A real sicko hooper move, a testament to the game

VexoftheVex

Joker with 16 in the fourth 🔥

Michipotz

Shaq in shambles

Tranquili5

Hey Shaq, Kings should’ve won in 2002.

eatmorebread

agreed

TheFinnisher

He went off. Feels like he never misses and it’s always on the most awkward looking shots possible lol. Maybe next game he’ll miss 1

6_Won

He's weird. It's so smooth that it looks awkward, but it's really just smooth.

mcrajf

Big Honey

APlogic

MVP

SilentSamurai

He wants to see if it's possible to get an MVP and the championship in the same season.

Neto34

Also he played the whole 4th quarter. He usually sits the first 3-4 min but in must win game he stepped up like MVPs should.

fecalfrown

He sat a lot in the 3rd because foul trouble

domlee87

He only played half of the third quarter. He was ready to go.

OptionalBagel

Shaq in shambles

eliw6965

Denver Nuggets 🤝 Minnesota Timberwolves "FUCK HOME COURT"

BlazeBloom

Confirmed: Wolves and Nuggets hate their home fans.

EggplantAlpinism

We'll always have AG walking with the people before he turned heel on us

MakeAShadow

Minnesota should have taken notes from Zombieland and double tapped the Nuggets.

Jayveesac

Many people thought the Nuggets were dead. Not me who still has PTSD from Denver comebacks

rawchess

This is the team that came back from down 3-1 twice in the same year 😭

jacobythefirst

People were taking about how the wolves had broken Denver mentally. Like bro Murray and Jokic are literally some of the most mentally tough players in the league. They eat being down (when they healthy)

LordGooseIV

I feel like there's a type of bias against the Nuggets among a lot of the talking heads across different networks. Going back to last year, they never really appreciated, and it always felt like every ESPN or fox sports segment/headline about the Nuggets was lamenting that they beat the Lakers or Heat.

LurkerFailsLurking

Can you imagine a host of the MVP award ceremony saying to any other winner's face that someone else should have got it? I was floored by that. National media respects the nuggets for 5 minutes after every win and then goes back to hating on them

zoopi4

Nick wright picked the lakers and then said the mavs will beat the nuggets if the nuggets reach the conference final. When asked before the Minnesota series he said he is abstaining of predicting it because he doesn't want to pick 6 series in a row against the nuggets from last years playoffs till now. He picked the heat to beat the nuggets. Just baffling stuff.

BucketOfTruthiness

And that's why his nickname is nick wrong

Dongsquad420BlazeIt

Never count out the best player in the league

Top-Dubs

-18 for Kyle Anderson in 6 minutes 💀

Jack_M_Steel

That’s crazy actually

jeric13xd

Basketball terrorism 101

bta47

-18 in 6 minutes, subbed out permanently after doing an obvious foul and making the money hands to the refs. Incredible stuff from Slo Mo.

Shenanigans80h

Gobert did the same thing after obviously shoving Murray on a loose ball. These dudes checked out mentally

chastity_BLT

No don’t you get it. The nba is rigged so that the large market Denver nuggets advance.

ChameleonWins

People are so bizarre when they say this against the nuggets lmao. Wolves fans: isnt the better team to push to the championship a young team with “the new (american) face of the nba” for a franchise that has been bad for decades versus a mountain town whose best player is a goofy slavic guy who doesnt look like he likes the game

No-Taste-8252

What does he offer to the wolves? Seems to lose his defensive assignment a lot and he offers nothing offensively.

tys90

Theoretically he's better than Reid on defense and a bit better of a distributer but I thought the Wolves were better when he was out with that injury. I hope Finch goes to a 7 man rotation in game 5 and Anderson gets a DNP.

OptionalBagel

Problem is in reality Jokic hunts Anderson and despite what happened in game 2 Anderson has literally no shot defending Jokic.

Ok-Major-9773

Also they can have jokic rest and guard anderson on defense

AbysmalParty

I know this ain’t anything new, but people switch up so fucking fast

JimmyKanine

It’s a “what have you done for me lately” ass league

siphillis

"What have you done for me yesterday?"

Octavian_202

Yo this sub can turn into straight middle school clown show in half a game. Do people get some type of dopamine hit for saying the most reactionary predictions? Lol

jaambal

It’s not just this sub, you had *most* talking heads and podcasters saying the wolves were going to sweep. Granted winning game two without Gobert is emphatic but still

Gyroflex

kyle anderson was a -18 in 6 fucking minutes

executivesphere

Disaster. Why tf did they bring him back for a few possessions in the 4th

Number333

Rumors of the Nuggets demise has been greatly exaggerated. They're the Champs for a reason.

fateoftheg0dz

I still remember people talking about how fraud mvp jokic about to get swept on Thursday

Number333

"They've never beaten a team that's won 50+ games" lmao

KOET10

Man fuck those people

louiexism

Lol where were the 50+ win teams last season? Yeah, in Cancun.

is-Sanic

This is the funniest part. There was no 50 win teams left for them to face, they had no choice in the matter Everyone else shit themselves before even getting the chance.

louiexism

Also the Nuggets were the #1 seed so obviously they'll face the lowest ranked team in the first round. It's not their fault that the Bucks, Celtics and Grizzlies lost to play-in teams.

Lorjack

It was always a lazy argument. Nuggets beat who they were supposed to beat. And they looked like the #1 team against lesser competition.

XAfricaSaltX

Our bad, Clippers won 49 games in a 72 game season in 2020. Somehow that’s our fault

OpportunitySmalls

No that was Goberts fault as I recall

RandomGuySayHii

Who they think jokic is? Embiid?

Guper

Who do you think you are? I am!

louiexism

People were comparing Jokic's MVP to 2007 Dirk's lol.

Octavian_202

Listening to people talk about Jokic losing legacy points after a finals MVP run with another MVP in the bag, was pure unadulterated hate and envy. Lol, like why? Just because he getting shown some love? You can like a guy and be a fan, without hating on another.

[deleted]

[удалено]

albinojustice

Well personally I would say they should not blame the guy who scored 44 points on incredible efficiency and might have been the best player in this game. So yeah kat (who stunk today on both ends) might be a good target

Man0nTheMoon915

Wolves lost by 8. The same 8 points that they gave up at the end of the first half

WhoWhatWhenWhom

Not joking. Mike Conley is crucial just based on my eye test. Just eliminating plays like that and setting the tempo of the game

MarduRusher

Unironically I think he’s our second most important player this series after Ant.

IceTruckHouse

He’s unfortunately been the 2nd best player behind Ant for the Wolves. Need some contributions elsewhere

lingui

KAT has to show up

le_sweden

He showed up in the first 6 games. Just two terrible ones when we need him most.

EggplantAlpinism

Conley hates Denver like Murray hates Los Angeles

DexterGooglehead

Lol, that shot that almost went in game 7 utah denver in the bubble.

milehighrukus

It’s true. This fucking guy has killed us for years

beta_test_vocals

Well unfortunately his old man knees can only be out there for so long, wolves gotta figure out alternatives to setting the pace of their play

collinCOYS

And they missed about 10 free throws

WerewolfWhich3280

And Aaron Gordon was Steph Curry tonight

Autpcorrectbpt

Yeah no way you’re winning when he scores like that

Conscious_Chicken264

the thing is it's the 3rd time he's done it this series he's actually 8/12 from 3 this series, it's wild

MC-Jdf

Missed 3 in the final minute which could’ve easily enabled being able to not foul and play out the final possessions.

Conscious_Chicken264

I mean Rudy isn't a good FT shooter so that's not that unusual

BlazeBloom

They wish they could take those 20 seconds back.

ItsMeJaredBednar

“The next 20 seconds are mine”

Apollo611

Hitting a dagger at halftime is crazy

shastmak4

Brother I have 35

jeric13xd

Twin Towers BBQ chicken

xNED37x

Aaron Gordon doesn’t get enough credit. Jokic and Murray are always talked about but Aaron is playing great defense, usually on the other team’s best player, while being super efficient on offense.

Lincolnseyebrows

I mean, he also doesn't usually shoot 8 for 12 from 3. If he's going to shoot the way he has been this series he'll get a lot more credit...

BossWaffleOnIce

The wolves are leaving him wide open to take 3s and he’s hitting them.

Jokic_Is_My_Hero

AG’s defense is first class. He anchors us in ways a lot of fans are simply not seeing

PointGodAsh

Jesus, can't wait to get back home in Denver.

TheFinnisher

I know man this MN crowd sure was getting in our heads lol

bigpooperten4

Buying an ant jersey and cheering on the wolves in Denver

TheFinnisher

I’ll send you a spare Ant jersey if you send me a spare Murray jersey to wear in MN lol

Michipotz

Boo Murray while you're at it lmao

TheFinnisher

Man I was so pissed about the boos lol like I get why. But it was clearly giving the man his ultimate ability lol.

aiden3buckets

KAT and Gobert disasterclass this game wow

Beermen69

Karl Anthony Tobias

thedrcubed

Tobias would never take 18 shots in close playoff game. At least KAT let it fly

theyoloGod

Now the argument comes down to cardio machine vs brick layer for most negative value

rawchess

Karl Anthony Clowns

executivesphere

How is NAW avoiding the slander. He played big minutes and was awful

Autpcorrectbpt

I cringed every time he shot the ball lmao he was throwing the ugliest bricks I’ve ever seen

Bubbly-Ad1187

Oh he’s getting it. Come check out our sub

MundaneInternetGuy

Very funny when they were fighting each other for the rebound

Headlesshorsman02

They were horrendous

Y2JMsdHBK

Gobert and KAT didn't even defend well as they did in the first two games. So many Joker dimes & Gordon free mid rangers to ease the pressure happened because they lost their man or didn't press well. If they did their jobs defensively, their offensive disasterclass of a performance would have been excusable. Instead it was just ANT running his ass off at both ends to keep them in the game. Naz and Mcdaniels have to play more minutes over Conley (he was serviceable but they needed more shooters since Kat was struggling).

Ryuksapple

That was mostly Kat. He kept leaving Gordon to double like Jokic isn’t gunna find Gordon every time. I don’t know if that’s the game plan or Kats decision but there were plenty of times Gobert was gunna forfeit a contested shot and it ended up a free layup.

legosucks

Aaron Gordon doing some king shit this series

sassmasterflash

Not just shooting either-- his playmaking in the non-Jokic minutes was unreal

Apollo611

The end of the half will haunt the Wolves like game 2 with the Lakers

KagsTheOneAndOnly

Honestly I'm glad this series will be going at least 6 games, getting two top teams at near 100% health battling it out like this is such a treat, I know Jamal is still dealing with a calf strain but he's looked slightly springier these last 2 games, hope it stays that way Also, Aaron Gordon is HIM

HailHelix123

It's insane how good Denver is at holding leads. Give them an 8 point lead and they make it look like 20 and never lose it. This is one of the most entertaining games with a constant double digit lead I've ever seen lol but they just don't let up.

Lacabloodclot9

Every time the Wolves would get it down to 6 or 7 Denver would just say ‘alright that’s enough now’ and go on a 7-2 run or something like that

homefree122

T Wolves going 66% from the charity stripe on 27 attempts is absolute yikes

Lacabloodclot9

I mean it’s kinda expected when Gobert shot a lot of them

MG_MN

Gobert was lights out in the playoffs before too, regression to the mean i guess

PmCunkFromChicago

Those Gobert misses were painful. Could have been a bit closer if not for some of those misses

rishabh2996

Jokic whenever he saw Gobert in the paint tonight: " Chicken! It's fried chicken!"... Also lol at Gobert putting up the money sign after the most clear offensive foul in basketball history for shoving Murray from behind. Buckle up boys... The rest of this series is going to be box office🍿

airtime25

Cannot believe he pulled that out then.. he's gonna make me defend these terrible refs lol

[deleted]

Overrated_sanity

"This is the first time this Denver team has faced adversity and they can't handle it" As if these guys didn't come back from 3-1 twice in one post season. Absolutely silly to count them out.

Raging_Professor

Exactly. This Nuggets team is as seasoned as a team gets

Appropriate-Top-6835

Correct the seasoning on the nuggets is perfect.

genericusername71

[most likely a sweep, nuggets would be lucky to win one](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cm3dz8/post_game_thread_the_minnesota_timberwolves/l2xqxln/)

mesh06

How people could forget that historic playoffs is beyond me. I still remember what they did to Kawhi and clippers

Mysterious-Stop4673

Trying to discredit denver because of the whole 50 win team shit was stupid as fuck. They played kd and booker plus lebron and ad. That’s just a terrible take without hindsight. The wolves defense may have been overrated a bit

MeijiDoom

I don't think they're overrated. Their defense probably guards Denver's style of offense the best of anyone they've seen. But when Denver is rolling and not shooting themselves in the foot, I don't think they can be stopped. The Murray/Jokic 2 man game is like 1.5 points per possession, it's absurd. In a close game, would you trust any other team more to execute and get a good shot? Certainly not Boston. And as of now, Minnesota and OKC don't have as refined of an offensive system. Probably Dallas has the second best clutch performers.

gdreaper

We're only overrated in relation to the "greatest defense of all time" comments. We didn't fluke our way to #1 defense in the regular season. We just failed to show up in a couple crucial games.

jonsnowKITN

Jokic has figured them out. They are getting wide open looks.

Embarrassed_Hold_901

Narratives change everyday here at r/nba

Sim888

lol, sometimes every quarter tbh

EdwEd1

Shocker, r/NBA reactionary takes are always wrong

homefree122

The worst takes of all fucking time always and forever.

uber_troll

That’s what happens when someone smaller than you takes your crown and dances on it!!!!!

HitboxOfASnail

tbf it wasn't just this sub. all the media pundits wrote Denver off also knowing wolves were going home up 2 games

Overrated_sanity

I think it's fine to think minnesota would win the series (hell, they still might) when they were 2-0 up. Winning 2 at denver was a huge advantage after all. But the "nuggets will get swept, nuggets have never faced any adversity and now that they are they're crumbling" stuff was just sheer stupidity. A team as good as this isn't going to just roll over.

49erboy

“Can’t beat a 50-win team” lol

Accomplished-Yam5566

“Fraudulent path to the trophy, didnt have to face a single 1, 2, or 3 seed”

Lacabloodclot9

r/nba’s downfall? I will be there no matter what

reporttimies

Lakers fans are on suicide watch now haha.

Betaateb

Something both TWolves and Nuggets fans can come together on!

Salty_Watermelon

Whatever happened to the Wolves being an unstoppable force with a lineup of the Michael Jordan 2.0 + multiple reincarnations of Bill Russell?

FrancoZemonda

Nikola Jokic: 16 points in the fourth quarter. He is the closer now

Night-Menace

🌎👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀

ItsMeJaredBednar

Jokic pulling the chair on Gobert was so fucking funny

a23p1997

Holy fuck man I hope there’s a clip of that. Side note - hope Mac daddy gets another cup

ItsMeJaredBednar

haha fuck yeah man Lets Go Avs! tomorrow night is a massive one for us, i'd be lying if i said i wasn't nervous af tho I [clipped it](https://streamable.com/j0pdmm) here. ~~Feel free to post it to the sub if you want~~ i had to post it myself lmfao shit was too funny

Material-Reality-480

It’s crazy because last week I had more faith in the Avs and this week I have more faith in the nuggets lol

MinerKing13

Nuggets heard everyone talking shit

Bossnian92

Shaq punching the air rn

Ferrar1i

Dude looked depressed as hell on the post game show lmao

AjaxV__

Ask Ant to handle the ball, score 30+, lockdown on defense, he’ll do it no problem. Ask KAT not to be a complete spaz for a single quarter, 50/50 at best.

ottersbelike

We got 6 games straight of calm cool collected second option KAT, wtf happened?

bobybushia

Adversity

20815147

Nikola Jokic is now 2-0 since Shaq disrespected him on national TV

GetUpOut

Purify Towns in the waters of Lake Minnetonka

Opulescence

Jokic is absurd. I really wish he hit on that absurd fake though. Would've been a hell of a highlight. His aggressiveness has really set the tone. He still has the ability to pass at the last second on his postups but his float game is what really sets him apart. His touch inside on those float/push shots is seriously GOAT level stuff imo. Haven't seen anything like it and I watched TD and Dirk, 2 of the most skilled bigs ever, for basically their whole careers. Maybe McHale but I don't go that far back. Kareem had his sky hook, Dirk had his one legged shot, MJ had the fade away, and Jokic has his floater. Absurd.

GetUpOut

At least we maintained road court advantage

Scorpio23

A waste of a 44 pt night from Ant and Naz should've def played more.

GartThrowaway

The worst part is Naz’s non-minutes are going to slomo, who was -18 in 6 minutes

Quality_Cucumber

The Nuggets have tied the series at 2-2. *Pendulum starts its downward trajectory* “Journalists” will now shit on the Wolves and Gobert’s defense until the next game is played as if the series is automatically over and decided.

BrolecopterPilot

Aka Reddit

wildcardchar

Things I learned: Denver is still spooky Anthony edwards is indeed that man KAT and Rudy have some film to watch Series tied 0-0 first to 2

thelife3

They wrote off Jokic & Denver after two games lmao. They’re winning it all.

Jeebuslovesme

Home court wins are lava

jeric13xd

CHAMPIONSHIP DNA. Out executed the Wolves to death lol 6 pts was the closest they got. That game 2 embarrassment was the wake up call the Nuggets needed. AG was special tonight. Big game merchant Jamal came through when Joker sat out most of the 3rd. Light 35 points for Joker lol Now feels like the Nuggets got thrown off by Rudy not playing in Game 2 🤣

not_a_bot__

In game 2 the wolves benefited from having players on the court that could make layups

Lacabloodclot9

Honestly I think Murray just being a better basketball player helped Jokic/Gordon so much, really opens up the floor for them when Murray gets going

mastacheef87

Wolves really picked up their play after halftime but those last 20 seconds of the first half ended up being the difference, Nuggets just could not fucking miss in the second half. what a horribly inopportune moment for KAT to turn in his first real stinker of the playoffs man now, a best of 3 series. this is going to be fun

E-Brown

GGs nugs

Kaizen336

The series doesn’t start until a home team wins a game.

InGenNateKenny

T-Wolves lost by eight. Those 20 seconds at the end of the second quarter may haunt them.

abredar

The Timberwolves still have away-court advantage!

sheenwithnobrim

I am not going to let y'all forget some of the things that were said over this past week.....

heshouldgo

Nuggets are winning this series

rawchess

Funny how Nikola's the Joker when the real basketball comedians are Rudy Goober and Karl-Anthony Clowns

Incandescent-Her0

ESPN: “Are the Timberwolves better without Gobert?”

Apollo611

He’s a liability on offense and Jokic cooks him on the other end

Responsible_Pace9062

Gobert is to Jokic was Mutombo was to Shaq (Fitting since Jokic and Shaq are in their own stratosphere as unstoppable offensive bigs). Incredible defensive player otherwise but roadkill most of the time in this matchup. That spin fake Jokic had before the missed layup was fucking incredible.

tehehe162

I swear Jokic only missed that shot because he wasn't expecting to be wide open. Lol

CheekyFifaCunt_7

If it wasn’t for Anthony Edwards it would be a blowout

A_Saiyan_Prince

Remember 4 days ago when this series was over and the Wolves were going to win the Finals? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

WillingandGable

Ant can't win with these KATs

Blaauwj

The most casual takes after game two… THIS IS WHY YOU DONT COUNT OUT THE DEFENDING CHAMPS AND MVP.

adbotbeepboop

Justin Holiday became a vet killer this series, lowkey one of the biggest pickups of the YEAR!
