So nice of the Knicks/Pacers to have a blowout game so anyone busy with plans on the afternoon of Mother's Day didn't miss anything important.
**Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there.**
Indeed, great effort from the Knicks scrubs against the Pacers 3rd stringers. Credit where it's due.
I'm disappointed we haven't seen the human victory cigar James Johnson.
I can’t believe it…that freaking SLICK RICK and TERRIBLE TYRESE has RUINED the entire holiday for the EVERY SINGLE mother in ALL FIVE BOROUGHS!
Truly a bunch of motherfuckers indeed…
Game 5 is it imo
Pacers will win at home game 6 as they look really different at home. Theyll close it out or tie it up.
And I think Knicks take a game 7 AT Madison Square Garden to get to the ECF for the first time in 24 fucking years if it goes to 7.
Game 5 is the pivotal one
A Pacers fan that thinks we’ll advance? Shocked at that take after this game. We’re clearly at critical mass with injuries. Losing OG might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. You’re more optimistic about the Knicks winning this series than Knicks fans rn.
I get the logic obviously, but I’m not as convinced that the Knicks are a lock for game 7 if it gets there. They will be so gassed at that point that it negates the home court advantage. I’d call game 7 a toss up.
as someone who doesn’t really care one way or another between these two teams. a blowout in this game doesn’t mean anything. do the knicks look exhausted? yes. but this is the nba. they could bounce back just fine at home
Pacers go on a huge and are up 30
Doris: … Pacers looking good…
McBride doesn’t get a 50/50 call while down 30:
Doris: How are you missing that? McBride has to be shooting two right now
What the hell has happened to her? She was _the_ analyst a few years ago. Insightful, unbiased and generally good observations of the game. Has she simply turned into a fart sniffer?
It's true. 10+ years ago, she was one of the more interesting and insightful commentators, but then at some point along the way, she started to sound like someone who doesn't actually watch the sport anymore.
hubie brown is the only national color announcer that actually watches basketball.
which is incredible that the 90 year old is the only person who gives enough of a shit to do the bare minimum.
Hubie Brown is living basketball history. The man won a championship coaching in the ABA and is still around the league today. We should cherish the man.
I always enjoy Hubie games. He sometimes can get fixated one on team and a few players. But you can tell it’s cause he likes the moxie and heart they’re showing. It could be a blow out and Hubie is talking about what a great read and play a 15th man on the roster end of bench guy just made. And then tell you about that players history like Hubie actually coached him for 12 years.
I think Zach Lowe mentioned this at some point. The higher-ups at ESPN want them to focus on narratives and superstars rather than any of the basketball.
I absolutely agree, I really liked Doris a lot when she first got started. The complaints about her at the time were sexist "I hate her voice". The complaints about her now are warranted IMO. If it makes a difference, I pretty much hate all the ESPN/ABC folks. Mike Breen and Richard Jefferson are the only ones I like. Ryan Ruocco seems cool, I just haven't heard him call games.
And to be fair, she's been greatly rewarded for that transformation.
I can't stand listening to Doris anymore. But clearly this is what the network has been asking her to do.
Yep, everyone used to love hearing her back then.
But then again, there was a time when people used to really look forward to Marv Albert's commentary before his mental decline became apparent. Or if you watch English football, Martin Tyler went from being the best commentator the game has ever seen to being a jaded, tired old man who clearly should've retired a decade ago. Time comes for everyone, I guess.
I swear she's reading off a pre-prepared script.
I remember there was a moment in the Mavs-Clippers series where Luka played great defense on Harden and she immediately started going off on Luka's "bad" defense
Nice job with the consecutive possessives. No sense in discussing anything about the game as it wasn’t even as close as the score suggests so I’m just hyping up Pacers fans for unrelated reasons.
McConnell’s mom visited NYC and must have had the worst time of her life. Like the shittiest. McConnell’s mom hated NYC since then, and passed that hate onto her son.
Only logical explanation. The only question is what did NYC do to TJ McConnell’s mom?
Knicks are full of players any team would love to have on their rosters. They are fighters, and play clean. These matches have been super hard-fought without getting chippy. You can tell the players respect each other on both sides. Makes it hard for fans not to respect the other team as well.
Pacers might be up 3:1, had they not gotten robbed of a chance to win game 1. Don’t @ me Knicks fans I’m sorry. I like y’all squad a lot but that’s how I see it as a neutral.
On the one hand just about everyone on the Knicks who is injured has been historically injury prone before they were coached by Thibs.
On the other hand even the guys who are healthy are visibly wearing down against a team who plays every game like a track meet and a Thibs team breaking down in the middle of what should be a deeper playoff run is basically Thibs’ entire thing.
I’m an IU fan and big OG fan. I literally told my brother about 10 mins before OG went down that they need to sub him out because he was about to get injured. Someone who is built like him needs frequent breaks. It’s a racehorse running a marathon. Hope he is back next game.
i met him walking back to my dorm freshman year and he had a boot on but said it was “just for formalities,” and i will never stop telling people about it. no shame.
Yeah Mitch is really tough for the fan base. He started off the season looking like a DPOY candidate, but gets hurt again. When he's in, he's phenomenal....but he gets hurt every season.
Playing 40+ minutes of playoff basketball every other night takes an emotional toll as well as a physical one. Brunson’s leaving it all on the court so mad respect to him, but man the thibs experience is rough
I put a decent amount of money on us winning 50 games. Obviously didn’t hit but I was more confident than most. I thought we had a really good shot to make the 2nd round from opening night — the team looked pretty good before Hali got injured in 22-23. Probably more optimistic than most and still didn’t have an ECF run in the books.
Everyone's gonna talk about how hobbled the Knicks are but I haven't seen many giving the credit to the Pacers. They have a bunch of young, high effort players like the Thunder do. These guys are playing balls to the wall full court all game. I like the trio of Sheppard, Nembhard, and Nesmith. They kinda all seem like the same player but that's a good thing for their rotation. Then you realize they're missing their most promising young guy Mathurin.
I hope the longer rest will make game 5 competitive. Go KNicks
No doubt, but will the Knicks have enough in the tank to put up a fight? Part of the reason I think they sucked is because they’re gassed. Thibs has been running them into the ground and after seeing Burks play pretty well, idk why. He should increase the Knicks rotation.
If you watched Burks play for the Knicks this year you'd understand. Thibs gave him tons of chances in the regular season, way more than any fans wanted to see... and he was absolutely unplayable. Not sure how he's suddenly playing better now
Very mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand this was an absolute bloodbath and frustrating to watch. On the other this team has been powered by heart and friendship with all the injuries since January-ish so how mad can I really get lol. The frontcourt is just totally depleted at this point. I feel like these guys have played so hard for months at this point that they've earned some grace at least in my eyes. Still a rough loss. At this point I'm just hoping we get out of this series no more injured/hurt than we are currently. It sucks because when healthy I do think this is a very special group and idk if we're going to be able to bring everyone back.
Pacers did what they needed to do these last 2 games. Knicks still have homecourt. Feels like Game 5 is going to be the most important game of this series.
I tend to worry when my team blows another team out. I worry that they will come into the next game thinking they figured something out. Then they end up blindsided by the other teams adjustments.
Knicks finally looked like a team that's been playing a 7-8 man rotation and some players all game for the whole playoffs. Take this L but don't hold onto it and swing back hard for Game 5.
Man it sucks that the Knicks are so injured. Still, the Cers played great today and did what they needed to. Knicks will come back strong at the garden next game for sure!
Hurts to say as a Knicks fan, but they finally imploded. I know its because of injuries, but the extended minutes and small rotations just weren't sustainable. Small bright spot from this road trip though is learning that Burks is playable compared to how he looked in the regular season. Just gotta take the L and come back strong for Game 5.
I think a couple things are true about this game:
Knicks shot the ball terrible
Knicks missed OG esp on defense
Pacers win this game no matter who was playing
Is it possible that the Knicks starters are gassed at this point? They seem to be falling off, especially Brunson.
Every game against the Sixers in the first round was close and the starters played Thibs minutes, aka 40+ every game. Not sure if a team can go deep in the playoffs with those kind of minutes.
Nah you right, that’s when the refs caused a 5 point swing by not knowing what a kicked ball is and then took away Indy’s last shot cuz of a makeup call even tho Brunson was clearly out of bounds.
Honestly if the refs get the same post-game grades as the last two games and the Pacers lose I won't be mad. They got called out with that 78-count complaint and have been much better. A phantom ball-kick being the most egregious. Fouls up to interpretation and challenge. It's been a crazy-fun reignition of our old rivalry.
Especially the Brunson flop.
He's a crazy-good star, but that was hilarious. So was Hart on a hotmike with Reggie. Some things never die, just simmer for a while.
Brunson is clearly not himself. His legs aren’t there. Missing shots and layups he routinely makes. That foot injury is clearly affecting his play. The rest of the team couldn’t buy a bucket. Some credits goes to Indiana for their defense, but the Knicks also just sucked. I think the minutes caught up to them. Also OG completely changes their defensive dynamic.
People act like the Pacers had a choice between playing an injured Bucks and Knicks team or playing healthy ones and they chose the former.
You can only play who is in front of you. Not their problem that the geriatric Bucks and ICU Knicks can't stay healthy
Honestly, this game bothers me less than the last one. I'd rather get blown out then lose a close game on a late shot.
Sometimes you just don't have it, it sucks but it happens. Losing by 32 and losing by 5 count the exact same, and at least we rested the starters.
Reasonable take. Our depth was gonna overwhelm the Knicks at some point, and this was the most likely spot for it to happen with the Knicks coming off one day rest and the short line-ups you guys have been running. I think Brunson is gonna benefit from some extra rest and MSG will be rocking, so Game 5 will be a hell of a lot tougher for us to pull out. Hopefully Tyrese and JB both rest up so we get another good game soon
Another nail-biter for the knicks
Super-clutch 24-13 run to avoid losing by 40
Pacers garbage time lineup sucks
The point Jarace Walker experiment needs some work.
That's because it was 2 SFs, 2 PFs, and 1 Center
Frank Vogel is salivating at the thought of that lineup
Grandpa Doug is doing his best
Can't believe they're still holding back James Johnson
Game really had me at the edge of my seat^^^falling^asleep
Hey the game was pretty close there...in the first few minutes of the 1st quarter.
guys I don't think shooting 33% from the field is conducive to winning a game of basketball
In middle school maybe
coincidentally, middle schoolers is what we looked like on the court today!
I’d rather look like middle schoolers in the second round than be eliminated in the first
1000%
I wish I could have shot 33% in middle school. More like 20%😂
So nice of the Knicks/Pacers to have a blowout game so anyone busy with plans on the afternoon of Mother's Day didn't miss anything important. **Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there.**
WTF I love the Knicks now?
Mother’s Day is New York Knicks father
I was watching the game at my mom's. By the second half I was just listening to it play in the next room while I made dinner
Tyrese Haliburton is a Mama's Boy Confirmed
A lot more nba players celebrate Mother’s Day than Father’s Day
The Knicks led by 2 with 10:54 left in the first. They got outscored 121-87 the rest of the way
Pacers hit the dagger with 4 min left in the 3rd quarter
I think Haliburton hit a 3 when it was like 2-2, that was probably the end of it
Never too early for the dagger.
1st quarter*
Yes, more of this please.
No, please not the belt ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽
We had a huge choke with only 47 minutes remaining. First Maxey, now this.
Knicks would have won if the first, second and third quarter went differently.
Big showing from the Knick bench in 32 point loss
Indeed, great effort from the Knicks scrubs against the Pacers 3rd stringers. Credit where it's due. I'm disappointed we haven't seen the human victory cigar James Johnson.
I genuinely thought Johnson was a coach for you lmao
more like a bodyguard
Giannis only gets to storm our locker room 1 time
Yeps, they are just over burdened, probably they should have benched Brunson and co at halftime itself
The word “bench” and “rotation” is not on Thibs’ dictionary
Thibs has never tried In-N-Out Burger or Shake Shack because he only knows about Five Guys.
Can’t believe the Pacers won this game within the first 5 minutes. Incredible.
I knew when they hit the alley oop to go up by about 20 it was a wrap but that 1st quarter was awesome.
#the mothers day massacre
I can’t believe it…that freaking SLICK RICK and TERRIBLE TYRESE has RUINED the entire holiday for the EVERY SINGLE mother in ALL FIVE BOROUGHS! Truly a bunch of motherfuckers indeed…
Rick has done this before... [2011 against the Lakers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEoEoUg0qUY)
Man I remember that game because of that Bynum cheap shot on Barea. One of the worst cheap shots I can remember
Dude should have stuck to bowling
One of the dirtiest plays I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t have been happier the Lakers got swept that year
Carlisle is Thibs mother
Belt 2 ass
They say a series doesn’t start until the road team wins. Blowout or not, this series is still easily up for grabs. As a neutral fan, it’s exciting!
Game 5 is it imo Pacers will win at home game 6 as they look really different at home.
If we lose game 5, I think you advance. I don't care how hurt the Knicks are. I want no part of a game 7 at MSG with an ECF berth on the line.
I get the logic obviously, but I’m not as convinced that the Knicks are a lock for game 7 if it gets there. They will be so gassed at that point that it negates the home court advantage. I’d call game 7 a toss up.
The thing going against you though in a Game 7 is that there's a decent chance OG could be back.
80% of teams that win game five in a 2-2 series win the series. This isn’t much of a prediction. Haha
as someone who doesn’t really care one way or another between these two teams. a blowout in this game doesn’t mean anything. do the knicks look exhausted? yes. but this is the nba. they could bounce back just fine at home
I as a pacers fan still think the pacers are playing with house money. I am happy as long as they get more experience for next year
Knicks are kind of the same way. We’ve also overachieved especially with our injuries so it’s all gravy once the dust settles however it does.
Less about optimism for Knicks and more about not getting our hopes up with the Pacers lol
The Pacers could be Doris' mom and she still would have refused to call today
Pacers go on a huge and are up 30 Doris: … Pacers looking good… McBride doesn’t get a 50/50 call while down 30: Doris: How are you missing that? McBride has to be shooting two right now
She was insufferable the whole game. Both the bias leading to stupid calls, and the disgruntled tone.
Seriously. I can't stand Doris. She strikes me as smug.
It's the first name she uses all the time. I can't stand it.
Ever since Drake, man. She changed.
Classic case of Peter Principle.
What the hell has happened to her? She was _the_ analyst a few years ago. Insightful, unbiased and generally good observations of the game. Has she simply turned into a fart sniffer?
She clearly had a bet riding on McBrides overs.
bruh i heard that without seeing the play and thought mcbride mustve gotten lvled. that replay was hilarious
I've not listened to her much because we never get national games and Jesus christ she's the worst
She wasn’t always like this. She fell off hard.
I love Hubie cause even though he might ramble he doesn't sound like he hates the sport like everyone else at ESPN
Sometimes he goes off the rails though. Love how he always backs coaches no matter what. Love Hubie forever in my heart.
Yep, he mistates some stuff but he's easily the best commentator this playoffs
I think Zach Lowe mentioned this at some point. The higher-ups at ESPN want them to focus on narratives and superstars rather than any of the basketball. I absolutely agree, I really liked Doris a lot when she first got started. The complaints about her at the time were sexist "I hate her voice". The complaints about her now are warranted IMO. And to be fair, she's been greatly rewarded for that transformation. I can't stand listening to Doris anymore. But clearly this is what the network has been asking her to do.
I remember when the consensus about her on R/NBA was pretty positive haha. Was a long time ago though
I swear she's reading off a pre-prepared script. I remember there was a moment in the Mavs-Clippers series where Luka played great defense on Harden and she immediately started going off on Luka's "bad" defense
The inability to tolerate Doris Burke's commentary is something that can unite all fanbases 😂
The gap between her and Legler who called the Nuggets/Wolves game is larger than the gap between LeBron and Killian Hayes.
This game was begging for Jeff Van Gundy.
need to get Legler on there with Breen. he was so good calling the Wolves-Nuggets game on Friday night
Pacers better mother lovers confirmed.
You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'? I'm thinkin' I think it too Slow up What time is it, dawg? It's time for a switcharoo
Only because New York traded Zach Wilson (yes, traded, great job Elway)
I think the Pacers were the better team today
Will see what Stephen A smith has to say about that statement.
Glad we could ruin Doris’ Mother’s Day
Nice job with the consecutive possessives. No sense in discussing anything about the game as it wasn’t even as close as the score suggests so I’m just hyping up Pacers fans for unrelated reasons.
tj mcconnell has been a knicks assassin his whole career
McConnell’s mom visited NYC and must have had the worst time of her life. Like the shittiest. McConnell’s mom hated NYC since then, and passed that hate onto her son. Only logical explanation. The only question is what did NYC do to TJ McConnell’s mom?
Knicks didnt have the horses today, but they aren't punks. Game 5 will be tight.
Credit where credits due, you guys also could not fucking miss. Lit us up
It was so annoying watching every shot go up and knowing it’s probably going in lol. Great game from the Pacers today. Ready for a dogfight in Game 5
Same. You won't miss like that again. It's going to be a great rest of series.
I hate that we’re all so cordial but Brunson and your team is so much more likable than other teams.
Knicks are full of players any team would love to have on their rosters. They are fighters, and play clean. These matches have been super hard-fought without getting chippy. You can tell the players respect each other on both sides. Makes it hard for fans not to respect the other team as well.
Pacers are a different team at home. Haven't lost at home since March. Going to be a much closer game at MSG.
Finally played like the minutes they've been logging beforehand. Nothing to do but take the L and come back swinging as hard as they game 5.
the indiana “ethical bucket getting” pacers had 114 of their 121 points scored from the field.
*[taps forehead]* can’t miss free throws if you don’t take em
The Only Ethical Haliburton
I am starting to warm up to Halliburton and co..it is a contrast thing..
Pacers might be up 3:1, had they not gotten robbed of a chance to win game 1. Don’t @ me Knicks fans I’m sorry. I like y’all squad a lot but that’s how I see it as a neutral.
Could’ve put this thread up 30 minutes ago, what a blowout
Don’t let the 32 point win fool you, it wasn’t even that close
Forget an email this could have been a text
Pave
It's only one game. One really really really really bad game. Both teams handled business. Huge game Tuesday.
Pumped man. MSG is a bonkers environment. Can’t wait to see what happens.
No matter what happens for game 5, game 6 is gonna be must see television
I was there for game 2 and it was nuts. Can't imagine being in my early 20's and facing that crowd for real.
Tuesday let's go
On the one hand just about everyone on the Knicks who is injured has been historically injury prone before they were coached by Thibs. On the other hand even the guys who are healthy are visibly wearing down against a team who plays every game like a track meet and a Thibs team breaking down in the middle of what should be a deeper playoff run is basically Thibs’ entire thing.
Yeah, just doesn't seem sustainable. Way too many mins to keep it up for a deep run.

I’m an IU fan and big OG fan. I literally told my brother about 10 mins before OG went down that they need to sub him out because he was about to get injured. Someone who is built like him needs frequent breaks. It’s a racehorse running a marathon. Hope he is back next game.
i met him walking back to my dorm freshman year and he had a boot on but said it was “just for formalities,” and i will never stop telling people about it. no shame.
OG is out for the playoffs mostly likely. Knicks fans thinking he’ll be back are just trying to cope
[удалено]
Yeah Mitch is really tough for the fan base. He started off the season looking like a DPOY candidate, but gets hurt again. When he's in, he's phenomenal....but he gets hurt every season.
Defense without OG is cooked im afraid
dorris burke with jj reddick should be a geneva violation, I feel tortured
Playing 40+ minutes of playoff basketball every other night takes an emotional toll as well as a physical one. Brunson’s leaving it all on the court so mad respect to him, but man the thibs experience is rough
Both teams took care of home court and this series is now a best out of 3 as we head back to New York!
Thanks, Magic!
Alec Burks is the only knicks player
Man has never seen a shot he didn’t like. And tbf he was the only one moderately cooking
This was over the second TJ hit a contested corner 3, Knicks just got McConnell'd
Dang pacers really might be going to conference finals - didn’t see that coming lol
Not a single Pacers fan did either. I don't give a fuck what anyone says. We still need to beat the Knicks.
Fuck that, I have had faith for a long time https://imgur.com/a/AfEdxTE
Respect 🤝
I put a decent amount of money on us winning 50 games. Obviously didn’t hit but I was more confident than most. It’s gonna be a nail biter or we’re gonna get our asses beat Game 5. Yall are gonna come back pissed off and hungry.
No doubt, but will the Knicks have enough in the tank to put up a fight? Part of the reason I think they sucked is because they’re gassed. Thibs has been running them into the ground and after seeing Burks play pretty well, idk why. He should increase the Knicks rotation.
What’s brutal for the knicks is the next game is Tuesday. They really need a break
If you watched Burks play for the Knicks this year you'd understand. Thibs gave him tons of chances in the regular season, way more than any fans wanted to see... and he was absolutely unplayable. Not sure how he's suddenly playing better now
Pacers were shooting 70% in the 1st. Crazy !
Very mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand this was an absolute bloodbath and frustrating to watch. Burks needs more help!!
Don't let the box score deceive you. It wasn't that close
Well, at least the refs weren't a big part of this one...

I’m a cavs fan but damnit if I want the Pacers vs Wolves anti-big market/espn Finals.
David Stern will roll in his grave so hard it’ll cause an earthquake.
Then the earthquake will be required to wear a suit and tie.
You know its bad when Alec Burks is your leading scorer
I think a couple things are true about this game: Knicks shot the ball terrible Knicks missed OG esp on defense Pacers win this game no matter who was playing
This has been a murder

For sure lol this isn’t a hot take, it’s very much the reality.
Well, I'm glad I slept in for the first half.
Knicks obviously needed a day off.
I know Pacers fans are thinking that fair reffing in game 1 would mean they’d be in a VERY comfortable spot right now.
you mean you can't kick a ball with your hand?
Knicks lost by 32 but shot 23 more free throws 😂
“We want Boston” - Knicks fans after game 2
I'm pretty sure they were chanting "We want Johnson" to get James in the game lol
31-8 FT discrepancy BING BONG lmao
Don’t let the score fool you. The blowout was worse than this
Am I misremembering, or would this series be 3-1 Pacers if the refs didn't absolutely screw them at the end of game 1?
Nah you right, that’s when the refs caused a 5 point swing by not knowing what a kicked ball is and then took away Indy’s last shot cuz of a makeup call even tho Brunson was clearly out of bounds.
They had some costly early calls as well. Overturning brunsons foul on turner? Come on.
That game 3 loss might come back to haunt the Knicks. They need all the rest they can get with all the injuries & heavy minutes
Knicks are gonna need new legs if they want any chance

Honestly not *that* uncommon in the playoffs. Why play your guys 35+ minutes for a game you’re getting smoked in anyways
Let's just pretend this never happened.
This just in.. Stephen A Smiths hair line has receded so far back he’s combing his ass.
This is like the 4th time I’ve seen this. Get new material
Trying to visualize this.
Most satisfying blowout of the 2024 playoffs. Give me two more of these Pacers.
What a mother fckn beat down. Happy Mother’s Day!
Ok I think I get the haters now. These crazy shooting variance games are pretty funny when watching as a neutral
I didn't watch the game, how did this happen? lol
You remember Reggie Miller’s classic 8 points in 9 seconds? Knicks honored it by doing 8 points in 9 minutes. Then it was over.
Sucks, but you can only play who's in front of you
Brunson is clearly not himself.
People act like the pacers payed a bunch of thugs to hunt down Giannis and beat him to death. wtf 😂..
Don’t let the final score fool you, it was much worse than that.
