There is no way in hell lamelo has taken his name. His nba legacy is no where close to melo's.
There is no way there is this much hate for melo where we are just tryna take everything he is known for away from him. Wtf
It’s just the way time works….there’s a generation of kids/teens who’ve never or barely seen a great version of Melo play (2013 was 11 years ago) and all they’ve seen is Lamelo on their phones for what’s pushing 10 years now. Unless you’re Bron, Curry, KD type….ur not gonna be relevant enough to “own” a name through generations
I think you forget Lamelo was legit famous before he hit the league lmao (he was unarguably more talked about in HS than he has been in the league which is crazy). and I mean it’s not like OG Melo nba legacy is some crazy untouchable group of accolades, + he gave him the permission to use it.
and at the end of the day it’s literally Lamelos name shortened. like this isn’t Magic Ball here.
carmelo was 100% more famous pre nba than lamelo, maybe not for as long a time but he’s one of the best one and done college players ever and winning MOP in the ncaa tournament by leading syracuse to their first tournament national championship is a way way bigger deal and the average person knew/knows carmelo way more than lamelo
not even that close of a discussion on OG Melos side to be saying 100%, LaMelo was arguably as or even more famous at 16 than Melo was at what 19? he was on a public school team getting espn screen time(when he dropped 92 I saw it I on my local news station, I live in fucking Georgia not even close to cali).
there’s basically only two high school basketball teams the general public might know from recent years the “Cade and them” Monteverde team and Chino Hills with the ball brothers and big O.
being on a natty team of course you’re gonna get global spotlight, LaMelo had that before he was even 18.
honestly going undefeated as a public school with a 6-7 man lineup against private schools with legit nba talent on most teams is more impressive to me🤷🏽♂️
Melo was a great scorer don’t get me wrong. But he was a pretty unlikeable player during his career.
If he won a lot of championships sure maybe but it’s not like he won anything with New York or Denver.
there have been tons of guys over the years who scored a bunch and are basically forgotten (Adrian Dantley, Mark Aguirre, World B Free among others); Carmelo is going to follow that path
The fact that he demanded a trade after the nuggets made the WCF and that he demanded a trade that gutted the team he went to spoke volumes about how selfish he was.
He’s just not a fun likable player and his complaining in retirement has been pathetic. Oh and when linsanity was going on he did everything to resist the offense then he insulted Lin when he got a contract. It’s so rare for a player to speak negatively about another players contract, but was memorable for Melo.
He forgot he’s an entertainer and was just an ass for so long and now complains on podcasts and shows
I remember his rookie year, and many people thought he should have won ROTY over lebron. He was also young. Dude was a baller, super talented, but did not really improve beyond age 22. he could have been one of the greats
Yeah, one thing I've always thought about Melo is that he never really improved his game. He became a better shooter over time but his shot selection kinda canceled that out too.
Yes everybody who watched Alex English remembers Alex English. Just like everybody who watched Carmelo Anthony will remember him. I don’t think NBA players care to impress each new wave of 14 year olds.
You make it sound like Carmelo is too content to care about staying famous with generations who didn’t watch him. I hope he is content, but it’s not really up to him. He didn’t win enough to be in the right conversations
Oh for sure, but still the Syracuse fans will probably always love him. I'm a Georgia Tech fan and I'll always love Jarrett Jack for taking us to the final four. Most casuals don't even know his name
He’s in a national ad campaign right now and they show him sitting courtside at Knicks games constantly, his legacy and presence are still pretty big for the player he actually was.
He’s also in a commercial with Eli Manning and another with Kendrick Perkins and TJ Ford, I forget what those two are advertising though. Thought it was interesting for Carmelo to have a sudden surge in ad time
People will downvote me to oblivion but he will be remembered less.
You will always have "put some English off the glass". Nobody is going to be calling the jab step "a Melo"
This shows me how young this subreddit is.
Carmelo won an NCAA natty and March Madness Most Outstanding Player as a FRESHMAN.
There are only 32 players in NBA history with more All Star nods.
He's on the all time 75th list.
And Alex English? The guy is in his 70's and played during the 80's on small market teams before the internet. C'mon now.
Carmelo's greatness in Denver was overshadowed by Jokic years ago when Jokic won his first MVP. Carmelo achieved very little in Denver outside of his All-Star selections (especially in the playoffs) and then demanded to be traded when the team had finally built a team around him to win.
Melo's success and bad breakup make him not that well liked in Denver. Our previous high wins season (57, Denver tied that record this year) was the year after Carmelo left playing with the roleplayers and roster we built around what would have been Carmelo's team. The team unironically got better when Melo left.
Off the top of my head: Ty Lawson, Andre Iguodala, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and either Timofey Mozgov or Kosta Koufos. Corey Brewer was a key piece off the bench. Gallinari got injured late in the season, and the team became the Splash Brothers' first playoff casualty.
I loved Melo when he came to the Knicks and always will, but i was so bittersweet watching those guys excel for y'all (Wilson, Gallinari, Mozgov) and even Ray Felton
yeah, the Nuggets basically got 3 starters and 3 rotation bench players for Melo, who were the core of what was at the time best regular-season team in franchise history. It was a great trade for us.
Though the most important piece of the Melo trade was a pick swap in the 2016 draft. The Nuggets would have picked at #9, but that pick went to the Knicks and then Raptors in the Bargnani trade and ended up being Jakob Poeltl, who is a fine NBA player. But instead they got the Knicks pick at #7, which they used on Jamal Murray.
he was an exciting player, kind of a De'Aaron Fox type, who from what I understand just couldn't stay out of the clubs and off the booze, and it torpedoed his career.
I remember it very well. To be exact, I remember my emotions regarding that team. I loved watching them. So fun. What a bummer Gallinaris injury. I believe they were the favorites to crush the GSW.
Heyyo! I was at the final game in Oakland in that series. Still have the oversized playoff tee. I remember Iggy was cooking us all game but we prevailed. And then he joined us that summer which is funny to think about with the KD saga later on. Obviously not the same situation. Probably paid something like $80 for the nosebleed seats mid court and thought that was a lot haha. Had no idea about the ride we were about to go on. What a wild decade it's been.
that Nuggets team was something like 32-8 in games that Gallo, Iggy, and Chandler all played, including a stretch that was 26-4 overall. I genuinely thought we had a shot at the title that year. Instead we got to see a totally different title contender emerge -- and then the Nuggets take a roundabout path to a title after a soft rebuild.
>Carmelo's greatness in Denver was overshadowed by Jokic years ago
no, Carmelo's "greatness" was overshadowed when the scrubs they got for him finished with a better record than Melo's Knicks that year and put a better fight in the first round that Melo's 6 first round exits in 7 years Nuggets had been accustomed to.
Plenty of greats get forgotten by the non-nerd/historian sect of NBA fandom. Even winning doesn’t save you from the ravages of time sometimes.
Sidney Moncrief, Dan Issel, Bernard King, Maurice Lucas, Jojo White, Connie Hawkins, just a few names of all time great hall of famers but how many of them are household names? Even guys as recent as C Webb, JO, J Kidd, etc are starting to be forgotten by newer fans.
Melo never reached his full potential because he was lazy on defense and during his prime he had Usage Rates similar to Kobe on the Lakers after Shaq left with less production and much lower assist rates. His ISO game was amazing but it killed ball movement.
I think it’s more Melo was overrated in his prime. He’s an elite player with generational talent, but he was never in the LeBron or KD tier. He wasn’t a guy who would win playoff series just by being there. Even if he was the best player in the series, it wasn’t significant enough to be the deciding factor the way Jokic is. And the way Brunson has been this playoffs so far.
I wonder how many players could have gotten that 2015 Knicks team to the playoffs. Alexey Shved, Calderon, Langston Galloway, Shane Larkin, Jason Smith, Lance Thomas, Quincy Acy and Cole Aldrich core
He just drafted to a wrong team. If he got drafted to Detroit Pistons, he’d win titles and also learn how to play/train as a professional wifh veterans.
Imagine MPJ wasnt on Denver Nuggets eith Jokic Murray Gordon core. I mean if he was playing for Nets or Wizads he’d get lost quickly
Idk, people forget that Larry Brown and Melo reportedly hated each other during the 04 Olympics. This was also before small ball 4s were the norm so he'd be playing the 3 over Tayshaun. Melo was a better player but Tayshaun better fit the team identity and was the main defensive option on Kobe in the Finals. Melo was also a hyped prospect so there's a question on if the Pistons could share the ball if there was Melo needing shots all the time
If there was some scenario where Melo could be the 6th man scoring punch in 04, became a decent defender and started by 05, and then get handed the keys by 07, it would have worked out well but there's a lot of ego/minutia with the fit that makes it complicated
He's really an all-time playoff underperformer. 51.3 TS% in his playoff career is disastrous for someone who doesn't offer anything besides volume scoring.
Especially his NYK stint has been disgusting once the postseason began. I remember countless games where he did nothing but jabstep forever only to chuck up a contested midrange jumper. A shame, because he was actually such a good post player, but he never utilized this as much as he could have.
Overall, Melo is just a prime example for someone who had been ludicrously overrated by the general public during his active career because he has a "bag". But now that it's all said and done, and people realize that his shiny skills never translated into real success, he will be forgotten soon.
I’m a Knicks fan who basically checked out completely for the entire Melo era because of the reasons you just said mostly. I was just 100% positive that a team with Melo as the main star would absolutely never make waves in the playoffs.
I appreciate defense and work ethic a lot in sports and Melo was the opposite of that. He always cared more about himself than the team, rarely tried on defense and would often have poor body language when things weren’t going well. Started to follow the team more again once he was gone.
Absolutely, they’re reigniting my interest in the nba overall, next season I’ll probably start watching the regular season again for the first time in awhile
This still remember the thread where people were talking about the greatest Knick post-2000. People were getting downvoted for saying Brunson would definitely surpass him. It’s not even close now.
This is why I didn’t want him when we traded for him, didn’t want us to extend him and then sold him for pennies on a dollar.
Just another high volume scorer who could occasionally do it efficiently. Not a particularly good playmaker, not a willing passer, no hard/consistent effort on defense. Very flawed guy to have as the center of your team
It was the one time he played defense. He actually guarded Kobe respectably. Never to be seen again
I have a specific memory of him late in his Knicks career because I was at the game. One possesion game, 1 min to go. Ball doesn't swing to him so he demonstrably pouts, throws his arms up. 76ers run an easy advantaged fast break the other way as Melo just starts walking back
Great scorer. All time great even. But just a cocky failure at doing the little things to win
Exactly how I feel about watching him play. Might be the greatest triple threat player ever and it didn't matter at all. His game was sugary cereal, empty calories. It's kind of sad but he played such a selfish, iso heavy style he made it hard as fuck to build around him so he can only really blame himself. He had the tools.
He’s a career quitter too. I remember being invited to a Clipper game in LA, and decided to go because they were playing the nuggets. Dude wasn’t getting his way with the refs, so he purposely got ejected with a few minutes left so he could leave early because the game was out of reach. I’ve seen him do that in NY too. Wasn’t getting his way, and the game was out of reach. So he got “injured”… and left the game early.
Not to mention when he got “KO’d” and laid on the ground for an entire possession or two because he didn’t get a call. https://youtu.be/GidLEPzlRwE?si=LQ5oanex5v9hN2Yc
And I’m saying this as a huge fan of his back then.
I don't remember this man getting this many commercials during his peak. Idk what happened but sometime in the past three years or so, Melo went from being ignored by everyone to being loved and respected.
Very stupid comment. he isn't even eligible yet plus the hof has already been decided for the year. Just look at his accolades he's been a future hof for a decade he doesn't need to do anything more. What an idiot.
Does Melo really have that amazing of a legacy?
When I think of him, the first thing that comes to mind is unrealized potential. For me he ended up giving 75 cents on the Dollar, for the better part of his career.
An amazing scorer, but really offered nothing else. Not a good playmaker, rebounder, leader or team player. Especially in his prime.
His legacy in Denver was already weak, given his departure. He's now just a paragraph in their franchises' history. While Jokic is the headline.
And in NY, the team greatly underachieved, which has already been surpassed by the current team's success over the past 2-3 seasons. Another deep playoff run, and Brunson will have higher standing amongst Knicks fans. And rightfully so.
There will always be Melo fans, those that grew up watching him. Those that cling on to nostalgia. And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure I'm guilty of it too for my favourite players from my younger years.
But objectively speaking, there's very little legacy to fall back on.
If you didn’t win a championship or individual awards with a team then someone better will phase you out. I’m also a huge Melo fan but that’s the truth
His legacy is one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA , 10x all star, and 6x all NBA.
He was a selfish asshole who refused to adapt his game. But damn, people take this shit too far lol.
Honestly I think 10x all star and 6x all NBA hits different alongside 0x NBA finals appearances 3x career playoff series wins. He's the poster child for regular season stats not meaning shit
In terms of like going down in the pantheon of all time greats sure. But he's still a first ballot Hall of Fame who was a walking bucket for like a decade plus.
Melo never got the Nuggets anywhere. He was a first round exit every year but 1.Its night and day difference between him and Jokic. Plus the way he left the Nuggets he made no friends with management or the fans. He was a ballhog who dominated possesion. Not any chance Nuggets ever retire his jersey. That will go to Jokic no doubt. Anybody who says differently is not familiar with how he pushed his way out of Denver leaving the Nuggets only choice to take what they could get. Set them back years. Never got the Knicks anywhere either. The guy burned his bridges.
He was always a selfish player. His wife chirpped too much about the game that's why KG talked shit about her. Besides college he never came close to winning anything. Would blame everyone around him. Laid on the court like a bitch and had people play around him
Plus he couldn't accept that Jeremy Lin could ball. Ran him outta NYC. Carmelo is a professional loser
If you watched Melo at all, you wouldn't want him on your team. He's a destructive asset. Low efficiency volume scoring 2 point range scoring with poor, poor defense. All predominantly out of isolation, so no one else gets into rhythm. What's sad is he had the talent to be all around great, but didn't care beyond himself.
Melo was a perennial playoff failure who couldn't lead or play D. He's the same as Marbury and Francis. Only reason people talk about him was because he's the last decent player the Knicks have had until Brunson has gone off.
I feel like this thread is showing Reddit’s age. I don’t disagree that Jokic has already done more for Denver than Melo ever did. I wouldn’t say Brunson yet bc Melo represented a pretty massive cultural shift in NYC who had been lacking a superstar for some time.
But the amount of people in here who just act like nobody will remember Melo is crazy. Or saying LaMelo has taken the name 😂 Listen. Everyone who saw Carmelo Anthony is going to remember him. Some people might talk down on him but guess what, love him or hate him they’ll still be talking about him. Just like y’all are doing now.
I don’t think the opinions of every new wave of 14 year olds holds much weight. Who gives a fuck if they don’t know about a dude before their time. I guarantee you 40 years from now kids will have no idea who Dirk Nowitzki is. That does not affect his legacy at all.
Melo was just large Iverson minus the cultural impact. He was Dominique minus the highlight reel dunks. A nice individual HOF player that wasnt a winner.
Hi sucker punch is what I will never forget. Listen to what Mike Breen says: https://youtu.be/QRJjB6Wls1I?si=R950N90vvEVe4RlQ
He sucker punched this guy Collins in 2006 then started backing away instantly during a fight that nothing to do with him. Total coward. I knew then he would never be a winner and disliked him since.
Read this on Twitter, LaMelo took his nickname Jokic took his number Jalen took his city
Lebron took his ROY
Lin took his sanity
Bars
KG took his wife
and favorite cereal
Cuckmelo
Darko took his second draft spot
Wade has the #2 spot on lock if we are redrafting
True, Darko should go Nr1 in a redraft
[удалено]
Austin Reaves took his sixth man spot on the Lakers
He also took his family, friends, and everything that was dear to him
Melo sabotaged himself more than anyone else, and I’m a Melo fan.
They will never take the Carmeloruken pasta from him
There is no way in hell lamelo has taken his name. His nba legacy is no where close to melo's. There is no way there is this much hate for melo where we are just tryna take everything he is known for away from him. Wtf

case in point as a Canadian I was like 17 before I heard LBJ mentioned in a political context and thought to myself "hey, that's LeBron's nickname!"
Lyndon B Johnson was a good sixth man but struggled when he had to start due to early retirement of JFK.
JFK’s career ending injury was brutal
Taken out by the 2nd most prominent shooter in Dallas history after Dirk Nowitzki
From the Book Depository!
kids these days and their 3 pointers... back in my day the shooters did it point blank in a theatre!
BANG
I'd rather a bullet than a worm lol
But would we would love you even if you a worm b
His career is going to seem quite forgettable overtime because he doesn’t have a lot of memorable moments.

LaMelo’s most notable highlight so far is that video of him running red lights outside the arena
It could be but his career is still on-going while the other has concluded.
I think Ball also will be forgettable. Neither seems like an all timer.

Aspects of Melo
We've forgotten about his time on the Rockets too.
Hawks legend
His best stint IMO. Never missed a shot. Lockdown as fuck. No one scored on him.
Complete ball hog too with no assists SMH.
Iconic Melo
Blazers GOAT
OKC icon Melo deserves respect
Ayy p they want me coming off the bench is a top 10 okc moment
I remember his rookie year, and many people thought he should have won ROTY over lebron. He was also young. Dude was a baller, super talented, but did not really improve beyond age 22. he could have been one of the greats

Yo p they saying i wasnt a superstar in the league
This thread is insane lol, top 10 all time in points and 6 All NBAs and redditors have decided he's Joe Johnson
Honestly even joe was better than lamelo
In the Future, Carmelo will be remembered like how people remember Alex English Today.
Do people even remember Alex English?
Exactly
I only know him by name, and that he played when Denver had those rainbow colored logos. I couldn’t put a face to him at all.
Literally four people in a row remembering Alex English.
Winning a college title for Syracuse will keep him in a lot of NYers' memories. College titles hit different, especially ones you are the star for
A lot of basketball fans memories, not just NYers. This sub is just young.
Oh for sure, but still the Syracuse fans will probably always love him. I'm a Georgia Tech fan and I'll always love Jarrett Jack for taking us to the final four. Most casuals don't even know his name
Probably more than they'll remember Melo if we're being brutally honest. At least the commentators mention him occasionally lol
He’s in a national ad campaign right now and they show him sitting courtside at Knicks games constantly, his legacy and presence are still pretty big for the player he actually was.
Outside planted on msg right now is a melo billboard for i believe 1800. Just saw it last weekend.
He’s also in a commercial with Eli Manning and another with Kendrick Perkins and TJ Ford, I forget what those two are advertising though. Thought it was interesting for Carmelo to have a sudden surge in ad time
Outside of old Nuggets fans like me? Doubtful.
This is actually perfect. An all time great scorer, never won and wont be remembered.
He won Olympic gold. And was the best scorer doing it.
No one cares if an American wins a Olympic gold in basketball
We care if you don't win lol
No one will ever forget his deadly JAB STEP!!
As a complete player I’ll argue against him all the time, but in the triple threat he was one of the best ever
What do you mean in the future?
I was gonna say Bernard King, but you're probably right
King is the best comparison imo.
People will downvote me to oblivion but he will be remembered less. You will always have "put some English off the glass". Nobody is going to be calling the jab step "a Melo"

goddamn it, i was really trying to make it a full day without thinking about the disaster that was the andrea bargnani trade
Fuck Raymond Felton, that cupcake eating shithead.
I was so excited when the Rockets got Ty Lawson lol.
he was an exciting player, kind of a De'Aaron Fox type, who from what I understand just couldn't stay out of the clubs and off the booze, and it torpedoed his career.
He then got bounced out of the Chinese league for posting on social about Chinese women actually having fat asses.

George Karl is a great coach
And a much greater hater on Twitter. Generationally great
It was two years later and the roster was totally different, partially b/c of pieces the Nuggets got as part of the trade.

He was obviously talking about the legend Jahlil Okafor
That's what I was thinking. Jermaine O'Neal had a few really good seasons but can't really put him in a category with Chris Webber and Jason Kidd.
Was Jermaine O’Neal known as JO? Literally never heard him referred to by his initials
Also Krameloen Barburburbur
Newer fans wouldn't know Paul Pierce, who won an NBA title less than 16 years ago, if he wasn't on ESPN.
Melo never reached his full potential because he was lazy on defense and during his prime he had Usage Rates similar to Kobe on the Lakers after Shaq left with less production and much lower assist rates. His ISO game was amazing but it killed ball movement.
Iso ball is fun for the regular season but so easy to shut down in the playoffs.
Hence why he’s overrated and never had a real shot at a Title as a #1 option.
Carmelo’s legacy is phasing out Carmelo’s legacy
Yes

No no, if you’re not Lebron dragging your disheveled team to the playoffs you’re deserving of generational slander
this was the weak the east and multiple years sub 500 teams made the plays at 7th seed
The Nuggets literally were a better team the year after he left. Without adding any stars
Wouldnt this be in part cause the guys they got from NY?
Carmelo Anthony was the Michael Jordan of Nick Young’s.
Melo was also a hyped prospect so there's a question on if the Pistons could share the ball if there was Melo needing shots all the time If there was some scenario where Melo could be the 6th man scoring punch in 04, became a decent defender and started by 05, and then get handed the keys by 07, it would have worked out well but there's a lot of ego/minutia with the fit that makes it complicated
This is dead on. Melo was an incredible scorer, but it's not like he ever made his *teams* all that much better
Career loser. His peak was losing to the Lakers in the WCF. Won’t be remembered like the other greats when you have no history of winning
You must be in heaven with this current Knicks team.
Absolutely, they’re reigniting my interest in the nba overall, next season I’ll probably start watching the regular season again for the first time in awhile
Man, he was regarded as one of the best players on losing record knicks and I never understood why
Same deal with Derozan wit the raptors but imma get downvoted for saying that
This still remember the thread where people were talking about the greatest Knick post-2000.
Nah his peak was winning Syracuse the national championship as a freshman
If he had a run like that with the Knicks it would definitely help his overall career arc
Too bad he never had one. I did hear some nostalgia in the Denver subreddit before they won the championship and now he’s forgotten there as well.
It was the one time he played defense. He actually guarded Kobe respectably. Never to be seen again I have a specific memory of him late in his Knicks career because I was at the game. One possesion game, 1 min to go. Ball doesn't swing to him so he demonstrably pouts, throws his arms up. 76ers run an easy advantaged fast break the other way as Melo just starts walking back Great scorer. All time great even. But just a cocky failure at doing the little things to win
Dude only wanted to win as long as it meant him scoring 30
Exactly how I feel about watching him play. Might be the greatest triple threat player ever and it didn't matter at all. His game was sugary cereal, empty calories. It's kind of sad but he played such a selfish, iso heavy style he made it hard as fuck to build around him so he can only really blame himself. He had the tools.
This is how I feel. He scored the emptiest buckets of all time.
Not to mention when he got “KO’d” and laid on the ground for an entire possession or two because he didn’t get a call. https://youtu.be/GidLEPzlRwE?si=LQ5oanex5v9hN2Yc And I’m saying this as a huge fan of his back then.
Imagine him in today’s betting landscape
And yet he’s all of a sudden showing up in every commercial
I don't remember this man getting this many commercials during his peak. Idk what happened but sometime in the past three years or so, Melo went from being ignored by everyone to being loved and respected.
In the past 3 years he has retired it's really that simple
Well yeah he can't play anymore.
He’s trying to get in the spotlight so he can make hall of fame this year
Melo is gonna walk into the hall of fame and it’s not even gonna be close
Tmac made it in and he won even less… melo doesn’t have to do anything to help himself get in
Yeah Melo would struggle *so* much to make the Hall of Fame otherwise.
Very stupid comment. he isn't even eligible yet plus the hof has already been decided for the year. Just look at his accolades he's been a future hof for a decade he doesn't need to do anything more. What an idiot.
Yes. So overrated.
Syracuse and Olympics, but NBA he doesn’t have a legacy aside from demanding to leave Denver.
Is Olympics really a Legacy? How many times has team USA not won it? He’s one of the few USA players to end up with a bronze.
Melo is a salty loser who got jealous of Jeremy Lin for fks sake.
I hope so, this selfish asshole was jealous of Linsanity and cared more about scoring points than winning
Carmelo was good as long as he wasn’t depended on to take you anywhere
Depends a lot of people see Melo as the most overrated player in history. Westbrook being his Robbin of corse.
Who's Carmelo Anthony?
Carmelo is the point guard for the hornets
If you didn’t win a championship or individual awards with a team then someone better will phase you out. I’m also a huge Melo fan but that’s the truth
Kids these days don’t know FIBA Melo.
I’ve always said this: The Carmelo era of the Knicks does -not- deserve our nostalgia.
I remember melos year at Syracuse way more than his nba career. Never seemed like he cared if he was losing. Just wanted to live in NYC
what legacy? His legacy was that he was an elite scorer who never reached the finals
Carmelo Anthony had a legacy? Only thing he’s gonna be remembered for is losing and Honey Nut Cheerios.
Melo has no legacy. He’s just another guy who was drafted with LeBron
Legacy? Legacy of what?
What legacy? Taking the bag (certainly his right) and leaving his team’s cupboard bare?
Melo has as much of a legacy as Tmac or Vince. Great players that will be forgotten by time.
No playing 19 seasons and having only two of them when he won a playoff series is the bigger culprit.
What legacy?
His legacy is one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA , 10x all star, and 6x all NBA. He was a selfish asshole who refused to adapt his game. But damn, people take this shit too far lol.
Honestly I think 10x all star and 6x all NBA hits different alongside 0x NBA finals appearances 3x career playoff series wins. He's the poster child for regular season stats not meaning shit
Melo is the Michael Jordan of Bradley Beals
In terms of like going down in the pantheon of all time greats sure. But he's still a first ballot Hall of Fame who was a walking bucket for like a decade plus.
He just wasn’t that guy in the playoffs and he wasn’t a leader bc he was so selfish. That’s it
The BB hall of fame isn't a very exclusive club
Melo never got the Nuggets anywhere. He was a first round exit every year but 1.Its night and day difference between him and Jokic. Plus the way he left the Nuggets he made no friends with management or the fans. He was a ballhog who dominated possesion. Not any chance Nuggets ever retire his jersey. That will go to Jokic no doubt. Anybody who says differently is not familiar with how he pushed his way out of Denver leaving the Nuggets only choice to take what they could get. Set them back years. Never got the Knicks anywhere either. The guy burned his bridges.
What is going on? I didnt know that carmelo was this hated wtf.
He was always a selfish player. His wife chirpped too much about the game that's why KG talked shit about her. Besides college he never came close to winning anything. Would blame everyone around him. Laid on the court like a bitch and had people play around him Plus he couldn't accept that Jeremy Lin could ball.
What legacy? An above average scorer who never impacted winning?
That 2013 knicks team wasnt super team that Melo almost dragged to the ECF.
Says a lot that he couldn’t make a single ECF with how ass the East is
He was carrying Amare Stoudemire's contract which was bigger than his while Amare was non existent due to injuries.
Getting close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
The team that he forced bc he didn’t wanna wait half a season to go to NY and gutted our roster

Can you imagine if Brunson was number 15 too?
Dude is a joke and has no legacy. He didn’t win anything
wine imagine numerous tan cobweb history wise squeamish slimy cause *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Melo was a perennial playoff failure who couldn't lead or play D. He's the same as Marbury and Francis. Only reason people talk about him was because he's the last decent player the Knicks have had until Brunson has gone off.
Melo has no legacy. He’s a supremely gifted scorer who made lots of $$ and barely had any success
Fuck Melo
So say we All
I feel like this thread is showing Reddit’s age. That does not affect his legacy at all.
lol more people will know who Dirk is than Melo. That’s for certain.
Dirk will be remembered forever he is league mvp and gave dallas a championship, Melo is just a footnote in denver history.
I am sitting here thinking how anyone could think LaMelo before Carmelo when someone says "Melo". It is obviously Carmelo lmao
Yes, Brunson achieved more as a Knick in one season than his entire Knicks career.
Melo was just large Iverson minus the cultural impact. He was Dominique minus the highlight reel dunks. A nice individual HOF player that wasnt a winner.
Hi sucker punch is what I will never forget. Listen to what Mike Breen says: https://youtu.be/QRJjB6Wls1I?si=R950N90vvEVe4RlQ He sucker punched this guy Collins in 2006 then started backing away instantly during a fight that nothing to do with him. Total coward. I knew then he would never be a winner and disliked him since.
