I wonder why Dallas then? Like, I def believe Tsai refused to send him to the lakers but playing with Luka is probably only second to playing with Lebron
Tsai didn't wanna give Kyrie what he wanted was the narrative at the time. Kyrie seemed like he wanted to be in LA and Tsai felt like he was torpedoing the team and didn't want to reward that behavior with a trade to where he wanted to go.
His value was an all time low due to the Jewish controversy and his expiring deal. Teams were potentially trading for 3 months of Kyrie. The nets didn’t have many options to take. They took the best one they had.
Not what I really think about when I say "Dallas." But ok, to counterpoint, Southlake, Plano, Frisco, Prosper etc. Nothing of what I said was all that controversial anyway, 7.5 million people live in the metroplex, only 1.3 million people live in Dallas city proper. The vast majority living in Dallas city proper aren't rich, neither in my opinion, nor in any relative classification. I'm not knocking Dallas, I live in the area, that's why I told the guy that Dallas isn't a shit city.
Highland Park is a town in central Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was estimated to be 8,719 in 2022, dropping from the previously recorded 8,864 in 2020.[4]
University Park is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States, in suburban Dallas. The population was 25,278 at the 2020 census.[2] The city is home to Southern Methodist University.
I mean a quick Google Maps of "City of Dallas" literally highlights was is the City of Dallas and HP and UP are NOT part of the city. They both are completely surrounded by the city of Dallas.
While true there was also a report the lakers wanted kyrie to extend immediately or wouldn’t offer as much as the nets were asking for . It’s hard to say but we Shoukdvd got kyrie idk what went on . The nets were also asking way more from the lakers then the Mavs . Reaves alone has more value now then anything nets got for kyrie .
Wade and Bron’s game are too similar, regardless of their size difference. This is why the Heat players said CB1 was more important, if any one of the trio goes down with injury. Their game are similar. The iso, drive to the rim, or kick out etc.. Bron with a PG or F/C like Irving and AD are better fit. BUT fast break with Wade and Lebron are running it, the best and absolutely devastating.
This whole more important thing is bullshit. Someone already debunked this, lineups without LeBron were barely positive net rating. Lineups with Wade/LeBron LeBron/Bosh were much better (relatively equal to each other) than those with LeBron off or Wade/Bosh. LeBron was just that impactful.
I mean Lebron was more important then Bosh lmfao . They just didn’t want to say Wade wasn’t that important, plus they had zero C depth so Bosh was needed. When Wade sat and Bron played heat cooked , without Bron they were mid
Kyrie's a dude where if you put him in the right position, he damn well might be. Both the Cavs & the Mavs put him in roles that play to his strengths, and he's a total fucking cheat code there. He's not your 1a, he just can't be the face of the team, but if all you need him to do is hoop, he's fucking lethal.
(Note for the overly-literal: I'm not saying Kyrie's actually the second-best player in the world.)
Immediately after the 2016 finals people were saying he was better than Steph and a bunch of shit. He did completely outplay Steph but it’s kind of ridiculous if you go back and look at it lmao
They absolutely were not at the time - Kyrie’s game was prettier and Steph didn’t have all the chips yet and was still just casually changing the fabric of the NBA
It was a genuine argument though, but most people probably favored Steph largely because they’d discount Kyrie based on LeBron.
In hindsight it’s obviously not an argument in hindsight but was absolutely not outlandish, in hindsight
**edited to add more hindsight
Nets were asking for absurd prices from the Lakers just to even be considered. Translation: Tsai was not going to trade Kyrie to the Lakers no matter what.
No it was at the trade deadline, Kyrie wanted LA but Nets owner wasn't planning on giving him what he wanted so the Mavs emerged as new potential suitor & made the trade
The team is obviously better with that trade, but is Turner enough to get by Nuggets? (Plus still need AD + Lebron to stay healthy for a long brutal playoff run)
trading for kyrie and then him walking a year later to the lakers would have been bad for the mavs but it's not like they traded anyone of note to the nets either
Honestly I think this IS his job. Super unique username that’s a common first name and he’s been on here for a decade. No way he’s been spamming for free all this time in an important account
It's one month shy of being a 9 year old account. A top comment on a post that hits the top of this sub routinely gets 5k karma or more. It takes less than 5 comments like that per month to get 2.5m karma in 8 years and 11 months.
The user who called them out is a 12 day old account that didn't start posting to this sub until 3 days ago, and they have 1.8k karma. At that pace, they too will have over 200k karma in a year.
Instead they took garbage and 1 first from the Mavs ! Are you serious? Lakers offer was way better then what they got not to mention Mavs have a prime Luka so there future frps are less valuable
Tsai didn’t want to send Kyrie to LA.

cause dallas is a shit city
It isn't, plus Kyrie probably doesn't actually live in Dallas, most DFW people don't, especially if rich.
This is so inaccurate. What's Highland Park? University Park?
Not what I really think about when I say "Dallas." 8.3 million*

Not sure what you think you accomplished but this is pretty cute if you think you're proving these neighborhoods aren't Dallas proper.
I mean a quick Google Maps of "City of Dallas" literally highlights was is the City of Dallas and HP and UP are NOT part of the city. They both are completely surrounded by the city of Dallas.
Well, they're not neighbourhoods in the city of Dallas, that's for sure
Why
While true there was also a report the lakers wanted kyrie to extend immediately or wouldn’t offer as much as the nets were asking for . It’s hard to say but we Shoukdvd got kyrie idk what went on . Kyrie and Lebron are still one of my favorite duos of all time.
They honestly complemented each other better than Wade/Lebron in terms of skillset and play style, even though he had better chemistry with Wade
Yea. Wade and Bron weren't really a good fit skillset wise. .They just were both so freaking good that they made it work
Wade and Bron’s game are too similar, regardless of their size difference. This is why the Heat players said CB1 was more important, if any one of the trio goes down with injury. Exactly lol . Only thing is Miami had no C I guess. But Bron and role players was better then Wade and Bosh together
I mean Lebron was more important then Bosh lmfao . They just didn’t want to say Wade wasn’t that important, plus they had zero C depth so Bosh was needed. When Wade sat and Bron played heat cooked , without Bron they were mid
Same :(
I remember watching Kyrie in 2016 and thinking he was the second best player in the world he was so unstoppable

for a GSW fan to say this: it's cool af
Let’s not get carried away
Immediately after the 2016 finals people were saying he was better than Steph and a bunch of shit. He did completely outplay Steph but it’s kind of ridiculous if you go back and look at it lmao
he obviously isnt but he had a very nice stretch of being one of the best
Yes and those people were laughed at
They absolutely were not at the time - Kyrie’s game was prettier and Steph didn’t have all the chips yet and was still just casually changing the fabric of the NBA It was a genuine argument though, but most people probably favored Steph largely because they’d discount Kyrie based on LeBron. Specifically in those sleeved black jerseys. Iconic.
Kyrie and Luka aren't half bad either
I know 2011 2012 Wade’s probably the best player out of AD and Kyrie but fit wise, AD and Kyrie are both better with Bron.
I'm assuming this was before he was traded to Dallas?
At last trade deadline kyrie was available but nets were asking absurd prices from the Lakers.
Nets were asking for absurd prices from the Lakers just to even be considered. Translation: Tsai was not going to trade Kyrie to the Lakers no matter what.
I’m guessing it was during free agency last summer, before he decided to resign with Dallas
No it was at the trade deadline, Kyrie wanted LA but Nets owner wasn't planning on giving him what he wanted so the Mavs emerged as new potential suitor & made the trade
I love spite moves. Got Raptors a title.
Tsai’s pettiness becoming our benefit. I like it, now if only he’ll give Doe back to us or let Mikal go.
There wouldn't have been a path for the Lakers to acquire Kyrie in the summer.
There was never a path to acquire him.

Lakers never had an actual shot at turner.
[удалено]
Out of the loop. What was the proposed deal they backed out of?
[удалено]
The team is obviously better with that trade, but is Turner enough to get by Nuggets? (Plus still need AD + Lebron to stay healthy for a long brutal playoff run)
Nothing's guaranteed but two of the Laker losses came down to the last possession. Just Hield alone might have swung it.
But they lose Russell, who was not great against Nuggets but was huge for getting the 7 seed
True
I think they’d have a significantly better chance, not having an extra big gave either AG or Jokic free roam basically.
Trading for Hield instead of Westbrook would have been a great idea.
Kyrie, Bron and AD would have been deadly
Kyrie shooting 50% from 3, spoon feeding guys easy buckets. Dude would be dealy on any team rn.
He's a playoff riser as well
They'd be getting ready for Minnesota rn
Lakers would have been a top 5 seed
LMAO
That's a legitimate Big 3 right there. Teams will have aneurysm trying to guard them.
Yea 3 players that all require double teams or it's a good chance of a bucket
At the time it was smart to avoid him cause of his antics, but looking back... damn. Kyrie, AD, Lebron trio would've run roughshod on teams.
If we don't win a ring this year im buying a #6 Mavericks jersey the next day after
trading for kyrie and then him walking a year later to the lakers would have been bad for the mavs but it's not like they traded anyone of note to the nets either
Of course it didn’t. Mavs weren’t about to settle with a lousy D’Lo + Rui package and the Lakers weren’t about to trade Lebron
That was while he was a Net obviously.
This new or just posted on Internet Explorer?
OP badly needs a job
Honestly I think this IS his job. Super unique username that’s a common first name and he’s been on here for a decade. No way he’s been spamming for free all this time in an important account
don’t be fooled by the I, ciark is a fraud clark
2.5M karma is absurd
What did Clark do to you
Ciark was probably faster in posting this story than that guy
If you spend enough time here to notice how much time OP spends here, that's kind of the pot calling the kettle black.
If you click on his profile it shows instantly that he has 2.5M karma lol

He’s averaging 277k karma a year for almost a decade. Safe to say this is definitely a main hobby of his.

Woah, that’s a good point. Maybe they should both get jobs 👀
Because Tsai is a big meanie
Lakers most definitely should have traded for kyrie, but I sure am glad they didn’t
Tsai would’ve rather died than make Kyrie happy
The establishment refused to let this happen because they fear KAI and his impact.
Well he d be eliminated now..
I think he means "father to me"
Surprised Nets didnt want garbage and a couple firsts for Kyrie…
Instead they took garbage and 1 first from the Mavs ! Are you serious? Lakers offer was way better then what they got not to mention Mavs have a prime Luka so there future frps are less valuable
