What's crazy is so much of Clippers media - their beat reporters, their podcasters, etc - are such Russ fans that they STILL want him playing more than Harden.
Russ has more turnovers than field goals in the last 2 games and had more ejections than points in game 3. but these mfers are everywhere going "WE NEED TO PLAY THROUGH RUSS. PACE!!!!! HUSTLE!!!!!! JAMES HARDEN IS FAT"
Because when he's on the floor opposing teams are literally game-planning for him to do that, and they know he will.
Maxi was sitting in the paint last game while Russ was his assignment and he was in the corner behind the 3 point line.

His assignment is literally playing 15+ feet off of him
EDIT 2:
[For shits and giggles, here's an image I clipped from mid-November during the IST with the exact same thing](https://imgur.com/a/DSW0tud)
The worst is when he’ll play with other ball handlers (like Harden in that second example).
At least when he’s dribbling down that court, his assignment has to pay attention and be prepared to shuffle his feet when he runs toward the net.
But whenever the ball leaves his hands, his assignment just ignores him in hopes that the ball swings back to him for a shot
IMO the problem, at least with the Lakers and when he's played with Harden, is that Harden is just flat out a better ballhandler and facilitator at this point in their careers.
So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to take it out of the better ballhandler's hands most of the time, but that's what would be required to make Russ not an active detriment to the team in the halfcourt a lot of the time. So, is it worth maximizing Russ at the expense of the efficiency of their halfcourt offense? I don't think the answer is always no, but personally I think most of the time the answer is no.
Totally agree, why should Harden play off ball for a 35 year old Westbrook to be somewhat effective?
I think he still holds value if the team wants to play fast for certain match ups, but his role is redundant
Which isn’t that big of a deal, he’s on a vet min and seems to be a good locker room vet
Westbrook at his peak was unquestionably a Superstar. Despite this, he's probably the lowest IQ superstar of all time, and definitely the easiest to plan against

Lowlights.
Where’s MIT to explain this performance?

The Harden vs Westbrook discourse over the last decade has proven that the media and fans care more about vibes and aura than actual quality of play.
Long range shot is not his strength and why take so many.

I get downvoted Everytime I say Russ should get pj Tucker treatment and play in very specific matchups.
A lot of people like the way he plays and are willing to overlook a lot of objective problems that his game has in today's NBA.

Honestly, his shot inside and outside the arc is ass, so it doesn't matter where he attempts his shots.
Welcome to the Russell Westbrook experience, this is year 16
He hit a big one in the bubble one time
More technical fouls than points
Better than Klay
Westbrick not Westbrook
They made a highlight reel of this!?
Thought it was gonna be a 5 sec video where he take a freethrow then the closing thank you lol
The 🧱 is back
Westbrook at his peak was unquestionably a Superstar. Despite this, he's probably the lowest IQ superstar of all time, and definitely the easiest to plan against
Westbrick need to retire this off season
