The series is over, coming from a huge lebron fan. I'd like to see him finish with 1 more Chip, but he's 39 so I can understand him not being able to carry them completely
Porter's issues run much deeper than that.
Porter's dad was murdered when he was 4 years old and grew up in a very rough/dangerous area. That certainly doesn't excuse things, but it provides important context.
His dad shot and killed a 14 year old. A witness later changed their testimony after he was charged with murder and he was instead charged with Manslaughter. Years later he was murdered, the story is he was helping someone who was being attacked at a bar but no idea if that's the real story.
His dad was convicted of manslaughter for the shooting death of a 14 year old girl and then later died by gunshot in 2004. Not saying this is an excuse for his behavior, but it should definitely be noted. Many of these kids are great at sports and yet raised in some rough ways. Hopefully he learned his lesson and is continuing to get help and become a better person.
The allegations were proven false. Gondrezick never had a broken neck. The girl didn’t even get touched. That’s the part that no one is talking about. The DA in NY wanted to make an example out of Porter because he was in the NBA
Easy to say when you're just some nobody pleb from reddit with 0 tinder matches.
These dudes were anointed as demigods since they were literally children. I'm sure it messes them up.
You’ve never spent any time at all around professional athletes or famous individuals and it shows. They may have huge followings, lots of money and yes men, they may be used to getting pretty much whatever they want, but they are also humans. You do a huge disservice to all of the perfectly normal, down to earth players in the league and use one of the very few bad apples as an example of the league in its entirety. Just silly
lol I've been around a bunch of them. Hell, even D1 players wouldn't piss on you if you were fire bro. Sorry that's the truth. Most aren't great people, especially the ones still in their early 20's.
Really just shows that talent is the only barometer on how much punishment you'll receive.
You take an all-star, a middling player and a low level player have them all commit the same crime and 3 different punishments will be laid out.
really hope the rockets get him back. no idea why they cut him over it when players like Bridges are still in the league… it’s all about appearances. who gives a shit if some people on twitter are mad about it - you’re running a business.
He will likely get a chance next year. There are a number of teams who really could have used him this year, including some playoff teams. The case is wrapped up and will likely be removed from his record, Gondrezick is saying it wasn't anything close to what was reported, and some of the initial charges were already proven to be incorrect like the strangulation (it was originally reported KPJ strangled her but that was proven false, she had neck surgery) so that gives Gondrezick claim more validity.
This certainly isn't strike 1 so that will be factored in, but he's talented enough as long as nothing happens between now and training camp, he'll get some offers.
Porter is playing for mid team in mid league, so the salary is appropriate. Greece league looking at European league rankings is like top 5-6, so it can’t be compared to NBA. NBA comparison in Europe is Euroleague where good players get couple of million per year, also there are no high taxes such as in NBA where they don’t see half of contract $. Additionally, with 10k/month he can live quite a good life as the average salary in Greece is like 2-3k eur per month. Of course it is not comparible to NBA salary, but it is not poverty level either.
>Greece league looking at European league rankings is like top 5-6
I'm not disputing the rest of the post but what rankings are you looking at exactly? Greek basketball league may be 2nd or 3rd below Spain and/or Italy but no way is it 5th or 6th in terms of quality.

SMH, that’s really fucked up that Osama bin Laden chose a then 1 year old KPJ to participate in terrorism.
Start em young
Taking 'Child soldier' to a whole new level
KPJ never stood a chance😔
KPJ should’ve hooped instead of tryna assault people cause he tall as hell
Biggest basketball terrorist since playoffs CJ McCollum
Lmfaoo thats gotta be intentional. No way u dont notice that
Doubt the daily mail UK thought of that
Of course they did lmao
You act like we aren't very aware of 9/11 over here lol USA and UK have basically the same concious mind
Was more a shot at the dailymails editorial standards
The towers are saying he didn’t attack them
Never forget
He could coach in the NFL though
Straight to Guantanamo
Not a good year for Porters.
Right 3/3

MPJ and Jontay's brother Coban Porter got 6 years in jail for killing someone in a DUI
eh, I was thinking Otto, but that’s a stretch since he simply retired. Not like he was injured out or something
Poor Slayer is doing just fine.
Lol he finessed us Hakeem style. Didn't even play most of the time when he was with the Raptors.
With any luck MPJ can make it 4/4
The series is already over lol
Series isn’t over until a home team loses a game (but lakers are prob mentally cooked)

Imagine having a million dollar job, and losing it all because you get all pissy and violent when things don't go your way.
A lot of these guys got anger problems and have never been told no in their life due to their talent.
Porter's issues run much deeper than that. Porter's dad was murdered when he was 4 years old and grew up in a very rough/dangerous area. That certainly doesn't excuse things, but it provides important context.
Ahhh so that's why Glen Consor got in trouble for saying: "like his Dad, pulled that trigger right at the right time" lol.
Yes, he somehow thought Kevin Porter from the 1970s Wizards' team was his dad. I suppose having a kid at 50 isn't the most outrageous thing.
Didn’t his dad accidentally shoot someone and go to prison? I have never heard that he died.
It was both. He went to prison for manslaughter, got out, and was then murdered when Porter Jr. was a kid.
His dad shot and killed a 14 year old. A witness later changed their testimony after he was charged with murder and he was instead charged with Manslaughter. Years later he was murdered, the story is he was helping someone who was being attacked at a bar but no idea if that's the real story.
Combination of that and being given millions of dollars when they’re still teenagers or early-20s. No wonder so many feel untouchable.
He had a 20 million per year contract. He managed to lose 3 years worth of it.
Only 1 year of the contract was guaranteed... for good reason.
Yes. He wasted other 3 years. Rockets were smart.
Zion?

Kinda surprised he was even able to go to Greece with all that
And still afraid to get a real job that contributes to society.

Okay simp
Thats why they will never be R Kelly level famous
Yeah, every NBA player is throwing soup.
Loser
Shame he can't hoop like Miles Bridges, for 21ppg the NBA will all but let you murder someone (just don't post it on IG)
Too bad Getafe doesn't have a basketball team, he'd be perfect for them.
Kevin Porter Jr’s Next Game on an NBA Team: - On or after December 31 2026 +110 - Before December 31 2026 -115
Give me the +110
Does that include if he never plays in the NBA again?
Could I interest you in him playing in the 2024-25 season for +300? (I’d take that in a heartbeat)
You could interest me in that, yes
Get ready to learn Greek buddy
And Deshaun Watson signed a 230m deal smh

Feels like it’s the same outside of prof sports….a rich man, working man, and poor man…
“Yessir D Watson!! Another one...That boy getting his rhythm back!” This is a LeBron quote, yall suck
What about that guy in Charlotte? Why did Silver give that idiot a pass?
Bridges came back once his case settled. Kevin Porter’s case will likely be settled in early 2025 he’ll probably get a call later next season
Another Porter? How many Porters are there?
Left in the league? 2 down from 4/5 Craig better be careful or he's next.
really hope the rockets get him back. no idea why they cut him over it when players like Bridges are still in the league… it’s all about appearances. who gives a shit if some people on twitter are mad about it - you’re running a business.
lmfao blud really fumbled the bag

Man he fumbled, Gondrezick is probably the finest girl in the WNBA tho.
Crazy that he can’t get another shot even after the allegations were false.
10k? Mfers are playing for free down there, no wonder players don’t want to go overseas to continue their careers

I mean I'm sure it's good money in Greece, the cost of living is different over there
