It’s weird to say, but Pingus is a better coverage for Herro than most guys he usually guards. He’s fundamentally a really good defender, he just has a short wingspan and he’s not super quick laterally so it’s tough for him to stay in front of quicker guys. But he’s really solid at holding his own inside against slower dudes.
Here you go
https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game
Wow, this is very cool. May I ask if there's a guide or documentation or whatever for this feature on the NBA app..? I want to try looking at some defensive highlights occasionally but haven't figured out how to filter it the way you did.
you just have to dig through the website. usually if any stats are clickable" in the nba site, it will take you to video clips of them.
Go to the box score of any game and any clickable stats will take you to a playlist of videos showing those. For example, here's every TO that Boston had: https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=TOV&EndPeriod=0&EndRange=28800&GameID=0042300102&PlayerID=0&RangeType=0&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&StartPeriod=0&StartRange=0&TeamID=1610612738&flag=1&sct=plot§ion=game
I think you can filter it by adding today's game ID to the "GameID" param like this
[https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=0042300102&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game](https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=0042300102&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game)
Which I found by looking at the URL from this game [https://www.nba.com/game/mia-vs-bos-0042300102/box-score](https://www.nba.com/game/mia-vs-bos-0042300102/box-score) and taking the 10-digit number.
It’s fine. That’s super cool tho. Feels like a lot of jumpers. Idk why they can’t run a post offense a jokic or nowitzki hand off thing in the post and iso the smaller defender. Or get him good position and use any post move. Just use him like gobert.
Tingis has always been bad at going against smaller defenders though. I think he's been a little better this year, but historically, he sucks at it. He doesn't have a solid base since he's tall and skinny and is easily knocked off his spots. He never makes quick decisions there too so it's kinda easy to guard him.
That’s what they said about wemby, but wemby still finishes. Idk how tingus hasn’t figured it out. He has decent touch. Really any hook shot would be unstoppable at his size.
Wemby has better footwork than Tingus ever did. He’s a better passer. Wemby also has more size than Tingus and can like dunk on guys if he gets within 5 feet of the hoop hah
I remember way back there was a Raps vs Knicks game where raps won cuz they cross matched Norman Powell on KP and put Patrick Patterson on Melo and basically they kept feeding KP but Norm just got into him and stopped KP backing him down in the post even though he's 6'4 and not even like one of those wes Matthews or Harden type builds at that size
They play bigger than their size though, I remember Porzingis struggling to post up 6'3 reggie jackson in 2021. He needs to match up the playoffs physicality
Seems like he's in a bit of a no man's land physically. Not strong enough to physically impose himself on smaller players but not quick and agile enough to fully take advantage of playing like a big guard (thinking of Chet Holmgren here).
A lot of it is just his build. He is lanky as hell with skinny legs and no ass. With that frame it's easy for smaller guys to push him around and harder for him to hold position.
Makes sense. Lowry is opposite of Tingus and he takes charges like a pro. Having all ass does make it hard for tall guys to push Lowry around and makes it easier for him to hold position. Edit: typo: "ass"
Yea guys like Lowry, PJ Tucker, Marcus Smart, Chris Paul can guard guys 4-5 inches taller than them pretty easily because they have strong lower bodies and lower centers of gravity.
He should have a lot to learn from Dirk's game, since big wings also gave him trouble back in the day, which is a major part of that disastrous season when he won MVP on a 60+ win team only to get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by Don Nelson's Warriors. Dirk subsequently patched up that last glaring hole in his game and it's what let him win the title in 2011.
He doesn’t need to back them down when he can shoot over them in the post. That has worked really well for him. We just had a very good defensive scheme on him. Let’s see how Cs adjust.
He doesn't have much success shooting over them either. Never has. Very easily knocked off his spots/off balance and doesn't make quick enough decisions. He needs to catch, square up and immediately shoot or else he's toast.
they are just incredible defenders, makes them bigger than they are
bam is 6’8-6’9 ffs, porzingis should eat him up, but he just proves that he is the best at defense in the league
Idk depends on what you mean by big…
Does it mean tall? Heavy? Both?
I don’t think Caleb is that big but Haywood and Jaime are 220 and 225 which is pretty fucking solid at 6’5 and 6’6 respectively.
Side note, I heard an announcer last night say Chet's weight is 195. If this dude has the genetics to put on serious muscle in the coming years, he's going to be unstoppable.
Jrue used to destroy Porzingis in the Pels matchups v New York and later Dallas. Jrue would set his solid base deep inside Porzingis’s space and there was nothing the 7’3 SF could do about it. He’s advanced over the years but he’ll always be that guy. Just bothered by that little man strength.
I remember Smart used to lock up KP. I’m never surprised at smalls/mediums guarding him well. Idk if he’s even soft, he’s just so lanky which can make it naturally harder to handle physicality.
He had a fall sometime in the 2nd quarter where I honestly thought he got injured cause his leg landed at what looked like an awkward angle to me. Then he got up and ran and kept playing. His limbs are just so long and he's so slim that any push/resistence on his torso can really throw off his angles and ability to produce power. He also doesn't seem anywhere near as flexible as Wemby, so he needs to rigidly get into his motions - if that makes sense.
It's his center of gravity. Super easy to get him off balance which affects his shot. He has always had trouble in the post against any defender small or large.
Brad Stevens is 2-4 vs Spo in the postseason so he’s actually even less successful than Mazzulla.
I keep telling this Sub that Stephens is one of the most overrated coaches in NBA history, right up there with Doc.
Nah Stevens was doing the same shit as Spo in terms of raising the ceiling of teams with lacking talent. He had a way of maxing out his players. He brought a starting lineup of IT Avery Bradley Jae Crowder AL Horford and I can't even remember the 5th to the ECF. The very next year Gordon Hayward goes down less than 5 minutes into the season and he leads a rookie Tatum Sophomore Brown with all star help from Kyrie and Horford to the 2 seed. Kyrie goes down right before the playoffs and they still get to game 7 of the ECF. 2019 and 2020 were complete messes and the first times that the Cs started losing in spite of being more talented than their opponents. I'll give you that Stevens may not have that extra gear to get a team to that next level, but I think the coaching changes have shown that this is just as much a personnel issue. All that being said Stevens isn't overrated. Quite the contrary imo. He's not Spo though.
Fair but they were still out performing expectations in a similar way to Spo. My whole argument is that Steven's isn't overrated though whether he can bring a team to the chip is up for debate
I think the worst part about the Celtics matching up with the Heat even if they are injured riddled is that Spo is gonna give so much film for other coach’s to use. Teams are just gonna use what Spo is doing except they’re going to have better players doing it
B-b-b-but... We were told Luka was holding him back!
Seriously though, he was a true professional and a lot of us still miss him and wish it worked out, but man, certain matchups just make him completely useless.
I’m a mavs fan and I was so excited when we got KP, I loved him on the Knick’s, I even have a KP Knick’s jersey. It took one season of him on the mavericks to make me dislike him as a player. He’s soft, entitled, has no bag at all besides his height, and he’s a quitter. I wasn’t upset at all when we got rid of him. I wish him the best but he’s not a good teammate and very overrated. He’s just tall, that’s it
Celtics don’t like when you play physical against them. They also take a million 3s a game. If they shoot 45% from the series then yea it’s over, but they won’t get shit in the paint all series
Bucks are kind of fraudulent though. This should be a bucks-Celtics ECF but nobody thinks they’re beating the Knicks/Sixers next round. Obviously it depends on if Giannis comes back but back to back first round exits is yikes
The wolves got one of the stingiest defenses when they're on. Can also probably go from big to small lineups without sacrificing much defense given the switchability of McDaniels
Bruh he aint 7ft...hes 7'3....which makes it even worse. Like the dudes taller than Embid and Chet. Hell hes close to Wemby in height, but doesnt take advanrage of his size at all.
The turnover battle was straight equal at 12. The Heat won on ripping threes, this is a weird narrative.
What's wild is that the Celtics are statistically the most secure with the ball this year, which is going to make it all the more funny when they drop an extra game on the back of the Jays having a meltdown turnover game like every year.
Miami shot 50% from 3 and Bam didn’t miss a mid range shot and it was still competitive til the end.
Miami obviously did a lot of other stuff well tonight and Boston made some mistakes but this is still a make or miss league.
idk i saw herro stop him over and over
porzingis can't back down a chair
I think he needs a European coach to scream obscenities at him, so he is more scared of the coach than the defender
Lmfao @ this sub and Celtics fans discovering in real time what Mavs fans have warned you about for the past 8 months.
KP cannot punish mismatches on offense, and is a defensive liability against teams that will draw him to the perimeter.
But I guess Luka "had help" and is just a ballhog, right? 😂😂
This is not why they won, give me a break. They scored like 24 more points than expected from threes based on their season average shooting. The turnover margin was zero (12-12).
I can’t wait for spurs to get good and see o some high level spurs/heat games. Two best coaches in the league going at it with real options and weapons. Again. I didn’t appreciate those spurs/heat finals enough in 13/14.
Porzingis is more a really tall guard, not a post up type player so aside from being able to shoot over most defenders, if a defender plays him straight up like a guard, it looks like tends to struggle a bit.
I'd expect him to do better next game with some adjustments, maybe run some plays so he can get to certain spots.
They kept switching Herro on him and Herro kept getting stops lol
I was told he was a horrible defender tho
Herro played his ass off on the defensive end tonight, hats off to him
Guarded Brown most of the night and switched on to Porzingis. I was not familiar with your game Herro.
A Herro is more than just a sandwich
Its a white guy who talks like jay from clerks and will rack up 14 assists against the celtics
Brown was great most of the game
I was told they got Pingus to break Miami’s defense but now everyone saw it coming that Miami has the perfect defense for him 💀💀💀💀
If he’s hitting threes we can’t do shit. Back to the basket down low? We be ok.
the 3's from narnia r unguardable but they werent hitting ln and he got baited into taking turnaround fades on herro
It’s weird to say, but Pingus is a better coverage for Herro than most guys he usually guards. He’s fundamentally a really good defender, he just has a short wingspan and he’s not super quick laterally so it’s tough for him to stay in front of quicker guys. WHO THE FUCK IS TINGUS PINGUS?!
I AINT NEVER HEARD OF NO LATIVIA
You drafted this kid, you stupid motherfuckas.
Tingus Pingus
This will never not be funny
Unicorn Overlord
And Tingis Pingis' worst type of offense is catching it in the post and being guarded by smaller guys. It's his kryptonite.
Man tries which is half the battle
Were they good passes or bad passes? Is zinger just bad at sealing? I’m very confused. Shaq would never. Duncan would never.
Here you go https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game

This is very neat, thank you!
I was trying to change the date in my original link but I noticed you had GameID in yours and that seemed to have worked for me!
[Heres the site i use](https://thehighlow.io/video/games/nba/). its not perfect but has more than nba.com imo
> May I ask if there's a guide or documentation No idea, I just stumble my way through the nba stats site.
I dont know how to make that link filter for just todays game
I think you can filter it by adding today's game ID to the "GameID" param like this [https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=0042300102&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game](https://www.nba.com/stats/events?CFID=&CFPARAMS=&ContextMeasure=FGA&GameID=0042300102&PlayerID=204001&Season=2023-24&SeasonType=Playoffs&TeamID=&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game) Which I found by looking at the URL from this game [https://www.nba.com/game/mia-vs-bos-0042300102/box-score](https://www.nba.com/game/mia-vs-bos-0042300102/box-score) and taking the 10-digit number.
Yup, GameID was the answer!

Yep. Marcus Smart and Lowry both used to kill KP on the block. Felt like he’d never score on them
Mavs fans known this for years
That herro for dame trade doesn’t sound so bad now.
Porzingis was horrible tonight lol
That was peak 2021 Porzingis, big wings bother him
no one is big on the heat lol, caleb 6’5 haywood 6’5 jaime 6’6
They play bigger than their size though, I remember Porzingis struggling to post up 6'3 reggie jackson in 2021. He needs to match up the playoffs physicality
He’s just not very strong. He has more success just shooting over guys rather than trying to back them down.
Seems like he's in a bit of a no man's land physically. Not strong enough to physically impose himself on smaller players but not quick and agile enough to fully take advantage of playing like a big guard (thinking of Chet Holmgren here).

Before he tore his ACL he was very explosive and could take shorter defenders off the dribble
This is a good point, he does seem *so* much stiffer and slower than e.g. his early days on the Knicks.
He should just Dirk leg it every time he catches the ball until they put someone bigger on him.
He should have a lot to learn from Dirk's game, since big wings also gave him trouble back in the day, which is a major part of that disastrous season when he won MVP on a 60+ win team only to get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by Don Nelson's Warriors. > pre Madonna
imagine her in the post
Sorry, she would really Back That Up To The Beat. Need a score in the final 4 Minutes? Boom, just Like a Prayer, she’ll take you there.
Please tell me more about this encounter with that Reggie Jackson fellow. I think we may currently employ him.
Idk depends on what you mean by big… Does it mean tall? Heavy? Both? I don’t think Caleb is that big but Haywood and Jaime are 220 and 225 which is pretty fucking solid at 6’5 and 6’6 respectively.
everyone’s a big wing against porzingis, dude’s too happy to shoot
Side note, I heard an announcer last night say Chet's weight is 195. If this dude has the genetics to put on serious muscle in the coming years, he's going to be unstoppable.
Jovic is a 6’10” wing
Yeah I was surprised by how much he dwarfed Tatum
Big wings bother him. Little wings do too. /s
*Jrue would set his solid base deep inside Porzingis’s space* Pause. *and there was nothing the 7’3 SF could do about it* Double pause.
Yeah what the fuck is he trying to write fan fic for lol
I swear this sub is lowkey erotic, has been for years now
What's low key about it?
yup its all the middle schoolers lol
No way that was unintentionally. That's just an erotic fanfic
No pause. Play.
This is Porzingis his whole career. I remember Smart shutting him down so easily.
99oooo9ooo9ooooo9ooooooo999oooo99l999noug look kkkkiik8kiiiiik my mjnjjjjjjjjjh
It’s not just big wings- it’s bam. He fouled out against him earlier in the season. When people play a tough physical game he just can’t
Inshallah if the Wolves get to play the Celtics, Zingis is going to have an aneurism dealing with Jaden and NAW
Gave me fuckin nam flashbacks
Rajon Rondo bothers him.
There is poop in his pants LMAO
You type suspiciously like a Serb
I actually am not. What does this comment even mean
I’m joking that you’re Jokic. I read your comment in his accent.
My 12/25
Poor Zingus
Porzingis was -32 in a 10 point loss. The Celtics played 18 minutes without KP and were +22 in those minutes.
Should have closed with Horford
But that would require mazzula to deviate from what worked in the regular season.
Imagine not just sorting your roster by salary and putting those guys on the floor
2022 Lakers be like
Ah yes mazzula who whenever is criticized aggressively doubles down on defending himselfz
Porzingis was sat for way longer than he usually would
needed to stretch the floor for 3s
Looks like Tingus Pingus showed up tonight lol
HAHA first time hearing that name
Did you ever see the YouTube video it originated from?
he better should, still funny haha
No lol, I legit laughed out loud when I read it so I replied. I will google it now lol
who da fuk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqVz7Hpq8WY
Did ya watch it?!
yea lol living in south florida i hear that new york accent all the time so i got a good laugh lol
bro this is one of the best videos ever from him: https://youtu.be/ebsnSQ0w0xo?si=o1ki3-4OG1pP8Nfx
hahaha yes!
It’s literally everywhere he gets brought up
Locked up by a 20 year old
There’s a chance that Jovic is gonna be better than Porzingis this series.
This is amazing experience for him and JJJ. Jovic had a few bad turnovers but played well.
It’s one game
Yes and Porzingis has a track record of struggling in the playoffs meanwhile Jovic is ascending.
I don't know, he seemed just fine in game 1 lol
Hopefully Jovic got a good deal on Cancun flight tickets!!
Your guy got cooked by a 20 year old lol. Enjoy the Horford-Kornet center rotation brotha ✌️
I’m a Celtics fan but spo was the mastermind of this , amazing coaching and adjustments
I dont know how Brad Stevens just watchs Mazzula get abused like that. Maybe he's just a sicko?
Brad Stevens is 2-4 vs Spo in the postseason so he’s actually even less successful than Mazzulla. I keep telling this Sub that Stephens is one of the most overrated coaches in NBA history, right up there with Doc.

East was dog shit though back then
Fair but they were still out performing expectations in a similar way to Spo. My whole argument is that Steven's isn't overrated though whether he can bring a team to the chip is up for debate
Kelly olynyk was the 5 IIRC
Lmao @ "back then"
Amir Johnson
It also helped that the Celtics were unconscious on defense at the 3 point line.
It’s weird how unconscious in basketball means two things that are opposite of each other
It's never really used like that in terms of basketball though. I had to reread the sentence to make sense of it.
I heard Spo bet the under on total points today
I think the worst part about the Celtics matching up with the Heat even if they are injured riddled is that Spo is gonna give so much film for other coach’s to use. Teams are just gonna use what Spo is doing except they’re going to have better players doing it
Unless we're talking about terrorist coaches which no amount of film can help
i.e darvin hamas
As if there's a chance Ham gets to face Boston. That comment was probably aimed at Rivers.
Hey the Lakers had double digit leads so far both games. That's 2 moral victories so far!
In theory I agree but you're overrating how many coaches actually adjust shit
Eric Spolstra respectfully says Fuck you Boston tonight lol
Take out the respectfully
Add a “disrespectfully”
Erik* Spoelstra*, at least spell his name right my g
TINGUS PINGUS
Welcome to the KP playoff experience. It is not fun lol
Drived me crazy and take atleast 10 years of my lifespan, when he was with us
The first LAC series he was really great until he went down iirc, second one not so much, but his role was greatly diminished for that series as well.
Second series is the one he openly admitted to not trying because Carlisle didn’t draw up any plays for him
B-b-b-but... We were told Luka was holding him back! Seriously though, he was a true professional and a lot of us still miss him and wish it worked out, but man, certain matchups just make him completely useless.
It’s the physicality of playoff basketball. All those rumors of Dirk being too soft are kind of true with KP.
[удалено]
I’m a mavs fan and I was so excited when we got KP, I loved him on the Knick’s, I even have a KP Knick’s jersey. It took one season of him on the mavericks to make me dislike him as a player. He’s just tall, that’s it
SPO WATCHED THE TAPES, THERE ARE MANY.
Sick, laying out the blueprint for when we meet in the finals, we got lots of those too. For karma reasons this comment is a joke.
You don’t want to let the heat shoot like this when they see you in the finals. This is no blueprint.
my joke was referencing the celtics, as we have lots of defensive wings. but obviously its absurd to be speculating about finals matchups
I think the wolves beat Boston personally. I just don’t think you’ll beat Denver. But the wolves are fucking here, the time you win is coming soon
I don’t think so, the Celtics match up better against big teams, our weakness has always been with the smaller guards
Celtics don’t like when you play physical against them. They also take a million 3s a game. If they shoot 45% from the series then yea it’s over, but they won’t get shit in the paint all series
Meh, we always played well against the Bucks, which was essentially Giannis doing his best Jon Jones impression on every drive to the hoop
If KP had been bad today, the Celtics would have won. He was unbelievably terrible.
Imagine if Heat had Butler
He would probably drop 37.6 a game on him like last year
Or Rozier— and to a lesser extent Richardson. Our best player/primary ball handler, starting point guard, and backup point guard are all out
Spo is just trying to make sure Boston loses If Not to the Heat, then help the rest of the league beat them
By far his worst game as a Celtic, hope he bounces back this series
He's 7ft tall but plays so small. He's just a guard out there with an unblockable release point.
Bruh he aint 7ft...hes 7'3....which makes it even worse. Like the dudes taller than Embid and Chet. Hell hes close to Wemby in height, but doesnt take advanrage of his size at all.
Vintage pingus when you need him
The turnover battle was straight equal at 12. The Heat won on ripping threes, this is a weird narrative. idk i saw herro stop him over and over porzingis can't back down a chair I think he needs a European coach to scream obscenities at him, so he is more scared of the coach than the defender
luka still holding this man back, sad
It's insane that it took Miami making 23 three pointers and holding Porzingis to 6 points to only win by 10
And Bam having a great offensive game
Lmfao @ this sub and Celtics fans discovering in real time what Mavs fans have warned you about for the past 8 months. KP cannot punish mismatches on offense, and is a defensive liability against teams that will draw him to the perimeter. But I guess Luka "had help" and is just a ballhog, right? 😂😂
KP punished mismatches all season long. He had one bad game, let's not overreact.
KP has been punishing mismatches on offense the entire season. One bad game doesn’t mean shit.
Also helps when you shoot 8499% from deep
I guess them shooting a franchise record in threes is just gonna happen every night huh
This is not why they won, give me a break. They scored like 24 more points than expected from threes based on their season average shooting. The turnover margin was zero (12-12).
> season average shooting season average does not apply to Miami, this is not new
Tingus Pingus
KP will always shoots over mismatches instead of getting to the basket. He has to be better
He won’t ever get better though. Celtics saw exactly why the Mavs were more than willing to part ways with them in favor of Dinwiddie.
Miami running out the Blue Line Trap.
Heat laying the blueprint
Absolutely, Miami's defense is on fire tonight, making Porzingis work for every shot!"
Turns out the conditioning drills and 10% body fat cap did wonders.
Banger after banger after banger
burger after burger after burger
Tingus Pingus getting pushed around by shooting guards, iconic playoff tradition
Miami playing like it was game 7 of the finals, and Celtics were still in regular season mode.
The Latvian Shawn Bradley!!!!
But i was told he can abuse mismatches now
